🚨JUST IN: Miami Heat Re-Sign Davion Mitchell! Heat News

breaking news Miami Heat fans davon Mitchell is back with the Miami Heat yes the top free agent Miami had to be is back with this group he is signing a two-year $24 million deal to stay with Miami he was a restricted free agent to be on Monday the Heat did extend the clawing offer at 8.7 mil so he comes in at about three what is that 3.3 mil more than that qualifying offer i think it’s a fine deal but this is why you subscribe to the channel i took a little two-day vacay to Nashville to visit a friend before fancy starts on Monday i was sipping on a nice beach uh peach bush light there and we had to still come and make a video here so subscribe for the top heat coverage on YouTube but let’s break down more around DaVon Mitchell because ever since he was traded for at the deadline where it was PJ Tucker and a second round pick as Pat Riley was swinging deals at the deadline moving on from uh Jimmy Butler and then swinging Dennis Schroeder and just there was a bunch of crazy deals that ultimately went down davon Mitchell was probably the brightest spot for the Heat down the stretch of the season he played in 30 games for Miami started about just over half of them and had the best numbers of his career he averaged 10 points a game shot 50% from the field and 45% from three in those 30 regular season games for Miami he was also the only player that I thought actually rose his level of play in the playoffs against the Cavaliers i know that the Heat got swept in embarrassing fashion but if you look at these players on Miami their regular season efficiency and numbers compared to those four playoff games DaVon Mitchell was the only one that consistently bumped up their numbers and efficiency and then if you factor in the playin as well which a lot of people are split on if they should have even won those games DaVon was unbelievable he didn’t miss a shot off the bench for Miami in that game against Chicago and we know that he made Trey Young his little kid in that other playin game during the overtime period against the Atlanta Hawks this is a player that bleeds Miami Heat culture if you were to build a Heat like kind of guard in a lab DaVon Mitchell is that his hard nose his commitment to winning his ability to defend at the point of attack and facilitate for others that is what Miami is looking for and we knew that the Heat wanted him back we knew that they expected him back i thought that Pat Riley and company were going to maybe just let him test the open market see what another team could value him at and then match that contract because he was a restricted free agent or let him walk if like a team like Brooklyn ultimately gave him like $18 million or something like that over two or three seasons but they worked something out they got something done with DaVon Mitchell before free agency starts on Monday at a relatively solid price point are you fired up that DaVon Mitchell is back with the Miami Heat type Y for yes type N for no today’s pin comment but if you hit with the YouTube ad break scroll down let it play and answer today’s question all right so we talked about DaVon coming back i want to talk about a couple things here before we go further on in this video one is my thought on the actual contract two what does Miami do from this point on in free agency well we’ll start with the contract i have longly projected a three for30 deal a three for 333 deal like $11 million per season and I did anticipate it being three years but I am shocked it was only two like I anticipated three fine with two um and I’m fine with two because it’s a little bit of a higher AAV i mentioned 10 or 11 mil per season the fact that it came in at 12 two for 24 a little bit shocking to me but I’m cool with it with it only being two years because the last thing this Heat team needs to do is allocate a decent chunk of change for the future over a lot of different seasons so that is not the case here it’s only this season and the year after so if we ultimately see that this 30-game sample size where DaVon Mitchell was unbelievable shooting 45% from three was a farce and he’s not going to be able to do this consistently well Miami is not married to a player for more than just one season after this one and just say it does go bad this year well then next year it’s an expiring $12 million deal where you can either use that in a trade or just let it expire and have more money in free agency for the 2027 off seasonason so I do like the structure for the Heat it also allows DaVon Mitchell to prove this wasn’t a fluke and that he could maybe bounce back and have a full year of those type of numbers where he then could cash him on a bigger contract from the Heat or a different team in two off seasons it did get reported by Sham Sharan that it is a fully guaranteed deal so it’s not a oneplus 1 it is two years davon Mitchell will be in Miami the only question that we have to see around Mitchell now for the rest of the offseason is what will his role be on this Heat team will he be the starting point guard or will he be that change of pace guard off the bench heat obviously drafted Illinois point guard Casper Yakonis with 20th overall