Why the Nuggets WILL Trade for LeBron James and other Free Agency Rumors
lebron James to Denver exclamation point no okay we’ll we’ll have like a serious discussion about whether or not it would make sense if LeBron James were to want to be traded and were to come to Denver if the Nuggets should want to then trade for LeBron James plus uh free agent targets our reactions to the market rookie extension what’s that mean for Christian Brown Jared Dudley lots of stuff to get to on Locked on Nuggets you are Locked on Nuggets your daily Denver Nuggets podcast part of the Locked on Podcast Network your team every day welcome to Locked Onuggets your daily Denver Nuggets podcast part of the Locked On podcast network your team every day thanks for joining us making this part of your day being with us Monday through Friday being an everydayer doing all the things that make you so awesome being a true sicko for the Denver Nuggets we do appreciate you guys joining us on whatever platform you choose whether you’re youtube.com/locktonnuggets or joining us on the podcast side do appreciate you guys making us part of your day week month year life today’s show brought to you by Fanduel right now new customers can get $150 in bonus bets when your first $5 bet wins my name is Matt Moore i’m the senior NBA writer for the Action Network i write a site called the Denver Dig where I decided to do some typy type and talk about LeBron James and the possibility of him joining the Denver Nuggets we’ll talk about that on today’s show um this is not a reported thing this is a speculative thing just right off the bat now we’ll talk kind of about why it’s speculative here in a little bit he’s Ryan Blackburn he’s from Mile High Sports you know him from well being the greatest Eeyore that anyone could ever ask for the saddest the saddest and most pessimistic nugget saddest boy every everybody’s favorite sad boy
in all of Nuggets land is Ry everything sucks everything’s bad until they get LeBron and then they’ll win me over
and they’ll win you over um Steve says your clickbait worked i’m here glad to see you glad to see you guys joining us um like I said on today’s show we’ll talk about a number of things the rookie extension market we’ll talk about Jared Dudley and him interviewing for a coaching spot um all that and more but we’ll start today with this so LeBron opted into his contract his 52.6 million uh player option for 202526 with the Lakers and this is one of those things that I love where where it’s like LeBron opted in so he’s staying no he might leave then why do he opt in because that’s how he can leave by saying yes um the language that Rich Paul used in his statement to ESPN it’s interesting because none of it was in the past tense and yet all of it felt in the past tense and so uh speculation runs a muck of exactly exactly what’s going to go on and so I just decided to go ahead and run through like look you’re going to make the argument what is it and the cliff notes and I’ll get Ryan’s thoughts on it are Josh Kroni and him have a close relationship they have vacationed together like those guys know each other he’s tried to get in before couldn’t didn’t happen because LeBron was going to the Lakers yes it’s a weird one for it to be like Cavs Heat Lakers Denver but this is essentially the Wizards era for LeBron only he gets to end it on a better note than MJ did he gets to have a better closing act than Michael Jordan did and he gets to actually compete for a championship uh it keeps him two hour it’s a two-hour flight to LA it’s an hour flight to Vegas where he’s got business interests and hopes to one day own a team it’s a two-hour flight to Tucson Arizona where Bryce is going to go to school so for a guy that has his own private jet not bad for him to be able to just basically make it home now it does turn into a three-hour trip because of the Denver airport but ultimately not bad um
point out of Centennial
the ro the roster makes sense and for me honestly Ryan my big thing when I kind of went through the options and we’ll talk about kind of some of the the ways that it would work and again this is entirely speculative but some of the ways that it would work the biggest thing is I was like Denver could really use a $52.6 million expiring contract that would be useful for the Denver Nuggets
