DRAFT DAY TRADES! Suns Acquire Mark Williams, Grizzlies Make Moves & MORE!

how are you guys enjoying the NBA draft right now where there’s not a ton of spoilers out there like we’re used to over the last number of years and the funny little oh they are lasered in on so and so that WoJ was doing and all that stuff anyway let me know in the comments but we do have a few trades that have popped up most importantly up to this point there’s another one that just popped up as I’m talking here the Atlanta Hawks are trading a pick we’ll cover that when we’re fresh I guess um most importantly Mark Williams getting traded so Phoenix had been in the market for a big yeah they picked up Nick Richards and I know I don’t think this changes anything with Nick i don’t think they’re going to trade him despite they als the the fact they also drafted a big but they wanted Nick to be a backup center for them and that’s fine but they picked up Mark Williams and so despite all of the controversy around Mark last year whenever he was traded to the Lakers and there’s a lot of he said she said but I think we ultimately with the last bit of information we got got a little bit of insight that they maybe did pull away from that they got a little bit of cold feet and that’s fine but whatever ultimately despite all of that stuff with Mark Williams he is still netting two first round picks and yeah one of them is the 29th pick this year in this draft that’s happening right now so it’ll be one of the last picks today but still that tells me that we are in a absolute sellers market these teams that have these guys are able to ask these teams for whatever they want right and I think that Mark is an extremely talented player but I think with his health concerns I don’t know that I’d be personally willing to do that but there are some stipulations on it so we’re going to get into that now the Charlotte Horn Charlotte Hornets excuse me are trading Senator Mark Williams to the Phoenix Suns for the new number 29 pick uh tonight and a 2029 firstround pick sources tell ESPN the 2029 firstrounder is the least favorable of Cleveland Utah and Minnesota one through five protected sources said size was a problem for the Suns last season and they address it in a big way with Williams and Kan Malawak um Hornets net two first rounders as well so on the Hornets I really like that for them they’re doing exactly what they need to be doing they’re rebuilding just keep on acquiring as many assets as you possibly can and maybe there was too big of a rift after trading him and then having to bring him back but between them and Mark but ultimately I think they’re making the right decision right and Mark is somebody that I think again very health are very talented just not healthy you wish he’s very healthy and maybe he’s going to get to a point where that’s the case you have to wonder about what was in that report that the Lakers saw that scared them away ultimately but Adam Silver chimed in at the time and said all that stuff is objective you know you can get one person to say this one person get says that that’s why you get second opinions and all that stuff so ultimately I guess we won’t know until whatever happens happens I guess i don’t know but ultimately though for the Suns I do like that pickup and I I’m curious to see what they’re going to do another trade just happened i’m curious to see what they’re going to do um this year with the rest of their roster because they’ve got a really weird mix they’ve all of a sudden added in a couple bigs tonight again they had Nick uh they lost a bigger player in KD so there’s that that’s a little bit of size gone of course but they replaced it but they’ve got like 10 guards on their ro 10 wing players on the roster and it’s just like yeah I think at that point it’s just too many of these guys so maybe you need to consolidate that a little bit uh and I’m curious to see what they do with that ultimately you know on Mark like I’ve been saying I think he’s really good he put up 15 points 10 rebounds two and a half assists in 26 minutes per game but the problem with Mark is that he’s been in the league for three years he has a season where he played 43 games season where he played 19 games and then last year he played 44 games so that’s kind of what you’re in for a little bit here with Mark and and you’ve got to wonder if he’s able to finally put things together and stay healthy for a prolonged period history would say no but you know things can change for Mark and hopefully that is the case um and then on common Malawak I actually really like the fit here um defensive minded big for them and he’s going to be a nice big for them to have on the roster he was that’s more what I would think would be the archetype they need like for example there were rumors at one point about like Rudy Goar back when they were still trying to trade KD and I low-key kind of liked the fit um even though Rudy’s got stone hands not the best offensive player that’s fine i thought that a defensive-minded big next to Booker would be perfect right and you could fill out the rest around that so they have that here uh rookie yes but still right you take what you can you build around that it’s just interesting when they’re getting younger guys like Amaloak and yeah you need younger guys as part of your core but you know I still just wonder what they’re going to do with some of the other guys because they’ve got a lot of 29 30 year old guys on the roster all right so there are more like picks that have happened the Blazers are Did another one happen man another one just happened i got to refresh the p what is happening since I started recording everyone decided oh let’s just make a bunch of trades let’s just do all this stuff um okay so where were we at this I’m sorry this is not planned and uh they’re going crazy right now so the Portland Trailblazers are trading Cedric