back here on CBS Sports HQ on the clock presented by Jeep there’s only one the Chicago Bulls selecting the first international prospect off the board Noah Essen and if you remember last year they took an international prospect in Matis Uzelis and Adam a grade here for the Chicago Bulls 12th overall getting the Frenchman Noah Essen yeah it’s a B i mean this is an upside swing which at this point in the draft is a little more justifiable than it was in the mid lottery I think um so what you have in Essenuay is one of the youngest players in the draft he’s 6’10 with a 7 foot one wingspan he’s also one of the best athletes in the draft not just in terms of his leaping ability but in terms of his court coverage now he was playing professionally in Germany and although although he still got to refine his game and build up his body he was impactful at a high level of international play he’s also physical even though he’s got to get stronger has a terrific free throw weight so there’s a lot of things to be encouraged about although he still does have to refine his game i think for the Bulls like I said the upside swing makes some sense and that’s what it is it’s you’re betting on what he can be three years from now not what he is yesterday or today he’s only 18 years old he’s a fluid athlete he can drive it but like so many of these young guys the swing skill is the shot he’s not a great shooter he’s not a good shooter but he has gotten better in that area and so the hope is when you select an 18-year-old at this point in the draft that that improvement continues to show itself um as he gets into his NBA career