especially a short-term one where Denver has been holding on to the core for a variety of reasons but the biggest reason is that they believe they could win a championship with this group the only way that I think ownership would actually feel like you could justify breaking things up is if you turn those guys into better talent and it that’s hard to do especially with the contracts that they’re on unless it’s a large contract like Kevin Durant like LeBron James like these older superstars who have made a bunch of money in the NBA who are like still at the top of their games or pretty close to it and like would command a pretty significant hall uh but a lot of teams aren’t necessarily great fits for where LeBron is at where Kevin Durant is at it’s why the market was kind of shaped the way it was it’s why teams were lowballing these teams in in so many different ways especially with the Kevin Durant trade stuff there are a variety of other reasons too but for Denver specifically uh I think that they are very well positioned to at least consider this as a possibility because as you mentioned expiring contract you try this for a year with the like hypothetically the best player that Jokic has ever played with before that would have classified with Kevin Durant it certainly would classify with LeBron James and then you see where it goes from there and how much longer he or the Nuggets kind of want to continue it and if it isn’t for long if it’s just for one year you get that reset like you talked about in your article tonight which I think is very valid so it’s something that you have to call about that you have to consider you have to have a meeting about if it’s even possible and if you’re not having the meeting you’re just not doing due diligence
yeah i mean you have to you have to look at what it would take right um so Steve asked like how did you make the money work how do you match the 52 million so I put two kind of constructs in the article over at the Denver Dig and one of them is uh Michael Porter Jr with Zeke Naji is going to go out um I want to be very clear before we start this conversation that at no point in this do I think that these are good trades for the Los Angeles Lakers
yes like at zero point am I like you know what that this makes a lot of sense for no like this that this is not what they want okay
but just to interrupt you real quick lebron has a no trade clause doesn’t he
i do not know i do not think so but I do not know
i I thought that he had one um but somebody at least said that he had one i don’t know if that’s true maybe that’s not actually true but if there’s anybody that could dictate exactly where they want to go it’s probably the face of the league LeBron James uh they are incentivized to do right by him so it’s MPJ Zeke Pton Watson is the sweetener and then Hunter Tyson is the throw in they wave him um Payton is the hey you get a young guy you don’t have to you activate the team option and trade him you don’t have to pay him the extension you can evaluate him for a year and then you can use the restricted free agency to potentially get him back on the discount deal or if you really like him you can seriously invest in him because he’s a player that could really pop with MPJ i get it like I said all the things in the article defensive liability and doesn’t do this and blah blah blah the injury concerns and blah blah blah blah blah blah you still have Luca Donet shoot passing to a 610 50 40 90 shooter pretty good to put a put an offensive weapon around him yes yes i again all the reasons in the world for the Lakers not to do it this was a if it was the Lakers are like we will trade you where where you want to go because you are LeBron James and LeBron James was like I want to go to Denver then how does this work um a a one that is probably a little bit more serious is Jamal Murray Dario Saraj and Julian Strawther and the Nuggets then um we’ll have Vinnie Benadetto running uh point guard that would be
a compazo available like um Jake Shapiro Jake
he he’d be zipping around there but no I I think that obviously look if if Denver would have to give up the farm in order to give up LeBron James and maybe you do some amount of hesitation there but also you immediately become a little bit more of an incentivized free agent destination for a lot of people yes you get a you get people on the taxpayer mid level that you wouldn’t have gotten before you get people on minimums that you wouldn’t have gotten before and those are just like things that Denver’s not working with right now as we currently sit here like they’re not getting the top level free agents considering them and that’s that’s something we’ll talk about in the next segment but I do think that this is at least if you can open up the door to get better as a team you have to consider it it’s just a requirement
