Shams says the Celtics are receiving calls on Jaylen Brown & Derrick White | SC with SVP
to the NBA where a day after moving the veteran Drew Holiday the Celtics have traded another key piece of the 24 title team sham Sharan reporting they’re sending Kristoff Porzingis and a second round pick to Atlanta while Terrence Man and Atlanta’s number 22 pick head to the Brooklyn Nets finally George Nang and a second rounder land in Boston so a lot of movement in advance of Wednesday’s draft the trade means that Brooklyn now has five count them five first round picks which would be an all-time record if they were to make all five selections you got to believe that they’re going to be used in some sort of movement but you never know celtics have saved 180 million in tax penalties between this trade and the Drew Holiday trade 140 from this one alone hawks meanwhile get a player in Porzingis who has a career-high 41% from three last season sean Shiranya I told you as we talked before the show you can’t escape your ballheaded friend we were together a lot during the finals i enjoyed a chance to be around you a bunch and now we get a chance to dive into the offseason and I know you’re never sleeping as Boston moves through they move Porzingis we’re sh we’re saving some money but you got to have some money as it relates to Jaylen Brown what is What does this potentially mean if we connect the dots about his future with Boston scott it means them phone lines are ringing in Boston uh my understanding is the Celtics are getting offers calls on both Jaylen Brown and Derek White the Celtics have high price thresholds for both players we know how great Jaylen Brown and Derek White are so I’m sure they’re getting some massive offers some pretty big time calls as well their preference has been to keep both players but this is a team that’s still in the first apron still a luxury tax team still dealing with the uncertainty of Jason Tatum status next season so at minimum I expect Sam Hower Anthony Simons’s names that will be discussed will a team match that price threshold that the Celtics I’m told have set around the league for Jaylen Brown and Derek White to be able to get them they are listening but will a team get there just in the span of the last two days Scott though they’ve shed $180 million in luxury tax savings they’ve gotten out of the second apron but with a season next year full of uncertainty just how much do they want to get out of these aprons and the taxes well and this is this is the the the new CBA come to life right this is creating the opportunities for smaller markets and and other teams to like we just saw in the finals get to that big stage as it relates to a former Celtic it’s Kyrie Irving you reported that he intends to decline a player option and and sign for the long term three years with Dallas what more can you tell us about this one scott I spoke to Kyrie Irving just a few moments ago and he told me his decision to return and stay in Dallas was largely based on commitment not only from him but the Mavericks as well and wanting to build a real legacy in Dallas and even more than that his belief in this team’s ability when he’s healthy and whole again potentially in January and February and beyond over the next three years to compete for a championship around him Anthony Davis soon to be number one overall pick uh Cooper Flag and the leadership there Jason Kid Nico Harrison and former owner Mark Cuban but this was a beneficial deal Scott for both sides because the numbers that he’s signing for it allows the Mavericks to have the taxpayer mid-level exception and why is that important it’s important because they need to find a point guard that they can that they can bring in that can play as a starter while Kyrie Irving is out and I’m told two names to keep an eye on there d’angelo Russell and Malcolm Brogden so Kyrie Irving is there for the long haul there were some settlements made to allow the Mavericks some flexibility we’ll see what they do over the next couple weeks i know what you’re going to be doing over the next couple hours and days that’s going to be working those phone lines i’ll have my ears out as all of our viewers will as well as you break the news i I know we’ll talk to you soon man be well you learned last time Mark Williams yeah don’t do it again don’t do it again day away from the NBA draft as the finals are in the rear view and the big city gets prepared to host the very best of the future of the league of course the Mavericks won the lottery and they’ve got the rights to select Cooper Flag minus 50,000 to go first after one year of college the main will be the second youngest top pick in NBA draft history eight days older than LeBron James when Bronnie came out in 2003 gone fairly well for him flag leads an extremely deep freshman class projected to account for the first eight picks of the draft according to ESPN’s latest mock not only would that be a record to open the draft it would be the most consecutive freshman drafted at any point in any one draft if it were to come to pass reigning champion Thunder currently one of seven different teams with multiple first round picks they’d be the first reigning champs to make multiple first round selections since coincidentally enough given the franchise’s history the SuperSonics in 79 joined now by a man who famously tells me at the end of the first round every year he’s going to be faced down in a gutter but we welcome in a lucid and brighteyed Jay Bilis to talk NBA draft in advance of Wednesday’s first round and Jay we know where it