Kevin Durant trade reaction with the NBA Countdown crew

well it was a busy day in the association kevin Durant has been traded to the Houston Rockets for Jaylen Green Dylan Brooks and the number 10 pick in this week’s NBA draft also five second round picks all according to our senior insider Sham Sharan now Durant he finished last season in Phoenix he scored 27 points a game this will be KD’s fifth team that he is joining the man who broke the news is joining us now here on NBA Countdown Shams Shirana shams it feels like we have been hearing about a possible Kevin Durant move for weeks now how did Phoenix and the Houston Rockets come to this deal malikica Kevin Durant’s voice was heard around the league not only with the Suns but really everyone his preferences were prioritized to an extent and that’s what we saw play out over the last 24 hours his two preferred destinations the Houston Rockets and the Miami Heat essentially competing against each other bidding on making Kevin Durant deals and the Rockets at at the end of the day made the best offer with Jaylen Green a prolific scorer Dylan Brooks 3 and D tough player but most importantly the number 10 overall pick and why is that important the NBA draft is on Wednesday in New York and so it was very important for them to get this deal done before that point but remember back at the NBA trade deadline Kevin Durant was blindsided when he was included in in any conversation around the league now he had some level of driver’s seat position because he was in the last year of his deal an expiring contract but listen around the league make no mistake the Houston Rockets made this trade because they are they are in win now mode they want to go win a championship everyone knows they have a number one over literally a number one option on any any given night offensively and that’s something that they felt they didn’t have last year yeah i mean when you think back to the series against the Golden State Warriors Bob in this postseason it felt like they needed a shot and they couldn’t get it at some point down the stretch of those games and and you add a jump shooter like Kevin Durant who’s obviously so much more than that but he’s a bucket getter when you need it most you know that better than anyone yeah well we all it’s pretty everybody knows that um but look if you wanted to critique Houston it was they couldn’t score in the half court they just got one of the best to ever score in the half court and Kevin Durant and it’s I I just saw that the second shortest odds in the league is that what that said to to win the championship is that what I said we’re already we’re already off one acquisition i I but but you know what um look look at I mean the guy he he he we know what he does i think what he also will do for the organization is with which has a lot of youth when you when Kevin go showed up in Golden State you don’t really know you you know how great he is but you didn’t know what he does behind the scenes his work ethic his preparation and that’s what I was talking about those second shortest odds unbelievable now now the Rockets just sped up their timeline right they just went from a team that was up and coming and young to now they got expectations on him to not lose in the first second round to go to the West Conference finals and Kevin Durant has shown he still has a lot of good basketball in him and and he he had a tremendously efficient year too he was unbelievable i’m very disappointed in the word good that you just used no it’s great it’s Kevin Durant it’s great okay i mean the brother No I’m just saying I mean the man is 27 points per game you see what he brings to the table he’s instant offense for a team that was lacking and struggling in offense he provides that he elevates them to championship status this they got a shot to win it all with him van Bleet Amond Thompson is going to be a star he’s going to elevate his level of play with Kevin Durant as his teammate shagon is no joke plus you kept Jabari Smith and a few other pieces so I’m Tilman Fat is ecstatic emma Udoka is ecstatic you can guess how I know those things i’m trying to tell you they love it they are incredibly happy about it that’s the one point the other point is this you’re you’re the Miami Heat and you’re bidding you’ve got Bam Adabio and Tyler Herro how do you not give up Jamez and and and High Smith and these guys for Kevin Durant those guys wanted Kevin Durant yes they did i know they wanted them but I’m saying you got to give up some of those pieces because of Tyler Herro and Bam out of bio if you had Kevin Durant with them think about how your chances are in Miami and East to come now this may sound country and foreign to y’all but this is the H-Town flavor right hey man say man kevin Durant is on the way to HT Town man we talking about Bun Bing up the getting the trail burgers ready little Kiki Paul Wall Slim Thug pulling out the slab with the super poker rims popping the trunk with the KD lights see it’s far it’s foreign to you but Htown know what I’m talking about you know that’s where you live but you better know it represent you’re welcoming Kevin Durant and now you’re legit title contenders legit title contenders yes they struggled in the half court set they also struggled with three-point shooting now you get got KG Aean Thompson is still there tari E the reason I bring up those two guys is because they bring what you need in today’s game what we’re witnessing right down the NBA finals and that’s elite perimeter defense shams on the Phoenix side of this they’re thinking obviously replenish some of those picks and they didn’t want to go into total rebuild mode bone yeah they want to stay competitive in Phoenix 100% but Jaylen Green Devin Booker they’re one of three back courts now that average 20 points per game or more so that’s a highpowered offensive back court and then Dylan Brooks 3 and DD their owner Matt Ishri has made it clear we want a culture of toughness grit and defense on both sides dylan Brooks has that and much more well it was a busy day here in the NBA we got a game seven and Kevin Durant traded here to the Houston Rockets kevin Durant jersey sighting here in uh Oklahoma City Seattle colors but it’s all right [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause]

I’m joined by Stephen A. Smith, Shams Charania, Bob Myers and Kendrick Perkins on NBA Countdown as we discuss the Phoenix Suns trading Kevin Durant to the Houston Rockets for Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, the No. 10 pick in the NBA Draft and five second round picks.

  1. The last guy to speak sounds like an illiterate moron. How is this guy on TV doing? Any kind of analysis or commentary?

  2. Who cares kd could never win on his own even when he had the thunder big 3 . Needed to go to an already winning championship team to get rings

  3. Agreed that this was an awesome trade for the Rockets! They landed one of the best and most reliable scorers without sacrificing their future. This deal turns them into immediate contenders.

  4. If the Rockets manage to win a championship while Durant is still playing at a high level, he’ll definitely be seen as the clear LEADER of a championship team. That’s something I assume he’s still eager to achieve, but it’s also something he never got acknowledged for when he was playing with Curry.

  5. That puppet even didn't mention Alperen who is the only one allstar player of Rockets when talking about Rocket's roster.. So funny to see how those guys still ignoring European dominance in the league and damaging the whole NBA brand. Congrats ESPN for still giving a chance this guys talking completely non-sense superficial talks

  6. They were saying the same thing and same odds when he was going to the Suns😂😂. Odds don’t mean 💩

  7. The Rockets should adopt that Popovich strategy and rest KD regularly next season. Gotta watch his minutes throughout the season to save him for the playoffs considering his age and recent injuries.
Hopefully the Rockets trade for a new free throw coach this offseason too.

  8. They might wanna go ahead and pick up McConnell from Indiana. Because I think someone will, I do t think he's coming off the bench next year
Someone will pay him to be in the starting 5

  9. KD is over..he is no curry and not legoat…he do not going to do something there! I hope they not give he 45 mil a year…he is 20 mil worth

  10. Rockets will not going to win any chip not with a 35 years old injury prone kevin durant in the west its going to be tough

    Golden state
    Memphis
    Nuggets
    Okc
    Lakers
    Pelicans
    Jazz are in the mix

Rockets lets go of the enforcer dillian brooks

  11. Everybody hatin cause it’s Houston if it was somewhere they’d be praising him trash ass community

  12. KD is washed he’s still a Hall of famed but they’re not winning a Championship. He doesn’t play enough games and always injured happens with age. Smart investment move by Houston short term but not long term.

  13. How KD make rockets title contenders? Dude has done nothing since the 2 golden state years. Teams he on can barely make playoffs
