Bulls Select Lachlan Olbrich With The 55th Pick
so the Bulls after trading away their original second round pick at number 45 to the LA Lakers for of course none other than cash considerations because nothing is more on brand for the Bulls than trading away a second round pick for cash but after moving back 10 spots to get the 55th pick the Bulls ultimately used that selection on the Australian big man Lachland who I’ll be honest I know nothing about had not heard of this guy prior to the Bull selection that’s not an indictment on him more so on me because I usually just look at first round prospects when doing player assessments but in looking into this guy a little bit actually somewhat of an intriguing player yet another big 610 big man the Bulls last three draft picks now all coming in at 610 dating back to last year’s pick of Modus Buselis for Lachland you know a little bit older of a prospect at age 21 which is expected in the second round he has been playing professionally for the MBL in Australia since he was 18 he actually played well in his lone season at UC Riverside even earned Big West Freshman of the Year honors my guess is he probably went back to the MBL so he could earn some money while playing i think what impressed me in seeing some of his tapes is that he’s actually a pretty mobile big that has shown off his athleticism and footwork in the paint uh he was invited to the NBA combine and actually put up 31 points and 17 rebounds in a combine scrimmage uh he’s pretty solid at cleaning the glass and knowing where he needs to be in the pick and roll decent shooter for a big okay defender i mean I’m not going to get my hopes up on this as most picks that are above 50 in the draft rarely make a full-time roster spot let alone becoming contributing rotational players but he looks decent for a 55th pick and the fact that he’s been productive and already has a lot of accolades to his name playing in one of the better professional leagues in the world does say something about the potential there for him to be more than just a two-way player now it was confirmed shortly after the Bulls made their selection that he will in fact be on a two-way deal where he’ll spend part of his time with the Windy City Bulls and the other with the Big League i doubt we’ll see him getting much playing time outside of some garbage time for the Bulls in this upcoming season but he is going to be more than just a draft and stash which was initially anticipated from reports that the Bulls would likely take a player in the second round and hold their draft rights while they continue to play overseas but he will be coming over on a two-way deal so who knows we’ll see if things pan out for this kid i would have preferred the Bulls to just had the 45th pick instead of handing over cash to Jerry Reinddorf but it’s kind of splitting hairs at this point in terms of the difference in talent at number 45 versus number 55 anyway for those of you Australian basketball fans let us know anything else we might don’t know about this kid not much on this guy in terms of his overall scouting report so let us know in the comments and as always guys be sure to subscribe and I will see you in the next one

Alright we have to move PWill sometime soon
2024 new Zealand league MVP and finals MVP
I don't know about skill wise but he's definitely one of those players that plays at 101% every game and is a good locker room presence. Even if he only plays limited minutes I can see him being a guy that could spark the bulls when they're down in games due to his sheer effort. Can't really complain about a 55th overall pick anyways so good pick in my opinion
He played well in the 1 of the scrimmage games at the draft combine i remember after the game the analysts mentioned him specifically. the user Swish has the full scrimmages and the highlights for anyone interested. Scrimmages 2 and 3 i believe he played in
I wonder did he play with Josh Giddey on the Australian Team in last year's Olympics ? If he was on the Australian Olympic team with Giddey I don't remember him .
6ft 10 banger in the box. Good in the post, strong rebounding and 2nd chance point getter. Limited jump shot range, but his starting center got injured in the finals and he had a great finals series in the NBL. Hes a proper old school power forward. Nice first touch, good passing, can also dribble into his range.
"The Lach-Ness Monster"
Am I the only one questioning this decision? Like I was initially happy when we selected Rocco and then we traded the pick away to the t wolves? Donāt know why we picked up another forward as if we donāt have matas and now essengue. The bulls needed a center and we passed up on that opportunity
None of these players can help us he Bulls right now.
Poor man's Sengun?
Marco Simonovic 2.0
I'm shitty coz we had a 7'3 centre in Rocco Zikarksy literally fall in our hands and Bulls go fuck it up like always
Even if he turns out to be a solid pick for the bulls, this will not make the team to be a contender in the East this upcoming season coming year. Chicago has bigger problems than just drafting players.
It should have been an American born athlete. NBA is turning into the MLB.
Might as well draft Kai Sotto 𤣠šš
Some teams should be exempted from the draft, Chicago being part of them. A bad environment for developing players
Plays kind of like Mark Gasol. Building around Giddey now.
