DRAFT REACTION: Timberwolves Get Joan Beringer at No. 17 | Wolves Roll Dice On Rim-Protecting Big

the Minnesota Timberwolves pick 18-year-old Jawan Baron Jay with the number 17 pick in the draft today on the show we’re going to break down what the fit in Minnesota is what it might do to Minnesota’s depth chart and what is the ceiling what is the expectation as well the floor and the ceiling really for a player like Baron Jay it’s all upcoming welcome in you are locked on Wolves [Music] you are Locked On Timberwolves your daily Minnesota Timberwolves podcast part of the Locked On Network your team every day hello and welcome to the Locked On Wolves podcast part of the Locked On podcast network your team every day my name is Ben Beacon i’m the host of Lockdown Wolves happy Thursday everybody hopefully you enjoyed night one of the NBA draft of course round two is tonight the Wolves have the number one pick in tonight’s round two we’ll see if that’s the case at least as of this recording they do we’ll see what happens over the next few hours leading into the draft i want to talk obviously today all about the Timberwolves drafting Jawan Baron with the number 17 pick i have a lot of thoughts on that perhaps you caught the video I did with the lockdown folks last night or my short on YouTube but I have a whole show to talk about it today we’re going to line up some guests here in the next few days to talk about the Wolves draft but I have scouting report stuff depth chart stuff um you know what what the floor and ceiling of this pick are for Minnesota it was a bit of a surprise to me um first of all that Baron Jay was on the board i think a lot of a lot of people had him you know a few weeks ago as maybe a second round pick he ra was up into like mid mid lottery really uh kind of the the 8 to 13 range on a lot of mock drafts and so I I I didn’t actually preview Baron on the show he wasn’t one of the 15 guys I covered there are a couple that I covered that are still on the board for 31 actually a few so we’ll talk about that later but lots to get to related to Baron Jay we’re going to do that on today’s show a big thank you off the top for making the show your first listen every day of course you can listen anywhere you can also watch on YouTube and you can also watch on the Lockdown Sports Minnesota app on both Roku and Amazon Fire TV all right so Jawan Being the tale of the tape on him if you will is he’s still only 18 years old he’s like a little over 18 and a half um he’s 6’11 and bare feet so he’s going to be playing at seven feet and apparently he’s still growing based on measurements over the last uh year I guess when he first kind of started on everybody’s radar as a prospect to now and his wingspan is nearly 75 it’s listed at 7 foot 4 and a half he’s an absolute just a physical specimen in terms of his size athleticism his length um and I that’s part of the reason he rose on a lot of mock drafts is because he measured bigger than what people expected him to so again he’s growing um the other thing that you would have seen if you watched the NBA broadcast is he’s only been playing basketball since 20121 so think about where you were in 2020 when CO happened at the bubble season this guy wasn’t even playing basketball then he got and and they said on the broadcast Giannis is his favorite player while the the Bucks won the championship like right after he started watching basketball so there you go um there is a little bit of Giannis to what he does defensively we’ll get into that a little bit more that’s not my comp i’m not saying he’s going to be honest the offense is nowhere near what Giannis’s was even when Giannis was drafted out of Greece as raw as he was but I just I think that’s interesting that that he’s his favorite player um and there’s a little bit of like this meteoric rise as a prospect being drafted in the teens um you know a little bit of an unknown young raw etc there’s a little bit of similar some similarities there um he he is a center but he’s more of like a you know he does he doesn’t have a whole big very big frame he’s he’s he’s not wiry he’s not spinly he’s not like crazily skinny or anything like that but he’s not built out right he’s 18 and he hasn’t played basketball very long and he obviously hasn’t been with a professional strength and conditioning staff for long and certainly not an NBA one so there’s a lot still to be unpacked there but from a physical frame standpoint athleticism um it’s it’s uh pretty perfect for what you’d be looking for he’s the best shot blocker in this draft as a prospect um like nobody else that I talked about or that you would have seen in this draft as as much as I love Thomas Sorber and he is a really good shot blocker like the instincts and all all that with with Baron Jay um are there like for a guy who’s only played for a few years and we’ll talk about his rebounding instincts which aren’t quite to where the shot blocking instincts are um he is he’s a really good shot blocker on the ball off the ball um has really good feeling for for what that timing needs to be as a helpside shot blocker and and that’s huge um he’s not going to be Rudy Gobear from day one and he may never be Rudy Gobear for a number of reasons but there is a bit of that when it comes to in fact his block rate last year prof or this last season professionally in nearly a thousand minutes across a couple different leagues was 8.3% which is nuts now obviously he was very likely the best athlete one of the best two athletes on the floor at any given moment in any game he would have played in over the last year so take that for what it is we can you know keep that as part of the evaluation here but an at 8.3% block rate would have been more than twice what Rudiggo Bears was on the Wolves um so easily the best on the Wolves it would have been second in the entire NBA to only Victor Womenyama it would have been a full percentage point or 0.9 percentage points.9% ahead of Walker Kesler and what 2.3 points ahead of Miles Turner and Anthony Davis who