BREAKING: New Thunder Trade… This Solves OKC’s Biggest Problem | Thunder News
we have breaking news as your Oklahoma City Thunder just made a trade they traded Dylan Jones to the Washington Wizards and I see some fans talking about it like why would they do this why are they trading Jones is talking about it as well like what do we get in return they saw we got Kobe Jones immediately cut him not didn’t get even get a single pick in any future draft not even a second round pick whatsoever we traded five second round picks for Dylan Jones didn’t get anything in return after trading him i see a lot of people just overreacting to this trade not realizing what actually just happened as this solves the Thunder’s biggest problem going into next season all right they needed to make a trade there’s no way going around it the Thunder had to make a trade i get it they just won the NBA championship but no matter how you looked at how this roster was built and set up you had to make a trade before the start of next season so we’re going to break down the trade what happened why it was Dylan Jones traded over some other players as well and just go into a deep dive of what this really means for the Oklahoma City Thunder and the fan base talking about the trade as well just like hey why did this happen i’m going to tell you guys in this video before we get into all that though quick moment recognize that even though you guys have been blowing up this channel lately all right we got almost 1.5K subs in the past 3 days that is absurd i’ve never seen growth like that before for this channel so I’m really appreciative of that but now 80% of you guys that are watching these videos are not yet subscribed subscribe to the channel okay if you enjoy the content you find yourself coming back on regular basis or if you’re new to the channel and you like what we’re doing you like what you see here at the channel go ahead hit that subscribe button it’s the best way to support the channel let’s hit 5K before the weekend ends here all right with that out of the way let’s go ahead and talk about this trade what exactly happened well Dylan Jones was traded just now all right just recently I think past it happened 20 minutes ago by the time I’m recording this video all right this was a trade the Washington Wizards are trading Kobby Jones to the Oklahoma City Thunder in exchange for Dylan Jones and a Houston Rockets 2029 second round pick league sources told Hoop I didn’t use the Shams tweet just because it didn’t tell in full detail what the trade was michael Scott did all right so I want to go ahead and use that one there but so why why did they do this all right well they immediately cut Kobe Jones they immediately did it that freed up a roster space you might be thinking if they wanted to free up roster space why didn’t they just wave Dylan Jones or someone else on the team well Sam Prey he drafts people over players that’s what he does that he liked who Dylan Jones not only was as a player but he liked him even more as a person so he drafted Jones did everything he could to get him to this team and then became a problem because when they drafted Thomas out of Georgetown in this year’s draft they had 16 players on the roster you can only have 15 so someone ha was going to get traded i told you guys this before there was a trade incoming i thought it would have been moving up in the draft because Sam Prey really wanted to do that turned out not to be true but I told you guys a trade was coming and a lot of you guys didn’t believe me that a trade would have happened so this trade finally happened they freed up the space pressy just wanted to send Dylan Jones somewhere where he thought “Hey maybe you can succeed here and show off your potential to where in two to three years some contending teams want you as a backup point guard and you can truly develop into a good player.” That’s what he did that’s why he sent him to Washington there pure like purely just out of like love for the kid all right and being like “Look this is what we’re going to do for you.” And I just got to compare him to some other guys on this team and I don’t want to do this as like a bad thing whatsoever i’m just kind of showing you guys what’s going on so they So essentially look at the trade as trading Dylan Jones for Thomas think about it like that you want this as a young prospect all right 19 years old okay he averaged 14 and a half points a game in his freshman season along with eight and a half rebounds 2.4 assist okay shot 53% of the field he has potential for a shot it doesn’t look like those stats right there when you look at his form there is potential it’s just got to get him more consistent with that and a 3.4 win share okay 610 255 pounds he has a 76 Wingspan as well this is pretty much who the Thunder traded for like that’s how I’m going to break it down for you guys so you guys can understand what why this trade happened it wasn’t a just trade oh get rid of Dylan Jones it was a trade pretty much when you look at it Dill Jones or Thomas all right you had to pick your poison out of those two and then it also came down to who are you willing to trade out of who people thought were the three most likely trade candidates going into next season now I say three most likely three easiest guys that the team could end up trading all right number one of course was Dylan Jones and we can take a look at his stats from the last season as a rookie he averaged 2.5 points a game two rebounds assists per game and then you know not even half a blocker steal a game okay one foul a game 38% from the field 25% from three the efficiency was not there i’ve seen him play in some G-League games when I went and watched the blue play in person he has potential i can see the potential in Dylan Jones there was it ever going to be realized on the Oklahoma City Thunder though i don’t think so he he barely played last season and he needed to go to another team to truly realize his potential and become a you know potentially great player for any contending team in the future um 6’5 23 years old i think that’s another one of his downsides was