um Tony B who’s always in here complaining about the Crunkies and I understand why this is the silly topic lbj isn’t coming to Denver you think LBJ would put up with the Cronies i’ll tell you actually why he would up next on Lock on Nuggets summer sports are in full swing and whether you’re all about baseball under the lights golf on the green or high stakes soccer action FanDuel is the best way to make every game even more exciting you’ve already following the action why not make it a little bit more thrilling with FanDuel you can get in on the game while your friends are getting sunburned at the beach you can use their new daily promotions to find new ways to bet it’s easy to use fast to pay out and makes even regular season games feel like mustwatch events new to FanDuel new customers can bet just $5 and get $150 in bonus bets if your first bet wins open the FanDuel app today or visit fan.com to get started we’ll be right back on Locked on Nuggets back here on Locked on Nuggets thanks for joining us and making this part of your day appreciate you guys being with us uh so Tony said “Why would LeBron put up with the Kronis?” And here’s beyond his pre-existing relationship with Josh um here is what you need to understand and this is very very very very very very important kse is always willing to invest if there is a return it is elements that do not provide clear ROI that provide tangential theoretical or general ROI that they are uninterested in so a practice facility does not make them money unless they build condos and apartments and shopping around it which is what they continue to do that’s what they continue to pursue hiring a top-of-the-line GM an executive doesn’t make them more money because those people do not contribute points rebounds assists and they’ve always had success by not spending that money lebron James on the other hand immediately provides ROI immediately it helps with sales immediately it helps with sponsorships immediately it helps with attention immediately it helps with business opportunities there is any number of ways that it is actually profitable for KSC to be in business with LeBron James that my friend is why LeBron would be in into it because it would be entirely different by the way by the way by the way if LeBron’s looking for a situation in which he won’t get cut out like he did out of the Lakers situation late in his career how about one with no standing president of basketball operations an inexperienced front office for clutch sports to do what Clutch Sports does now you can say “I don’t like this it’s not worth it.” That’s fine i don’t This isn’t going to happen so like it’s cool we’re having a discussion
yeah because honestly it’s either that or I’m talking to Ryan about trying to think like who’s a good name on the
coffee baby
about Zire Williams yeah
who he thinks is a good NBA player
he’s all right
so we’re gonna do this one first
so anyway that’s kind of my thought on this Ryan it’s just like that’s like the argument from the the ownership side of why it would make sense
yeah i mean this is why I think it’s something that you have to at least have a conversation about and he’s a player that you have to have a conversation about no matter what there are obviously byproducts of having to invest in LeBron James and everything that comes with him but the Lakers have been pretty successful with LeBron they It’s not like like yes they’ve only won one championship during his time but they’ve also gone to the Western Conference Finals on m on multiple occasions they have been pretty consistent up there and I think that if you have Joic still at the top of his prime like the Nuggets can bolster LeBron during the regular season enough especially Joic as the the floor raiser that he is that when the playoffs come around you’re getting like everybody wants playoff Murray to continue to be in place you’re getting that with LeBron you just are as long as he’s healthy and that’s I think a very important piece of this that you’re guaranteeing that you’re going to have two top 15 players in playoff basketball and that’s just a fantastic baseline to have no matter what the cost is see and for me it’s it’s so because people are like I don’t want LeBron and I’m like the question is not do you want LeBron the question is do you want LeBron as a way for you to clear your books for the CBA that’s the question here now there’s a danger here okay where if they do this deal and LeBron walks after this season or retires let’s say it’s his last okay that money comes off if you do it in the MPJ structure that means that you’re still 30 million above the cap now you’ve just gone from being a 10 million under the second apron to 30 million above the cap and that difference is massive which means that if you were able to convert either Jamal Murray or Aaron Gordon both respected Nuggets legends who will someday have their jerseys retired regardless like if you were to turn those into expiring money at some point you would enter yourself into the option to be able to get involved in the 2026 free agency you regardless would be able to dramatically reshape the team in a much more flexible position over the next two years that is the only reason why this idea sparked my interest if LeBron were on a three-year deal this is not interesting to me if LeBron wanted to sign an extension I don’t even think it’d be that interesting to me but one year LeBron and Joker and then the money comes off that’s interesting to me ryan interesting yeah i mean it’s it’s to me I understand why especially in the modern era where Second Apron is a big deal and Denver would be bumping up against it do you think that they would go into the Second Apron if they had LeBron James this season