would have tied for who tied for third last year so it would have been second in the NBA easily and twice what Rudy Goars was now he’s obviously not going to have like a significant role on Extra’s Wolves team if he did that block rate would not stay north of 8% but I that just to give some context for how dominant he was as a shot blocker again a legit sevenfooter with a wingspan of nearly 7 and 1/2 ft awesome helpside shot blocker and the thing that impresses me the bo the most about him as a prospect is how fluid he is how not awkward he is for an an almost 19-year-old with a 75 wingspan and a 7 foot frame who’s still growing doesn’t look like a baby deer out there he’s fluid uh he’s flexible on both ends of the floor um the the fluidity in his hips which is something you hear about a lot in the NBA right with like or excuse me the NFL with like quarterbacks right can you flip your hips can you can you backpedal flip your hips and get back in coverage that’s the thing you have to do in the NBA too especially in pick and roll coverage you have to be able to um to flip your hips and force the ball handler where you want him to go to recover um to to defend in the fast uh in the open floor as well in a fast break situation all these things are super important and he’s really fluid for a guy that doesn’t have a whole lot of experience and that that is really encouraging to me for him as a pick and roll defender i think he’s switchable um I you know in the video I did right after the draft I maybe lean into that a little bit too much i don’t know that that’s necessarily like what you’re always going to try and do with Baron i think you want him to be in drop like which is what Rudy Goar primarily plays i think he’s going to be really good at hedging if you want him to hedge and recover because of the combination of speed athleticism length hip fluidity and again the youth too like he doesn’t have a billion minutes under his belt you know tread on his tires like a Rudy Goar tread off of his tires like Rudy Goar um I think he can be switchable i think he can be effective on the perimeter but if he wants you want him as your big in any sort of pick and roll coverage I think he could do it all i think he can hedge i think he can drop i think he can switch i think he can do all those things and there’s clearly going to be some learning curve in terms of of uh the actual nuts and bolts and you know strategy X’s and O’s I guess if you will of of learning the game of basketball given that he’s only been at it for like four years which is so crazy to me um but you wouldn’t necessarily know it if you watched his tape like he the only time that really crops up is when it comes to like rebounding i think sometimes there’s some positional stuff when it comes to rebounding that just comes with more reps like you just got to be on the floor more often and understand the angle that the ball comes off the rim if the shot comes from here the angle’s going to be here some of the anticipatory stuff the the boxing out needs a little bit of work but the sheer knows for the basketball the want to the the motor the length the athleticism that I’ve said a million times all that is there all that is there it’s just the reps and the understanding of where to be and when on some in some of these situations but again I was really impressed with how good he was on the perimeter and in pick and roll coverages for somebody that hasn’t played that much and his feel for the timing on on helpside blocks is all very impressive as well i want to talk about what I’d expect from him on the offensive end not necessarily this year because I don’t wouldn’t expect anything but in the next couple years like what does he project out as floor ceiling um on both ends really but we haven’t really talked offense yet and what’s the you know I’ll give a couple of kind of loose comps just based on on right now and and I reserve the right to to change that later we’re like this is right after the Wolves drafted him but just after my draft prep and then some additional digging here um like what I think what what who he reminds me of in the NBA currently and what’s the fit on the roster depth chart wise contractwise where the Wolves stand all that stuff is upcoming here next on the show today’s episode of Lockdown Wolves is brought to us by our friends at Wayfair there is nothing like stepping into your own outdoor space and feeling like you’ve escaped into a personal oasis if you’re wait wayfair v A Y F A.com Wayfair every style every home okay so if you’re wondering why I haven’t touched on his per game stats uh overseas it’s cuz I don’t care he played in 47 games over the last year in a couple different leagues and he averaged under five points per game actually under five rebounds per game as well it’s also important to point out the minutes played and this is something I think we’ve talked about on the show before but um go back and look at any European prospect you can look at Luca Don you can look at Ricky Rubio if you want to look at a Wolves guy these guys when they’re that young they don’t play significant minutes overseas because it’s it’s a bit of a um a seniority type thing like it really is like fair or unfair the guys who have who have earned their stripes tend to play more minutes the younger guys don’t so he was playing only 18 minutes a game now a little bit of that is foul trouble he does get into foul trouble and that’s a bit of a concern but again he’s not going to be relied upon to play 30 minutes a game or even 20 minutes a game or probably even 10 minutes a game next season so you know he’ll learn he’ll he’ll kind of fight through it in the G-League I’m sure and then if he gets a stint at the NBA level you only need him in short bursts anyway so I’m not super concerned yet about foul trouble i think understanding how that works will come with time but anyway back to the point on scoring he played under 50 games he played under um under 1,000 minutes overall and he averaged under five points per game he