all right so the last pick here in the first round of the NBA draft Yannik Conan Neerhauser who yannik Conan Neerhouser he played at Penn State yes okay just just letting you know people might out there might be going “Who is this guy?” Well he led the Big 10 two blocks per game last season 13 points per game six rebounds 61% from the floor uh good shooter Adam Yannik conan Neerhouser to the LA Clippers your grade is what for this one i I give this one a B uh sevenfooters who are high level athletes are pros until they prove otherwise and this guy was the one of the big winners from the combine in Chicago not just because of the way he measured but also because of the way he conducted himself in the athletic testing he played well there as well and I think when you think about guys like Ryan Kulk Brener who are still on the board this speaks to the fact that some players especially the physically gifted ones when you have size and athleticism and you can move a little bit they fit the NBA game better than they may the college game i know that’s sometimes confusing for fans to understand how could this guy be get picked over someone like Ryan Caulkrunner same way Will Riley can get picked over someone like Liam McNeely but it’s it’s ultimately about how the game’s just a little different the NBA lever this is This is a vertical spacer a a lob threat shot blocker rim runner uh could be a a backup big for the Clippers norlander and I joked about it on a recent episode of the Island College basketball podcast during the season we record at least three times per week yes this young man spent multiple years in college we never said his name not one time till we started previewing the 2025 NBA draft give credit to our colleague Cal Boon who handles a lot of the NBA draft coverage for CBS Sports when we did a mock draft for the Island College basketball earlier in the week he had Yannik being picked in the first round most people did not but Fe got it exactly right um 7 foot athlete that’s a good place to start now we’ll see what we what else we can do with it all right the first round of the NBA draft is in the books the last name Yannik Conan Netherhauser make sure you get his jersey if you’re a Clippers fan that’ll be a good one to have maybe he’ll be right maybe he’ll be an all-star maybe he’ll be Everybody’s an allar maybe he’ll be an all-star i’m just trying to help the folks who are trying to get excited look I didn’t have a first round pick in the Cavaliers cuz they traded them all you only had 64 wins i know well then then they got hurt in the playoffs thank you yeah then they end up losing but then everybody else got hurt so you’ll be the projected favorite heading into next season see the East is wide open so Cleveland this is for you hashtag let him know