yeah actually they couldn’t if they traded for him that’s a that’s a requirement but going forward like hypothetically they do give him an extension like I think there’s at least a a world where they would go into it in in his favor u but like I I also to me like LeBron is just he unlocks so many different things on the court that I’m I would be very excited to be able to think about but obviously there’s so many different things and we probably shouldn’t even go down this path
there there’s so many comments they’re like talking about how LeBron sucks i’m just like guys he was really awesome last year like he was the top 10 player in the league last year
really good not be worried about it
he’s still really good i’m sorry he just is
should we pivot to actual free agents
do what
should we pivot to actual free agents
you want to be done talking about this you’d rather talk okay all right
no okay well we
No you’re No you’re we’ve talked about it we’ve talked about You want to go read the
um
Oh let’s pivot though to to Let’s do Dudley and then we’ll talk for Aiden last
okay
so Jared Dudley is reportedly going to be interviewed uh by the Nuggets sometime this week um Dallas assistant coach jared was extremely well respected as a player he’s well respected as an assistant coach uh Dudley has an open mind he connects with players he’s great for handling locker room stuff uh he’d be a great I think addition to the staff he’s going to be in high competition i don’t expect Denver to get him because I think he’s going to get more competitive offers from other teams but I think it’s great that Denver’s at least interviewing him because I think it’d be a real addition to David Allen’s staff
it would be amazing and like that’s just one of those that’s one of those people with experience around the league that you just would like to have around and Jared Dudley’s always been very respected as a smart veteran somebody who like is is in your corner knows exactly how the game is going to play how it’s going to evolve and has been a tremendous veteran and is somebody that I think the the coaching staff could use to connect with the players in in just a way that they probably haven’t really before why like various times Denver’s not necessarily been good on that front uh but I do think that Jared Dudley and obviously one of the reasons why he stands out is he has connections with LeBron James lebron James was very upset that he went to the Mavericks in the first place and the the conspiracy theorists and all of us would like to connect those dots saying that if Denver’s recruiting his good friend Jared Dudley back to the staff then maybe LeBron James also comes his way i just think Dudley independently is a good call i just think Jared Dudley like I just think adding Jared Dudley would be a really good call um again I don’t expect it because I think it’d be too much i think he’s just going to get better offers for influence and just pay i just think he’s going to get better options um for that what about Berea
um I don’t have many thoughts on Berea other than the fact that he’s drawn pretty good reviews from the Dallas Mavericks coaching staff obviously it was doable enough for Mark Stein to write about a report about it i I do think that both of those guys like kind of in a lot of the same way ways would be helpful for Denver i think obviously Dudley’s got a little bit more experience on that front but Beret would be interesting and just having somebody that players coaches fans can all connect to a little bit would be helpful coming up somebody asked “Do I think Zyra Williams is better or worse than Payton Watson?” And oh we will talk about it as well as other free agents that Ryan will pine for not expect and then still be disappointed when the Nuggets don’t get coming up no jinx on Locked on Nuggets welcome back to Locked on Nuggets thanks for being with us today hope you guys are having a great week free agency starts at 6 PM Eastern if the Nuggets do anything of significant note uh we will have a post free agency show on Monday night at some point so be on the lookout for that
they won’t though and that’s the thing it’s it’s
they won’t so no that’s not this is not just a pessimistic thing the Nuggets are lower on the totem pole because they like are offering lower contracts to a lot of these these guys the TPMLE is kind of a last resort the minimums are on honestly a last resort for a lot of these agents so don’t expect major Nuggets news initially uh Bruce Brown was signed on day two of free agency last time so like it’s not necessarily a guarantee that Denver’s going to have something lined up immediately but those conversations do evolve look at me being positive
let’s go through some some of the comments here okay
