Coward drafted to Blazers, traded to Grizzlies
now with the 11th pick in the 2025 NBA draft the Portland Trailblazers select Cedric Coward from Washington State University
well WSU Cedric Coward officially heading to the NBA thanks so much for joining us tonight for this special edition of 4 News Now i’m Derek Dice
and I’m Kirsten O’ Conor sydney Burgerer is joining us of course and Coward was drafted to the Portland Trailblazers but that’s probably not where he’s going to end up Sydney
yeah right after he heard his name called reports came out saying a proposed draft with the Memphis Grizzlies would take place so that sends him over to Memphis coward just worked out with the Grizzlies though on Monday so clearly he made a lasting impression coward ties the highest pick in Washington State history with Klay Thompson also going 11th overall and Coward’s story is one of the more unique ones in this draft going from division three to a first round draft pick in the moments following hearing his name called Coward told ESPN “Even if you don’t start on the biggest stage it doesn’t mean you can’t make it there.”
