it’ll be an uphill battle but I don’t see a reason why the Wizards can’t compete for a playoff spot the Wizards just freed themselves from the Jordan Pool business they owed him 31 and 34 million over the course of the next two seasons and this move is going to free up around $100 million in cap space in 2026 but I also think the move is indicative of the direction they see for this franchise valuing the importance of getting more veteran guys in around this young core they’re trying to establish and granted there’s no Cade Cunningham type of talent at least not yet like Detroit goes and gets Tobias Malik Beasley Tim Hardaway Jr trade for Dennis Rud in the middle of the year you look at this Wizards roster you got Marcus Smart Malcolm Brogden CJ McCollum Kelly Olen champion Chris Middleton and that’s next to Bub Keshan George AJ Johnson whoever they draft at number six one of the most underrated shooters in the league Cory Kisspert the mold worked so well with Detroit obviously getting the six seed in the Eastern Conference that I think that this is a perfect recipe it’ll be an uphill battle but I don’t see a reason why the Wizards can’t compete for a playoff spot with this perfect mixture of really good vets and what seems to be a promising young core

he New Orleans Pelicans are trading CJ McCollum, Kelly Olynyk and a future second-round pick to the Washington Wizards for Jordan Poole, Saddiq Bey and the No. 40 pick, sources tell ESPN. Shams Charania was the first to report it and I like think this approach from Washington to get some more vets around their young core just like the Detroit Pistons did last year makes a ton of sense. They will also avoid paying Poole $70+ million over the net 2 seasons and they’ll free up $100+ million in cap space in the Summer of 2026.
