the momentum really shifted yesterday for the Indiana Pacers when TJ McConnell and Obie Toppin entered the game the shot making of Obie right away was huge hitting two straight three-pointers giving them some cushion giving them some much needed momentum it turns out in the three victories for the Indiana Pacers OB Toppin is a plus 39 meanwhile while he’s off the court in those three victories -12 in the plus minus category insert him with the starting five instead of Miles Turner the Pacers in 16 minutes throughout this series have 120.6 offensive rating 112.5 defensive rating plus five in the plus minus category and then take Pascal Seakum out of there insert Miles Turner next to Obie Topphen with the starters and in 14 minutes they have won their minutes by + 12 140.7 offensive rating 96.3 defensive rating i mean quite frankly he’s been perfect in his role 12.8 points per game 5.5 rebounds he’s making two three-pointers a game shooting 39.4% so far through six games just absolutely insane production considering he’s only playing 24.3 minutes a night he brings a much needed element that not many players on the Pacers have versus Thunder Team is he can play above the rim and that’s huge against Chad an amazing rim protector hardenstein and pretty much everyone on their team has size and length so they got multiple rim protectors on the court at all times so windows where you think you have a layup it’s really going to be a contested layup but OB he can do things like this in this situation he’s one of the only Pacer players that turns this into an uncontested dunk chay has zero chance of blocking that shot because he’s so quick off the ground and look at how high he gets my goodness and yesterday you even saw a play like this where he’s catching in the short corner and there’s traffic in front of him caruso’s in the area but because of his athletic ability he just goes straight up above all that traffic and creates a foul okc is so good at helping and recovering and guarding the rim but Obie is consistently not giving them any time to help him recover he’s too quick and he’s too athletic and not only has that speed and athleticism helped offensively creating easy cutting buckets and just picking up the pace getting out in transition but defensively it’s been huge for the Pacers this just doesn’t seem like a good matchup for Miles Turner he also kind of looks gassed out the Pacers have really been struggling defensively throughout this series with him on the floor 116.1 defensive rating meanwhile with Obie Topphen they have 108.9 defensive rating but it’s really been that frontcourt duo of Seiakum and Toppin who is having success against this OKC offense the twoman lineup of Seakkum and Toppin has played 64 minutes together 97.9 defensive rating and this right here is a perfect play to showcase his versatility and why he’s having more success than a guy like Turner look at how far he’s willing to go out to help N Smith on this play and he’s comfy in this situation and Jaylen Williams can’t just skirt by him with his speed because Obie’s quick with his hips jaylen Williams just continues to attack he’s been lethal at the basket this series but Obie says absolutely not on this one not only that but he’s been finishing possessions 33 rebounds that’s fifth in the series he’s third on the Pacers in total rebounds in the finals they have a 52.7 rebounding percentage with him on the court meanwhile when he’s off the court it drops down to 47.8% i’ve also been very impressed with the occasional drive to the rim and finish over a contested shot blocker here he’s going full speed against Chad decides to go up with the left hand while heavily contested and somehow finishes i mean that’s ridiculous and in this series he’s not overthinking anyone he’s playing off pure instincts being really really aggressive and playing with full confidence and then on this one the twoman game when Nemhard finds a way to screen Alex Guso which seems like the most impossible thing to do then he gets a pocket pass and floats it up over the rim protector like it’s nothing that’s an incredibly tough shot isaiah Hardenstein is known for the floater tastes of his own medicine and then here he does the same thing to Shay shay’s known for del and while driving full speed he just stops on a dime keeps his pivot foot catches everyone on defense offguard and he finishes i mean he really has been just doing a little bit of everything and so far every time they win a game this series he is one of the storylines he is playing at a high level producing off the bench tj McConno and Obi Toppin man oh man where would the Pacers be without them probably at home watching OKC have a parade but because of them they now have a chance to shock the world in game seven let me know your thoughts below in the comments section and have yourself a great day and peace
