🚨 Knicks Sign 6’8″ DEMON In Dink Pate After 2025 NBA Draft | New York Knicks News

[Music] the New York Knicks just signed a 6 foot8 do it all demon you’re watching Nicks now by chat sports i’m your host Marshall Green and Leon Rose he listened i was begging and pleading for the New York Knicks after what happened in the second round of the NBA draft to go out and sign Dink Pate to the New York Knicks summer league roster and Leon Rose he listened a 6’6 plus without shoes 200 lb prospect who is still just 19 years old i’m a big fan of Dink Pate and there’s a lot of reasons to be a fan of his game in shoes he’s almost 6’8 he handles the ball like a guard he’s got a really good feel for the game he can playmake he can run the lane he’s an underrated athlete go watch his highlights he is not afraid to rise up and try to throw it down multiple windmill dunks in transition like you watch this guy’s highlight tape and you ask the question why did he go undrafted and I think there’s a couple of different reasons for that he did leave high school a year early after his junior season he left high school early where he was a five-star prospect and he was going to be one of the recruits that a lot of people and a lot of coaches and schools were trying to recruit but he said “You know what i’m going to try to get to the NBA.” So he went and signed a two-year deal with the G-League Ignite at just 17 years old and there’s a reason the G-League Knight has dissolved it didn’t go all that well not from an off the court thing p just didn’t I would say have the success that he thought he would have had and he wasn’t put in a spot to raise his game to the next level there was talks about he tried to enter the 2024 draft and he was going to be a first round prospect there was talks a couple of months ago that he could be a first round prospect in this draft he played last year with the Mexico City Capitans i don’t I think that’s how you say it but this is a guy who left high school early at 17 years old as a five-star prospect and he is now the youngest player in the USA to be a professional player the Daily Loud saying the 17-year-old Dink Pay a five-star recruit in 2024 has signed a two-year deal with the G-League Knight the high school grad becomes the youngest known American professional basketball player in history and there’s a lot to like about this guy’s game and Juan Tusano Anderson his teammate for Mexico City who played in the NBA with the Warriors pretty sure he’s an NBA champion he sees the potential that Pate has to offer jta saying this I don’t think it’s a secret so you’re not going to think I’m gassing him or anything but he’s on the trajectory of being a superstar you look at him and like he’s so talented he’s so mature he’s smart but then you look at him and you say “Wow he hasn’t figured anything out yet.” I imagine where he’s gonna go and I sit and reflect every day i hope that I can help him while I’m here get to where he’s trying to go because I mean that would make me happy just to see him live out his dream and I truly believe that he is a superstar in the making so it’s just fun to be a small part of his story because I do believe that he’s going to be one of those ones and you love to hear that like a player that’s had some success in the NBA getting to team up with an 18-year-old kid and you see the potential you see the juice you understand why this guy has the ability down the line got to continue to get better and round out that game to be a special player in the NBA i also love that Dink Pay at age 17 age 18 and now 19 has played professional hoops against grown men in the G-League and in Mexico City so going to the NBA I don’t think it’s going to be that big of a transition for him dink Pate uh worked out for half of the NBA during the pregraft process and he said this um quote “I’m always team first i’m a big guard i’m a willing passer and I love to play and I love to play the game i want to go to an organization that can build me and mold me.” And that’s what this guy needs he needs a thorough thoughtout plan of how he can continue to get better they don’t make people like this in the NBA he’s like a demigod 6’8 he can put the ball on the deck he’s a great playmaker an elite athlete gets up and down in transition and he could throw it down he flashes defensive versatility but he has to grow as a shooter and we’ll dive more into the scouting report but but I’m super hype about this man couple of days ago I included him in my dream draft targets for the New York Knicks to select with the 50th overall pick in the second round yes I I am biased i’ve known Dink since 2021 when he was a freshman in high school in Dallas Texas i covered high school basketball in Dallas before getting the job here at Chat Sports and I got to