oh no damn comparing him to D wade i hate when they do that man they said DW victory on the depot yo what up Knicks nation welcome to another KFTV NBA draft watch party you already know what it is we have to get correct the Knicks don’t have a pick in the first round will they surprise us tonight who the hell knows maybe they’ll even do a trade we’ll figure it all out that’s why we are here excited it’s the annual um with especially with me and CK with the with the book night stuff so it’s always We got book night [ __ ] like no other you know 100% bro it’s it’s trade night that’s what it is man we looking for these trades see what happens we’re going to see a lot of shaking and moving like we see a lot of things happening that’s going to impact the league it’s it’s it’s a it’s a fun time absolutely a fun time as you guys already know who are tapping in cooper flag goes number one overall to the Dallas Mavericks no shocker there and the San Antonio Spurs just continue to get richer as Chris and CK were just discussing backstage getting Dylan Harper not Derek Harper one of the strongest hitting safeties in the league no they got Dylan Harper that’s who they got tonight so what what do you guys think about Dylan Harper man we We could go We already know about Cooper Flag right there there’s enough of that about that but how we all feel about Dylan Harper to the Spurs the rich get richer yeah right and for that reason I hate it i’m Exactly i’m going say I’m going to say for that reason I hate it because now I feel like this is a situation where maybe you’re not necessarily stunning his growth because you know that they will develop him but it’s like we you know who knows how much of him we’re going to see because of the situation he’s in we talked like you said we talked about it with the De’arren Fox thing rookie of the year in Castle right there and now I hate it for that reason but at least you know with San Antonio they going to develop them that’s their thing that’s their mo we we I might not get them this year we might might see him more you know down the line but for the right now I hate it as we see right now the Sixers choose VJ i don’t want to butcher his names chris how do you pronounce his last name vj Edgecom edgecom vj from uh he played at Long Island Lutheran like I I remember I did a uh um I was writing for like a high school like uh high school players uh site and I remember writing about him as a junior and he was not even I don’t even think he was ranked and and I was like “Yo you got to watch out for this.” That’s why this one I I I I I uh you know I know it’s the Sixers but like this one like I I I really like like this pick because you know I wrote about him before he was even ranked and to see him progress so much where now he’s the third pick in the draft it’s cool it’s cool seeing that you know that uh that growth from him cuz he’s his game is like I said he was unranked and then went from being unranked to the number a top five prospect you know coming out of high school and then going to Baylor doing his thing and now he’s a top three pick so you know I hate that he’s a sixer i hate that he’s a sixer but I love to see his growth because he was not highly ranked just a few years ago and now he’s the number three pick in the draft and like I said I writing about him you know when they were asking me like “Yo find find some under the radar prospects in New York City.” And I would write about a couple guys and he was the one guy like something about this kid and it’s it’s dope seeing him you know his growth these last few years so like I said it sucks that he’s a Sixer but it’s cool seeing him that he’s a third pick in the draft now what do you think CK no happy for him happy for him you know uh we we were fresh off of the um Shador Sanders watch you know looking at the Ace Bailey situation so I was curious which way they were going to go and yeah they went with VJ and I’m not mad at it um unlike the Spurs pick makes sense but like Chris said it sucks where he is going because you never want to see the Sixers do something right but um yeah like the kid good good kid player um you know he’s one of those um I can’t wait to use him on 2K kind of guys for me personally can’t wait to use him on 2K he said he’s the best athlete in the draft too like he’s a freak athlete like it’s going to be crazy yeah he’s he’s going he’s he’s a he’s a tremendous athlete he needs to work on his his his handle a little bit can’t go to the left right now but you know he still overall and he could he could he can lock up too so you know good two-way player for the Sixers that type of pairing with Max and when you think about his speed you think about uh Edgecom’s athleticism you know if you get Joel Embiid healthy for a full season who knows what Paul George you know you see on Twitter people are saying Paul George don’t worry man you’re gonna be a Brooklyn Net tonight don’t worry no speak that team interesting even though they were underwhelming this past year that’s an understatement hey man and with the way the East is looking I mean we just saw Tyresese Hallebertton you know hopefully he gets better recovers well i mean how many guys did we see just in the playoffs go down we saw Tyresese Hallebertton Damen Lillard you know you also see Jason Tatum so the East is open and so with the Sixers making this pick you’re not expecting a rookie to come in and make you know a crazy amount of impact but if he could just get some hustle play play solid defense which I’m sure that’s what the Sixers are looking for god knows if he starts or if he comes off the bench uh that’s just it’s going to be interesting for them man I’m curious to see how this all shakes out uh with them just because right now you got the New York Knicks you know I know this is a Simo cast but you got Chris wearing a Knicks hat i’m wearing my KFTV hat you got CK with the Knicks banner in the all right this what this draft at this point the draft is like all right who’s going to make some good moves who looks like a competent team who’s going to you know compete with the Knicks next year man because the East looks wide open it’s for the taken it’s for the taken especially because of those injuries you just mentioned because the timing of them they going to be without you know Hallebertton you like you like you said speedy recovery for sure but they’re going to be without him for some time tatum not sure what the little thing you know so yeah it it’s wide open in the East right now which is why I’mma reiterate I’m paying attention to these trades today i’m paying attention do you guys think there gonna be a lot more trades i mean we already saw you know KP going down to Atlanta we see George Nyang i know he was the headliner with with Mann going uh to uh to Boston see Drew going out to Portland you know you see Anthony Simon going to Boston seeing all these trades happen right now you got has any trade stuck out to you guys so far i hate that Simons is on the Celtics bro i hate it that’s That’s the one i mean obviously a lot of big moves um you know we could talk about the KD stuff that’s West but it’s you know Yeah yeah yeah but the s I I hate since we’re talking about hating VJ D getting drafted by um uh Philly I hate um Anthony Simons on the Boston Celtics so much so much but yeah that’s the one that stuck out to they needed scoring they needed they need another guy who can create good pickup they do they did need scoring i’m I’m actually kind of intrigued at how Atlanta looks if that team actually stays healthy that’s the intrigued i’m not there yet man i’m intrigued man yeah I’m intrigued i’m intrigued too i’m not there yet but like I’m I am I’m interested what they do today i’m not a believer i’m not saying I’m a believer i’m just intrigued man you know for sure you know you just you know sometimes you’re just cruising down the street you see a new restaurant pops open you know you never heard of it before but you know you’re you glance over and you’re like “It’s interesting i might go over there check it out you know from time to time who knows?” But you know just catches your eye a little bit that’s all I’m saying you know what team got me like that um after somebody was mentioning it to me Queens shout out to Jamaic Queens in the chat you know what team got me like that you know I was looking at I’m like “Huh I’m interested.” Uh is is Washington they they got veterans over there that’s a weird statement and it’s not like they just got like end of the the the an end of their career kind they got some good solid pieces i mean mind you they got to stay healthy because they do got some injuryprone veterans but they got veterans over there along with a a nice um hall of young guys that have been showing out last year of names that probably people the regular casual Hooper does does not know of like the Georgees the Bal’s the um what’s my boy’s name bub Carrington like they got some names over there where I’m I’m looking at Washington like hold on now y’all y’all kind of did something okay yo yo and guys coming off the books too yeah right right guys are coming off the books within this year and next year so like I think they they they might be finally figuring it out and watching figuring out how basketball work right right that’s why I’m they might be finally figuring it out and with the Hornets selecting fourth pickle going to Charlotte what do you guys think about this uh selection man I was hearing a lot of Conan Nipple was going to be like top five and so this I thought as high as three some people said as high as three so him going here he’s a he’s a better fit than like an Ace Bailey uh he he he’s a he’s behind him and like Kobe Bray like there’s an argument for them those two guys being the best shooters in the class uh he’s strong he you know he doesn’t he’s not going to pop you with that his athletic ability but you know he he he’s sneaky he he’ll sneak up on you and keep yamming on you you know he’s one of those sneaky you know athletic guys uh but he could he could shoot man and especially when Flag got hurt he took over like he really showed his his uh his taking guys off the dribble and obviously his shot making ability and underrated defensive player you know not not going to be anything special but like can hold his own so I think this I I kind of this is a good fit um uh for Charlotte he What do you think CK this is the least Hornets thing that I thought they would do because Acely just screams that Charlotte Hornets young boy swag kind of thing that they’re doing where they don’t care if it’s if it equals winning but it’s just they new ownership ck my point and that’s my point they’re showing that they actually mean business nothing against Ace Bailey i’m not saying that but like like Chris was just saying I don’t know if Ace Bailey is what they necessarily needed um for their squad so you know it’s it’s a it’s a solid pickup i like what they’re doing there again they got a lot of things you know this is probably one of a thousand that they got to do to get that ship right but um yeah yeah like I said this is just the least hornet thing that I was expecting