pick and if it was up to me I would start the 19-year-old rookie because this Heat team is not going to compete for an NBA championship this upcoming season i don’t think I’m breaking any news on that so if you’re not competing for a title you might as well play the young guys let them make mistakes let them learn from those mistakes let them develop to only help you in the future plus I also think DaVon Mitchell is better served as a change of pace kind of guy off the bench rather than being a starter and some players are just like that and I think that is very very fine one example is TJ McConnell from the Indiana Pacers he was unbelievable he would have been my vote for finals MVP if the Indiana Pacers won that game seven against OKC i would have voted him over a Pascal Siakum or Tyresese Halburn if he didn’t get hurt but the reason why he is so effective is because he plays at a,000% for those 6 to 8 minute stretches he’s in the ball game he can’t sustain that over a course of a season playing 30 plus minutes a night and even though Dave did play 30 plus minutes in those 30 games for Miami and did extremely well he is going to be at his most effective point when he is playing 24 25 minutes off the bench giving that a,000% effort on the defensive end being able to knock in some threes off the catch and run a pick and roll when hero is playing off ball or on the bench and with Casper Yakona so that $12 million deal to me signifies he could be a starting point guard but also a backup point guard it doesn’t put him in to any specific role if he got more than 15 okay that’s a starting role but under 15 under that non-t taxpayer mid-level okay that is then a any type of role point guard and I would personally start the young point guard from Illinois and Casper Yakonas now a lot of people are going to ask me what does this mean going forward for Miami this does put the Heat in a little bit of a predicament now getting this deal done so early before free agency before they trade a Duncan Robinson before they trade a Terry Rosier or an Andrew Wiggins they now don’t have the most cap space they also are at 15 players on the roster 15 that is the maximum you can have in the off season going out of the way of two ways and exhibit 10ens they have 15 standard contract guys so as things currently stand they could not sign another player to the roster on a standard deal so the only moves that you will see Miami make in this next week or so are trades because they can’t sign anybody i expect them to have to make a decision on Duncan Robinson are they going to wave him to free up that $10 million in cap space and free up a roster spot before his contract guarantees at 19.8 on July 7th or July 6th or are they going to still try to hold out to that deadline and potentially trade him in a deal to recoup some assets or get a bigger contract to Miami are they going to finally trade Terry Rosier we know there’s a lot of buzz between Andrew Wiggins being traded but the point is with DaVon Mitchell signing before free agency on Monday the Heat no longer can make a move in free agency because they already at the max standard contract type of players so they could wave someone they could make a trade to where they are trading two players to get one um three players to get two which frees up a roster spot you can make a sign-in trade for like a Jonathan Kaminga like we’ve talked about where you give him $27 million on AAV over three seasons trade out Kyle Anderson and Himeme Hawkins Jr which means you bring in Kaminga but you also free up our roster spot either way there are a lot of different ways Miami can go about doing this going forward in the off season but starting with free agency on Monday they don’t really have any space to make a move unless they trade someone first so if you are a Heat fan wondering what is next for Miami well it is going to have to be a trade in some capacity and we will 1. Great move Miami. Kid love being here and I believe we're going to see another level of him this year. He's able to take care family and now focus on being the best version of himself in a Heat uniform

  2. Steel sharpens steel, The Heat need him so Casper the new number one pick doesn't turn out to be a ghost on the court.;-)

  3. Andrew Wiggins definitely has value. Robinson, Rozier and slo mo are expiring contracts which have value. Make trades for young players, prospects and picks.

  4. Y. 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉.

I don't care if Mitchell is starting or coming off the bench, we finally have a viable PG rotation between him and KJ (maybe even throw in Dru Smith if he recovers and continues his play).

  5. I Like the Mitchell add but don’t like it happened before Sunday when Duncan situation was completed now we have issue with the apron because of it .and u no what that means

  6. When Miami was getting slapped out raw in the first round Davion was the only one who looked like he was trying. Happy to have him back 🔥

  7. Let’s go! We got another regular role player I’m happy for the mediocre season will have

  8. Pray they use him as a trade chip to trade with either Washington, Milwaukee Utah or Phoenix (Phoenix has 4 centers) Yang Hansen.
