Perk says SGA passed KD & Russ as ‘GREATEST’ OKC player ever after Finals win ๐ | NBA Countdown
this was the culmination of one of the greatest regular seasons we’ve ever seen in NBA history one of the most dominant postseason runs the Oklahoma City Thunder from start to finish they get the job done here kendrick Perkins and listening to an entire crowd of 20,000 people sing we are the champions they have been waiting for this moment for a long time for a long time the most loyal fan base in the NBA they’ve been waiting on this since 2012 since KD Bob M stole Kevin Durant from him seriously and they stayed down think think about that history of that right losing getting Paul George paul George going to the Clippers having to trade Russell Westbrook they never complained they stayed down with this team packed this arena sam Preston continued to build through the draft got lucky on some some lottery picks and Chad Holmes homegr but I will say had a eye to draft Jayen Williams and Jay D and here we are in 2025 to a welldeserved Oklahoma City Sunday in this fan base well first of all I think we all would say it was a privilege to cover these finals i mean what a tremendous seven games and I just want to congratulate the Indiana Pacers on a heck of a season continuously defying the odds the game broadcast has shown Tyrese Hallebertton who went down early in this game in the hallway high-fiving his teammates on both sides this was tremendous it was tremendous absolutely we look forward to an NBA Finals a lot of people doubted that it would be this spectacular but it exceeded expectations because the Indiana Pacers showed up and give them a lot of credit where credit is due and there’s going to be a lot of people out there that’s going to question what would have happened if Hallebertton hadn’t gone down that’s inevitable but you know what the answer to that question is it’s a brother by the name of SGA shay Gilis Alexander 29 points 12 assists one turnover just one turnover in 40 minutes this brother is something special only the third player in history 30 points per game during the regular season an NBA league MVP and obviously the MVP of the NBA Finals you’re talking about Jordan three times you’re talking about Kareem Abdu Jabar you’re talking about Shay Gilbert Alexander that’s the conversation that he is in that’s the kind of season he has had that’s the kind of season he led OKC to and a lot of people can do nothing but stand out and congratulate them they deserve it and they deserve it and these things these things aren’t built in one year these championships are built over time and this team has been brought together over time and some losing and some struggles perk you talk all the way back this team was in the finals when they had Harden and Durant Westbrook everybody thought they were going to go on you had you Yeah I didn’t I was talking about the main guys but but look they earned it they deserve it a long time coming uh especially for Sam Pre who’s been with this organization for so long congratulations to him uh Clay Bennett um the whole the whole city i mean this is a team that belongs to a city it’s the most collegial atmosphere you’ll find but they turn the Pacers over 21 times that’s what they do 23 that’s what they do that’s what they do i want to say this real quick about Sam Prey nobody has been on him more than me he’s been the leader of the Oklahoma City Thunder since 2007 and has had Hall of Famers draped all over his roster but never kicked down the door and closed that’s something that I brought up continuously throughout this year he has finally closed the deal he is a champion not only the reigning executive of the year he is a he is a champion including myself and everybody else you got to stand down and pay homage this is a team that certainly falls into the category of not just a big three but a big 15 and Shay Gildis Alexander is the head of the snake he’s not the player that’s going to pound his chest and say it himself but will say it for him he’s only the fourth player to win an MVP a scoring title and an NBA title in the same season shaq Michael Jordan and Kareem are the others when you enter that rarified air the company speaks for itself first absolutely the greatest thunder ever the greatest thunder ever with this NBA championship and now about to win the finals MVP he has passed Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook as the greatest Thunder ever and here’s another conversation if you want to have it he’s knocking at the door right now of actually being the best player in the world and nobody could dispute that i mean we anointed Jokic when he wanted we anointed Giannis when he wanted this man has done it at the highest level and in his path his route of doing it he continued to make history every was