LOL………this guy is not going to see an NBA floor. He is just someone that will be on G league roster and pay salary for tax purposes……this too comical. So to please the sponsors you going to make some G league videos too right…….take a vacation you definitely earned after this video…….
Heās good. Gives a 110% every game and has good attitude. He really fought his way up from the bottom by playing well in the combine. Heās a good connector as a four spot with developed IQ. So heād fit in well with Giddey and Huerterās playing making. He doesnāt really have a defined game eg 3 and D style, but heās works well as a forward. He had to play centre sometimes in the NBL but heās not an NBA centre. He won a championship in the NBL season just past and Justin Tatum (Jayson Tatumās dad) was his coach. If he works on things like a baby hook heāll be good. His footwork and ability to run the floor are good too, which fits in with the bulls too.
i live in australia and he is a good big but i dont know if he is good enough to play NBA yet but we will see what he can do.
Aussie aussie aussie!!!
Iām an Aussie and have seen lachie play a few times over the last nbl season and as a bulls fan Iām so hyped for this. This kid stepped up in the finals as their best player did his Achilles tendon in game 4 (itās a 5 game series here). Lachie stepped and was physical on the glass and has a high IQ always made the right pass and was selfish when he had to be. Never been more excited as an Aussie and bulls fan to see him and giddey potentially share the court for the team I love.
He's more developed than zikarsky, Olbrich is a tough player, has made big improvement every season, if his stats dont look impressive its because he played under a more established big, sam frolling, and keep in mind the NBL play fiba rules, smaller court, so its harder to score etc. i think he will suprise people in the summer league.
The Chinese dude would of been golden š
So what's frustrating about this pick is the Bulls could have easily put together a package to trade up 3 spots instead of down, and they could have walked away with Maxime Raynaud, who probably should have been a 1st rounder. Hopefully this no name Aussie turns out to be the 2025 Jokic. I HIGHLY doubt it though.
The Bulls picks in a vacuum are fine and aline with their vision. IMO this front office suffers from tunnel vision and hasnāt shown an ability to adapt to real time fluctuations in the player/draft market. Things can workout long term but they are fighting an uphill battle with these shortcomings.
Based on the very few videos that I have seen, I like the way he movesāvery smooth and graceful for a big. It would be nice to get some info on his athletic ability, like how high he can jump.
I can only wonder if the Bulls wouldāve been a little more creative with that 2nd round pick and perhaps packaged it with PWill to move up in the second round to maybe get a better prospect big like Fleming instead of tossing it for cash and helping the Lakersā¦just a thought. Seems the rest of the league doesnāt take the Bulls FO seriously, and rightfully so when you see moves like this.
Heās 6ā8 230 isnāt explosive cat defend, and will only play at the NOW Center, what is wrong with everyone? Bittam was a way better prospect and he is gone and never really developed and everyone raved about him. This is horrific. They should have stated at 45 or just traded the pick for a future second if youāre just gonna throw it away on a guy who will never play. I donāt wanna argue, just wait one year heāll be in the Australian league . This draft was a mess.
Lakers saw enough talent to move up twice in the second round. Bulls grab some cash to move down. And they made trade before the 2nd round was underway. What team would not want to wait to see who was available? DA Bulls. Also the 45th pick was another Aussie – younger and much bigger. Good athlete.
Love how he always finishes on the opposite side of the rim of where he starts his post move
BULLS SHOULD DRAFT KID FROM NORTHWESTERN.
Zach Collins replacement for the cheap
⤠it.

This guy is balling better than
Terry
Tucker
Liddell
Phillips
He doesn't need the G League
I'm convinced Bulls will be a very good defensive team and likely also very good in transition. Bulls have done nothing to improve offense though… shooting the rock esp from the 3 will struggle. Where is the offense going to come from?
Lach was amazing this past year and a half. The NBL is a place to come and play to grow your game and be on the full roaster and starting five. More and more players are doing this to get into the NBA as it is a very watched stage for recruiting and keeps the players playing for money. Clearly, this plan is working as the league is pushing players to the NBA every year now. Personally, I prefer the way the NBL plays the game. It is not simply fast past showman goals like the NBA. This Australian game is very technical and intense on the defence and really gets this audience watching and engaged in the game.
Woulda much rather did what Lakers did and moved up for Fleming or Thiero
These mfs trying SO hard to have a team with NO significant American talent which will NEVER work and it NEVER has šš¤¦šæāāļødvmbfxcks just traded Zo for Okoro BUMazz! drafter that SOFT AZZ French dude over Queen and Sorber and probably gonna trade Coby instead of Pat Will BUMAZZ