and I mean that in a compliment almost you know what I mean yeah they eventually you got to take things serious as a franchise like it’s just at some point right it’s just it’s just they don’t take things serious like and everyone says it like anyone you talk to is like yo they just don’t take it serious like LaMelo is not a serious player you know Oie Bridge is not a serious like you have a bunch of unserious players so it’s time to like you know stop being the butt of all jokes and like let’s let’s actually get players who can actually have high IQ know how to play basketball and let’s let’s go like let’s stop being a joke so you know this is hopefully this is the start for them i hope so i’m rooting for I like Charles Lee i’m a fan of him as a coach it’s just he’s a good coach that he got a crazy uh deck handed to him when he got that job so you know I hope that that doesn’t define the kind of coach that he is going forward so we’ll see man we’ll see but uh good pickup pick up and you got LaMelo Ball you got Brandon Miller i mean you got Josh Green out there Miles Bridges Mark Williams what do you see what do you see Caniple fitting in is he a starter is he coming off the bench what do you guys think happens to him bench bench cuz they got He’s probably coming off the bench for right now they’re solid at the wing right now i know they’re young and stuff but yeah no he he coming off the bench at least for right now okay okay add some shooting next to Brandon Miller you know needing more scoring out there in Charlotte but as you said as you guys were talking about Ace Bailey didn’t I mean that sounded so like Sean it’s like hey a guy that did not want to show up to workouts you know turning down turning down things man i mean like that just sounded hornets back michael Jordan would have been like you know what that guy’s got attitude that’s what I need yep yep yep yep but hey not anymore man not anymore let’s get back to some of these uh trade talks man because you know you talked about the Wizards getting some veterans on that side uh and look I like the way that they’re trying to maneuver i mean how does that impact the pick for the Knicks is like if they’re an actual serious team you know with with they have a top eight protection does that actually convey if they’re you know a playing team and actually do something right that’s something that intrigues me with that team but then on the opposite side you got the Pelicans and the Pelicans said “You know what who we want to pair with uh DeJonte Murray and Zion Williams?” Jordan Pool bro I don’t know why but just if you guys play pickle ball you know who I This is what I think when I think of those three like these dudes like very young generation pull up with like the short short very bright and vibrant shorts and it’s just about vibes man they not really don’t really care they’ll get a little angry that they’re not winning but it just feels like they’re more so about vibes while they’re out there that’s That’s kind of how that team feels to me right now what do you guys think about the the Pelicans side of that trade i don’t I I the Pelicans what we just said about the Hornets is what the Pelicans feel like to me man i I I don’t know the vision i don’t know it’s just it it’s so crazy with um Griffin as their GM like I I I don’t know what they’re doing i I They fired him that’s right so it You know what i I take it all back it all makes sense go ahead you’re right my fault joe Dors is I forgot bro i don’t know man like I Who thinks Dors is interesting he’s He’s He’s always been an interesting kind of like Anyways Anyways yeah uh George and De Jonte Murray next to each other like the words that Chris just said interesting it’s an interesting front court i think uh I think it it’s all trying to put your chips into uh trying to for 26 for next year’s I I don’t think Zion’s going to be there i think they’re just trying to wait for the right opportunity to move him but uh I think they’re trying to just you know it’s a new GM like I said um obviously the Zion stuff just hasn’t worked he just hasn’t been on the court enough and it’s just like when he has they’re like you know they’re like a top four seed but it’s just he’s not playing enough and like at this point it’s like all right this is five years of this and like how much more we going to do another year like all right and then we go through the same stuff like I think it’s you know we’re just going to try to shoot for the you know uh the hit hit the lottery next year because just like this year next year has a a chance to get a true couple blue chip guys you know so I think that’s what they’re going to be doing you know so uh yeah I think Zion’s gonna get moved I think just putting themselves in position to you know get the best chance to get a high pick next year it feels like this team could either go in two directions one it could either be a lot of fun interesting to watch with that roster or it can go completely wrong and you know they’re the new Washington Wizards and they probably win like 17 games because guys are either missing time not playing seriously enough who the hell knows and now we got the pick in coming for the Utah Jazz let’s see uh who they are about to select ace who do we Who do we think i’m going to go I’m going to go with uh Trey Johnson oh Ace Bailey wow goes to the Utah Jazz did Did Allan Silver just hit him with a nickname in the call he said aerial Ace Bailey that’s his real name oh is it really yeah it’s his real name ace is is his his nickname is his nickname his real name is Okay it just shows you like everything we heard it’s all just smoke screen it’s just all to just try to get your guy you know like we heard all this stuff and you would have thought he would have dropped to the 20s the way he was getting talked about and he still goes top five yeah you know been like what who who who like you think like a Cam Whitmore situation where a guy who could play well but then like you just hear all the bad stuff coming out you’re like want that but I I could understand Cam Whitmore more dropping than Ace like Ace talentwise like like I think Cam I had Cam Whitmer top five so I was high on him but I can see why people were kind of low on him where Ace is like I know he the efficiency stuff is like some people worried about it but like it’s also the scheme like he didn’t play in a really good scheme at Ruters like and everything needs context too like he’s playing with he’s playing with Harper but the other guys are like they’re going to end up being accountants and stuff so you know there’s a there’s a you know there’s that that’s why with college stats you can’t just read into college stats because they lie a lot you know it all dependent on you know the system you play in the players you’re playing with you know so like he’s a top he’s a top he might be the best talent in this draft like he has a crazy upside you know so it’s just a matter of just refining his game and and just getting him more you know under under control uh so you know and they needed to they just like the Nets which is I’m surprised the Nets didn’t try to move up they needed a high upside guy because they have a bunch of good guys like good young players but they didn’t have that one guy who like “Yeah if he hits special.” Like they have a bunch of guys if they hit they’ll be good players but they needed a guy like him so I understand that ck do you think Utah is the right place for Ace Bailey in And you know in theory Utah’s such a boring organization but it’s that same thing like I was talking about with like San Antonio like they’ve they’ve done a good job with the younger talent that they’ve had outside of we still I don’t feel like we saw Cody Williams at all last year but that’s neither here nor he got hurt that that that’s okay just wanted to make sure but yeah I I mean fitwise I mean he it’s wide open for him at his position at I mean you could probably slide him in and start him right away um you know they got um what’s my boy’s name that’s uh coaching that uh Dwayne Wade loves so much um oh my god I forgot his name that’s coaching Utah right now oh um uh ah it’s good not Will i was thinking of a different coach um no um yeah i either way young young coach that they you know they got from the Hardy you talking about Thank you thank you thank you thank you so you know he he’s he’s doing a solid job with the younger players so again development wise you know Utah’s in no rush to get anywhere um like I said he’ll slide right in um I I I’m not upset with that pickup at all you know like I said Utah’s just a boring team sometimes for me does does Utah trade some guys though that’s the question because that’s the because right now you got you got Kier you got Sexton Markin Collins Kesler you got Keonte George Clarkson you got Hrix you know there’s there’s a lot of guys out in Utah and they’ve been you know they’re competitive it’s interesting like if you watch them they’ve been they were a competitive team but they were just not you know they just weren’t winning games they were in games but they just weren’t winning so yeah where do they fit with Ace in this in this like what’s the outlook with Ace going for this team that’s going to be the bigger question because they could either do a wholesale and say “Hey get rid of Ston Marketing Collins you know you can still keep Kessle because still need a defensive center.” Or maybe you sell high on him but do you strip it all down say Will Hardy we’re giving you another team to work from or that’s the that’s the bigger question what direction does Utah go yeah I think Colins’s got to go and I think I think they gota you know while while the stock is still high on him they got to move market in in my opinion like you said Kesler I know that there’s always those rumors around him but I feel like he’s fine where he’s at i think I think you continue to you know develop with him there um again unless that offer you get that phone call for the right offer then you know do what you got to do but if I’m if for who needs to go and I feel like that they need to take the opportunity while John Collins is still a commodity among some teams you you flip him and I think marketing same thing i think while they’re still you know talkable or guys that you you can flip and possibly get some more draft picks or get another piece um those are two names I’m looking at uh Colin Ston to honorable mention but it mainly for me it’s Collins and and marketing that you got to look to move what do you think Chris you think who are you moving any of those guys are you doing what CK’s doing you moving out you wholesaling starting fresh yeah I could see them uh cuz uh Collins just he opted in i think he was making like 25 26 so he just opted in sexton is always I feel like he would be so much more appreciated on a playoff contender like he I I just think he’s a big- time player like I remember at Alabama he was three on five like go you know at one game where everyone got ejected and it’s him and he almost won the game two other guys going against five like I always go back to that like he’s just a dog and like I