the fact that he was 23 almost 24 years old as a rookie like that’s just you you can’t really live with those all right especially on a standard NBA deal on a two-way contract you can that’s why they drafted Brooks Barnheiser okay then we’ll go into the next player that some people thought would have been the easiest ship off i didn’t think he was at the top of the trade list but because of his contract you definitely could aj Mitchell and this guy is going to stay he’ll be here for at least another season in my opinion okay he averaged six and a half points a game two rebounds two assist and then almost a steal per game as well um along with 49% shooting from the field 38% from three if he didn’t get hurt and kept on playing the way he was all right before the playoffs got here maybe he would have even been in that playoff rotation and that 38% three-point shot we could have used but because of his contract just being 3 million a year and he only has one year left on the deal if the Thunder pick it up he would have been an easy contract to trade off of 65 he’s 23 years old he turned 23 not too long ago so he’s the same age as Dylan Jones just probably half a year younger uh 37% on corner threes 9 95% of his threes are assisted and uh 32% of all his shots are three-pointers i think AJ Mitchell is the better player than Dylan Jones you can kind of see in the stats as well i also think he fits what the Thunder want a little bit better okay he’s going to he’s a great backup point guard i think the Thunder are going to love that out of him and they want to see if he can develop and you know come back as a you know the same player or not if not even better after that injury because we didn’t really see him much in the finals or in the playoffs whatsoever the third guy a lot of people thought was going to going to be traded no matter what roster space just want him off the team i don’t know why thunder fans want him off the team he has a ton of potential all right is Usuzman Jen let’s go ahead look at some stuff from him all right these are some game logs and I picked you know months where he really stood out with some games now of course there are some duds in here like the nine minutes against Utah where he didn’t really do anything besides get a rebound and a foul uh Golden State where he got two rebounds and assist that’s it and then the um you know Clippers win where he only played three minutes there are some good games scattered in here though the Brooklyn win 127 to 101 he played 21 minutes five of eight from the field two of four from three 50% right there is his three-point number all right three rebounds two assist and a block he ended up getting 12 points that game only turned the ball over once so this is a game that kind of showcased the kind of potential he can have in a loss against Dallas which was a close game he played six minutes two of four from the field two of three from uh deep perfect from the free throw line a board and an assist okay maybe he should have played more that game and Thunder could have won who knows it doesn’t matter we won the final so that game doesn’t really matter in that month he averaged 4.3 points uh per game on 9.4 minutes per game so he looks solid he has moments where he really shines and showcases what kind of player he can be and then the final game log I will show you guys is this one right here from the month of March one that stands out to you is this Portland win 107 to 89 he played 36 minutes went six of 10 from the field four of six from deep had six boards one assist and two steals now he did have three turnovers got to watch that a little bit finished with 16 points though a great game from Usman Cheng he has moments like this where he really showcases what kind of player he can end up being but it’s only when he gets an extended amount of time that’s the common theme I see here and I think that’s another reason why I don’t want to say I want him to be traded but he would benefit in a in a trade send him to a rebuilding team have him get some real minutes and people will realize what kind of player he will be just right now he is competing against guys like Jay Dub Jay Will all right who Jay Will is the better player than Uzman Jenga right now isaiah Hartenstein Chad Homegr Sha Gildas Alexander Lou Dort Alex Cruso Aaron Wiggins all these guys are the guys he’s competing against for minutes especially the ones that play his position a little bit a stretch four you know or a small ball four like he you’re just not beating him out like you know he’s not beating any of those guys out for minutes he’s not he’s just not at that level yet because he hasn’t had the time to develop in games you only play so many G-League games you know to develop a little bit eventually you need NBA level caliber you know talent to play against and he hasn’t had that moment he dominates in the G-League but when he comes to the NBA he rarely ever plays so he doesn’t ever have the time or opportunity to really showcase what kind of player he is so a lot of people you know went ahead and wrote off Usuzman Jen and said he’s never going to be anything it’s the same thing with Dylan Jones people wrote off Dylan Jones because he rarely ever plays he just doesn’t all right and it’s because of how stacked this team is that is one of the downsides of having such a historically deep team people are going to get traded and people aren’t going to get minutes that’s the downside and Dylan Jones is the first victim to that this off seasonason so it’s all I got for this video let me know what you guys personally think about the trade and also do you know do you think if you know anyone’s going to get traded as well this summer do you think Usman Jen is gonna get traded do you think you know I see people throwing Isaiah Joe for some reason all right do you think Isaiah Joe is gonna get traded let me know in the comment section below

S/O Dillon Jones we needed everybody for this championship run and were wishing him good minutes in DC
Happy for Dillon jones, he’s gonna get to show how good his defense and rebounding is
I can’t wait to see sorber play .
