Knicks Make SNEAKY Good Move – New York Signs HIGH POTENTIAL 6’8 Guard…

the New York Knicks just made a sneaky good signing bringing in a player with absolutely incredible upside to this team that is going to have a hugely positive impact on them going forwards right after they went into the draft and also picked up a guy with incredible upside and we’re going to break it all down what’s up guys welcome back to Nick’s Digest it’s Chris here and we’re going to jump right into things as we always do if you guys are part of that 70% that’s not subscribed to Nick’s Digest make sure to subscribe for daily videos like this we are not stopping with all the great content the Knicks are active right now and we have a ton of videos for you guys hope you enjoy let’s jump into it leon Rose has not missed a beat since the New York Knicks just had one pick at the end of the second round in the 2025 NBA draft he moved back a spot in order to save a little bit of money and the Knicks as we know ended up drafting Mohamd Dora and he’s a solid player in his own right very much a project pick that the Knicks will be looking at for a while and trying to figure out where he fits best onto the team there’s a chance he’s a draft and stash player helping the Knicks avoid paying some money out right now but on top of that what we are seeing now is the Knicks continue to make moves as they have brought in another very high upside player right here and this was brought to us by Jonathan Javanni who mentioned that Mexico City Capitan’s guard Dink Pate has agreed to a deal with New York a source told ESPN this and that the 19-year-old former guard who played for the G-League Ignite product has a significantly long-term upside to grow into a 6’7 star guard for this team now Pate is a big guard and he’s very very incredibly talented now for him it’s all about the production can he get stuff down he’s got all the raw talent in the world to become a very incredible player in the league and I understand that people will wonder then why wasn’t he drafted well frankly if we want to go that route it’s because the G-League Ignite sucks the G-League Ignite did nothing but ruin a bunch of talent it was way worse than the college route the NBA tried something that failed miserably and a bunch of guys did not get the experience that they needed pate was one of them he took a year with the G-League Ignite before it folded as an organization he needed another year to play before he would be eligible for the NBA draft and he evidently decided to move to the Mexico City Capitans where he got a lot of high praise i mean we saw Juan Tusano Anderson former Golden State Warriors forward say that I truly believe that Dink Pate is a superstar in the making he signed with the Knicks as an undrafted free agent to an exhibit 10 contract and he is 19 years old he’s a 6’8 swingman as we know initially started with the G- League Ignite now Pate’s dad was thrilled for him to go to the Knicks as we could see right here he’s very excited to see his son joining the Knicks and here’s the deal with Pate this is an interesting contract because he’s going to be for sure playing for the Knicks in Westchester this summer league and he’s going to be fun to watch he’s going to be someone who the Knicks believe in a lot they didn’t take long to sign Pate he’s someone with huge upset i love this move by the Knicks i think DP is the perfect guy to bring in here because it’s just again it’s a high upside guy that we’re looking at and the Knicks they’re looking for these upside guys with Pakome Dier with Mo Diwara we’re continually seeing this now that the Knicks are looking for guys who can have an impact down the line as they don’t have a ton of draft picks right now so they have to try to take these gamles and hope that something works out for the future so they can get some really good pieces onto this team dp is one of those guys and now it was mentioned by the Strickland that the Knicks have agreed to a deal with him who became the youngest professional basketball player in United States history when he signed with the G-League Ignite at 17 years old dank Page said about himself “I’m always team first i’m a big guard i’m a willing passer and I love to play the game i want to go to an organization that can build me and mold me.” Now with seeing all that the official scouting report from the Ringer from Jay Kyle man on Pate is that he is the final graduate of the G- League Ignite era but he was so young in his G-League run and even this past season playing for the Mexico City Capitans that the tape is hard to parse p’s physical tools are advanced for his age but he is still raw on defense he’s still reacting to a play unfolding he’s a good ways away from anticipating or reading the flow of what’s happening in the game the same is true on offense pate seems to have what Jake Kyleman calls trainer brain he plays as if he’s memorized the sequences rather than responding to the action on the floor and more often than not that leads to dribble dancing focused on getting to a fadeaway mid-range too simply put Pate is still learning how to play he could be a great value if a team has the right developmental situation for him the Knicks over the past couple seasons we’ve seen development be a bit iffy I feel like is the right word it hasn’t been bad necessarily we’ve seen Leon Rose pick up guys like Emanuel Quickley and Quinton Grimes and a few other players who it took a year or so not quickly but it took Quinton Grimes a year two years to really get things going and he developed well and evidently ended up getting traded to the Pistons for current talent like Alec Burks and Buon Bdonovich but outside of that what we’ve seen from Pate he’s someone who the Knicks are going to try to slow roll here they want him in their system because the Knicks believe in their developmental team and on top of that they’re going to stick him in the Westchester Knicks on the Westchester Knicks where he can get some development but they’re going to try to hold on to him i expect Pate to end up on a two-way contract with the Knicks because the Knicks want control they don’t want to have him in the G-League and then have him get signed away like what happened with Chuma OKK with the 76ers what