Mark Cuban reacts to the Mavs introducing Cooper Flagg 🗣️ ‘I’M JUST SO EXCITED!’ | NBA on ESPN

i’m excited i’m really really excited obviously Cooper is amazing um everything points to him just having an incredible career and you know for us to finally move up and get the first pick after all these other teams have done it it’s stunning but it’s amazing and um I’m excited for everybody excited for fans um excited for the organization excited for Cooper excited for Kyrie AD you know um Clay all the guys that that put in all the work started i mean can you describe the peaks and valleys of the last four months these are alltime moments that have happened within a three four month stretch
yeah it’s crazy you know but it’s be it’s that recency bias right because it’s been so recent people don’t remember all the hell I got for letting Steve Nashwalk right and people don’t remember the Dwight Powell trade right you know those things happen but like you know that was then this is now and the good news is when you can put together a team that you know and the front office has done a great job of putting together a team where we can compete right and couple breaks here and there kyrie comes back Cooper is who we expect him to be and we can have a really really good team and where I’ll really give um Nico in the front office credit is you look at a lot of teams right now and they’re blowing up their teams they’re dropping bombs on their team because of the second apron i mean we’ve got our guys locked up and with the way the cap’s going to move we should be in really good shape and you know Nico and Kyrie have had a strong enough relationship that you know they they were able to work together to give us a little wiggle room to have somebody to fit in when when Kyrie is out and so you know for all the help that Nico’s gotten he’s done a great job putting us in a really good position
do you think this will do you think this will repair that
you know that’s all last year right people forget you know over time but yeah I mean again look at what Boston’s had to do look what Phoenix has had to do all these teams that we looked at and said “Okay they’re just amazing and they’re ready to go.” You know the Second Apron has just changed how you build teams and Nico’s done a great job of pulling all these pieces together what most excites you about his potential and his upside
he’s got a lot of derk in him like what caught my attention the most is how much he talks on the court you know well and the only difference is they didn’t understand what Dirk said because he said it in German so maybe Durk can come back and teach him a couple words in in German because he does not back down and he he talks his game on the court too and I think you know his teammates are going to love it you know fans are going to love it you know he’s going to have to talk his stuff on the on the court and that’ll be great
does it surprise you the composure that he carries himself with as
Yeah as an 18year-old i was worried about acne and he’s like worried about you know just being in this position obviously you know NIL has really changed a lot of that guys we’re were pros as much as anything particularly when you’re as big a star as Cooper is and so I think that’s prepared it’s prepared real i mean I remember when I first got in and we were teaching kids you know what a checking account was how to get a credit card and you know what just money in general right because they came from a lot of cases came from backgrounds where they didn’t they couldn’t there was no context for the money they were getting and now all that’s gone right they’ve been through dealing with a lot of money they understand the impact on their life they understand you know how to deal with financial side of it and that that brings a whole level of maturity that didn’t exist before
i asked the position question but isn’t the fact that Oh yeah all over the place
i mean I’m like I’m sending text to Jay Kid i’m like point guard point guard point let him bring the ball up because then we have six how tall is Cooper now i know he grew some
68
68 69 right you know so he’s an NBA 611 so got a you know got Cooper at point guard Clay at the two PJ at three you know AD and then D Live and Gaff we got the biggest team in the NBA I mean we can play all kinds of game all all kinds of different types of mix and lineups we can play hard we got depth you know Caleb will be healthy you know and if we can get D live shooting some threes you know going back to that B now all of a sudden we can play five out you know D live in the corner and Cooper whoever can get him the ball we have so much funability with this roster that I mean again you know the front office has done a great job of putting us in a position where we can not only you know fill in and find some help you know while Kyrie’s out but we can have continuity in two you know the second apron era and that’s really hard
mark you saw the video like on the I think it was draft lottery night shirtless in the living room
no it wasn’t my living room i was in the I was in my bedroom and you could tell I’ve been in the gym a lot more since that video came out um yeah I was there watching and um my son came in and it was like we got the four pick and he’s like you know go put a shirt on i’m like I’m not moving i am not moving from this spot i don’t care what I am not going to be the one who jinxes us now that we got the four and then when it happened Jake and I were going nuts called Patrick we were like two kids going to a Taylor Swift concert you know so you know I think everybody in Dallas who was watching just went nuts
yeah we heard that Patrick you had to call Patrick because he was at a track meet
yeah he was his as a kids track meet so that was a lot of fun
have you had the experience a lot of us had where Maps fans left they said “I’m done with the franchise and then have now come back.”
Yeah i mean I’ll never be done with the franchise obviously um it’s in my blood but um yeah I heard it all the time i mean you know I heard the chance and everybody sends me the videos of all that but you know I think he’s done a good job we you know we don’t need to relitigate all the stuff that happened in the past but I I I can’t say it enough what the front office with Nico leading the way has done is put us in a position in a second apron era which is hard you see every single team freaking out about what they’re going to do next and how you’re going to build a team and here we are in this position
how different is it for the Mavs to have gotten number one so two three or four
i mean we never even moved up in the draft i was like you know the draft same shit’s going to happen right we’re not going to move up and then all of a sudden of a oh my goodness we can be number four you know and then all the way through to number one so you know it’s about time it’s us instead of San Antonio why do I Lady Luck got to the mass somehow
you know maybe because I’m gone i don’t know you know I’ll take the credit for leaving then
do you like the way the Second Apron is built like just the way it might kind of force some of these teams to restructure you know I can make an argument of both directions um I was there when it was all put together um from a team building perspective it’s a lot harder it’s a lot harder it just changes the value of draft picks and the impact of draft picks you know having a player of Cooper’s quality um on a at least four years changes everything with the rookie contract you know and so you know but on the flip side if you went for it you know leading into the second apron now you have to retrench that’s hard you know and you you’ve seen it and you know and plus the league is changing there’s a lot more private equity people coming in and so you know we’re fortunate the Mavs are one of the few remaining teams where there’s pretty much an individual owner who makes individual decisions and so I think that gives us some more flexibility in the the second apron era [Applause] [Music] give me a NBA [Applause]