starts and it’s going to be Cooper flag i’m interested in what we saw happen at Duke this year where he blossomed before our very eyes what is the timeline of his NBA progression look like in your mind you know I don’t know that you want to put a limit on Cooper Flag i think he’s going to be expected to be really good right away and we saw when he was a 17-year-old playing against the US Olympic team when he was on the select team i mean you had these future Hall of Famers saying “Man this dude’s the real deal.” And he is i mean he delivered on everything we expected and then some he led a Final Four team in scoring rebounding assists steals and blocks but Scotty what has always impressed me since I started watching Cooper Flag is the competitive level of his makeup like talk about guys being competitors and there are a lot of them out there but he’s on the upper tier of competitors that I’ve seen play in college and I likened him I mean I it’s because he played at Duke but but I think he’s the the best competitor Duke’s had since Christian Lightner and I think that’s saying something because Lightner was one competitive dude yeah that I think that’s a very apt uh an apt comparison to make now we know he’ll go one presumptions Dylan Harper smooth lefty point guard from Ruckers will go two so in a sense the draft starts at three i’m interested in Harper’s Ruckers teammate and there’s been a lot of conversation about Ace Bailey and the way his agents have chosen to handle the pre-draft stuff i watched him play a ton at Ruckers and I saw a long smooth three-level score i like him a lot where do you land as it relates to Bailey so he’s the after Harper and Flag Ace Bailey is the next best player and most talented so he’s the best tough shot maker you know he can do it off the dribble turnaround jumpers with a hand in his face i think NBA players that watched him play are like “Man this dude can make shots.” And he can he’s got the complete package it’s just he’s 18 so he’s not the most mature and I don’t mean that like he’s an immature kid type of thing but as an 18-year-old player he’s not quite like Cooper Flag in his maturity level and his approach uh the stuff about not working out I’m not bothered by that if he doesn’t want to work out for teams that’s fine it may affect his draft position and that means money if he’s willing to give up that money that that’s his business i don’t have any problem with that the only thing I would question is if he’s scheduled to work out then go to the workout but just the whether he works out or not that’s no big deal to me uh because everybody’s seen his tape and watched him in person they know this guy is uber talented but the other question mark is would you rather have BJ Edgecom of Baylor because he compares to me favorably with a 19-year-old Victor Oladipo or a 19-year-old Dwayne Wade doesn’t mean he’s going to turn into that we certainly always have to pump the brakes on that a little bit but he’s super athletic excellent in transition and he’s an outstanding defender he fits the suit as far as a as a defensive wing in the NBA you and I were talking a bit before we came on there there’s a greater depth here clearly than there was a year ago and I think that this the parade in Oklahoma City on Tuesday I should say is a great reminder that you could find talent in the early teens right sja went what 11 uh Jaylen Williams went 12 and they’re having a parade is there a player that’s perhaps not top 10 or maybe there or late lottery that you really like a lot i really like Asa Newell of Georgia uh he’s he’s long athletic uh really good defensively is an excellent offensive rebounder he averaged almost three and a half offensive rebounds a game that was second in the Southeastern Conference only to Jani Broom of Auburn and when he is a primary defender he held his assignment to about I think it was 33% from the field so he can affect the game on both ends of the court and I think there’s a lot of room for growth i also think it’s going to be interesting Scotty to see what happens with some of these 3 and D guys so Carter Bryant Rasheir Fleming and then the mystery man Cedric Coward all these guys are super long armed they can defend multiple positions and really affect the game on the defensive end and they can knock down open shots and so I think those guys are going to be really valuable and I think all three are likely to go in the first round not every player that’s going to help teams in this draft are going to be star caliber you know allstars uh you know you’re seeing you saw with Oklahoma City and with Indiana it’s the guys that are further down the ladder that are helping win you know win games win championships and be valuable pieces and th those three uh uh could certainly be that in the NBA the Coward story is remarkable i mean there’s there’s a comp I guess and like Duncan Robinson was a division three shooter and he made it in the league and made himself a ton of dough but I mean read the story on Coward for folks at home that aren’t familiar he had like two division three offers and now here he is he had to go because everybody’s like “Wow this guy’s going to be a a differencemaker potentially when he gets to the league.” And he’ll hear his name called on Wednesday night jay you’ll be there to document it and we’ll talk to you uh then before you’re face down somewhere in a gutter all right i can’t wait thanks brother [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause]

Shams! Stop giving us wishful info! The celtics are keeping Brown and White PERIOD!
