Bucks sign MARK SEARS
so last night as I like to do when I was reacting to the Bucks draft pick I recorded it before I looked at anybody anything online any reactions because you know I just wanted to give my raw take And then to some to my chagrin my surprise Bucks Twitter was having a meltdown that pick 47 might not play right away In my mind I’m like y’all wanted an NBA ready contributor but you also want to contend an NBA a guy that’s going to help you win games with the 47th pick in the draft I don’t disagree with you You’re dumb You’re stupid And so I just felt like it was a good draft pick because the chances of hitting F47 is low And I thought that there’s things to like there And for those people that really wanted somebody that has a chance to do something right away I think the Bucks did a little something for you to balance it out They just picked up Mark Sears um as an undrafted free agent who was one of the best players in the draft What do I mean by that he was not one of the best prospects in the draft but one of the best players doesn’t get drafted because he’s 23 years old Um and he’s six feet tall but he was a first team all-American in college Um he this past year averaged 19 points three rebounds five assists His shooting was down quite a bit this past season Um if you make it smaller so you’re able to see or make it bigger so you’re able to see he his efficiency was not there but Alabama’s been a defensive team for some years where um they don’t really have the most modern offense and they make it so it’s probably a little bit more difficult for him to get buckets and get efficient buckets but I mean he was easily putting up a high volume for them and most years he was efficient If you look at the previous year he was shooting over 50 from the field 44% from three and then the past few years 22 points a game 19 points a game So this is a guy that you can squint a little bit and see a little shades of Brunson right there And um so yeah with getting a guy like that that undrafted that’s beautiful for the Bucks That’s a great move for them And honestly great for them that uh he wanted to come to the Bucks And so the only thing with this is it gives you a little bit more freedom and free agency to hopefully say we do not need to go get D’Angelo Russell We’ll have Rollins back who’s a combo guard Kevin Porter Jr back who’s a combo guard And now we’ll have Jeremiah Fierce who might be able to give you some minutes in year one You know my apologies for calling people dub that want a guy that that could contribute right away because maybe Jeremiah Fierce could I was mostly kidding but Jeremiah Fierce maybe could help the Bucks contribute Um and so I think in the draft you got a guy at pick 47 that is pretty solid in the league that he plays in overseas He’s very efficient and has a ceiling because he’s 6’11 could shoot a three could put the ball on the floor could pass could do pretty much everything well And then you have this guy here who actually let me scratch that high ceiling stuff this guy could have a high ceiling because Jaylen Brunson once fell in the draft because oh he’s only 6’2 and you know he doesn’t have the high ceiling But in reality the guys that always fall in the draft are guys or the guys that always end up having a higher ceiling are just the guys that get slept on because they don’t have some crazy measurements You know Brunson ended up being a top 10 player in the NBA Um Jokic ended up being an MVP I think they were saying low ceiling for him back in the day because he wasn’t athletic And so my point with this all all this is to say I feel like for years the Bucks strategy has been I talk about this all the time Just draft a player with long arms that jumps high It’s been insane ever since they drafted Giannis That’s like all they look for And it’s like the thing is with Giannis his rookie year he had a nice three-point shot right away He was Yeah he was 6’10 and freaky athlete but right away he had some touch He had some passing ability He had some feel that developed very quickly and you know a little bit of a handle and so they saw that Giannis thing and their takeaway was if we just keep drafting long buddies that are athletic we could get more steals but then ever since Giannis it’s been Thawn Maker DJ Wilson um you know Marjan Bo Champ Andre Jackson and more guys that I’m not even seeing right now and this finally feels like maybe a term in philosophy from John Horse maybe he watches my channel and seeing all right if I’m going to be able to find a diamond in the rough It’s just going to be a really good basketball player that got slept on because he doesn’t fit the long arms and jumps high thing that people look for in the NBA And I remember when the Bucks drafted Chris Livingston which you never know maybe there’ll be something there Everybody was saying potential steal in the draft but in my experience these guys that they say you know super high talent and athleticism that fall they usually fell for a good reason because you know they’re just not that good at an NBA level I remember um Cliff Alexander was a guy coming out of high school and then just was disappointed in college and so people thought he’d be a steal in the draft never turned out to be anything And time and time again these guys that were like great out of high school and great athletes that don’t perform in college they don’t really end up being the guy And the guys that do end up being steals in the draft or maybe even unra drafted free agents that are success stories are guys that you should have been able to see right away they were going to be good It’s just you were looking for a specific type of player rather than just looking to draft the best basketball players And so overall I feel like the Bucks with where they were at did about as good as they could They drafted two guys that have room to develop and room to grow but are actually good basketball player The first guy muggle I don’t even want to bog I don’t even want to try to pronounce his name But anyway um there’s reason to believe that he could still grow He just needs to put on weight but there’s a lot of talent there And Jeremiah Fears is a guy that is just simply a good basketball player The question is going to be um defensively um with his size will be he be able to hold up and then will his three-point shot be consistent enough because um 35% 30 a little below 35% with a college three-point line I mean it’s not terrible but when you’re under size you’re really going to want to be a sniper And so it’s going to kind of come down to is he more of the shooter that he was two years ago in college or last year Um but overall there’s a real chance that this could be a guy and um I think John Horst has done a great job this offseason so far I know some people wanted him to make some big moves But I told you on my offseason plan I mean there’s some swings that I dream of but realistically the Bucks just don’t have anybody that you could like sell high on right now The Bucks just have not really any assets anymore other than maybe Bobby Poris in the signing trade but guys like Koozma you’re just not going to be able to get any good deal for So honestly right now being patient and maybe waiting till the trade deadline to make some moves um I think is probably the way to go And with what he’s been given John Horse hate the guy as a GM Think he’s been a terrible GM but so far this off season I can’t be mad at his lack of trades Um because there’s some bad trades that were floowed out there that could have really killed the Bucks and um with the two moves he’s made here with the draft and undrafted free agency I like it But let me know what you all think Drop a comment hit that like and subscribe

It's mark sears not Jeremiah fears lol
😮
Trade up learn it.
Have to like his aggression on offense. Goes at defenders, fearless. He needs to add weight and he can't guard a broomstick. I don't see him developing past Ryan Rollins long-term.
You streaming summer league games
He to similar to ryan rollins , I don't know we will see
