Draymond & Baron REACT to Desmond Bane to Magic trade, Ja Morant & Grizzlies future
desmond Bang gets traded to the Orlando Magic for KCP Coanthony four unprotected first round picks and a pick swap what do you think about the Magic move and how does Bane fit with the current Magic team okay potential lineup suggs Bane uh Paulo uh uh Fron uh Vagner and uh Carter Jr oh um that’s Did somebody get fleeced four unprotected first round picks in a pig swap that’s a lot
that’s wild that’s wild
so when I saw the trade I was like man
now what
that’s a lot
and I like Bane that’s a lot and then I saw what Orlando’s general manager said i saw a quote he used make and um it made complete sense to me why they would make that deal he said something along the lines of if you went into a lab and created a basketball player you go into the lab and create Desmond Bane and I said “Oh okay that’s why he gave up so much all right cool well the reality is um I think Desmond Bane’s done great i think he’s a very good player but if I go in the lab and create a basketball player I’m going to create Kevin Durant or LeBron James or like a 66 dude with Steph Curry’s jump shot desmond Bane is 6’5 with a 6’4 wingspan or 6’2 wingspan or something of that nature i’m not going in the lab and creating Desmond Bane no dis with all due respect to Desmond Bane i’m not going to create a basketball player with short arms so when he said that I I that those are the things that went in my mind like wait he got short arms you going to go create a basketball player with short arms i don’t quite understand that and so I was a bit surprised by the statement but I understood what he was trying to get at like Bane play both sides of the ball but like you got to find a better way to articulate that you can’t like be like you going to lab when you go create a player on when you go create a player on 2K you ain’t creating D size you creating like 69 610 with a handle and shoot you’re not creating Desmond Bane but it made complete sense to me on why they made that move and I’ll take it a step further i don’t know this to be factual this is just my guess my guess is they’ve been looking for a point guard my guess is they called on Ja and Memphis somehow formed it curved the ball back around and it was Desmond Bane in the trade four first round picks and a unprotected pick swap is insane so it’s obviously a move that says they they believe in Paulo they believe in France Bogner and we’re going to put someone around them some shooting that can add you know what I’m saying that can take some pressure off of them
bane is nice though and he ain’t he more than just a shooter like he can get to a bucket you know and so
yeah he a bucket that move what the move signals to me is that they believe in those guys and they want to try to go for it with those guys and also what that move says to me is which I agree with they think the league is wide open and right now is to take your shot i just don’t know if that’s the shot I would have taken with four first round picks unprotected and a pick swap i’m not sure that’s the shot I would have taken just it seems like a lot but I do understand where they at i understand what they’re what they’re doing what their thinking is and I respect anybody who’s willing to go for it all right where does the Bane trade leave the Memphis Grizzlies
i think it leaves Memphis sort of in the same position that they were in not that Desmond Bane is just easily replaceable but they still got Jiren they still they still got Jiren they still got J they got a young Zack Edy they got a young um Jaylen Wells they got a young GG Jackson they got a young Scotty Pippen so I think it leaves them like again I always say this i don’t think and I try to tell people this all organizations ain’t trying to win championships here they are that’s essentially a shred salary cap move for Memphis take all the picks back shred some salary cap see what we can do with these young guys but if we can’t really and it don’t matter we got we got all these picks to for the future right that’s a salary cap move so where does it leave them i think it should be clear as day to J you got to understand how this business work clear as day is that is that organization really trying to win a championship when I see the move I say “No you’re worried about other things and you’re pulling away but y’all just pulling back the taxes y’all pulling back y’all don’t want to get the tax.” So you you let You know but this has been a thing with them this has been a thing with Memphis they’ve been doing it over and over again they had a team where it seemed like they had a chance they let DeAnthony Melton they send DeAnthony Melton away to um Philly they let uh Kyle Anderson walk right now you fast forward it’s Bane so this is a thing for them i think they’re a team that don’t want to get to the tax and they make moves based on that that’s why I think this leaves Memphis
all right uh you know there’s been also uh I would say a lot of sayings or a lot of chatter about Memphis players being reluctant to play in Memphis because it’s a dangerous place to live do you think that also adds to it i think Memphis is a great place uh I think that we should be one trying to uplift and highlight like all the positive things and so when you hear statements like that from people like they don’t necessarily be tapped in right um and I don’t like statements like that because it undermines you know the goodness the positivity the true essence of you know um a city that needs to be uplifted you watching First 48 and like that and then you making assessments off that that’s that’s television and that’s entertainment right we talking about people who
blood sweat and tears you know uh come and support you know uh the Grizzlies right talking about people who you know uh support kids and and and Memphis basketball on on all levels the work you know Penny doing so you can’t you can’t it’s just it’s just buster comments to me you know
I got a lot of love for the city of Memphis i got people from Memphis too people from Memphis has always shown me love even they staff when we in their building they show love everybody in Memphis has always shown love so and I was about to go to Memphis two years ago so I wholeheartedly disagree because the last thing that was on my mind was this is a dangerous place to live i can’t go every city in the world has a dangerous park every city in the world has a dangerous part to it so
I’m not going to sit here and single out that city and be like “Yo a player can’t go to that city because it’s too dangerous.” Come on man
that’s a wild
There’s a dangerous part of Los Angeles there’s a dangerous part of Detroit there’s a dangerous part of Miami there’s a dangerous part of New York there’s a dangerous part of Dallas there’s a dangerous part of Houston there’s a dangerous part of Indianapolis there’s a dangerous part of Charlotte you name it there’s a dangerous part of every city so to single off that city that franchise and try to make it like nobody want to go there cuz that place is dangerous don’t do that to that city i I disagree with that wholeheartedly like I said I was about to go there two years ago and the last thing that was on my mind was I’m not going to go play at that with that team cuz that’s dangerous this is who this is who we’re here to play basketball
raise our family hey come on man
and and be great great pillars in the community how can I help that community
stop it man that’s why
we should we should have caught that one buzz off or something like that [Music]
Draymond Green and Baron Davis react to the shocking Desmond Bane trade to the Orlando Magic. They question whether Bane was really worth four unprotected first-round picks and a swap — and what Memphis is doing long term. Draymond says this looks like a salary cap move, not a win-now move, and wonders if the Grizzlies are quietly pulling back. This trade says a lot about Memphis, Orlando, and the cost of chasing contention in the new NBA.