feel like he could help a team so I think they could you know flip him and and Lori I don’t know what they’re doing with Lori i didn’t think they gave him an extension they gave him an extension i I don’t know danny Ang is just is a very strange individual individual you know you don’t know how to read him you know um so I I don’t know you know the Kesler it feels like Kesler has been on the block since they drafted him you know you know so I don’t know um I would keep Kesler i think Kesler is a you know a big- time rebounder obviously a tremendous you know rim protector i don’t know why you would try to trade unless you get like CK said unless you get like a insane offer like five first round picks you know so hey that could still be an option man we got C shout out to the captain himself cp’s in the chat cp will be joining us uh in a bit all right but CP is saying “Hey Ace ain’t too happy when you’re looking at the camera at him he doesn’t look thrilled.” It didn’t look that way he said he didn’t want to go there but you know hey you don’t have any you don’t have any control to CP’s point Nets might trade for him is what he’s saying hey they could you know the Nets could still make a deal they got so many draft picks at this point like that’s why I’m I mean it could still happen obviously but I I was surprised that they weren’t uh aggressive trying to move up but like I said it also Utah and Danny A so they might have wanted all the picks all the first round picks this is what I’m saying hey maybe they offered you know behind these closed doors like hey we’ll give you we’ll trade you we’ll swap you eight for five and we’ll give you another pick and maybe it’s hey sweating these guys out saying you know what in the end I want all five of your picks if you want ace that badly exactly yeah yeah for sure a very Danny H thing so that wouldn’t shock me but the thing is I mean I’m not trying to tell Danny what to do but if you’re trying to go for all five man I mean unlike that’s going to happen maybe you got to settle on three four right you gota you got to compromise man got to compromise who knows does Ace even you know as a rookie he try pulling a Eli Manning you know say “Hey man you drafted me i don’t I mean he can’t go back to school but it’s like hey man I’m not going to play i’m not going to show up.” round man like money money but who’s tuning in to night two who people like me yeah but we are hating I’m a sickle like that but with the second round with Chris LeBron I think I think you know once they did it last year because they let’s be They did it last year because of Bronny right and now it’s going to give you a rating so they were just like “All right let’s just keep trying it and and until it if if the ratings are down it’s not worthy then we’ll stop it.” But why stop it if it’s going to keep generating more money they still bring players in like they do another version of you know like Adam Silver they have like I think the deput guy and so they do like a you know with the players so they the players have that moment too in the second round you know so I guess but you know I wish it was just one one day but you know we know you know they want money so makes sense devil’s advocate you could say that you know you might get potentially more of the trade buzz in day two you know like you you could make that argument because of the infamous you know so the draft becomes background noise is what you’re telling me now yeah 100% so they can still have a arena to show it live when this or that happens but yeah 100% like Chris said it’s all financial bro yeah i don’t know like last year they did it like at But the thing is with the timing they did it like at 400 PM last year like that’s like who’s home from work 4 p.m on like a Thursday it’s like wait I just like why are you doing it that time like like do it at night at least so at least people are home and they can you know while they’re cooking or Yeah yeah yeah you know you got a background music right you just like oh you know you know like so maybe that and but they need to do a better job of if they the two days you want to do two days do a better job of letting people know uh have more information about the guys who could potentially be in the second round cuz most people don’t know who this is going to be they don’t know who you know Elijah Martin is or Zoko Zakarsski or any of the these guys so they needed to do a better job of promoting those guys so you so you can have more people tuned in to the second round if you’re going to h obviously if you’re going to have it so I wish they did a better job but the NBA does you know they do their own thing man you know they do their own thing and then and look they I asked the question who are they doing the second day for us and uh shout out to Rune uh shout out to uh respect Shaq shout out to Will Rosie said us because we are in the second round so we are we will have uh we don’t have to wait until you know uh the middle of the night to see who the Knicks select with the 50th pick and who knows maybe they move up into the second round and uh select somebody who knows what trade day action could happen tomorrow that’s why we’re tuning in and look another draft just happened we got Trey Johnson being selected by the Washington Wizards cam I’m going to start off with you this time what do you think about that selection for the Wizards i hope Chris has a way better breakdown because for me after everything I was saying about Washington I I’m a little curious about this one because a bunch of the names I mentioned about Washington with the younger side play in that same position so I’m a little curious here why i know I know they traded away pool but I thought they traded pool away to highlight those Bub Carringtons and you know Bal and but again uh you know you you can’t have enough um as we talked about with San Antonio um Trey Johnson a hell of a talent so I get that but yeah I’m gonna need Chris to break this one down for me because I I I my my thoughts with with with P gone was you’re opening it up for those other young guards but now you just added another one to the room so uh curious there so what you got Chris just imagine Jordan P but more efficient efficient way more efficient that’s what you get with Trey Johnson that sounds like a really good player yeah so that’s like we’re if we’re going to do comparisons to make it easier like imagine Jordan Pull but he’s Jordan P’s last year with the Warriors when they won the championship like he was a more efficient player can actually play into the system you know you you could trust him with the ball in his hand he’s going to make the right decision right shot Trey Johnson’s an absolute bucket all three levels like I he was fourth on my board like uh fourth for fifth on my board u but he was top five for me like he he’s that I think he’s that good I think there’s potential for a playmaking upside i think he’s a he’s an absolute bucket he’s efficient i think he shot like 39% from three at Texas you know big shot played big in the SEC i mean first year I think this is Texas first year in the SEC and the SEC is maybe SEC in basketball is maybe the best conference ever in basketball for a single season like it was a gauntlet too and he shot the ball like the lights out of the ball and was a big time shot maker so yeah um and a more if if Jordan P was more efficient that’s what you can potentially get with uh with this uh with Trey Johnson so I I think you know um I heard a lot with Wizards and him and it makes sense cool all right well let’s see how it all plays out for We’ll see how it plays out for the Wizards man i mean they got a lot of young players the thing with them is that they just don’t know who’s going to stick right so you just got to as CK talked about like you just got to keep bringing in young talent got to create that competition see who pulls through and then hey then you can start deciding who you want to build around with that aspect i mean they got and you have Middleton there just put him in a room with Middleton cj McCullum hey CJ M’s a good C.J mccullum just soak it and like if he like if he could learn like stuff about you know how to get to his spots like Middleton can do like to me that this is a the Wizards are doing something they’re doing something like I know they wanted the top pick obviously and they didn’t get a top three pick but to get Trey Johnson with the sixth pick like that’s that’s good and then you have good vets around them like the Wizards are finally potentially figuring All right man let’s not go too far all right they got they got I said fine maybe maybe figuring things out maybe maybe they It’s a lot better situation they were just a few years ago they still got to they still got to go out there and go execute all right man they still got to go out there and go execute but you know what uh talk about execution talk about the Houston Rockets man the Rockets go out there get Kevin Durant and on paper this team looks legit especially with Kevin Durant you get that legitimate score that you need you trade Dylan Brooks you get rid of Jaylen Green you bring in soon to be Hall of Famer when he whenever he decides to hang up the laces right i actually like the Rockets move man i actually like them getting getting Kevin Durant the versat the outside of Fred Van Vleet being the starting point guard two to five there’s a lot of switchability on defense I actually like what they did but you know what on p it’s only on paper they got to go out there and go execute I know they were number two in the Western Conference last year took the Warriors to seven can they build off of that with Kevin Durant what do you guys think about uh Kevin Durant going to the Rockets I think it’s a good move I think you replace a uh inefficient shooter in Jaylen Green with maybe one of the most efficient shooters you know of all time especially at all three levels so they didn’t give up anyone else they didn’t give up Tari E they didn’t have to give up men Thompson you know Cam Whitmore they didn’t have to give up the number three pick last year Reed Shepard and you know they gave up a pick and that was it essentially and and you know um I think that’s a that that’s that’s a great hall that’s a great hall to get for KD and you know uh you know so that’s a that’s a good move and they just bring back Fred Van Vleet like I said they got some they got something going there great coach too and he made So I I like the move it’s worth it’s worth a shot absolutely worth a shot ck what do you think about the move yeah we uh the whole conversation about Houston last year even through their great year they were number one at one point uh everyone was saying they’re nice but they’re they’re inexperienced like they’re too young this that youth uh well that’s gone and not only that to Chris’s point like you said you just got one of the most efficient players even at that age um it just everything about it lined up you kept um the the fact that they kept Jabari is still crazy to me jabari Smith too like crazy they kept Yeah yeah yeah like it you know shout out to Jaylen Green you know