He will get a ring presentation when we play the wizards 😂 his new teamates gonna be hella jealous
Pump and dump business decision moving a contract for roster space happens all the time
dillon jones the goat 🙏 go save the wizards
Love the hat man. Gallo is the best
Crazy we gotta do so much to open up a roster spot. And yeah i think Jones was kind of too far back in the depth chart. Mitchell and Topic are going to take all his minutes.
Ousmane Dieng is forever. Lolololol. #DiengGang
Feel like you and I have been having this Dieng discussion all season lol. I'm glad Ous and I have convinced you. Is gonna be a valuable role player for us.
I want presti traded for Danny Angie
Have to give these young players a chance to shine in their own right, move them along
The Thunder probably have enough draught capital to get Dyson Daniels
feels bad losing anyone on this roster tbh, but the good part is that I know that he's gonna be great on a developing team like the wizards
Still wish we got Jase Richardson (Def not a salty Spartan)
i feel sorry for dillon, he’s a cool dude. seems like he’s good friends with shai and dub
He’s forever a champion so he’s good no matter what. Good luck Champ
Should've traded Dieng
Ajay Mitchell is 6'3 not 6'5
We got a second round
I think Jones, Flagler, Ducas , Carlson and Dieng could let go if Topic is playing next season
I think its hard to move on from a player when they were on a championship team because you kinda see them as perfect you know but you gotta makes moves for the future of the league and players themselves. Hope Dillon does great things in Washington
I'd much rather keep Ajay than Dillon, but Dillon will be great on a team where he can get more minutes
I really do hope we trade ousmane dieng not because i dont like him or anything but the opposite actually I want to see him on a team that needs him more than us, like you said when he gets those minutes he becomes a really decent player but when the team is so stacked and you have so little minutes its hard to fit a player in. I’ll have love for him always but I think he belongs on a rebuilding team where he can really shine :3
They invested a lot in Ousmane Dieng. He is still young, big, and talented. With Sorber and Topic coming, Jones has no minutes. Jones will do wonderful with the Wizards. Next year, we have a bunch more 1st round picks.
Let’s be honest that’s not a big trade haha
Anyway nice video thanks
Can’t wait for summer league, let’s hope Topic and Sorber will play
He got a ring and now he can go make money with championship experience. Also get some more minutes.
Loved DJ. Whenever he was on the court, he played hard.
Congrats on the 5k thanks for the update mate!
I am late, but this was expected. Good luck in DC Dillon!
How can anyone complain about trading a player who now has a chance to flourish on a team that he can get to play and succeed. Sam is dealing and showing love for his players.
I know you have to deal with where your connection is bro but no bed in background…makes us look 12 years old. 😂 Rooting for you!
Dillion Jones gave me LeBron James vibes.. Strong scorer who could do everything
The roster was loaded just had to make a decision good luck and hope to see him get PT
He wasn’t good enough to stay with thunder foul too much
Traded away 2.8 million for 2 million, then cut 2 million… saved the Thunder $800K
I called this move 3 days ago. Check the comments. Now go get NAW and watch the 3peat in progress.
That was a good trade. Sam done a good job
I kinda like Dillon. He has a good built and I thought he has the potential to be a solid defender.
I love this trade!!! It was a terrible pick from Day 1. Sam is allowed an occasional stupid pick/trade as long as he doesn't double down.
I saw him play alittle and he was just everywhere and wasn’t a good fit good luck to him.
New to the channel that roby Jersey in the back. I know you true fan 🤣
Had to free up a spot get used to it guys gonna end up letting go of some guys we really like going down the line
Goodluck D Jones. Thank you for what you did in Okc! 2025 Champs!
Good for Dillion jones. Honestly any of these guys getting a bigger role and potentially a bigger contract elsewhere will always make me happy. Always an OKC LEGEND IN 2025
made the deal so we could get to 15 for the roster and we saved 9.5M on the cap
You need to include avg min per game for those stats to be useful. If SGA isn't being allowed to play more than 2 min a game, his stats may look the same.
I wouldn't cry for Jones. He went to a great city, especially good if he's not getting much play time.
