Kristaps Porzingis & Kevin Durant TRADE IMPLICATIONS w/ Bobby Marks | NBA on ESPN

we have breaking news here the day before the nba draft according to our sham sharia boston atlanta and brooklyn they finalizing a three team trade it sends chris porzingis in a second run pick to the hawks terrence man and atlanta’s 22 pick to the nets and george nyang and a second rounder to the boston celtics of course chris porzingis being traded away a key piece of this championship team is the headline of this bobby marks can you just distill this down to what exactly is boston essentially a year removed from a championship trying to do here
remember they were projected to have a $500 million payroll going into this off seasonason that is basically slice in half they save $180 million they go under the second apron it is basically a reset of the roster now the big question is going to be what happens with jaylen brown right he is the last him and derek white are the two core players that are still there drew holiday out kristoph’s porzingis out what does it mean to the future of jaylen brown moving forward
it feels like there’s a clear delineation in the eastern conference right now you have the milwaukee bucks hampered with injuries you have the indiana pacers hampered with injuries to their star players the boston celtics and now there are other teams the cleveland cavaliers for instance the orlando magic who are trying to make those moves to be a win now in the eastern conference team even drew holiday being traded away from the boston celtics in the west however shams it is a arms race the houston rockets already the number two team this last season this past season rather acquire kevin durant here what do you think is the most important thing to know two days later
leo the rockets believe this is the right fit at the right time this is a clear win now move for this team i was talking to someone around the rockets today and it’s about the fact that in the playoffs now they know they have a go-to number one option on any given known night any given moment of the game and listen at the end of the day the rockets were the most aggressive at at the end to get a deal done they had the best offer to get a deal done when you think about it 23-year-old scoring jaylen green dylan brooks two-way player and then that number 10 overall pick a very valuable one in this draft a deep draft uh the the market had just become limited for kevin durant for a couple reasons one there only a couple teams that were ready with multiple salaried players that would that they would be allowed to send and still remain a championship contending type team which houston feels that is they still have a lot of their core players that they feel will help them and the other point kevin durant turns 37 years old in september he’s on an expiring contract $57 million and so that gave him an amount of leverage in terms of his future as well perk i know you like the fact that the houston rockets didn’t have to give up a ton in order to get kevin durant but do you think i mean the the standard is set by the oklahoma city thunder does this put houston in the same stratosphere
absolutely it does and make no mistake about it kevin durant is not get not a rocket if eay yudoki is not the coach right it’s about the respect that they that he have for eay yudoka along with a good friend of his the assistant coach royale ivy as well but when you think about what they gave up they didn’t give up much right they was able to keep aean thompson who i believe in the next two or three years could possibly be the best two-way player in the game right you were able to keep baby joic and shangon we saw the leak that he took this season right and then you throw in tari e and also cam whitmore in our league where the most important position is the wing position we just saw it in the nba finals you need defensive stoppers so you figure out the thing what’s going on with fred van vleet get him back under contract you got big stephen adams down there banging down low offensive rebounding setting hard screens and now all of a sudden you got your closer and you address another problem which they had this season one of the worst three-point shooting teams you bring in kd who’s efficient from the three-point line
it feels like down the stretch of those playoff games against the golden state warriors who didn’t have a go-to guy to get them a bucket now they certainly do in kevin durant on the phoenix side of this they get back into the draft that was incredibly important for this phoenix suns team but it feels like if they want to continue to retool about devin booker around deon booker they can’t be done
no they can’t be done i think we’re going to keep an eye on what happens with bradley beal he’s owed $110 million over the next two years is there a pathway to get off that money or at least part of that money here because you added jaylen green you added dylan brooks you are basically the under 67 club i think there’s a priority for one of them to get a center remember this is an ownership group that said we are not rebuilding this roster we are going to retool this roster here so phoenix at 10 is going to be interesting at 29 also two picks in in the second round
well bobby don’t don’t bill have to say yes no trade right
he sure does i mean they can wave him right outright but not without taking a buyout there
is that a real possibility
he has to he has to you don’t take a buyout unless you have a home so what is the home going to be can he get a $14 million in the open market that’s that’s going to be a big ask there [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause]

