how’s it going Khan i guess first just your thoughts on uh your draft night by the Hornets and uh what do you hope to bring to the team you know obviously super excited uh to be drafted uh here especially in an area where I’m familiar with um in North Carolina um you know obviously I’m I’m coming in and and just going to give it give it my all all right away and and be ready to work hard and and uh hopefully affect winning in a big time way then what do you think is your biggest attribute that you will bring to the NBA what do you think is your best skill set that you will show people that you can do with this level yeah I think obviously uh the best part about my game is my shooting um and that’s something I’m always can rely on but I think there’s a lot more to me as a player than that um and so hopefully uh get there and and keep getting better mike go ahead hey Color Mike Solar Spectrum News1 good to see you again after following you through the tournament uh obviously when you played in Spectrum Center in the ACC tournament did you ever let the thought creep into your mind that that would be your home gym going forward uh not really uh to be honest I I didn’t think about it too much um in that time but it’s uh pretty cool how life can come full circle like that and Danielle go ahead hey Colin this is Danielle Stein with WCNC here in Charlotte congratulations um just from an emotional standpoint I know you’re someone who seems to keep pretty even keel but are you able to kind of describe what was going through your head when you heard your name called for overall oh yeah obviously super excited um you know I I wasn’t I wasn’t too nervous uh coming into this week but once once sat down in the green room you know that the nerves start to start to come a little bit um and when when you find out that that Charlotte’s going to take me I was I was beyond excited um and just what a what an unbelievable blessing james question for Con hey Colin james Ply from Busby and Charlotte Culture curious from your pre-draft visit to Charlotte are there any kind of uh moments or interactions with any of the staff the owners the players you kind of like you stand out when you look back on your pre-draft visit yeah I went I went to dinner um dinner with with coach Coach Lee and and Jeff Peterson and it was it was a really really good time um you know they they separated themselves you know I knew them uh a little bit from the interview um the interview at at the combine um and you know I I I really liked them right away um but that definitely that dinner uh was big time and and and getting to know them thank you welcome Charlotte mike Lette go ahead
congratulations on getting picked uh if you listen to a lot of scouting reports on you they all respect your game but there is some curiosity in terms of where your game could develop is in what’s your peak in your mind what does con 2.0 look like where is your ceiling yeah I think I think the you know obviously always have the shooting there um the areas uh to grow are just becoming more dynamic uh with the ball um and and off dribble shooting and become becoming more of a weapon that way um and then also just just improving my squeezing every inch of athleticism out of my body uh as I can and uh improve that way matt go ahead khan welcome to Charlotte a couple guys in place on the roster Brandon Miller and LaMelo Ball how do you feel like you accentuate their strengths and what excites you about playing with those two guys specifically yeah you know um obviously those guys are great great basketball players um and I think something that that really jumped out uh at Duke was you know not being the best guy and how are you going to affect winning when you don’t have the ball um what what are some other ways that you can contribute um so I think I can compliment them well off the ball um moving moving as a shooter um and then just bringing my energy on both ends of the floor walker question for Khan
hey Khan congratulations man welcome to Charlotte so did you think you were going to come to Charlotte and if not Charlotte was there another team in mind that you thought might draft you uh after the visit we uh we felt really good really good about Charlotte we kn we knew we were in a good spot there um we we definitely thought um we we were really in play uh there at four and obviously we were um but we we felt good uh about about some other spots too jack go ahead hey Con congratulations again and welcome to Charlotte thank you um so of course we’ve all heard about the Ball brothers over the years but now we’re learning about the Flying Canipples as well you feel like uh y’all are going to be the next great kind of uh brothers of basketball to come through the NBA and could Charlotte see any more canipples coming through in in the future uh we’ll see uh I think uh the boys the boys got to keep working hard and and then loving the game and and getting the gym every day um I know they will but uh uh that that would be awesome if that happens but you know the the likelihood of that is is not is not high but I I think uh you know they’ll be great players in their own right hunter go ahead welcome to Charlotte uh the the Hornets held their their training camp in Durham last year on Duke’s campus did you get to meet any of the guys then what were those interactions like last season they they tried to do a good job of of keeping us out of the gym um I know one of the days they they ran long so so a bunch of us players got to see uh see NBA training camp in action which was really cool experience um I didn’t get to talk to any of the guys really at the time um but I had had some good interactions uh on my visit there mike last question for Khan
hey Khan uh I know that the emotion of being drafted and all those things the realization of a dream has kind of been the overwhelming thought for you but have you had a moment to kind of figure out how you factor into this lineup and the guys that you’ll be playing alongside and or are is that still down the road for you in terms of your your thought processes i haven’t I haven’t thought about it uh too much yet um I definitely feel confident in my ability to to be able to affect winning um with with any group of guys out there um and uh I I I have good confidence in in my ability to find a way to be an effective player out there