there’s still I feel like there’s still a lot in the tank for him for his career i know people already counting him out but to Chris’s point like he’s he is ineffic efficient right now and um you know if you’re gonna make that leap and you get a Kevin Durant while still having guys that are are developing into stars like Amen Thompson um huge huge huge pickup um definitely great fit u yeah Houston definitely did the the thing that you wanted to do especially to try and take away some attention from the team in the West that won the NBA championship letting them know like yo we we’ll see y’all next year you know what I mean so I like the pickup i think Kevin Durant makes sense i know the the big thing is you know he’s too old nah for what he does I feel like his f is going to be great i think he’s going to be a good pickup for them i agree guys and and I’m very curious to see what the Rockets do with the 10th pick uh in this draft right uh that’s crazy too like they got the 10th pick they get Kevin Durant i mean you scares me cuz scares you in a good way or scares you in a bad way bad way the efficiency worries me now I know he he played in the SEC and like I said he played against tremendous competition night in night out but I feel like a guy who needs the ball in his hand a lot and is not efficient and is a dribble dribble dribble guy and not really great offball that kind of worries me that kind of that kind of worries me now he’s in a good spot with the Pelicans because you know he he’ll be able to to play and they need a point guard but uh I I worry I worry a little bit about uh if he can ever reach his his uh his maximum you know ability because I the efficiency stuff I don’t know i’m not crazy about it and he’s small so if you’re not if you’re not efficient anger small that’s a to me I don’t know it’s a bad combo it’s a bad combo like he could um who’s the guy that the Pelicans had um I forgot the guy’s name he’s guard oh man okay not Hawkins because that’s that’s No no not Jordan Hawkins um I had him a few years back kyra Lewis was that was a disastrous pick too i forgot the guy’s name um he was a San Antonio kind of reminds me of that type of play i’m trying to think of the name it’s going to it’s going to pop up maybe someone in the chat can can say he was a inefficient point guard but he was very similar to what fears and then you know uh I I don’t I don’t know i’m not he’s right he can you know he can get guys in their spots you know so and the Nets need a you know a point guard like this so I I I I get the pick uh but he has to work on his uh you know get get stronger to so he can get to his spots easier and work on his shot but so yeah but I heard that the Nets and Eigor was definitely um a match that they wanted so uh what do you think CK i mean your face is saying it all kind of like I don’t I have no idea why and I’m just you know so I’m I’m I’m a typically a fan of the big playmaking point guard right Eeyore’s not one of them for me though like I when you w just watching him dribble has always been something for me um and they’re showing it in the highlights too just the I don’t know uh but but like Chris said like you know getting a ball mover is probably the best case scenario for them because that’s what they would need at that point guard position so I I get But um I’m still I’m still stuck on the Ace Bailey rumor maybe maybe I could see that flip and he’s a part of any kind of deal that goes over to Utah and then maybe a better fit over there but I don’t know i don’t know i’m not I’m not I’m not crazy about the pick but again I don’t think the flip’s going to happen now because I don’t get uh I wouldn’t get Eagor in Utah to be honest i don’t I don’t like that fit um there um so I I don’t know if that’s going to be the case anymore that’s their guy i think the net but but I’ve heard the Nets really liked Igor like that was one thing that like they were going to target they were going to get a combination of like him and like Malawatch that’s why if I’m with the way Malawatch is dropping a little bit like if I’m them I try to move up and try to get Malawatch there are 14 right is that the next pick their next pick is uh 19 19 so I mean you would have to worry about like the Hawks in the Spurs with model watch because the Blazers have enough bigs the Rockets don’t need big Toronto but I think Toronto is more like a send you type of uh spot so you know OKC could be you don’t want OKC getting in Malawatch that’s just you don’t want that happening cuz that’s the rich get rich like we talk about the Spurs getting like you don’t Malo watch going to Oklahoma City it’s like all right that’s what they need and you give them maybe one of the best bigs in the draft like you know so if I’m the Nets I try to I’m calling someone try to move up you got the picks okay got the picks right you gota you know this is like I said before this is a big this is a big uh uh draft for that front office you know they they might not they probably won’t be here next year if things don’t go right so they got to figure things out and look the Nets got D’Angelo Russell but you know he’s I think his contract’s expiring they got Cam Thomas Zire Williams Cam Johnson Nick Claxton you know you nasty dlo off the ball you know I’m sure they’re going for that yeah so that’s that’s exactly what they’re I mean they’re looking at they’re probably saying “We don’t really have a point guard that can get.” And I think if you’re looking at the Nets you’re saying “Hey we want Cam Thomas to get you know to have somebody that can facilitate to him.” Maybe that’s what their thought process is who knows that’s what I’m thinking right they should try to play that the two guard lineup have play more off you don’t want him being your primary ball handler like that’s not going to get you that’s not getting you in into the play in at least like so like maybe I thinking they’re thinking is play more off ball and let have the ball in his hand more now they just need got to find another real a wing or a rim running big that uh you know because I think Claxton’s going to be on the move too that I think they could flip him so they should they should flip him they should have flipped them last all uh trade deadline but yep I agree now we got the Raptors on the clock raptors in a lot of trade talks apparently they didn’t want to include YaKob Hurdle for Kevin Durant uh that’s an interesting team you see that there’s talks of uh or you see swirling around on X and throughout socials that RJ and Quickley could be on the move right who knows what they’re trying to do out there they got Brandon Ingram on that team who do the who do the Raptors choose uh at nine and what is their what is their future i have no idea like I you know I was like this past season I was actually intrigued on what you know I still want to see like our guys who are on the Knicks and help bring us to success like I type of like he’s a playmaking type of you know point guard that maybe fits best with you know the wings they have that he you know put them in the right spot you know I don’t think like a fears would have been ideal because he’s just going to score you know they don’t need that they need someone who’s going to put guys in the right spot you know and playmake so um but the reason why because of what we just talked about with the the the the ball dominant players that are already on the team so at least with fears you know he going to let it rip so it’s like that that ball ends up in his hands the time that Ingram does that’s just why I saw it making sense cuz you’re right but are they going to give that point guard the opportunity to even move the ball whoever it ends up being yeah NBA draft just when you think about going back a couple years where they choose Patrick Williams who’s now on the trade block uh and selected at four right i mean that was four yeah it was four shout out to Shout out to our guy Cory who was on the show not too long ago and I just remember the the shocked face he’s like “And okay we have Patrick Williams he’s a Bull fan.” That happened yep yep cory was not a fan i remember having Cory on my show and talking about that like you know he he’s the ultimate like uh Patrick Williams was the ultimate like combine warrior like he won the combine like 6’8 7 foot and that’s the thing we like when you hear wingspan it like it jumps you up if you see your seven foot five wing like a guy regardless if they could play or not they’re always going to get bumped up so like we got to be careful and I learned this early in the process too don’t fall in love with wingspans that can get you in trouble they can get you in tr like if they could play and they have a good wingspan like okay that’s good but if like their game is still suspect and you know GMs fall in love with wings 6’8 7 foot wingspan like you’re a top 20 pick people fall in love with the with the combine way too much in any in any sport especially in any sport especially football i mean as a Jets fan I saw Zach Wilson get drafted number two to the New York Jets and I’m like outside of outside of you know the the combine what did he show you at BYU that made you say you know what this guy is an NFL ready quarterback but hey this is why the combine is just a combine for a reason man it’s it’s it does it’s it’s not it does not translate to who’s going to perform very well in any given sport that’s why you got to watch the tape man that’s why you got to watch the tape but then if you think about it it’s tough for coaches and everybody unless you got the scouts man the scouts should be doing their job but if you’re like the Knicks back way back when your scouting department was like nothing you know so but now they’re better but now they’re way better shout out to Wall Perin and the crew out there doing that man especially second round picks like they they find some like last year’s second round like I thought that was absolutely like I didn’t care about the the Dier pick like it wasn’t high on them but like all their second round picks you guys know I was in love with that like Kohic if they drafted Kohic in the first round and then you just swap Kohic and and Dier like I would have been like okay I’ll take the I’m cool with Dier but Kohlick at 25 I would have been absolutely thrilled with like I thought they killed the second round is going to when he’s when he’s gets healthy he’s going to he’s going to help us out you know so and and uh Horty too like they I think the second round was was absolutely fantastic hey man well we we’re going to need contribution from those guys this upcoming year you know Hakorti uh Tyler Dier they got a they got a show lot um they want to big that desperately we’ll we’ll kick back and get get some other draft draft picks it opens up a little bit of cap space for us it’s crazy like I I I don’t even understand I almost even understand why the Suns had to give up a draft pick like if you think about it that way the more I’m thinking about it I’m like you just drafted a center so I’m giving you a top a lottery pick this year so why am I even adding additional picks on top of that like I I guess what