Multiple MAJOR Raptors Updates… – More TRADES Incoming | Raptors News

we have multiple major Toronto Raptors updates to discuss as the Toronto Raptors have parted ways with Messiah Yugjuri and all eyes are on what this team does next especially with more influence from this new ownership group on this Toronto Raptors team and lots of trade reports news and rumors regarding the squad over the past few months have picked right back up following the departure of Messiah so we’re going to break down what these updates are how this departure of Messiah and him parting ways with the Toronto Raptors has impacted all of the intel we’ve received over the past couple of months and now what we can expect from this Raptors team moving forward so so much to discuss out here in this video folks you guys have been crushing it hitting that subscribe button we are so so close to 40,000 subscribers trying to get through this off season and we’re moving up every single day we’re getting that number going so make sure you guys hit that subscribe button so you don’t miss a single thing that’s going on and you know join this community we have here at Raptors Digest but what is happening what is on the go because of course there was a lot said yesterday the past couple days about Messiah Jerry leaving the Toronto Raptors and questions about what is going to happen with the direction of this team under the hands of Bobby Webster in the GM role as he was given the agency to really handle this team over the next couple of months and his extended as GM so even if he doesn’t become the president of basketball operations he will still be involved in the day-to-day GMing of this squad so what is going on well we have a ton of updates from Jake Fischer that’s revealing a lot of things that’s happened in this situation so firstly there’s been buzz for some time now a Messiah who was going into the last year of his contract next season there was pressure on him and the front office to add winning players and take the next step take this thing the next step so that is very very intriguing and frankly shed some light in terms of the direction the Raptors are going we have a bunch of reports so make sure to you know we’ll we’ll dive into all that but this is the first thing I want to sink my teeth into because basically Messiah Jerry was pressured to add some big players add some guys that will help speed up this rebuild very very quickly and that’s where these reports that have been brought up in regards the Raptors trying to land a big fish trying to get a piece that will come in and change this rebuild right away even if it sacrifices some of our future that’s where that’s coming from that stemmed down from ownership and they wanted one of these moves and stuff to happen fast they’re sick of the Toronto Raptors being out of the mix and frankly want to rush this rebuild of course whenever that happens when ownership starts meddling in a rebuilding process it nine out of 10 times goes very very poorly so that is kind of unfortunate and is a sign for things to come because Messiah Jerry at least had some cache out there with you know Keith B with that with Larry Tannabal with all these guys but now Messiah Jerry’s out you know as vice chairman and president of basketball operations and we only really have a GM here now at this point and basically Bobby Webster is a young executive in the NBA widely respected very intelligent don’t get me wrong in anything like this but he doesn’t have the you know cache to be swinging with Edward Rogers and the board if they if Edward Rogers wants to speed up a rebuild he is going to be forced to do this or he’s going to be on his way out that’s what happens out there in these situations of course you know Bobby Webster’s extended so I don’t imagine he’ll be like firefired but there is less leverage to push back and be like “Okay let’s let these guys mature develop and if we do make trades wait further till their value is higher rather than you know trading them before they blossom and come to their own.” So that is a concerning development that even Messiah Jerry was getting pushed around in regards to the trade talks and scenarios and everything that was going on and that’s why we heard a ton of rumors about Giannis well Giannis regards giannis is worth it right any team should be after Giannis but Kevin Durant um jmer we were one of the favorites to get even though it didn’t make any sense right there that’s why the Toronto Raptors are thrown out there in all these uh discussions and discourse so that’s the first kind of update that we have and that’s going to only get exemplified following uh you know Messiah’s departure also the new ownership group wanted to have someone that wasn’t so directly affiliated with the team wasn’t a supercharged larger than-l life figure he was d the de facto ownership uh figure going into these uh governor board meetings so that is kind of just stupid right that