Lonzo Ball Is PERFECT For The Cavaliers!

Lonzo Ball Is PERFECT For The Cavaliers!

lonzo Ball has been traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers for Isaac Aoro And honestly it feels like a lowrisk highreward type situation for the Cavaliers Now Isaac Aoro very good defender but at this point you can’t trust his offense It seems like he’s going to be a liability on that end of the floor consistently in the playoffs The only thing you got to worry about Lonzo is of course staying on the court But if he’s on the court he’s going to be productive on offense and defense And if you paid close attention to him last season Lonzo when he was on the court the Bulls were playing winning basketball The eye test says it And also the advanced numbers per pivot.com 777 minutes They had a plus 100 in the plus minus category and a plus 6.3 net rating Their defense was way better with him on the court 110.5 with him on and then it skyrocketed all the way up to 117.2 when he was off the court And if you dig deeper into the advanced numbers you can tell he gets the best out of their best players because he’s a great facilitator and just a great connector offensively and defensively So I would say their top three players were Zack Lavine Kobe White and Josh Giddy It turns out he played the most with Josh Giddy 433 minutes plus 11.7 net rating Before Zack Lavine was traded he got 388 minutes with him plus 10.9 rating And then Kobe White last 357 minutes plus 8.9 rating The problem of course was just staying on the court Eventually he got reinjured and ended up playing only 35 games along with only 22.2 minutes per night The good thing about the Cavaliers is they showed they can win in the regular season They have a ton of depth At least last year they did So they should be able to ease Lonzo in making sure his body is right every single game If he needs a rest night give it to him It’s not going to hurt them too much I think they’re in a position as a team to really load manage him per se so he’s ready when it matters most in the playoffs It’s wild that Lonzo even got back on the NBA court He deserves a ton of respect for that and I think with a year under his belt some playing time hopefully that results in better efficiency all around Last season he shot 36% from the field but mainly I’m looking at that three-point shot I expect that to go up next season He shot 34% on 5.6 attempts per game And considering he only took 6.9 shots per game last season it seems like he’s turning into more of a catch and shoot player and facilitator on the offensive side of the floor In the three seasons before the major injuries you see 37% from three 37 again and then 42% But even though he was clearly rusty last year for a large majority of the games because he missed two straight seasons he still found a way to be effective because he has that basketball IQ that point guard-like mind He knows where to be He knows how to space the floor And when he has the rock and he has a chance to make his teammates better by generating an open look whether it’s a quick one more pass or in the pick and roll he’s he’s going to make that pass instantly without even thinking about it The rebounding defense and assist numbers were still there 3.3 assists per game 3.4 rebounds per game which means per 36 he was averaging 5.3 assists per game and 5.5 rebounds with one offensive rebound per game and he wasn’t turning it over that much either I also really like his fit with the other guards because he brings something different He’s six foot six He can play on and off the basketball and he plays defense so he’ll fit with Mitchell He’ll make the job easier for Mitchell defensively along with Garland along with Tai Jerome as well if they bring Jerome back And also Mitchell and Jerome are more score first guards Garland definitely more of the pure point guard of the bunch but he’s very very small Lonzo has this unique ability to fit next to anyone If you need more on ball playmaking he’s going to give you that But if you want him just sit off ball and let the superstars cook he’ll just adapt into a catch and shoot role and a connective passer And then defensively he’s going to be guarding the best perimeter player most likely fighting through screens and being very active off ball trying to get as many steals as possible Personally I’ll take the risk for Lonzo Ball every day of the week because when he’s on the court he is very impactful despite having a very small role I have faith in him staying healthy as well because he came back from an injury that people said should have ended his career The hard part is done now He just has to find consistency somehow someway Personally I think this is a home run trade for the Cavaliers Low risk high reward considering they didn’t give up much I mean they didn’t even have to throw in a second round pick But that’s all I got Let me know your thoughts below in the comments section Have yourself a great day and peace out