I’m saying to to to sum it up sounds like they got fleeced that’s that’s all I’m saying just just it feels like it imagine this was all because a phone call wasn’t made so like the draft room they were all ready to to draft Malawatch but they didn’t get from the GM side that you know they were going to make the Mark Williams trade so they did both at the same time imagine that’s all that this was yeah i I’m I don’t I don’t understand the the mindset on what’s going on i I think Chris put it the redundancy like it it every position on this team right now it’s like the same you know and they still don’t have a point guard i I don’t I don’t know the Suns I mean it just doesn’t make sense but unless they’re just like you know we you know bigs are are back you know and we just want bunch of bigs you know we want we want to see what everyone else is doing because obviously we haven’t known what we you know we don’t know what we’re doing anymore so maybe we get bigs maybe that works there but I mean is there Mark I love Mark Listen I’m a Duke fan i love I thought Mark Williams who’s great at Duke but sure he hasn’t played a lot of basketball he hasn’t played a lot of basketball and his defense is a little overrated too like you know so I don’t know so you think the draft picks like an insurance policy because of that i think it’s an insurance yeah like with Jaylen Green too I think they’re going to flip him like that that makes sense right to flip him not keep him but I don’t know the Suns are just in a you know Matt Ishpia came in here thinking you know he knew what he was doing and he’s he set the franchise back a big you know a lot you know so I I I don’t know doing what James Dolan did man and when James Dolan took over the Knicks I’m just hey that’s it’s new owner syndrome it’s new owner syndrome like a lot of these new owners and I mentioned this before I was talking to somebody it’s like I’m worried about these new owners coming in and making all these moves and ruining franchises like it seems like they’re just making a lot of rational moves to just show like hey I’m here i’m the top dog and did we lose uh Chris i think we lost Chris oh we lost Chris there oh man he was about to go in he was about to spit right right right he was about to spit man he was about to spit some facts but hey look I think I think you guys said it’s more of an insurance policy saying they didn’t have any bigs now they want to have all the bigs although what’s interesting is the new ownership for the Charlotte Horns have not done something as drastic as Matt Ishbia with the Suns so they seem to be on the up and up with just how they’re trying to move and figure things out saying that they will they seem to be not saying they are they seem to be but with the way the Suns are I would even trade Deon Booker at this point like what are you even doing with him on the roster i agree with you it it doesn’t make any sense to hold on to him and just hope for things to work out i feel like they should be prioritizing move Booker i know everyone’s talking about flipping Jaylen Green but this t the team needs a massive reset and needs to figure out what they have going forward and keeping Deon Booker I feel like you’re just holding on to if you’re looking from like a like a business standpoint you’re holding on to an asset that’s going to be depreciating at some point instead of cashing in right now because if you said “Hey Devin Booker’s on the on the market you’d get some you get a return for him right now.” There are teams that could certainly use a shooting guard and you know can be another team like the New York Knicks we talk about a guard having a guard at the two position that can break down teams right and take relief off of Jaylen Brunson you get teams hitting up the full line like there’s no tomorrow trying to get Deon Booker on their team but does that new new ownership new front office are they the ones that are going to feel ballsy enough to make that kind of decision because at in the same breath what if they make the wrong move and then now that is the the start of that legacy they make the trade and then they end up getting fleeced in it so it’s like I almost feel like they would be scared to try and chip off the best thing that’s happened to Phoenix in the last what decade or so and getting a Deon Booker so I feel like it’s just like a double-edged sword with them i completely agree but I’m playing devil’s advocate here as like you know it’s a like like you guys were mentioning the new GM you know the ownership group all that kind of stuff like that that’s probably like some scary territory to then now all right we we got rid of KD and now we trying to move Booker so we’re stuck with what Jaylen Green and Bradley Beal and whatever we can get for him so I I feel like they’re just scared to pull that trigger if that’s what they’re going to do well they already made the mistake in my opinion when you went all in to get KD and Bradley Beal and think that was going to be your big three i mean from a roster I think from a roster construction standpoint they all just like gravitated they all gravitate in the same spot man no they don’t complement each other very well and I felt like that was just the biggest move so they already made the biggest mistake trying to go in on this big three getting Kevin Durant and just you’re trying to put lipstick on a pig at this point and say “Hey we’re all set.” But what they really need to do just get off of Deon Booker man there’s there’s never going to be a trade that feels you know oh it feels like it it was you know of great value or just like of equal value of sheet or equitable value whatever the term may be trying to figure out the words as I’m trying to break it down but you know what I mean like so at this point just move on from Devin Booker he’s like he’s not he’s not going to save this he by himself is not going to save this franchise the problem is he wants to stay there Alex right like he doesn’t want to leave that’s the problem he’s 10 toes down in Phoenix and he doesn’t want to leave and but I just think it’s best for everybody to break up that marriage right like it’s just like hey this this this is best for the franchise you’re right i agree with you 100% it’d be the quickest way for them to rebuild i I thought there’s two things look you’re not going to be able to trade Bill he nobody wants the contract he appear No trade clause in this time yeah right right yeah it’s no trades clause he’s You’re not trading him so I Booker is your fastest path to a proper rebuild um you trade a KD as step one you trade Booker you’re going to get a Hall um Booker was on the market tomorrow like you said there’s going to be a lot of teams lining up to to give multiple he’s getting at least three four first round picks you could get for him so yeah I this this ain’t it man it’s not it just seems like this ain’t it and uh uh if you’re a Suns fan you got to be It’s depressing man i mean you didn’t even make the postseason this year like with that talent you saw it was more guys being injured you didn’t make the postseason what’s the What What are you hyped about going into this season what’s the thrill what What is giving you What is show What is giving you hope with this roster saying it’s going to be even better than what it was last year you couldn’t even make it with Kevin Durant and Deon Booker on the team i don’t know how it’s moving forward but we just got another trade coming through the Portland Trailblazers are trading Cedric Coward the at number 11 to the Memphis Grizzlies and the Grizzlies are sending number 16 and a 2028 first round pick via Orlando in two seconds to Portland so that is the trade right there what do we got What do you guys think about uh Cedric uh Cedric Coward dex I’ll start with you yeah he’s a he’s a uh another big that I liked um in this i think this is very interesting for for the for the Grizzlies um is very interesting for them because they use that draft capital they got from Orlando and they’re fli they flipped it into a player I like one thing I’ll say with the Grizzlies man like they’re good at identifying guys that fit in what they want to do they’ve been very good at that over the last couple years and then developing guys so if there’s a team I trust with doing that it’s it’s them for Portland uh you you get you know um what do you get two seconds that’s Yeah you get two seconds and a first and a first you got first protected let’s see they got a 2020 first round pick via Orlando and two seconds it doesn’t say if it’s protected yeah and you drop down you drop down a couple spots five spots to pick at 16 so yeah if the Grizzlies when they usually move up for a guy they like they usually hit on this um so and I like I like this for them i’m wondering if they’re thinking about this is where people going to go they’re going to be like “Hey are they going to commit to Jiren Jackson Jr are they are they going to try to to move to play uh Coward next to Edy?” Cuz all all indications were they loved Edy last year even though he has some liabilities in terms of how he could play in the playoffs um it gives them more flexibility they they might want to move on from Jiren Jackson Jr um what else did they just add another good young big forward forward center you you could play in four or five I think um I like this I like this move for Memphis ck what do you think about the move i I like I like the trade in general um everybody wins in my in my opinion you know uh obviously like like Dex was just saying the Grizz got somebody they really wanted cuz for that Hall they must have really wanted him and Portland a team that’s doing such a good job at steadily improving in their development now they just got more assets you know I think it’s a good marriage so uh I again though but I’m I’m looking to what Dex said at the very end curiosity as far as that rotation at that u position we we got the rumor we heard it that you know they want to stick to Triple J and and John Mor but we’ll see we’ll see but um as far as the trade is concerned I like it for both sides i I’m a fan of Portland and what they’re doing so you know they got more assets so good for them and we got Chris LeBron back in the building my man was about to go in on new ownership and the internet said “Don’t you dare.” Matt just tapped in through the Matrix said “How dare you try to talk about me on a show not today.” But Chris how are you feeling about this pick how about how you feeling about Cedric so I I lost my internet my bad uh I just I just saw the trade cedric Coward um going to the Grizzlies love it love it just did a mock draft with a bunch of people and had a guy represent the the the Grizzlies here and he he picked Cedric Howard so I had Cedric Coward as a top 10 player he’s what I love about him he kept leveling up everywhere he went kept leveling up you know only played a few games this year but he played great and then when he got to the combine he exploded like he was supposed to go to Duke and he said “Nah Duke I’m good actually like I’m going to go top 10 maybe.” and he turned down Duke not a lot of people turn down