well well well if it isn’t 10:45 at night and your boy ABC is reacting to a trade and kicking his wife out of the bedroom it’s just like old times isn’t it uh anyway Drew Holiday has been traded to the Portland Trailblazers this this feels extra familiar because this just happened um a couple years ago uh but yeah Drew Holiday traded to the Portland Trailblazers for Anthony Simons and two second round picks all right we knew something like this was going to happen right we knew that Drew Holidayiday was going to have to move just because of um salary implications there was no point in this team um being back in like the second apron or even like in the luxury tax or things like that we knew that Drew Holidayiday was going to have to go we know Porzingis is going to have to go it’s just kind of uh how it is the team wasn’t going to be able to be profitable if not so let’s just pull this up here i kind of just want to draw it out and see what’s going on so and who knows if Drew Holiday will actually stick around in Portland this time it doesn’t make maybe a ton of sense for him to be there it makes a little bit more sense than like an Anthony Simons I suppose but um so we do that it’s going to be some second round picks it doesn’t matter what the second round picks are so this is what it looks like in general how much money is being saved here portland takes on about 4 million and the Celtics really don’t save all that much money by doing this do they how many other guys do they have to eliminate to get under the cap now so if they wanted to get below like the first apron they still need to get rid of another like 27 million so they’d have to take back like nothing for Porzingis and like Sam Hower probably which when we were mocking out deals before um during like ideal off season and everything when we went and did um the Celtics video we found that we were able to get them where they needed to be financially by trading Drew Holidayiday Porzingis and Sam Hower so maybe that is still the play and maybe that can still be done i don’t exactly remember who we acquired in those moves to kind of make all of this make sense but I mean Anthony Simons is a good basketball player let’s let’s just talk about the basketball implications of this anthony Simons can get you buckets right he will get you buckets defensively uh he’s he’s been pretty rough um I’ve always said I feel like Anthony Simons could play better defense um it’s just a matter of um like maybe being coached a little bit better being in a better organization things that just work out better for him and his surroundings and circumstances so I feel like there can be a better defensive player in him well it’s it’d be silly to say that we can’t get better from where we were but you guys know what I’m saying offensively you’re going to get a guy that can get you 20 to 25 any night like that’s that’s just what Simons does he’ll be a scorer he’ll be a shot creator for you which uh you just need with Jason Tatum being down so I like this um this is uh pretty good the Celtics also got a couple second round picks for Drew Holiday um and hey we clap it up for Drew Holiday right he got a championship brought that to Boston very cool um again I I don’t know if Drew Holiday is going to be sticking around here i would be I’d be a little bit surprised by that uh personally what is this with Trey Man he’s fully recovered oh that’s awesome i love Trey Man um back to this let’s say Drew Holidayiday does stick around it’s it’s a it’s a vet to have for the team financially it makes no sense for them to have him whatsoever so maybe he’s being rerouted to like a contender again and Portland is for the second time in Drew Holidayiday’s career just going to be a midway point for him getting somewhere else and we’ll talk about that if and when that happens but so I I kind of more so just want to think about this from a Celtics POV um if we can talk about Anthony Simons um what is what is Shawn saying now an extremely active offseason begins with the Celtics with the trade of Drew Holiday blah blah blah blah blah celtics remain engaged in trade talks surrounding Yeah yeah yeah we we understand that um Anthony Simons um I don’t actually know if this is public knowledge or not or if I’m just saying this this dude has wanted out of Portland for quite a bit of time there’s a couple guys on Portland like that honestly but um I I he wanted out for a while it’s it just is what it is he hasn’t had a ton of fun or or um great memories there overall so this is cool he gets to go to a a great organization somewhere where he’s going to be able to compete right away for things um like the Celtics are still going to be good without Jason Tatum they’re still going to be good where are they going to rank in the East i don’t know with everything that’s happened injury-wise in the Eastern Conference it’s hard to tell who’s the who’s the top team and who isn’t it might just be the Knicks out of out of just sheer we have the most healthy people i guess Cleveland as well but um no Simons makes a lot of sense that’s the type of point guard they probably had to bring in uh with Tatum being down again defensively you make him a little bit better it should be it should be fine i think it’ll be interesting for them to kind of have that shot creator of um a guard next to Derek White um I think that’ll be kind of cool obviously whenever you lose Drew Holiday just ask the Milwaukee Bucks like defensively you’re going to fall off quite a bit and I know Drew didn’t have like the greatest season this last year but this this seems like a positive for the Celtics cuz again they they had to move him they had to move him financially it just it wasn’t going to work otherwise and there’s going to be more of them they’re just um they’re just are Why is Kawhi Leonard trending please don’t tell me that nothing crazy is happening with that right now i’m just I you don’t know this feels like it’s going to be a crazy off season so I don’t I don’t know what to expect um I guess if we can think about it at all from Portland’s standpoint um veteran player add again I don’t really see the point in having Drew Holiday i guess he’s a guard that doesn’t need to have the basketball on offense which means that your other guys who you should be focusing in on aka um um Scoot Henderson Shaden Sharp Denny for sure like those are the kind of guys you want having the ball i’d like to see some hub offense out of Cllingan um I guess what’s a little bit confusing is um let’s let’s just let’s just think about this from Portland’s standpoint for a second let’s say that Drew Holiday isn’t being rerouted somewhere else and he is sticking around here was it really worth two second round picks to add Drew Holiday like again second round picks make them as you will but like why not just keep Anthony Simons and let the money fall off the books right so like I feel like he has to be going somewhere else if he isn’t this is a really weird move because like you didn’t need the veteran presence that bad to be paying 32 million over the next like three seasons for it it just it doesn’t make sense and again Drew Holidayiday is still a solid basketball player it’s and I don’t want to take this one year of just saying like “Oh he’s washed offensively or whatever,” like a lot of you dumb dums on the internet like to say but um I don’t know this is uh it it’ll be a weird one if there’s not another move i find it really hard to believe if he’s not being routed somewhere else like maybe like the Clippers or something like that like maybe a Norman Powell type move happens i don’t know i um I’d be I’d be confused if not i’m checking my phone right now while I’m doing this just because you never know what else is going to happen but overall I love this for the Celtics i think this is I think this is awesome i think this is going to be a guy that can really help them right now portland it this feels like uh we’ll wait and see kind of what’s what’s going on here but um yeah I just want to put out a quick video about it i’m going to let my wife back