happened with Moses Brown with both the Indiana Pacers and the Dallas Mavericks so they’re going to have Pate on some sort of two-way contract so that they could hold control over him continue to develop him and look at him as a guy who does have a future in the game with the Knicks now looking at Pate stats he put up 10 points per game last year with five rebounds and two assists per contest we’re going to make this bigger so it’s a little easier to see for you guys on top of that that last season is the numbers that we’re looking at he shot 41% from the field only 26% from three so he’s got a ways to go with the jump shot he hasn’t taken a bunch of free throws but shooting 50 58% is not ideal his shooting numbers from the line were better the prior season and on top of that the field goal percentage and the three-point percentage were lower so he’s a little all over the place right now as mentioned by Jay Kyle man he’s still learning how to play the game he’s still trying to get there but he does have potential to work with here he’s a super athlete at 6’8 he has a good ball handle it’s just a matter of figuring out how to play within a team system and getting things going and it’s not going to happen today it’s not going to happen tomorrow he’s going to look raw during the summer league cuz that’s not too long away from now so basically what we’re seeing is a Knicks team that they picked up a guy in Pate who they see as a guy who could have an impact in four to five years not tomorrow not the next day but down the line when the Knicks need more young talent dink P is still going to be 22 years old 23 years old by the time 2030 comes around when the current guard is looking like they’re going to be getting a bit older so that’s important to note as well and also just looking at the scouting report that Kevin O’Connor did on Pate he mentioned that Pate is a 30.5% three-point shooter getting five rebounds two assists 10 points a night the summary is that Pate looks like part like the part of an athletic wing could handle the ball but hasn’t produced effectively in the two G-League seasons that he’s played any team that takes him is rolling the dice that someday he develops his skills got compared to Cam Reddish in the sense of he looks the part but is he going to be the part he’s a good lob threat and the scouting report is that his strengths are great athleticism paid has great size and length for a modern wing which shows off when attacking the closeouts and when he drives to the paint and acrobatic finishes and he’s got really good defensive upside as he has raw fundamentals and lacks awareness but in theory with his physical dimensions he could develop into a versatile defender now the shooting is a concern for Pate right now as he has an ugly form with a ton of movement as he twists his body and hoists the shot like it’s a medicine ball and the results are equally poor as he’s only making just 63.5% of his free throws 30.1% of his threes and not shooting well from the mid-range as well either and at the rim finishing as it was mentioned by Kevin O’Connor that Pate only made 48.8% 8% of his layups and 26.3% of his floaters in the half court he lacks touch and forces too many shots so all the things that we see about Dink Pate are that this is a guy who’s going to need some time to develop that’s just what’s going to have to happen here the Knicks are not going to as I said it’s not going to be today it’s not going to be tomorrow but Pate should get there if the Knicks do believe that he can the Knicks are going to work with him heavily to try to get him there and I mean we just look at what the G- League or G-League the summer league roster is going to look like right now from our friend Nicksfeed who mentioned that the early depth chart looks something like at the guard spots we’re going to have Tyler Kolic Johnny Davis Boo Buie Dink Pate and Boali Bales at the wings we have Pakome Dier Kevin McCuller Jr Mohamd Diara Marjan Bochamp and our bigs are Ariel Huckporti James Naji and Anton Watson this is a very good summer league team and I would advise all of you to tune in to these summer league games shout out to Nick Feed as always for bringing up all the important stuff as he always does great dude follow him on Instagram as well but as Sleeper Nicks also mentioned these are the games that we’re looking at there’s also going to be more games depending on playoffs and all that if the Knicks play well enough which I expect them to be one of the best summer league teams the first game is July 11th versus Detroit at 6 p.m where you can find NBA TV then July 13th at 5:30 p.m you can find that in NBA TV and then on ESPN 2 both the 15th and the 17th the Knicks will play the Brooklyn Nets and then the Indiana Pacers and then playoffs will come after that there will be another TBD game regardless though so we’ll get to see at least five games from these young Knicks and I’d advise you guys to tune in it’s a nice little taste of basketball when we’re kind of in those dog days the good parts of free agency is kind of over we’re going to be bored we’re going to be sitting here and the summer league’s going to give us something to root for so make sure to tune in it is a fun time believe me I’ve watched my fair share of summer league games at that point you just need any basketball you can get man what do you guys think about this dick pay move i like it i think there’s no risk here and very very very high reward 100% on board with Dink Pate i hope he gets a two-way contract and I expect him to like this video guys subscribe turn on post notifications thank you so much for 18,000 subscribers already at 18.2K let’s keep it going let’s get to 19 let’s get to 20 by the time this offseason’s over at the very least guys have a great day it’s Friday you did it you got to the weekend you deserve to just sit down relax watch a good movie go out hang out with your friends hit a bar do none of that if you feel like it do whatever makes you happy man enjoy the weekend i’ll see you tomorrow

  1. " Iron Sharpens Iron" Dink Pate will learn from practicing with players like Mikal Bridges and OG Anunoby. I love the " Athleticism and Length" the Knicks are acquiring on the Wings. That's going to help the Bigs ( KAT, Robinson). 🏀