Duke you know um but uh love his story like we talked about the wingspan but his game actually matches with the wingspan too so he could play and he got the seven foot wingspan so I I think this is a tremendous ball chris I have to say he’s How tall is he cuz he I know he can be you know watch him play a little bit he’s long but is he cuz he’s not is he playing like is he going to play projected play to four is he going to play the three he’s more over three he’s like six he’s more three so he’s a wing really more than a big okay so I I had him I thought he was a little taller i thought he’s like 68ish okay they they they listed him at like 6’8 and he was really like 6’5 oh okay i wasn’t I wasn’t tripping on that that is that is that is being generous well they did that with Ace Bailey they had listed Ace Bailey at 610 and he was really like 67 and some change so like never go by un wait till the combine for the official listings of heights cuz that’s what you really see cuz uh they’ll they’ll always add you know they always add on on the on the more of a wing okay yeah he’s a wing he’s more wing so I like it even better but I remember I remember like being impressed by his he wingspan i did see I did you could kind of see that so okay so he’ll play he’ll play more of the three okay that’s that to me that changes a little bit of what I said cuz that makes you think they will keep Jiren Jackson Jr and want to play him um and Memphis has kind of been looking for that wing guy um that could you know help create a little bit take some pressure off a jaw i Okay I like this i like this move for them and like I said it’s I still will stick to the point that Memphis is usually right on these things when they move up for these guys yeah you’re still right on that right exactly yeah they they’re usually they’re usually good in in in terms of hitting on these guys to move up for and if you think about you move Desmond Bane to Orlando so now you need somebody else i mean Desmond was that guy who took a little bit of pressure off of Jaw right and so if you’re thinking about hey need somebody like that you get Cedric in there and so not a bad move for for Memphis but we got another trade gentlemen we got another trade the Atlanta Hawks are trading the 13th pick in the draft to the New Orleans Pelicans for the 23rd pick an unprotected 2026 first round pick most favorable of New Orleans and Milwaukee so it’s a swap and uh wow there you go more trades are happening what are the Hawks planning to do so they’re trading 13 for the So Pelicans are going to jump up from 23 to 13 so they’re coming up next so who so who are the Pelicans thinking about that’s the bigger question that is interesting they’re taking Derek Queen so that’s who who I like um as a big for them um you know Derek Queen is a guy I really like 69 guy i don’t know how he plays next to Zion but also guys this could tell you maybe a little bit and Chris you know this as a Duke fan maybe how they feel about Zion because Zion has not been able to stay healthy i think when you look at the entire Pelicans projected starting five right now there’s a bunch of guys it’s like if they can stay healthy if Deontay Murray’s healthy if Trey Murphy is healthy if Herb Jones is healthy if Zion Williamson is healthy there’s a lot of ifs good lord it’s a lot of ifs man a lot of baby it’s a lot of ifs so look Derek Queen is um a guy I liked in this in this draft i think he could have gone also in the top 10 or kind of outside that you know he he where he did fall to 13 um it’s I I like this but I wonder if this means something’s happening with with Zion Williamson said is I’m always going to be skeptical or this is just insurance because he has not been available um time will tell it’s very interesting because the fit doesn’t like him and Queen together is wouldn’t be an ideal fit at all because like defensively you’re just it’s just going to be a turn style it’s going to be an absolute turn style like Queen is a bucket like he can score he can get to his spots like um but he’s not a perimeter guy too uh shooting wise like he doesn’t have that in his game yet like he shot it but he wasn’t it wasn’t there yet but defensively like you’re you’re really asking to just guys to just score relentlessly so that’s not a fit that’s why I mentioned before I think Zion is someone that you know I wouldn’t be surprised that we hear his name get in in trade rumors i think uh I think I think the Pelicans are in you know trying to uh think about life without Zion in my opinion they should i think they should and while we’re talking about the Pelicans the Bulls drafted Noah Esen uh there you go Chris you got your Frenchman that was drafted so don’t worry i remember doing this last two years and people got mad at me for so I didn’t mention any Frenchman in the in our draft preparation because uh you know we have uh we don’t have great experience with that but he’s he’s a he’s a really super freak athlete like uh okay u some people are going to question him because he left his team during like the playoffs their playoffs um for this moment but I I look at it this way like this is a once in a lifetime opportunity to hear your name called So I I’m pretty sure his his teammates were cool with it because it’s the NBA you know um so um just like I said it’s a lifetime opportunity you know you’re not you’re only going to hear your name once so you know I I don’t know if people are going to but people are going to question his you know his tough but he he’s a super freak athlete he got his perimeter shots getting better uh so there’s a lot of things to like about him so he’s definitely intriguing for the Bulls what do you think what do you think Dexter or anything about uh I’ve I’ve watched a little of um I’ve watched a little of him on on on tape and he does have the athleticism the shot seems like he’s getting better he’s got the height so he’s an intriguing prospect um you know how how he develops how his body develops too uh is going to be very interesting to see but the way the NBA is going the way it looks like his ability will be to stretch the floor with his athleticism is what you want out of a big you know I just think he’s got to fill out a little bit more which he’s gonna have time to mhm it’s only He’s 18 was it 18 Chris he’s like 18 he’s a baby so he’s going to have time to do that but um no I like this i like this pick i mean look I say this with all these guys we You can like the pick we have no idea we don’t know how this is coming out we have no idea we have no idea you know it’s it’s all fit development um is he in the right does he have the right opportunities to succeed this this is for every player honestly um but yeah it’s it’s I like I like I like him as a prospect i do like him as a prospect i like the spot for him with Giddy i like the spot i think Giddy’s going to maximize him use him in transition get him spots so I like him paired with Giddy like this is a good spot for him what did the Bulls do man because you got some people being talked about what was I i think I saw something about I don’t know how if I saw it correctly lonzo potentially being on uh I saw that the trade market what do Lonzo’s interesting in market he’s on a good contract too lonzo Bull like that’s a really good You already know i’m not even gonna waste my breath i’m a fan of Lonzo man i like here you know do what we got to do you know what I mean yeah uh what’s it called but uh Matas was 18 uh Buzzales he’s 18 he was 18 last year 19 now he’s young too he was 19 last year 19 yeah they I’m just think because the Bulls Yeah bulls going young and they’re getting good val Ellis was supposed to be like a top five pick and they got him know later so they they’re getting they’re just getting hybrid wings and you got Giddy there you know he really took off once he got to Chicago where he’s finally you know the lead guy because him sharing with Shay you know he was always going to be an afterthought but you know being in Chicago like they really you know he really did some good things there so now you get some quality wings surrounded by him and you know they might be on to maybe maybe on to something they still got to fill some holes but you know I I like I like this pick we’ll see where the Bulls end up man hawks are on the clock see I mean not the Hawks the Pelicans pelicans i Pelicans just change it man change the logos as soon as it happens come on man and you have the capability change we were talking about that earlier Dex so like come on man like why it’s like why do I need to see uh you like the player in like a jersey or gear that they’re not going to be in it makes no sense we we I don’t know why we haven’t advanced to this and it’s even annoying if you’re at the draft in person because they don’t change it up on the screen or they don’t have it up there and you know Adam Silva’s introducing these guys and everybody knows everybody’s got the information already right that this isn’t happening so I I agree just change it you what’s your thoughts on uh Queen man yeah I like Queen man i I’m I’m really I’m I really like Queen um I just have concerns about you know the fit with him next to Zion but I really like his game um I think he’s had a good good aggressive game i think he where I do think he can help him too though rebounding uh Pelicans were not a good rebounding team i do think he can help with them on the glass we know Zion even as an undersized big in terms of height um is a is a pretty good rebounder but I do think he’ll help him on the glass there i just still look at that pick and I say you know you’ve heard you know you hear things over the time about in New Orleans and Zion and his commitment and you know to his health and staying healthy and the weight and all that stuff you wonder if they’re at the end of the rope um or if he wants out too um so it wouldn’t shock me even if post tonight you hear his name as Chris said come up in in in trade room i Chris or CK said it but I think come up in trade trade rumors so yeah but I do like I like Queen as a prospect i do like him as a prospect um has some work defensively to do uh that I will say that much but he he’s he’s a bucket and he can score and if his game gets better on the perimeter um is it I think he’ll be good because he did some good work in the Big 10 you know when I watched him I I thought it was pretty good i don’t I’ll be honest I don’t get to watch a lot of college basketball but I do watch a good amount of ACC and Big 10 and uh yeah he he’s he can uh he he can score there’s no doubt about that you are a pit guy so I’m not surprised i’m not surprised i’m a pit guy so watch a lot of ACC that’s right i’m not surprised so CK what do you think about uh Queen uh not much I can add uh from what Dex and Chris because they they hit it the nail on the head i my question mark is just the the fit with Zion so we got to have to that conversation everything everything you said Alex about Booker and you know fast forwarding you know rebuild and boom you already got rid of uh CJ McCullum you know what I mean the team is Brandon Ingram’s gone you know it’s really just what what