is that is another dumb reason why Messiah Jerry was let go was departed from the Toronto Raptors i broke down the multiple reports we got about Rogers not wanting to pay its executives a big salary which you know is is what it is like that is the definition of cheap i know people oh he paid Vladimir Guerrero Jr yeah but you know if they didn’t bring back Vlatty the Toronto Blue Jays fan base would have absolutely set fire to Roger Center it’s just what would have happened so basically they’re forced into that he didn’t really have a choice to move in that direction there and uh you know the things that you can cost cut on are executives no one cares about executives you don’t see the salaries and stuff like that right that’s uh you know that’s something that that a decision Edward Rogers tried to make to save some pennies out there relative to how much money these sports teams are making so that’s the first thing i mean he’s on you know like the the type of contract that you know Bruce Brown got paid more than Messiah Jury last year right who’s more valuable to this franchise what what are we talking about here but that is the first thing of course we also heard that he didn’t like that Messiah Juri was doing too much with Giants of Africa and stuff like that and then of course now you get this update that didn’t want a larger than life figure outshining you know the the face of the Raptors ownership group which is the new sports zar in Toronto Edward Rogers who’s you know getting that going so annoying absolutely annoying but that’s that’s an update there and then also we have some updates in regards to the trade situations as the Raptors have been involved a whole lot in trade conversations throughout this entire draft cycle so this has been going on with the fact that Messiah Jerry’s been out so that’s going to continue to play into its own and there’s conversations right now that are that the Raptors are still going to be looking at the trade markets for both RJ Barrett and Emanuel Quickley so I don’t think Toronto is done even though they are moving forward in a different direction Bobby Webster and Dan Tolsman will still be very active so that’s a lot that’s a lot of stuff to talk about in these trade scenarios and it all kind of makes sense because Bobby Webster was knew he was running the show for the past month I’d imagine in terms of everything that was going on here so all this discourse all this stuff because some people said “Hey maybe he Messiah Jury’s under pressure because he’s on the last year of his contract and wanted to make the team winning or else he’d be fired or left or whatever ended up happening.” That doesn’t seem like it’s only the it’s going to be magically fixed now by Bobby Webster who has a more secure contract going forward as this team’s GM edward Rogers wants this team to get back to winning back to making money back to playing you know in the first round of the playoffs right that’s what these owners want because they make a bunch of money when you get back into the postseason so that’s something that’s getting rushed it’s getting pushed and uh that’s why we are seeing rather than letting this group mature and develop and get into that spot you’re seeing pushes to get trades of RJ Barrett Emanuel Quickley and all these types of guys and of course I’ve shown these guys stats a ton over the course of this offseason rj Barrett averaging 21 points per game six rebounds five assists you know 35% at the three-point line 40% on corner threes and uh Emanuel Quickley 17 three and five or six last season you know 38% of the three-point line and 38% corner of threes 26 years old like the Raptors have a couple of guys that in this back court that are pretty pricey here now at this point but hopefully can take that leap next season I’ve been adamant especially in the case of RJ Barrett keeping him out here on the roster but especially where luxury tax is brought up a ton and ton and ton during uh you know the meeting from Keith P with uh with the media and stuff over the past couple days i wouldn’t be surprised the Raptors try to shed more salary and I don’t know if that’s going to be beneficial of course staying under the second apron it doesn’t make sense to cross that even if you have a owner that’s ready to pay ready to get rolling out there on that front but of course if you’re uh you know bring out the luxury tax and what are we really doing here but you know there’s teams interested in Manuel Quickley RJ Barrett the the Kings have been a name that’s brought up a ton we’ll keep you updated on all the specifics of these trade reports but we know the direction that’s happening with this team and don’t expect these rumors to slow down anytime soon so let me know what you guys think about all these updates all this news regarding this Toronto Raptor team you guys the best thing this far subscribe to the channel if you guys haven’t already anyways I’m signing out cheers