  1. Suns won this trade with that 10th pick being included. If they can unload Beal somehow and get a nice center they'll be competitive

  2. Celtics did the right thing. Drop Jrue and Porzingas. Keeping Brown and White were absolutes…

  3. Perk is perkulating on the rockets… However two weeks into the season the Lakers will be espns choice to win the championships…

  4. Malika's mouth is in machine gun mode, worse than Molly's, After Giannis Called Shams A Liar In Public, I do not trust him, Bobby Marks Knows The Game

  5. It's nit just second apron. Celtics gonna tank this 2025/26 without Tatum. They're going to get a top 3 pick just like Philly did and use it to get Boozer or young big. They re-set their title window

  6. Once the team that drafted you trades you away, that's the beginning of moving around the league as a journey man, looking at you Terrence Mann

  7. Cam Whitmore isn't a defense first player,he has to work on that part of his game Vut there has to be a reason they didn't trade him,and still willing to work with him and Reed Show's how deep thet are

JA MORANT (GUARD)FROM MEMPHIS GRIZZLIES TO BROOKLYN NETS

DEANDRE AYTON (CENTER)FROM PORTLAND TRAIL BLAZERS TO SAN ANTONIO SPURS

NICOLAS BATUM (FORWARD) FROM LOS ANGELES CLIPPERS TO SAN ANTONIO SPURS

NICHOLAS CLAXTON (CENTER) FROM BROOKLYN NETS TO CHICAGO BULLS

STEVEN ADAMS (CENTER) FROM HOUSTON ROCKETS TO CHICAGO BULLS

NIKOLA VUCEVIC (CENTER) FROM CHICAGO BULLS TO MILWAUKEE BUCKS

DeAndre JORDAN (CENTER) FROM DENVER NUGGETS TO BROOKLYN NETS

IVICA ZUBAC (CENTER) From LA Clippers to New York Knicks if Giannis Antetokounmpo will NOT be acquired by the New York Knicks.

GIANNIS ANTETOKOUNMPO (FORWARD/CENTER) FROM MILWAUKEE BUCKS TO NEW YORK KNICKS OR LOS ANGELES LAKERS OR MIAMI HEAT.

The trade for Giannis Antetokounmpo from Milwaukee Bucks to Miami Heat is still possible but has restrictions due to Salary Cap. If the deal for Miami Heat will not push thru, Giannis Antetokounmpo might move to another team. Another issue: Since Kel’el Ware, a young 7’-0” rookie Center is already dominating in the Miami Heat big man position, a deal for acquiring Giannis Antetokounmpo from Milwaukee Bucks to Miami Heat might NOT push through.

Therefore, Giannis Antetokounmpo might be traded to New York Knicks instead as additional firepower for the Power Forward Position. In this case, Karl-Anthony Towns must play the Center Position.

Another option is Giannis Antetokounmpo might be traded to Los Angeles Lakers to play as the Power Forward Position. In this case, Power Forward Rui Hachimura might be traded somewhere else since he will be replaced by Giannis Antetokounmpo.

On the other hand, Victor Wembanyama must be acquired by the LA Lakers so he can play the center position and Lebron James will play as the number 3 position/Point Forward. If a deal will push thru for Giannis Antetokounmpo to be at LA Lakers, I suggest that Rui Hachimura will be traded to Miami Heat to play the Power Forward position to partner with Miami Heat Center Kel’el Ware.

If in case, there is a Salary Cap Issue in Los Angeles Lakers, they will be limited to options.

The LA Lakers will do the option of acquiring just 1 big man and that is either Victor Wembanyama or Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Case 1: If LA Lakers will acquire Victor Wembanyama, the LA Lakers might not push to acquire Giannis Antetokounmpo due to Salary Cap Issue. Giannis Antetokounmpo might find some other NBA team to settle down. He might go to New York Knicks or any other team or he can still stay at Milwaukee Bucks.

Case 2: If LA Lakers will acquire Giannis Antetokounmpo, The LA Lakers might not push to acquire Victor Wembanyama again due to Salary Cap issue. Victor Wembanyama might find another NBA team if he wants to be traded. He also has the option to go back in France or in Europe to play for any French Team or any Euroleague Team.