every single time and the youth of this team right the youth of him the youth of Shay and the youth of this whole team it’s scary for the rest of the league but they grew up in this series but but again I’m going to go back to how much I enjoyed this seven games i mean I know we got to talk about how great the Thunder were and and they are they were they’re the champs and nobody’s going to take that but but Indiana wow were they they were a worthy advers they they brought it they made the Thunder take it to seven games and here’s my message to the league you think the regular season doesn’t matter you think it might have been different if this game was in Indiana the regular season matters cuz you want home court in game seven you want to have home court in these games right now right behind us the trophy ceremony is beginning to get underway when the Oklahoma City Thunder will officially be coronated here as NBA champions you hear that that is the sound of a fan base that has been waiting decades to be able to celebrate with their team stephen they deserve it they deserve it listen I’ve been around the NBA all season long and this fan base is spectacular make no mistake about it they’re loud as hell indiana has a special basketball environment in and of itself but OKC these fans watching them throughout the playoffs against Memphis obviously in the second round they’re going up against Minnesota in the conference finals to watch them do what they did against Denver against Minnesota now against Indiana this fan base is riveting i mean this building shakes with electricity you can’t be bored in this place go ahead and and Malikica we talk about I always say losing yourself in the in in the team they done that as a young squad you don’t find teams that sacrifice the way they sacrifice in to make this championship run think about it you had a guy like Jay Will J Oh it’s loud hold it up hold it up the Oklahoma City Thunder get to etch their name on the bottom of the Larry O’Brien trophy
On NBA Countdown, Malika Andrews, Stephen A. Smith, Bob Myers and Kendrick Perkins react to the Oklahoma City Thunder’s Game 7 win over the Indiana Pacers to win the 2025 NBA Finals.

Not hard to pass KD when he had no rings with OKC
The GREATEST !!
Does anybody even remember Ryan from the movie thunderstruck? That dude would be jumping up and down like a seven-year-old on a sugar rush
Russ๐ฎ
๐ ๐
Facta. Shai is the greatest Thunder ever. KD had to run off and join a superteam.
Our OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER 2024/2025 WORLD NBA CHAMPIONS!!!๐
This conversation is proving lebron point
2:32 Bwahah! Yup! I was saying "And Perk!" right there along with him. We miss you, Perk!
SGA 12 free throws shot horrifically in game 7. Even with being free throw merchant rest of team had to bail him out, yet again. Chet best player on court tonight. Often other Thunder.
Durrant, Harden, Westbrook punching the air right now ๐
Last year was Tha east this year tha west
Iโll never forget seeing him 6 years ago and saying he could not possibly ever be as good as Durant. lol I was completely wrong. Yes heโs the best!
Shai is for sure, I get some still wanting to hold onto Russ but letโs be honest, he got us nowhere despite the loyalty.
Sga best thunder player ever ๐ฏ
I look at it like this:
KD โstarted the thunderโ and put them on the map
Russ โstayed with the Thunderโ and was loyal and historic
SGA โWonโ with the Thunder. He was apart of the rebuild and led to the win + being historic
SGA is the goat Thunder player
SGA won league MVP, Finals MVP & PPG scoring title in the SAME yearโฆ only Kareem, Shaq, & MJ have done it
100 % agree bro kobe aura
We give Indiana too much credit. But they have to do and say it. Itโs professional. Half these analysts want to say something else
Perk must be on percs๐๐
OKC got a gift from Scott Foster in Game 4.
Should've ended 4-2 Pacers instead losing due to Haliburton's injury in Game 7.
The better team did not win this series.
Kd yes Russ no Russ individual stats on okc was unreal kd was just overrated on okc sga did a lot for okc but Russ still the best okc ever maybe n a few years we can come back to this but no ๐
Guess rings do count, if they calling him the greatest thunder ever
Yes no debate
Steven Adamโs will be the greatest player on every team he plays for
No way sga is better than Russ im sorry but russ did so much for that city and the love they have for him shows
SGA is 26 years years old, 30 points a game…
2-3 years ago nobody knew who SGA was.
Kevin Durant in 2010 aged 21, 30points a game.
Russ is the best player OKC ever had
Congratulations to the Thunder and their young cast. I could still beat Shai 1 on 1 though and I stand 10 toes down on that.
Still gotta give it to Durant Iโm sorry he was that dude with the thunder