  1. If Raptors management wants to unload IQ and RJ, sounds like they want to dump salary and have an inexperienced team full of minimum wage players. I’d be boycotting raptors merchandise and not going to any raptors games at all! Hit Mr. Rogers where he feels it most-his pocketbook!

  2. So looks like we are back to chasing the hedo turkaglues and rudy gays of the world. Playing 3d chess overpaying laundry fields to land a 40 year old steve nash so we can have a star!! Back to being a casuals dream!! All big names zero roster fit lets go!

  3. IQ trade would be wise. I didn't have much faith in him..would rather have an aging Westbrook run point.

  4. BS. I will believe it when I see it. The Raptors have been rumored have be making a big move for almost a year. BI was not a major move. Just another redundant piece that shoots a little better but has injury problems

  5. I was so excited for Raptors next season.. Now it's over.. Kudos to you Ed Rogers.
The new sports Czar of Toronto… haha more like a loser who always got picked last in team sports, now used money to feel like he's something in the sports world…
    Pathetic.

  6. this team needs to stay together exactly as it is. we can evaluate at christmas and see where we stand. pending we are under .500, deal who you need to deal before the deadline and we will go from there. far too many people (are they even fans? a bit too toxic to be fans) think they can snap their fingers and perfection just appears haha. good grief. the current roster, barring any injuries, will net us a 6th spot in the east next year. watch. go raps!

  7. Rogers is cheap and vane, and over controlling. And If Keith P has been leaking trade rumours, it’s just dumb for you to report that crap until there’s a real deal.

Based on what Keith said, it seems like MLSE are selling out to 🇺🇸 CAA just like the Knicks did. Look how well that went for them. OG, happier? Precious sitting out. Team of high paid stars made it Into the playoffs and poof. Gone.

Masai opened doors and backed Bobby and team so Toronto could build together to compare to GSW or OKC. And then Keith justifies firing Masai by saying he knows there’s a low chance of winning as 1 team among 30, but owners want a deal within a year. Keith made the decision for Rogers and MLSE, while completely tone deaf on what it means to gather and grow talent and garner respect of people based on genuine integrity and a sense of human potential.

I am sick of rumours about the winning whims of disrespectful (stupid) profiteers who have no respect.

Give Keith what he dishes out. Fire Keith, Mr Rogers’ flying monkey.

  8. Not going to get a more legit PG/SG in return for IQ or RJ, b/c they are all locked in. It would take at least a year to potentially get up & coming guards like Jalen Williams or Keyonte George, even a young vet like Cobi White. Honest best option money wise is trade IQ, let RJ play big at PG. BI & Scottie can act weird & look him off but he will still pass and get buckets.

  9. what is immanuel quickleys worth, what is rj barrett worth? barrett is probably worth a young player and filler and a mid 1st.

quickley having been injured and not playing much and on a big contract, to kings he is probably worth monk, valanciunas, 2nd round pick maxime renauld, and the hornets 2026 2nd round pick.

ochai value probably two or three 2nds, because he is due for a big raise. if they wanted a late 1st for ochai, they should have moved him at trade dead line or draft.

  10. uhm, did everyone forget that Masai took a bad Kyle Lowry deal just so he could land in Miami or waited oto long on Pascal and OG as well as handled the FVV situation questionably when many of us would had traded him long before Houston gave him the offer that they did. Also, lets not act like Bobby is a fool, the fanbase trusts him as well.

  11. There’s more behind the Masai firing than some people think. Ed Rogers and Trump are literally friends. There’s pictures of Ed Rogers and his wife at mar a lago with trump. Trump probably told him get rid of that guy that’s working for you that’s friends with Obama. Google Ed Rogers and trump and tell me what you see ?

  12. 15m for a President, who also wanted a bonus based off of how much the value of the franchise went up. 15m is quite a bit for a bit for a President when you already have a GM. What is he doing that the GM isn't doing? And the 15m that he was currently getting already made him one of the highest paid executives in the league and a new contract means a raise when he's already top 5… You can call it cheap, I just call it simple logic.

  13. This team is good ! It will make the playoff this year ! Depending how BI fits and performs , it might be better than people think. They are bloated with PG 's now so maybe IQ can be traded along with others for that Bigger Fish ! Who would that be to move the needle ? JA MORANT needs a change in venue to renew his focus on basketball. Would RJ, IQ AND OTHERS PLUS PICKS GET IT DONE ?

  14. We should not do crazy moves. Just make small move to help C depth and balance roster. This should be done next day or so before FA.
Ochai + Colin C To Chicago for Jalen Smith. Yes maybe we lose this trade but balances team. For those looking at Queen or Sorber JS is about 1/4 of an inch taller with 7’ 2” wingspan and shoots 34% from 3 on 3 attempts per game over last 4 years and will give you 6 reb, 9.5 points in 18 mpg. Speaking of Sorber we could still trade for him which would hurt our books but help theirs. We have many young players now.
T Sorber for 2026 first top 10 protected. 2026 looks deep as many top players and many college return players this year will fill the value up. I know the team likes Ulrich but this lets him develop more naturally and if he is part of the C roster room in a few years great!

  15. What other player could use a change to renew their focus on basketball. Can you name some names that could move the needle other than Giannis because he won't come here now that Masaii is gone. If he ever would even when Canada is a better place to raise his kids , less chaos than a Conman Trump's America , much safer !!