strictly is is a lob threat and a roll threat and a you know not even a great offensive rebounder but he scored a bit on on putbacks um activity around the rim is good in addition to the hit fluidity and I talked a little bit about how not awkward he looks given his size his frame and age and all that stuff i would say the same thing on offense like there’s no creation to speak of he’s not taking you off the dribble which is something that like even Giannis could do like I referenced him earlier um like Giannis did all that Greek freak stuff before he was drafted um Baron isn’t like he’s not attacking you off the dribble he’s just not like he’s not playing in the perimeter he’s not posting up he’s not doing any of that stuff but he’s a legit lob threat and a roll threat and I think he has better hands i’m not saying like right now he has better hands than Rudy Gobear but I think there’s more upside there as like he catches basically everything and the percentages around the rim are good around 60% um he doesn’t shoot free throws well which is you know not worrisome but like it’s a it’s a flag you have to pay attention to i wouldn’t even necessarily call it a red flag because again this dude’s not shooting jumpers he shot a handful of like elbow jumpers in games and it was just fine um the free throw percentage is was under 60% last year um that should be a little better you’re gonna I don’t think I need to worry about hacka hacka baron this year we we don’t need to worry about that at this point but down the road you’d like to see that improve and and Rudy’s improved incrementally over the years at the free throw line as well um but as an as an offensive player like what more do you want out of a big in today’s NBA like you don’t it’d be it’s nice to have a stretch big it’s nice to have a guy that can post but you don’t have to have Carlton Town’s skill set to be an effective big if you want a a guy who’s going to set screens and roll hard and and be active on the offensive glass like Baron Jay fits that like I mean it’s he’s not Tyson Chandler and that’s not my comp but like that type of a big right a a guy who’s going to dive to the rim set an effective screen and catch a lot at the front of the rim be active on the offensive glass back taps etc which I think Rudy is a is a backtapper to a fault where just use both hands man um and and and he doesn’t always try hard to offensively rebound i don’t hear that the wrong way the effort level the motor isn’t always there from Rudy Gobar on the offensive glass and I I think it will be from Baron so there’s some of those characteristics that are going to be really valuable he’s going to be the fifth option and that’s okay you need low usage type guys he’s you’re not drafting Baron Jay to be a big-time scorer and I honestly think like if we want to talk floor and ceiling I think the floor is pretty high like right now if you throw him an NBA floor he’s going to struggle foul trouble i think he’ll be okay defensively if if the Wolves said “All right you’re you’re a backup big or a backup five next year.” You’re not going to get anything on offense except for transition dunks and maybe a lob dunk and you’ll probably see some decent defense but some spotty work especially on the glass but like that’s not a terrible floor like I think he could be an okay backup big right now because he he defends so well and he defends the rim so well and he’s so athletic the floor is pretty high there is starter level upside and and I would even argue star level upside uh borderline star i just I don’t know that there’s ever going to be like a development to his offensive game where you’re like “All right this dude’s going to score 15 a game you know 1511 and three blocks and he’s going to be a star borderline all-star.” Like I don’t know he’s 18 like he may develop an offensive game but like I mentioned the name Tyson Chandler only because like the archetype of him being a a role big um and also being a a starter like a legit starter in the NBA I see that as a a realistic ceiling for him like is there a chance he becomes an all-star sure i think it’s more likely than not he’s just a really solid starting caliber player and um you know it may take him three years to get there honestly it may take him two years to even be a rotational big but there’s a lot of upside here for him to just be kind of a plugandplay longer term solve um as a center and we’ll get to like the roster fit and Rudy’s contract and some of that stuff in a minute but a couple names that stood out to me as as comparison points or or or comps I guess for in this year’s NBA nick Claxton is somebody along those same lines who I think is is a bit underrated by the the the average fan and then Jaylen Durant for like another kind of young bouncy big um are are guys who are kind of defense first rebounding active really good screeners good at diving to the rim good hands like that’s what I see out of out of Jan Berning i I see all of that um and and honestly like you could find clips of him not catching the basketball but I think there’s a lot of I think there’s a lot of upside to what um to to what his hands could be and and again the floor I think is solid there um so if he sees the floor you’re not counting him to score at all but what do you want your big like look at the best teams in the NBA and how many bigs are there that are like big-time scoring bigs like you don’t you don’t need that to win and obviously the Thunder of Chad Homegrren but like you know look at a guy like Isaiah Hartenstein not the same player at all but he doesn’t need the ball in his hands a lot he can be effect he’s a great screener and he has that float game he’s a good short roll passer like those types of things minus the floater is what you could get from Baron and low usage plays hard athletic long checks all those boxes outstanding plays hard on defense runs the floor on both ends we talked about running a little bit on offense in transition but he runs really well defensively to get back and that’s