Knicks Draft Plans Have OFFICIALLY CHANGED… | New York Knicks News

the Knicks have officially changed their draft plans many people believe that the Knicks will add an impactful player to this roster via the NBA draft but according to the latest reports there’s a better chance that the Knicks end up trading that pick we’re going to break down all of these latest reports today if you’re enjoying the content please go ahead and hit that subscribe button and make sure you have notifications on as well too if you want to support the channel the easiest way to do that is to hit that subscribe button and now let’s get started the Knicks are changing their draft night plans the NBA draft starts tonight but if you’re only concerned about the Knicks then you will not see them make a selection tonight that’s because the Knicks hold the 50th overall pick in this year’s draft that’s in the second round and the second round of draft night starts tomorrow night so you’re going to have to wait until then to see who the Knicks end up drafting but you might be waiting for nothing according to the latest reports the Knicks are more likely to trade that pick than they are to draft a player with it let’s break down these latest reports that we have from NBA insider Steve Pauper shout out to NBA Insider with News Day Steve Pauper for giving us this following update on the Knicks draft plans he said the following while being a special guest on Ian Begley’s show The Putback according to Steve Pauper this is so difficult because number one if I have a true belief about the draft it’s that the Knicks are going to make me drive to Brooklyn on Thursday for this wait through the 50th pick and then they’re going to deal it for a future pick so they don’t need to add any salary on their cap that’s my worst case scenario and I fear it might be the one that comes true and the history of this Knicks front office is that they never take the pick that is in front of them they’re always going to trade back perhaps the 52 plus 56 and then up again to 48 and then we’re going to be scrambling writing ridiculous things and tweeting things that don’t matter so keep the notifications on it’s going to move all around and I think ultimately the Knicks may move out of this draft entirely oh but we’re not done yet that’s what Steve Popper had to say about the Knicks and their draft plans but I mentioned Steve Pauper was a special guest on Ian Begley show and Begley is an SNY NBA insider and he had the following to say about the Knicks and their draft plans according to Begley I don’t see the Knicks moving up in this year’s draft for several reasons one is because of where they are in the team building process they are trying to win you need win now players also you’re adding more salary to your books if you move up particularly in the first round i can’t see that happening i would assume that the player the Knicks take at 50 or wherever they get that player from in the draft ends up being on a two-way deal just for cap reasons that’s the easiest way to add that kind of player i guess it’ll be late on Thursday when the Knicks make that pick so clearly Ian Begley believes that regardless of where the Knicks end up picking they will be drafting a player this Thursday but according to Steve Pauper he firmly believes that New York will not be adding any more players to this team via the draft they’re more likely going to trade that pick for more assets down the road and honestly if I had to pick between the two I’m siding more with Steve Pauper for one main reason he mentions a very good point every single time the Knicks are presented in this situation where they have a draft pick what do they normally do in that situation they don’t draft the player that’s in front of them normally what they’re doing is they’re trading back they’re getting more picks more opportunities to draft more players and giving themselves more assets potentially for future trades they want to make down the road that is the Leon Rose way but another thing that Leon Rose has done ever since taking over is that rookies that he drafts whether that be in the first round or the second round somehow someway they find a way to join the team and have an impact you need some evidence let me give you some evidence miles McBride Mitchell Robinson Ariel Huckporty Kevin McCuller Jr Tyler Cole all of those guys are what second round picks and all of them are likely going to have prominent roles on this team moving forward if they don’t already have them at this point in time and I think I speak for everybody mitchell Robinson and Deuce McBride they’re two core players on this team that come off of the bench we all know that new York is not likely going to trade those players unless they have a very good trade offer on the table and as of right now there is no trade offer on the table but that’s right now who knows what happens in a few weeks we all know the Knicks are trying to make a superstar trade a blockbuster trade happen this off seasonason and if they’re going to do that they’re going to need picks they’re going to need players and they’re going to need to make the money match for whoever they’re trying to trade for but for right now before we talk about trades talking about this draft it’s extremely important because this draft what the Knicks do or don’t do will tell you their moves that they’re going to make moving forward in this off season if they draft a young prospect more than likely