oh boy i got to turn that off for a second okay sorry this is blowing up this time of year but like what are the Jazz going to do here in this situation jazz fans are excited for it can’t wait to see what they decide to do between now and Wednesday what is the feeling leading up to those days when it actually is direct it It’s stressful but fun it’s you know this is kind of like a front office playoff game or a finals game right for us so we we work all year for these moments and it’s it’s kind of a an adrenaline rush and hectic and fun number one thing for me is competitiveness you know I want someone who’s competitive i want somebody who’s tough i want somebody who’s about the team more than they are about themselves we want guys who are extremely talented but they are team guys and they will sacrifice for the team to have team success so competitiveness toughness and the final piece team guys it’s important for us to have an understanding of the type of player that we’re looking to add to what we already have so um that’s a lot of lot of preparation that goes into that throughout a season uh we have a large team of guys that are going out throughout the year observing these guys and getting the intel learning how they they play on the court how they are um off the court as as individuals so it’s it’s a lot of work that goes into it and at the end of the day it all leads into who we’re looking to add into the the Jazz culture no DHL no pick and roll okay here we go flip over talk it out on that handoff we got to find a good to great three good to great is an extra pass same play same play same play what’s up what’s up what’s up here we go one workout in our building I think is important because you get to be up close with them and talk to them and see how they react to certain things but it is you know one session that’s you know 90 minutes max on the floor that’s not going to make or break somebody’s case it’s just another data point i met Austin i was excited man um I knew who he was i knew he was going to be the the D-League coach and um I could potentially have opportunity to play for him um he was young it was a long time ago but I was just excited to have an opportunity to play for him and learn from him but Avery’s also put in a lot of time this year we’ve had a lot of discussions already and I’m trying to lean on his experience and his eye for the game on helping me pick which players are the best carlos um obviously he has a lot of experience being a Jazz player and being a great player williams inside carlos has been at all of our dinners with the players and helping us get to know them and I I’ve really valued his insight on his his perspectives on the players personalities yeah it’s been awesome man i mean I’m I’m excited for him i just met him when he got hired to come here austin’s smart man he’s savvy he’s been around the game his entire life he has a great eye for talent he knows exactly what he’s trying to build we want tough teamoriented hard playingers skill level character work ethic just trying to find the best combination in the players i think that’s what makes the the team so great is we we now have all these different guys that have these skill sets and then you bring individuals like Carlos myself and then Austin um I think it’s like an all-star team man the draft is so important i mean you look at the history of our organization obviously Stockton and Mailman left right dominates the crowd here we go then Andre Karolinko then we got Darren Williams the draft is huge for this franchise with the 10th pick in the 2024 NBA draft the Utah Jazz select Taylor Hendris Keonte George Bryce Sensab Isaiah Collier Cody Williams Kyle Filipowski i mean I think like all of us you’re excited you’re a little anxious because the decision is important but you know ultimately as you get closer the anxiety can go down because you feel more comfortable with the work you’ve put in you feel like you know the players more you’ve studied more film you’ve had a lot of hard conversations to put people in order you know that you might want them if they’re available but you know it’s a it’s a big day