The type of money they are paying Jaylen Brown. I would definitely move him. He's not worth that contract.
If I'm the Spurs I'm offering the 2nd pick the 14th pick another future 1st rounder Keldon Johnson and Sochan for Jaylen Brown he'd be a perfect fit in San Antonio with Wemby, Fox and Castle he's that elite perimeter scorer and defender they need at the wing position
Giannis incoming
Laetner competitiveness amounted to nothing in the nba 😂 yall create reasons to make someone seems better
Shout out 207 my guy!
Brown and White Out
Rafael Stone lurking around for sure.
Brad could have and SHOULD have done better than Niang, he's too small and way too slow for an up tempo game and doesn't fit the timeline, he's too freekin Old. I give this Trade an F, as in what the F are you doing Brad. We need Athletes, not some Scrub on his way out of the League
Celtics need to hit go on the trades if Tatum is there guy
There is 0% chance they move on from white. Brown maybe 10% and that would only be some insane offer. We already got our salary shed down enough. Houser probably also going to end up leaving would be my guess.
Brown not going nowhere💪🏿☘️🏆🙏🏿
Both are going nowhere. Thanks for playing
Jaylen Brown to Sacramento 🤝🏼
Jaylen Brown at 50 million. Get real. Lmao 🤣
Jalen is the MVP, why can't they build players around him? Is he not the face of Boston?
Unload him. Play the long game.
Jalen brown to heat
And Boston didn’t get no first round picks
Send Jaylen to the lakers 🩷
Stop it Auburn center was the college player of the year and Still is the best big coming out of the Draft. . .
Boston is disrespectful
Atlanta Hawks not smart the Celtics don’t even know what’s wrong with Kris P with immune system then you breathe on him he get hurt
No… trade other players not brown or white…its stupid to trade them…
Jaylen Brown for Devin Booker is the only trade i would make for either player.
I hope people in Boston don't pay to go to those games.
I hope the sixers go after him. Trade that pick.
As a Magic fan thank you for getting rid of Kristaps. For some reason he was killing us on the pick and roll during the playoffs
This Celtic Blow up is prob because they think they don’t have a chance next year without Tatum. Drue will be old when Tatum comes back so you have to get rid of him for something now. Shows how they feel about brown.
All I ask is they keep white
I wanna see Jaylen Brown and Kyrie Irving play for the same team one day!
Ain’t Y’all The Same Goofies Talking about NEW DYNASTY? Ahahahahahahaha🗑🗑🗑🗑They Just Managed To Stay Healthy In A Unhealthy League Just Like OKC Did This Season
3 Achilles tears on star players in one year is crazy
He slick telling him ,don't let the money 💰 break us up 🤔✋
Make America Great Again.
White & Brown are untouchable.
Bro if they think they trading brown im gonna T p the garden
At this point trade everybody 😂😂
Jaylen Brown is perfect trading material. Overrated to negin with. Here lies perfect opportunity to fortify team that may nvr ne the same anyway. Its time!
Shams is a sham.
NUGGETS!!!!!
Im not a nets fan but i hope they draft a superstar that's ready to contribute day 1
Everyone sees what OKC has did now they want to try lol😂
I don’t understand this rhetoric at all. Jaylen Brown is a top 30 player in the league unless you’re getting Giannis back no trade would make sense for him. No team would be able to offer you anywhere close to what he is worth.
Who cares what the C’s do at this point. Tatum, Brown and Stevens dropped the ball. These boys should have had three rings minimum. Should have won it during Kyrie’s second season but Stevens lack of leadership as coach cost them. Should have won it in the bubble but choked against the Heat. Should have beaten and old Golden State but Tatum got away with arguably the biggest choke job in NBA history. Should have won it the following year but again choked in Game 7 against the Heat mainly because of Brown. And the lost to the Knicks is an utter embarrassment. Respect to JB and JT; they do a lot of good work in the community but them boys had every opportunity given to be the faces of the league. It’s over now. The league belongs to the international players. Black Americans are no longer the faces of the league. A shame, smh
Their whole team is gone now. Hilarious.
I had a dream Brown got traded lol
Derrick White is their best player.