uh De Jonte Murray that’s a real like veteran starish kind of guy outside of Zion so everything you said about Devin Booker I’m going to then copy and paste with Zion Williamson are you not believing in the Jordan Pool leadership is that what you’re telling me uh everything you said about Devin Booker i’m going to copy and paste about Zion Wson yeah man i mean you know you got guys like um I’m a huge huge fan of of of of all and maybe not uh my boy Trey Murphy over there give him the Hey come to New York man right but but seriously though like you have guys out there that you know you could actually you know that are available that are playing like you know Jordan Hawkins when when he’s healthy too he’s I feel like it’s just time that they you know just go in that direction but if you’re looking at the roster right now Queen and Zion the defense is going to be hilarious but um you know outside of that he’s a bucket uh good pickup because he’s a good player just not sure how the fit works with um your star guy in Zion when he plays pelicans are just in that you know what stinks man like there was so much hype around Zion coming out of college and he’s just been a major letdown outside of one season outside of outside of one season where they were in the postseason i think it was against the Suns like you thought there was going to be something with that team and BI but look and you already traded BI too you traded BI too to New Orleans so like I’m in agreement you know you know you know what’s crazy about you know what’s crazy about that draft i was thinking about this like Zion J RJ Barrett rj might be the most consistent player out of all of them man say or the one you trust to be on the court yes if you think about it you know what I mean because job was you know playing with playing with guns and stuff so that you know we had that and then you know Zion just has been able to stay healthy so R.J.’s kind of been I’m not saying R.J.’s the best player out of all them in terms of talent but he’s been the most consistent he’s been available thank you for not bringing up Zion’s off the court issues on the show we do not need to talk about his offs this is a family show so we do not need to go down we’re not We’re not talking about who he’s involved with i’m going to leave that alone Alex i’m going leave that alone but hey isn’t that interesting where R.J outside of getting sick in November uh you know you can always count on you can always count on R.J to be available and to be hooping man that’s that’s one thing hey Broadway Bear when he was in New York man but out of those two guys to say that he’s have the has had the most consistent uh career so far fascinating absolutely was supposed to be the face of the league like he was supposed to be that next face of the league yeah man thanks LeBron and all that yo you had the president sitting front row at Duke games like this was like getting into Duke games was imp like it’s impossible as is but it was like like there was no way you getting in like it was a must-sea ticket and he was supposed to be that next guy and you know he was going to get a shoe deal all this stuff and then you know it’s a it’s a shame it really is a shame like cuz he when he plays there he’s a impact player he just he’s not playing enough so y said you need to be available and he’s not available absolutely right not available and then now we see uh that the I guess the Hawks are selecting Carter Bryant even though it was selected by the San Antonio Spurs from Arizona you know they’re getting a 67 forward going down to Atlanta i guess the pair next to Jaylen Johnson and the new look Atlanta Hawks with Trey Young Jaylen Johnson and Christos Porzingis how do you guys feel about this selection chris I’ll start with you wait so Cardinal Bryant is a a Hawk or is that for the Derek Queen pick you talking I’m talking about Carter so isn’t Carter Bryant going am I going crazy i think it’s a Spur no the Spurs he’s with Santo i was trying to find He’s going with Santo i’m seeing from Yeah I think Yeah we got confused with the with the queen yeah okay um Yeah no Carter Bryan has is a two-way player he I think he’s just going to be a good player i wasn’t his upside is uh some people think he’s can be like a top five player in this draft but uh really good two-way player it feels like he’s a spur like he’s like the ultimate spur like every mock draft I did everyone took Carter Bryant to the Spurs so he just he’s going to he’s going to fill in like that Harrison Barnes type of like he’s a Harrison Barnes type of player good call in that type of and it’s kind of fitting that he’s on the team so um I I think it’s a good pick you know big 6’8 the wingspan stuff you know he didn’t with crazy he didn’t play that much at Arizona but that was more on the coach i don’t know that was kind of weird situation he should have played a lot more but um he’s a good player and uh I you know some people said he could possibly go higher but this is a good spot he’s going to San Antonio you know another luxury another luxury pick for them dexter how you feeling about this if this feels like a Spurs type of pick solid player I think could be a good role player uh could also play well off of you know well depend who knows depends a lot on who they have at guard there but a lot of a lot of guards there the talented guards there along with WBY so yeah I I like this pick i think he’ll be able to defend at at this level pretty pretty well he’s got that what Chris 7 foot 71 wingspan um you know you you see from him so yeah like he’s only 19 so he’s also got some time the Spurs are just adding some good young talent you see this now in the league right everybody’s just trying to get these wings and draft them early wings with length I should say and draft him early um and see see what you can do in terms of development so yeah no I I like this pick san Antonio gets a guy in a spot where they thought they could get him so it’s a it’s a good it’s good value for for them here he could shoot too a little bit so he shot like 38% in college so they need shooting they need shooting around with all those guards you know they don’t have guards you know they got a lot of non-shooters on their team so they need to surround those non-shooters WBY and all those with with guys who can shoot the ball and Carter has the ability he didn’t shoot a lot of threes but he shot it solid when he did so you know CK what do you think about the Spurs man moving forward i mean what do you think about this team moving forward for like this upcoming season because they got Darren Fox you know you got Harper Vel Barnes obviously Wemanyama on the team like where is this team moving with these selections are they just trying to stay young or are they trying to stay competitive the the beauty with the Spurs is even though like I said at the top I’m I’m not the biggest fan of the Harper pick because we’re not we might not see much Harper and that’s really all it is outside that we know they’re going to develop him and there’s no worry of like a New Orleans kind of situation where he might not play but then he’s not going to get any better no even if he doesn’t play he’s going to improve because it’s San Antonio but um yeah it’s just that question mark um I I I we were talking about it i said to Chris and I I said to you like I I wasn’t the biggest fan of the the De’ar Fox trade for the mere fact that you had a super or or a a possible superstar in what is Castle who ended up being rookie of the year it’s just a lot of question marks i feel like they got all these great pieces all these great tools it’s they have a great uh young team with guys that make sense i still feel like they need to move like the Kellen Johnson’s i don’t know what they want to do with so stuff like that but um I mean they’re in such a good spot though regardless of those little minor complaints that you know like I mentioned even if Harper doesn’t play he’s going to develop like you guys both just said with Brian I like the pickup for the mere fact that he fits this team well and even if he doesn’t get many minutes in two three years we’re going to be talking about how he’s such an improved shooter because he’s going to get those opportunities so you know the Spurs they they love doing things at the beat of their own drum so I it’s one of those things no matter what I’m going to talk about with their their their guard situation um I don’t have much uh worry when it comes to developing the young talent that they do have if I were to say anything yeah the Kell Johnson thing I think he probably needs to get moved to you know make a little bit more sense for the squad maybe they do make a Darren Fox move uh Chris was saying that there’s a possibility that you you know they might put him on the block maybe who knows but um you know I’m I’m the the the the one thing I’m not worried about is development for these young guys even if they don’t play they are going to be good NBA players long term anyways for sure and I mean look you can move on from Darren Fox you know Chris Paul’s going to be out of there like you can open up the you can open it up for Castle but I guess this is what this is what’s so fascinating about the Spurs they you go in to get Fox you know you have Barnes so that way you have like you have Chris Paul on the team you have the veterans because you want to make a play at least and and just give this young team a sense of just you know highlevel competition to know what it’s like and just to give them a taste of not real postseason but you know the fake postseason you know the and I with now you now that you have all this young talent it’s like do you just get rid of those guys go back to being young and let these guys slowly develop Because look with women coming off the blood clot injury you know um how fast do you want to rush him back to get back in these things you just want to take it slow i think these are a lot of things that Papovic who you know who also retired from being a head coach still going to be in the front office how do you want to move this team forward and set them up for success so a lot of good things for the Spurs man a lot of good things for the Spurs thank god they’re out west and look if you’re if you’re if you’re thinking about the Spurs too and you’re looking at how stacked the West is do you even want to accelerate the timeline right now to compete with the Thunder do you even want to do that that’s the bigger you want to rush it like do is there really a need to rush the process essentially for them that’s the thing I’m I’m I’m very intrigued of what they’re going to do is like do you do you want to just wait it out or or do you want to go in and try to win right now because it’s it’s it’s a gauntlet it’s a gauntlet out west so do you really want to rush it or would you just be patient let the young guys develop and let’s develop at their own pace you know look at the team just won look at the team that just won you know what I’m saying like yeah exactly yeah and they just got richer by the pick i was just going to say and here we go with selecting Thomas Sorber at the 15th