impressive to me as well um again from an activity standpoint from a athleticism standpoint he’s also a good two-foot jumper when he goes to block shots at the rim and and grab rebounds again positionally he’s a little bit off when it comes to rebounding but I think there’s a lot to like there from um from what he’s capable of doing as an athlete what he’s willing to do as far as playing hard and what he’s already done after only four years of playing the sport which is just so crazy um so I like the pick i was I was hoping for a wing like at the moment like Nick Clifford and and um uh Drake Powell were on the board who were two of my top three sorber had just gone to the Thunder of course Sorber was number one on my Wolves big board if you missed that he went two picks earlier to OKC i love Thomas Sorber i think there’s there’s more there certainly from an offensive standpoint and from a play now standpoint than there is with Baron but I would say the long-term floor for Baron Jay is just as high because I see the floor as a rotational big that’s a really good shot blocker and an effective you know roller on offense like you know Durin and Claxton durin certainly has has more upside sitting here right now than Claxton um and but I would say the same thing go about Baron like there’s upside there beyond this floor of like an active role big who’s a really good shot blocker i I just really like the idea here with Bran Jay and I’ll talk next a little bit about the methodology or not methodology I guess reasoning behind the selection why they would go with him over one of these wings and what that might mean emphasis on might mean for the rest of the offseason what I think Minnesota might do with pick 31 on Thursday we’ll do all that here next today’s episode of Black Dout Wolves is brought to us by our friends at Skiims when I found out that Skiims was making underwear for men I was intrigued i’ve heard a ton about their quality from friends and family i’d definitely seen commercials for Skiims and was curious about it so I had to give it a try and I’ll tell you it lives up to the hype um they actually sent a couple pairs and I tried on a couple of different types of Skiims and and honestly like I’ve always had issues with underwear i mean haven’t we all finding the ones that fit the best that are actually comfortable find the right style um Skiim’s changed all that their men’s line offers something for everyone they have boxer briefs all the way to classic briefs all designed with the perfect balance of comfort and style uh of the tri of the different types I tried when Skim sent them out I tried the stretch 5-inch boxer brief i like them to be a little bit longer i like boxer briefs um and they feel they’re um they don’t feel like you’re wearing like you know workout underwear something like that so if you’re active and and I don’t transparently don’t work out a lot but I’m active with my job i walk around a lot i’m active with my kids um and you know I don’t want to feel like I’m wearing something restrictive i don’t want to feel like I’m wearing something that feels like workout underwear and the stretch 5-inch boxer briefs give you all the movement that you need for working out and and for doing other stuff for for your active lifestyle um and are just super super comfortable they move with me they never lose their shape and they stay in place all day um running errands etc whatever it might be they’re the most comfortable and reliable underwear that I’ve ever owned plus the lightweight material feels amazing almost like you’re wearing nothing at all shop skims.com and let them know that we sent you after you place your order select podcast in the survey and select this show Lockdown Wolves in the drop- down menu that follows okay so closing the books on on Wednesday night and and to be clear uh we’re going to get back we’re obviously got a lot of time to talk draft guys we’ll get to see Baron Jay hopefully in Las Vegas summer league in a couple of weeks so um just real quickly setting up the next couple days of course we got round two today wolves are the first pick of the second round so anything could happen here minnesota I there’s decent chance they trade the pick uh my prediction coming in the draft is they would come out of it with one rookie and one future first round pick i think they could trade 31 for a future firstrounder i have no idea what their actual board looks like i mean you know looking at I’ll pull up my board real quick and we can look at what I have left on my board versus who is actually available and there were a lot of guys I purposely looked at guys that were likely to go um between picks 17 and 31 and sure enough we got a lot of guys in the 20s that went um that I really liked like Nick Clifford came off the board late in the round Thomas went before Minnesota Drake Powell was a late pick deon went very early in the draft as Newule went uh Noah Essen was gone trayori was gone danny Wolf got taken late jace Richardson went to Orlando uh so Maxim R Oh sorry mcneely got picked too so Maxim Reno is still out there uh Saraf is gone as well jamir Watkins is out there i thought he was a second round pick anyway noah Penda I felt the same way about that um and Adu Theoro I don’t believe got picked either so those guys are all still out there theo is maybe the only one and I guess you’re probably not gonna take him if you just took I mean he’s more of a wing than a big but given um an athlete who can’t shoot bit of a project i don’t know that the is a guy you’re necessarily going to take at 31 when you just took Baron um let’s see he’s the highest ranked guy i had him at eight on my board and he’s still there i had Reo at 12 and then I had Watkins at 14 and Penda at 15 so those guys are all still available i don’t know that the Wolves are going to be in love with any of those guys you know you’re probably not going to take another project at 31 so unless they like Jamir Watkins a great deal or can trade down and take Jir Watkins or if there’s a guy