  1. The 2nd Apron era is what caused the Lakers and Celtics owners to sell their teams. Same with Cuban selling the Mavericks.

  2. Why tf is mark even here man I used to love him but he sold and what happened happened I don’t believe anything from this dude

  3. Never forget the NBA allowed this charlatan to sell the Mavs to genocidal war criminals directly involved in ethnic cleansing and extermination. That is who Mark Cuban is.

  4. Sad it took the Luka trade to get Dumont to realize Mark knows a little bit. He’s not doing anything without keeping Cuban in the loop from now on.

  5. People forget the same mavs fans are the same ones that root for the cowgirls & believe they a going to win the sb every year no matter how bad the pervious season went ….dull pencils are in that box in dallas 😂😂😂

  6. Mark hired the shoe salesman as GM and sold the team to Zionist psychos. Those 2 moves destroyed the franchise. Never let him forget.

  7. Because Mark ran such a horrible ship & got nailed with a bad work environment Mavs were forced to trade Luka to the Lakers for a – Foreverhurt, lazy, don't care that much about ball Anthony Day-2-Davis. In return Mavs get the #1 pick in the WNBA & the NBA.

Knowing this, Mark sold the team, he did so for about 50% of its worth because he needed it to be quick, as he has been the poorest team owner for quite some time. Bad bet after bad bet, going to war with big Pharma, all his moves just sucking his wealth away.

    Absolute POS. Luka deserved better.

  8. This team is very good when everyone is on the court. Chances of getting AD to put together any long stretches just doesn’t seem like very likely. Kyrie will be fine once he’s cleared to play I think.

  9. Nico got really lucky.
    But still made huge mistake.!!!

Davis may last 2-3 weeks, love Kyre but long recovery and is getting older. Still all time great.

  10. Can't wait for Nico to give away Cooper Flagg for a bag of magic beans and the draft rights to Patrick Ewing

  11. Lets be very clear. Nico hasn't put the Mavs in a really good position. That dude traded away one of the best young stars the NBA has seen in a very long time in a very bizarre trade and didn't receive back nearly as much as he should of. He then got lucky and landed the number 1 pick, he literally got rewarded for making a bad decision. End of the day, every real Dallas fan wants the dude gone and I think his days are numbered. At the draft day watch party they were chanting, "Fire Nico". That's not good lol

  12. Bro, I know I feel like many others do that. This was rigged. But let’s say it was, nobody can do anything about it. There are so many drafts where a lot of us fans feel like the NBA for sure. Made that happen. It’s crazy.

  13. Politics as usual with Cuban
    Protecting his assets .

BTW : there’s a reason they don’t show you the draft lottery

  14. NBA Draft Lottery lacks any form of transparency these days, time to show the draw real time for all to see.