Coward uh at number 11 to the Memphis Grizzlies so nice pick up for Memphis of course the Grizzlies however in this trade are sending number 16 a 2028 first round pick via Orlando and so the pick they just got I imagine um so they’re sending number 16 today the first round pick via Orlando and two seconds to Portland for Cedric it’s kind of interesting you know going over the profile for him he seems like he’s kind of like a Bane replacement you know similar sized guy but ultimately just the skill set supreme shooter comfortable off the bounce all those things so I like what they’re trying to do here ultimately if you’re Memphis you know trying to replace that and you did have to give up some assets for it but you got a lottery pick and you’re still young enough to have him as part of your core with the other guys that are going to be around so I think this is a nice pickup for them ultimately um getting back to it the Hawks are trading number 13 in the draft to New Orleans for the number 23 pick so they wanted to move back 10 spaces and an unprotected 2026 first round pick the most favorable one between New Orleans and Milwaukee so the Hawks moved back 10 spots to pick up 23 and an unprotected 2026 next year so okay okay okay and it’s between New Orleans and Milwaukee all right i the most favorable of those I both of those t Well what happens with Milwaukee remains to be seen but both of those teams are going to try to be competitive they must have not had anybody that they really liked at 13 sometimes teams also make this decision based on the fact that they need to have certain things happen on their caps so I’m not sure if that’s the case here but this could be a situation where they didn’t have somebody that they were dead set on i still think on the Hawks portion of it though that they’ve still got quite a bit of building to do they’re not in a position to go as far as they would like to go ultimately so we’re going to have to see what they decide to do and maybe maybe this is a precursor to something else them picking up some assets that’s another possibility here they could use these to flip them into something else um New Orleans acquired Derek Queen at 13 as well as part of that so that’s pretty good for them essentially Atlanta has moved back 10 spots and picked up a potentially valuable 2026 firstrounder so yeah I think that’s all of it but yeah that pick next year assuming they do keep it could be really good but similarly to what I was saying about some of the other teams earlier I think that the Hawks are in a position where they need to start trying to pivot towards having what they need on the roster instead of like trying to get more assets and all that stuff so looking at it I mean ultimately they’ve still got a few decisions to make if you’re Phoenix you don’t have a point guard uh Jake Fischer actually just tweeted that Vasil Misich is heading back to Charlotte as part of this trade with Mark as well so a little bit of cap matching salary matching there I guess but ultimately you know Phoenix I think is the real one that I want to talk about you know all these are good these are good decisions from these teams there are a lot of different incentives it’s kind of hard to break it all down without digging into each one as I go so bear with me on that but for Phoenix I know that I’ve talked about them a good bit and you know on the heels of making the KD trade I think that they picked up some stuff that they can obviously use ultimately but if they’re still dead set on trying to build around Devin Booker then they’ve got a number of decisions to make and ultimately I think the next thing for them to do is to consolidate some of that wing rotation backcourt wing rotation and get get in there more of like a playmaker type i would look for them to maybe try to get somebody like a DLO if possible i think he’d be a good fit there on that team um he’s also being linked to teams like um Mavs right now like the Mavs right now so kind of a few things ultimately but that is everything that we have in today’s video one last refresh cuz it it was supposed to just be a Mark video and then it’s like “Oh we got this oh we got that oh we got this oh we got that.” So how much more popped up nothing okay perfect all right guys hope you all enjoyed if you did make sure you hit that thumbs up and you subscribe let me know in the comments how you feel about the Mark Williams trade ultimately and which of these trades is your favorite but I didn’t talk much about it but Queen is a pretty fun one as well so we’ll see what happens with all these trades and hopefully we’re done i don’t want to have 10 more in one video i that I can’t do it it’s too much

In this video Donnie Freeman covers the news that the Phoenix Suns and Charlotte Hornets make a trade!

  1. Bulls nation is kinda split with drafting Noa instead of Queen. The reports were saying that the Bulls had no interest in Queen. Ace was not happy when Utah called his name.

  2. Good for the Suns; they are atleast a team that’s actually been trying to win and be competitive unlike the trashy Lakers organization that thinks a front court of Luka and a gleague guy like AR is competitive!!!!!

Why does Rob have a job in the NBA??

  3. This trade show how much of an overpay Rob's nixxed trade was.

    – DK > #29
    – LA's unprotected 1st > a protected 1st that's the worst of 3 teams.
    – Plus LA was giving a pick swap.

  4. I guess the Charlotte was not that thrilled and "excited" for MW coming back after the rescind trade despite the letter they posted 🤣

  5. Suns didn't give up much to take a risk with Mark Williams – have him for 1 season can evaluate him on the cheap and decide whether to keep him or not next year !

  6. Kawhi is more responsible for the Lakers 2020 title than Pelinka. Once he's fired, people will look at his time and wonder if he was that bad on purpose.