like that that could help on the wing um I could see them trying to trade that pick all it takes is one team to be like “Oh man we love Noah Penda’s upside we got to get to 31 it’s a non-g guaranteed deal because it’s the first pick of the second round.” And it’s it’s like the first to the second round in the NFL draft you can I mean they’re they’re the they’re the team that everyone’s talking to now that if they’ve fallen in love with the prospect and everyone’s going to try and out bid each other can Minnesota get a protected future first round pick for this or is there a prospect they’ve fallen in love with at 31 i think that’s super fascinating um so that’ll be something we obviously talk about on Friday’s show um if anything major happens trade-wise we’ll we’ll do something earlier on Thursday night uh you know anything involving a current player or you know anything like that but a lot to cover there real quickly to close out Baron Jay’s the conversation there for today related to the Wolves depth chart like uh the easy kind of lazy reaction be like ah Julius Randle Naz Reed both have player options well guess what yeah it’s a bit of an insurance policy I guess with Baron Jay but like uh he’s not playing Nasreed or Julius Randle minutes this year if one of those guys were to leave my prediction all along has been Julius Randle opts in and he plays out the year maybe he gets an extension or gets traded during the season but I think he’s on the team next year at that 31 million or whatever it is nas Reed I think will opt in and Minnesota will ultimately sign him to an extension i’m predicting that so they’ll both be on the roster next year probably Randall wouldn’t be after next year maybe he even gets traded in season those are all possibilities the bigger thing is Go Bear believe it or not even with the extension only has two years plus a player option left on his deal so next year the year after and then a player option for 38 million in 2027 at that point he’ll be 35 so I think it’s pretty likely he opts in there so you probably have three more years of Rudy 35y old Rudy i don’t know how mobile he’s going to be he has only lost what a quarter of a step maybe at this point guarding on the perimeter and and helpside block shots there were moments last year where he looked a little bit slow um but not a whole lot so I don’t know but the idea here is Baron can be ready in three to four years when Rudy decides to hang it up or when he’s you know no longer at least a starting center he can turn it over to his fellow Frenchman in Baron that’s the idea there because there are some similarities like he’s obviously offensively he’s going to be more of a um say more dynamic uh than Rudy Gobear he’s a better athlete than Rudy Gobear uh not quite as big but again the oppressive wingspan so that’s kind of the plan is is a bit of a succession plan for Rudy Gobear more than anything else um remember after assuming Randall and Reed are on the roster well I guess it doesn’t matter either way next season so not this upcoming one but the following one there’s only four guys under contract now five with Baron Jay Ant Goar Jay McDaniels and Dante Danchenzo is the last year of his deal would be the year after this one um which is another like there’s there’s a lot of question marks about about the the what Minnesota’s roster does next i think it’s it’s a really interesting thing that they’ve got four to five guys now with guaranteed money four years beyond and everybody else is like after this year they’re they’re there’s an option either a team option or a the ability to opt out or unrestricted guys like Mike Connley is an unrestricted guy after this year and obviously Randall and Reed will be too after this next year if they both opt in so um from a roster building standpoint I don’t know that it necessarily says anything to us like does it mean that Nikquil Alexander Walker is staying because they didn’t draft a wing no not necessarily because you can find another wing whether it’s at 31 or it’s um it’s you know it’s through free agency not necessarily fully replacing Alexander Walker but there’s also TJ Shannon right so I don’t think it necessarily says anything about what the Wolves think about it doesn’t mean that they think Randall Reed is gone and Nquille Stain i I don’t think it means that i I I think we’re talking about an 18 and a half 19year-old almost um so let’s not let’s not read too much into that but the upside of Baron combined with the floor is really attractive i I do I do believe that as much as I was a little bit surprised that a he was on the board and b Minnesota went the project route uh the floor I think is is perfectly reasonable all right we’ll do it again uh Thursday night wolves have 31 as we talked about but we’ll do a a YouTube short after the Wolves pick and um anything super significant maybe go live maybe do a show late Thursday and then that otherwise the show will post early on Friday with a reaction to what the Wolves do on Thursday night there’s always the chance like I said that they trade 31 and then we don’t even get a pick on Thursday and we’re going to just speculate a bit further going to try and line up some uh Wolves related folks um podcasters uh bloggers etc and then also some some draft an analysts to talk about Baron and and what that fit with Minnesota looks like to get somebody else’s perspective here if not for Friday depending on what happens in the second round we’ll look at early next week reminder this show is daily still throughout the month of July as well um and then in August we’re still three times a week so we got you for summerly we got you for free agency whatever 1. Getting a defensive big was a priority. I think Sorber would have been fine (if his toe is okay), but although Sorber had great instincts and is strong, he is not the athlete Beringer is. We have to hope Beringer's BB IQ develops. I don't want him to be a XL version of Minott. The other thing we need is a young point guard with size (no offense to Dilly).