  16. Questionable drafting and roster construction, ended confidence in Masai’s vision. Getting rid of Pascal, Fred, OG, Norm. Lowry, Ibaka, Gasol without a proper replacement was too much

  17. lol Jake Fischer hears buzz – unreliable. Also incorrect – Larry was who went the board of governors meetings brokered the deal for the Tempo; served on all the boards – not Masai.

Edward is just Edward – he's nice enough to talk to – but he spends a lot of time on the right wing side of the internet – and he likes things his way. He's rarely on camera by choice – he has a mild disability. He has Keith for the public stuff – and Kieth is great and has always been an Edward guy – even when he headed Rogers Sports media and won the NHL contracts. But despite being a mild recluse – Edward knows all of his businesses very well and is quite hands on. Edward is Edward, Keith is Keith – that is never changing. And the one thing in this report that is true is Edward doesn't want leaders that outshine the team or brand – Hence him whacking all of them now. But Jake is just covering what others wrote. Edward isn't super cheap in my experience at all – but he doesn't like to blatantly overpay or invest without probability of an outcome- whereas Tim Liewickie wanted the absolute best and overpaid to get Masai and Shanahan – And got it all done because Liewickie had support from Bell and Larry outvoting Edward. He'll ( Edward) absolutely remember all of that now that he can't be outvoted. Edward is the force of nature whom went to war with his mother and sister what- just less than 2 years ago to oust their named CEO – ( and won ) He's not somebody you want to be on the wrong side of per se – and he'll absolutely fix things that were out of his control previously – it's who he is.

Bell is gone now and Larry wont be around much longer it seems. Liewicke got pissed off at dealing with fights in the boardroom between Rogers and Bell etc – Tim quit MLSE went and got the Seattle NHL franchise for himself ( He owns it ) instead of dealing with owners he now owns. But in Masai's case Masai ran a bunch of programs and initiatives that would make Edward bristle – and he'd see as "woke" rather than engaging the communities and pulling in more revenue. I could see Kieth's comments of everything is in a good place – so we could make this move – being a direct result of Edward saying – Why do I need to overpay this guy when everything is in place. 😁 What are we buying ? (A very Edward thing to say during the times I had access to him)

It's just when you own a sports property you have to understand there is two owners – you and the fanbase. And while views; ad spend, ticket sales, merch and impressions do matter; Owners sometimes miss the blatant fact all of these are simply lag indicators – and the lead indicators are deep strong roots in the community. It's easy to miss when it's MLSE – because the Leaf's roots were so deep before any of these owners were alive – it's just been that way forever and they expect the same from the other sports properties. It's been proven endlessly that mirroring community and engaging community is how franchises are built – and how Masai rebuilt the Raptors. Masterfully. Remember him taking the fines for swearing at Brooklyn on the stage ? Masterclass to engage the people and that's just one example. So when you make moves like this to remind everyone who's in charge on a personal level (which this is – because it sure as F$%^$ wasn't basketball; revenue, equity or community related all of those are up ) they always fail terribly – because you whacked the guy whom built and strengthened the roots of this organization.

There has already been significant season ticket cancellation – I expect at least one high profile player trade demand likely more.. it's going to take MLSE years to recover from this.

I wouldn't feel bad for Masai. Let the dust Settle. Masai is a family guy with young kids here in school. I would not be super shocked if Larry taps him to develop the Tempo to its launch and big time success. The NBA doesn't want expansion per se – but it really wants a do-over in Seattle and Vancouver with owners whom get it. Tim Leiwickie is out there. When Larry gets bought out in just under 2 years – I'd bet all I have that Larry puts money into that effort with Tim Leiwickie ( two highly respected individuals in the leaugue office ) and they tap Masai to build that ground up the right way when his kids are a little older. Masai without stupid billionaire games to deal with and a blank slate or two is a pretty amazing sounding thing.

  18. Pelly said that the roster is set. I suspect he misspoke. I do not believe the big fish rumors. I believe that the next President will make the next major trade

  19. The Raptors are just about to go for the shots. When you have people that don't know jack about basketball trying to tell you how to do things, that's when your lost.
Side note: Players are not dieing to play in Canada so good luck with that.

  20. Here can you even see rap fans saying IQ is a good baller and not overpaid. What an insane world.
Barnes is already a problem by himself. Time has already proved that he aint the leader of the team. He is not, and will never be, a player like Giannis. Time to face the truth, people.