pick dexter how you feel about this one man wow um so who did they get with the 15th pick thomas Sorber thomas Silver with 15 pick okay um not not not bad there um in ter in terms of what they could do i have only he that was the Georgetown big um I I know so I did see a little I do watch a little Big East basketball um he’s got some thing you know Georgetown’s so tough to evaluate some of their players with there and I’m sure you guys will talk about in the second round micah Peavey who a lot of people have linked to the Knicks um Sawer he’s got some skills uh he’s got a he’s got a he’s a big body i I think how he can use it uses footwork in the NBA could be very interesting to see um I think he could do worse for it than than a big for him here at 15 um and he he can play well 15 was I’m sorry this was Miami miami had him at 15 right thunder oh Thunder thunder thunder just picked him up yeah well look there’s some t listen you got sometimes you got to respect the teams man some teams like I’m saying we you know Chris was just talking about with the Spurs and why I agree with them on trust in the process the Thunder usually don’t miss on things like this and they like guys who they have flexibility i think one of the things they’ll look at you know you have I don’t remember if Jaylen Williams not JD Dub is I don’t know if he’s a free agent this year i can’t remember or not or he’s got one more year in his deal but they’re probably thinking about life without him or after next year with Hartinstein um cuz then they have a option for him there so they’re thinking about what they’re going to do down the road look they know they need to get tougher they’re probably thinking about depth you can never have another another big you never have enough bigs another big is good what god forbid you saw you saw this season Hartinstein got hurt ket was out for a while can they get another big body they could trust that gives them some toughness cuz you know that was their weakness the year before they were getting killed on the boards we saw that um in the Maverick series where they got knocked out so yeah that this this is a good value center at that and the thing you have to start doing is do you trust OKC’s development and the answer has to be yes look how many second round picks they had in this finals that played a huge role for them in winning the championship whether it’s Kase Wallace right Andrew Wiggins they have found guys so I trust him to find good value time and time again so does does Sorby need to develop some things yeah I think defensively but I think he’s got some good skills that can work uh for them and I think he’s in a system where he’ll have the time to do that he’s a 15th pick on a championship team where they don’t need him to come in this year but I’ll tell you what if they can find minutes for them they have a coach that’s going to find minutes for him so he can develop and listen you know you guys been talking about this all the time long with the Knicks that’s part of the reason Tibs is not with the Knicks anymore you today’s NBA you got to have depth you got to play young guys you got to guys can only learn if they get the reps so he’s not a guy I think is going to ride away on the bench if he can’t play um and the fact that they have so much in their war chest they’re still picking guys they want that flexibility to be able to make moves because I still think in the next two years two to three years as the Thunder try to keep this going they’re gonna move some guys they still last year’s draft pick who didn’t even play this year Topek is going to play this year who I think is great out of Serbia 68 guy uh we get into the big boards and the projections of of of some of the the so-called experts and like what really matters is where these teams and their GMs have them ranked um you know that that’s that’s really what matters i was talking to an international scout the other day about this and he was just like look it’s all about in that war room what you have ranked your team and people around you making these decisions might like a player different so if Igor Devin if if the Nets had him ranked high and he’s a guy who I know isn’t flashy i know he didn’t shoot the ball that well but he does seem to have a good feel for the game i could it feel it feels like a Shawn Marks pick to me so it didn’t shock me as much in that way um maybe they reached for maybe they reached on value but maybe Portland reached on Yang but maybe they really liked him and he was so high on their board he wouldn’t have been there later so that’s why you can’t go by all these big boards and everything you see look do teams get it right yeah sometimes they get it wrong drafting is not an exact science i say that all the time it is not an exact science if drafting was exact science Frank Nilina would have been an all-star and I would have been wrong because I thought that man was going to be nice so you know what I mean so we’re all there man yo I I was on the Frank Lita train Chris i was on the Frank Lita train i swear I was on the Frank Lita train and look we all we all have one at least one some of us don’t want to admit it but we all I had I was hyped on Johnny Davis oh Johnny Davis i know Wizard fans were hype on him yeah yeah like all of us have all of us have won so guys even who scout and watch these guys that’s the thing you don’t know until these guys hit the court you don’t know until they get in the team setting you don’t know until they get paid sometimes for people being paid for doing this professionally i know it’s NIL now but it might change their motivation you really don’t know until you get into all these factors so that’s why a lot of times I’m like you can like a pick but I’m still kind of like all right we we got to wait and see because who knows i can Can I ask you guys a question who do Who do you Who do you guys uh who What Who do you want to see the Knicks do at 50 i’m going to leave it to to CK and Chris on this one man kobe Breer okay I’m I’m He I’m on it i Here’s my Can I tell you my one concern though i like him my concern is he shoots he might be the second best shooter in this draft if not the best shooter in this draft he’s the best um defense is a concern but but but but but the Knicks need some shooting they need they need somebody out there even if it’s off the bench to get some shots up right like they lost this with Dante my other concern Chris and you probably can speak better than me because you seem like you’re more plugged in with the college game um will he be there at 50 will somebody identify that elite shooting so much that maybe he’s gone by 38 i’m just going to throw a number out there or something like that i do like him though um I had sent a text to a friend the other day i was like “Yo I think Kobe Bray will be on on point.” And then I had a former scout on with me last week and he said he had mentioned Kobe Bray and Mike Peavey were his two he thought that could be good fits and could contribute right away for the Knicks so but Chris I’ll let you talk on that kobe Bray is on the radar too i I do like him yeah if if I had I did this before um I had a bunch of guys nicks targets and but I said if all them available and Kobe Brea is there you take Kobe Brea and like you mentioned the defense isn’t good but at the 50th pick there’s a reason why players are there they’re not going to be perfect he is the best shooter to me in this class like at every catch and shoot off the c off the dribble you know to the side side step boom boom boom you know Cory Tabo Alex he actually had him and did a whole like workout they did a deep dive into his game you watch that if if anyone you guys you know go on YouTube go watch that from Cory from No Ceilings like he did a really good job breaking down everything of his game it It’s beautiful it’s just beautiful i know defensively it might not but like I said it’s the 50th pick not it’s not going to be perfect you know not every process can be perfect at 50 he’s the best shooter and you need shooting and if I don’t think he’s going to be there anymore like like now with NL and all these kids going back like maybe a month ago when you know when everyone was still in the draft process he probably is there at 50 now I think he’s gone in the 30s to be honest in the four i I think he’s gone before 50 but if he’s there at 50 take him run to the podium take Or even if it’s Listen I know it’s crazy to think about trading up in the second round but if I was about there in the 45s in that mid40s I don’t know i might do it maybe that’s just me maybe because I’m I’m just a weirdo like that i might just do it you know traits but I I I love him i think he’s I think I would absolutely love him in New York and like he he came from Dayton and shot the ball really well then he levels up i I this is what I love i love guys who level up in competition and get better like he comes to Kentucky in the SEC a gauntlet absolut the best conference ever and he shot the ball better than he did at Dayton in the 810 you know so and for if you haven’t watched him like shot is smooth man like off the dribble um catch and shoot the release is quick the shot is smooth i was and I looked at that he doesn’t defenders are running at him and he doesn’t look afraid of the turret i’m like “Ah this this this kid is the shot is the shot is nasty.” Um look Chris I’ll say this i do not think it’s crazy that if let’s say I’ll even go to I said 38 but I’mma push it down a little bit let’s say it’s 42 or 43 and he’s there and you if you really I’m always a believer in this if it’s a guy you want you think he fits for what you need you go get him you if you got to give up an extra second round pick do it you do it you got to give a future second if you think he could help the team next year cuz that’s what the Knicks need can you get another guy that’s low cost that can help the team next year and then in a row the Knicks need the Knicks need shooting man big time and maybe you figure out the other stuff with the defense but they need shooting um I give I’d give up an extra a future second round pick to move up and get him if that’s if that’s your guy go do it all in on him Toby although I like Pavey there’s other guys I would like Pavey i am a big PV guy too georgetown you know but Brea I mean if you can go watch that breakdown you that part so he doesn’t he doesn’t really care about that like it’s he could be out of a job by this time this next year so it’s like all right if this kid could save my job it it might it you know I think he wants I think Ace wanted Brooklyn i really think he wanted Brooklyn or Washington and you know so they have the capital to do it and like I said Shawn Marks is in a must it’s it’s it’s do or Ames do you try to get the three remaining in one that’s a lot man and that’s the thing that’s the issue because now he he knows where he wants to be that’s the biggest issue it’s Danny A he’s going to get every ounce of whatever he can get but he don’t care if it’s Ace Bailey or LeBron he is going to do whatever it takes to get what he wants in a move and I feel like that is what makes this so