cover one of his games and I remember walking into the gym and I saw someone I knew that worked for another publication i was like “Yo who’s that guy?” He’s like “Yeah he’s going to be in the NBA he’s a five-star prospect.” And he stuck out like a sore thumb 6’6 guard and he was like “Oh yeah and he’s a freshman.” and he had a sick buzzer beater step back three from the left wing so yes I’m biased going to try to get him on the show as well we’ve maintained a pretty good relationship since they just checking up on him already wished him well and I’m excited to see his growth he’s going to be playing in the summer league for the New York Knicks so that’s going to be a lot of fun and look I don’t want to gas him up but JTA said it he’s got superstar potential and he does because he’s a six foot eight guy with guardlike skills who’s an athlete and you just don’t see people like that nick Roloff the NBA draft expert here at Chat Sports wrote this scouting report about him saying “Ideal physical profile for a wing with awesome size and length has the traits to contribute more defensively struggled to produce offensively mainly due to a bad release and a lack of touch the jump shot has to improve he didn’t shoot the three ball well in the G-League he didn’t shoot it well with Mexico City but what he does well is already something that I think is going to translate in the NBA nearly a 6’10 wingspan an 8 foot eight standing reach a vertical not extremely high per the testing numbers but you watch the film and this guy looks like an all-star wing running down the lane in transition putting it on people’s head tops he shot pretty well off the dribble during the NBA scouting combine shot well on spotups not too well on three-pointers about 27% in an open gym which isn’t great and that’s going to be the major key for him if he can improve as a shooter improve his offensive efficiency and just build on the skills the athletic ability and the traits that he already has like I’m not going to be shocked if three or four years from now we’re talking about a rotational player that’s making a big impact for this team and I don’t know how soon he’s going to be ready to play in the NBA i don’t even know if he’ll make the Knicks after the summer league i’m sure he’ll be on the G-League i think it’d be smart to keep him around people like this don’t come around that often and people like Marshall why didn’t he get drafted i think people are worried about the shot and that’s really the only reason I can come to but like when I think of an ideal backcourt mate with Jaylen Brunson it’s a big guard a guy that’s got size that’s got length can run in transition and has the ability to handle the ball in crunch time and allow Jaylen Brunson to play off ball because he’s one of the best spot up shooters in the NBA three years running he needs to play off ball more and Dink I don’t think is ready for that i think he has that potential in his game and I’m excited man let Leon cook let him cook someone cooked here and I’m not going to say he watches the videos or people in the front office watch the videos but I’ve only been banging the table for three years for the New York Knicks to pursue Dink Pate shout out to you Dink proud of you awesome moment for your family it’s been a long road for you man and and you deserve every bit of this enjoy it celebrate it and go play your tail off at Summer League we’re 5:30 p.m on NBA TV then you’ll play the Brooklyn Nets on ESPN 2 on the July 15th then July 17th you’ll play the Pacers on ESPN 2 and then game five is TBD based off how other prior games go with the Knicks and others and I’m excited about this summer league roster nothing official yet but I think this is what maybe the top 10 guys could look like i expect Doier to play as I do with Kak Huck Porty and McCull the four players the Knicks selected in the 2024 draft i expect them all to be out there dink Pate is going to be out there mohamed Diawara is going to be out there james Naji is going to be out there and Bwal Bales I believe is how you say it he is already committed there i want to see Johnny Davis as well and Marjan Bochamp two guys that were on the Knicks and spent time with the summer uh summer league not yet the uh G-League team last year both of those being uh former first round picks like let’s see if the Knicks can squeeze any of the juice that those guys had when they were first round picks like Nicks lowkey have a squad man you’re going to run a starting lineup of McCuller Dier Kohic Huck Py those four guys and maybe you throw in Dink Pate maybe you throw in Muhammad Diar like it’s going to be exciting we haven’t had a lot of summer league action to look forward to recently considering Leon Rose hates the NBA draft but it’s going to be a lot of fun i’m