they want to develop that player and then make him a contributor off the bench in the future that means next season he’s likely not going to have a big role that means New York is going to be active in free agency active via trade and more likely than not active more in trades because they don’t have the cap room they do not have the cap to go out there and get all the free agents that they want maybe they can get one or two of them but that’s about it and if they bring back the same roster from last year they’re even more limited in their cap space that pushes me to believe even further that the real way New York can improve this roster is by making the right trades and under this administration with Leon Rose Gerson Rosas and Worldwide West they always make the right moves for this team even if we can’t see it right away after a few years go by we finally understand we start to see it oh that’s what they were doing that is the right move leon Rose does this and I have full faith that he will continue to make the right moves for this team and I do believe in some way some fashion the Knicks will find a way to add a player via the draft to this team because you don’t want to give up on development if you can bring a young player in who potentially can help you in the future you do that i think we all know the Knicks need more size off the bench a player that can shoot and move well there are a lot of players in this year’s draft even players that can fall to the second round that can provide that for the Knicks and all they have to do is identify that talent and draft them and I believe that whoever we draft they’re going to be a very good player for this Knicks team because every time lately that we’ve been drafting we’ve been hitting on these draft picks no matter where they are look at our last couple of draft picks tyler Koh I think we all would agree we hit on that but Dier young defensive-minded player could potentially be a two-way player in the future yeah I think we nailed it on that one ariel Huck look at where he was drafted and his impact for this Knicks team kevin McCuller Jr the fact that he can do just a little bit of everything when he’s out there josh Hart 2.0 a lot of these players because of injury because of other things they slipped into the second round and New York was able to identify it and add them to this team and I think they’re going to do the exact same thing tomorrow night when they’re drafting another player but I also agree with Steve Pauper the Knicks are likely going to trade that pick and move back in the draft but they’re going to move back get more assets and still be able to draft the player new York is likely going to proceed in this way that way they stockpile more assets still get a player that’s young that can develop and also improving the team by utilizing the draft free agency and obviously trades but they’re going to go in order draft coach free agency and then if it’s available if it’s there they’ll make a trade but clearly the Knicks in their draft night plans they’ve changed everybody thought they were going to draft a number 50 and that was going to be the end of it now potentially they could either trade that pick and get no players in this year’s draft or and probably more likely they’ll trade back in this year’s draft acquire more assets and still have the ability to draft an impactful player under Leon Rose that’s what the Knicks do and tomorrow night they’re going to do that again but what about you guys what do you think about NBA insider Steve Pauper firmly believing that the Knicks will not draft a player with the 50th overall pick but instead they’ll trade that pick for more picks in the future let me know how you feel about that in the comments section below guys because honestly I would love to hear from you but that’s going to do it for this episode i hope you enjoyed it and if you did go ahead and smash that like button leave a comment below and of course guys please subscribe to the channel until next time Nick fans take care of yourself your families and each other peace and

The Knicks are changing everything about draft night. Holding the 50th pick overall in this year’s draft, NY has a decision to make. We all believed that the Knicks would use the pick to draft another player. But reports indicate that the Knicks have changed their draft plans and could look to trade that pick to avoid adding more talent to the team and therefore, more cap on the books… Troy Mahabir breaks all of this down!

  1. That's smart! 🤓
The NY Knicks are planning to drop out of the NBA Draft by trading to their 2nd round draft pick #50 for more future draft picks. Or the Knicks can sell their #50 draft pick for more money to improve their salary cap 💰 to get free agency players, it happens before.
I love Mr Leon Rose's plans
    👍🗽🍎🏀

  2. Playoffs teams draft picks are less valuable at the near bottom position of the NBA draft. They have a choice: Keep their draft picks, trade their draft picks for something better, and/or sell their draft picks for money.
That's it night and tomorrow night in the NBA Draft.

  3. Troy they need to pick Koby Brea and keep that pick , no more bs we need to keep that pick if they can draft Koby Brea is a lights out shooter that we need on the bench , something the team has been lacking for quite some time !!!

  4. We have a couple of talented rookies we should develop. Let's run it back and take the Eastern Conference next season.