  2. One can never have enough centers. Unless you have more than any other position on the roster and none are upper-tier scorers. If we had a 1 or 3 in that tier, this would be a fine pick. As of now, the roster is lacking point-getters.

  3. He definitely does have better hands than Rudy. He has elite hands and it's Rudy's biggest weakness. That's not a slight to Rudy. Beringer has better hands and feet than Rudy. Rudy needs to teach him screening and defensive stuff. Learn from Rudy this year, back up Rudy next year and take over in Year 3.

  4. I think Beringer is a mispick for sure, especially with Jaku on the board still. It’s Connelly so we’ll see but we better be going Fleming at 31 tomorrow

  5. If all he becomes is a G League player this year, I pray Connelly has something up his sleeve. Why would we run it back with a team that got embarrassed by OKC? Are we convinced we can get past Houston? What about San Antonio? And even LAL and Denver? Where is the offensive help for ANT?

Another season with Rudy, Randle, and Connelly could be extremely painful.

  6. Man I told y’all. I just knew this front office would love this kid and I do too. The best hips I’ve seen on a 7 footer in recent years. Just so fluid

  7. Go back to the Thomas Sober episode and I said he would be my guy to look out for. You don’t just find fluid athletes at that size often, the comp for me would be a raw Derick Lively.

  8. Idk what some people are looking at but I definitely see the vision
His hands & coordination around the rim is very good so the offensive upside is promising

Defense is the identity of the Wolves & this guy has potential to be a monster

Also not going PG here I think shows they have trust in Rob Dillingham

  9. Jesse Edward’s will be off the team, Beringer will do two years in the G league because he’s young but Wolves will get him on the bench his second year to learn under Gobert. Should be a good foundation player unless he can get shooting at a top rate and beef up a little.

  10. What a wasted pick! Walter Clayton was right there and they passed on him! Another draft blunder for the wolves
