so it looks like the pick is in again uh once once more it’s going to say Memphis this pick is going to Portland of course let’s go to the commissioner Adam Silver as we deal with our 6second intermission here on our stage [Music] with the 16th pick in the 2025 NBA draft the Memphis Grizzlies select Yang Hansen from Zebo China and theQing Dao Eagles i’m going to admit I do not have the scouting report i’m just going to put myself out there so let me help you here as we see Yang coming from the stands the 7 foot1 253-lb Chinese center averaged 16 points led the Chinese Basketball Association in blocks ranked in the top 10 in field goal percentage and rebounds backstory he turns 20 tomorrow at 12 games with 20 plus points and 10 plus rebounds and when you talk about potential growth and the ability I mean he was part of the under 19 Chinese team averaging 12 points 10 rebounds five assists and five blocks well that’s quite a few that’s quite a few blocks there’s always an unconventional pick and this is clearly one now this this ends up being Portland’s pick is right this this is part of that trade this is Portland’s pick um they’ve got Donovan Klingan um now they’re going with somebody a huge player right here a 7-1 player and so it’ll be fascinating to see uh obviously they think they got something here in this player uh and not not somebody that anybody had though in this range i I I got to be honest with you nobody had this player anywhere anywhere near this that doesn’t mean it’s the wrong pick it’s just a it’s the biggest I will say this it’s the biggest surprise of the draft besides the fact I made it to pick 16 with Stephen A and I did first take that’s my biggest surprise that is his biggest surprise my biggest surprise that he woke up in the morning to do it but after having said all of that I know nothing about this pick whatsoever other than what Kevin Gandhi has told the world i’m going to lean on you but I’m going to point this out about the Memphis Grizzlies they were 36 and 18 all right at one point on their way to storming towards the playoffs it didn’t end that way 138 record a reminder this pick is actually going then it goes to Fort going to Portland and I’m looking at this right now and I’m saying to myself okay you’re the Portland Trailblazers you just acquired Drew Holiday yes okay we’re looking at them having improved defensively on a very significant level under Chanty Phillips so this lends itself towards that because seeing what we’ve seen from that guy and what you told me cuz I knew nothing about this guy i’m looking at him and I’m saying “Okay if y’all improve defensively all right let’s see if this is going to I’m just going to say something um it’s but we saw we talked about this a little bit with Phoenix they they did Malawak and they and they traded for Mark Williams as far as we understand so that’s two centers i said the same thing five six picks ago i’m going to say the same thing again portland now you’ve got two centers you got two you cannot play these guys together you can’t you can’t you can’t you’re not playing Klingan and Young together you’re just not going to do it so sometimes I wonder what what is this you’re you got to back up five you’re hoping that one of them develops i just that’s what I question about deals i will say this when we watch Ched Hongren and Hartstein playing together I know they played I know they played them off the court they weren’t on the floor nearly as much as they were accustomed to but I’m looking at size on occasion in the but not that Chad Hogrin has a little bit of a perimeter skill set i will say he put Talk about defensively right defensively yeah i look but offensively got to be able to do something and and that’s what I wonder about two centers together [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause]