Bane is a hooper magic favourites to come outta east now yall watch.
Love BD, I was row 15 for the AK dunk and whole We Believe teams run. That said BD got up out of every team that wasn't in Cali quick fast n a hurry, so go there if you want to, but to run to LA then tell others to go to Memphis sounds buster af imo 😂
Yeah you butchered that quote. He was talking about creating the perfect player to fit the “current Orlando Magic roster”. Not perfect basketball player.
As far as the picks? Once you get past the sticker shock of “4 1st round picks”, it’s really not that crazy of a haul. This year’s number 16 is pretty good, they’re also getting a possible good PHX pick. The last two are Magic picks in ’28 and ’30. Those will likely be late 1st round.
All those picks fall within the timeframe of the current roster’s contracts.
At least the magic are trying .
I think if you get that ring in the next 4 years no one will remember the picks.
Memphis is real basketball town thanks for the support Draymond which you could’ve been a Grizz💪🏾
All that about Ja’s future is moot. He a Net now 😂
Appreciate the love
Way to mis quote the man.
OKC!! 🏆 SYBAU Draymond!
Thanks for the kind words about the city draymond
2picks to get rid of KCP and Cole contracts one picks is the 16th we already know so it’s really 2 picks and a swap or three picks which I think is still and over pay but it makes the magic a contender so is it really an overpay?
No wonder this gets no views 😢
Bane better then morant grilzles will not be as good without bane
I’d design Paolo Banchero before Dez Bane…
D.b will b missed in Memphis for sure but d.b gonna fuk the east up jus watch
Draymond Green to Memphis is one of the biggest what ifs for that franchise. No one in the league fits the hard working, get in out the mud guy, no bs guy more than Draymond and Memphis absolutely loves that type of player.
I can’t even watch this whole clip. Draymond can’t even get the quote even remotely close to being right and then starts to make fun of the Magic’s GM for something he didn’t even say. I’m not so sure it’s the Magic’s GM that is the one should be made fun of here for doing something dumb. If I could build a pod cast host from scratch, it surely wouldn’t look anything like Draymond when done. That’s for sure. lol
Being a Memphis Grizzlies fan I wouldn’t expect for you Draymond to say anything good about the Grizzlies my point who cares what YOU think. No love for you, worry about Golden State..Grizzlies rebuilding and good. 〽️💙🐻
😅 So you mean to tell me the Bane build not popping on 2K?? 😆
Thank you Draymond for saying that about our city of Memphis love you for that!!!
Great show keep up the good work brothers. It’s crazy how y’all did y’all job without attacking or discrediting anyone else we need that thanks again.
Bane is going to be an all-star next season!!
4 future picks is no guarantee becoming superstars, even first overall turn out bust.
i disagree with draymond a lot but he was dead right about what he said about memphis and the grizzlies…and baron davis too…singling memphis out for something that’s takes place all over the country is lame asf…glad y’all kept it 💯🙏🏽
I can’t believe I, a Memphian and Grizz fan, find myself agreeing with Draymond on this entire clip. I’m having an existential crisis right now.
The picks really aren’t that bad. They won’t be great picks and they knew one of them was the 15 this draft. Not like they’re giving up top 10 picks
What doesn’t make sense is WHY the warriors didn’t let you go instead of Poole if they actually want to win ever again 😂
Memphis fans and franchise wants a championship the players Grizzlies traded just doesn't have that IT factor for city winning a championship mentality.
My team didn't overpay for Bane. The only pick that'll potemtially be worth a damn is next year's PHX swap. Our future 1sts will all be in the late 20s at best
Good analysis
New Media taking quotes out of contexts or get them entirely wrong…but will be the first to complain about "old media"
Nobody want to see magic succeed so they make a good trade seem like a joke.
Kcp was too expensive for whar he produced. Cole anything has a bright future but not what magic need short term..
With the draft magic had clearly weighed down their obstacles. Shooting, defence and a player that can step up if franz or paolo is abscent