uh Tony B says “What about Dorian Finny Smith there’s no way on earth you are going to be able to generate enough money for to Dorian Finny Smith
non- taxpayer mid-level candidate for everybody in the NBA uh he’s going to make at least 14 million per year denver has 5.7 andrew Coker says “I’m going to throw some names at y’all luke Canard Larry Nance Chris Buchet and Gary Trent you’re talking to captain of the Larry Nance Jr parade.” It does sound a lot like Nance is going back to Atlanta ryan I’m sorry well that’s good because I’ve pivoted to the Sandro Mamu Kellish Vely fan club uh that is a the perfect perfect minimum contract for Denver to add to their front court rotation as an offensive center who can space the floor okay um hey look at me be come on and be positive come on
we’re having a good time
yeah mamu let’s go um Bruce Brown coffee Andrew says we’ve already talked about Bruce a lot here um I coffee I think can play i’ve always liked air coffee and if he’s if he’s available for the minimum I think that it’s absolutely an option i just think that that’s um I think coffee is a you need those types of wings you just do you just need guys of that type and I think that’s pretty good
something by the way something I have heard about Bruce Brown he is maybe not the top priority for the Nuggets
uh that that is something that I have heard i’ve heard that they are more prioritizing shooting in free agency market and Bruce Brown doesn’t necessarily qualify on that front so what do you think about Canard i think he’s going to be too expensive personally but uh so Sam Merrill got about 9.5 million per year AAV uh I would say that Canard is a worse player than Sam Merrill at least and has has been around for a little bit longer and not necessarily like he’s he’s reached higher highs but also lower lows i’d probably value him higher than taxpayer mid level but you just never know these guys might get squeezed if the Nuggets resigned DeAndre Jordan at at the at the free Open as their first move will you be I’m not Will you be more or less angry than the first time they did it
oh okay
that’s a good question here
that’s a good question uh less angry because of Already Dead Inside um but like just kidding uh no i I think that look it’s it’s understandable and you look at the the free agency list for centers there are a bunch of names that I just wish they would be patient for but I don’t know if they’re willing to be patient when they have a good veteran that they’d like to have around
uh Andrew also wants to know if there’s any black coat insight i would just tell you um without having the hard intel on it reading tea leaves I don’t think he returns i just think that they’re ready to move on and I think that they’re at a point where they re I think one of the things that I would kind of interpret Joic’s postgame comments after postseason comments after the loss is there has to come with that an understanding of okay if we got to have more guys then the guys that are around because I like them probably can’t be we just got to have playable bodies
um
they had too few last year and they cannot have that this time around it’s just a requirement that everybody is in a better place when April comes back around and Blackco just may not have it it’s too bad because he did have some high highs in Denver and that I did really enjoy but I I think that it’s done i think that locker room guys are really important and I think DeAndre has played a really important role in the Nuggets the last two seasons he actually gave them a lot on the court last year um like playoffs are a different beast but that’s going to be the true for anybody you’re going to get like that’s one of the things I think to keep in mind Ryan is like e even names as great as Mamu probably aren’t playoff viable like this is an important thing is like they’ll be very lucky if they sign anybody who’s playoff viable in the next two weeks
i I don’t expect them to on certainly the free agent center market even like Luke Cornett probably not super playoff viable but at least a a possible option there uh but what I do think is important for Denver it’s just getting through the regular season better and while DeAndre did a reasonable job of that this year that’s one out of three years that he was able to kind of do that for Denver so I do think that it’s probably time to at least get somebody that can add to their regular season success more consistently down the road um where am I at says “Hire DJ is the guy that sells hot dogs in the stands get him off the salary books.” Just so we’re clear the salary books don’t even really matter here because you’re talking about minimum veteran minimums on the veteran exception that’s the only way that Denver gets to to sign these guys they can’t offer more because they’re so far over the cap so they’ve got the taxpayer MLE and minimums which don’t matter so it’s like you could say we need the roster spot and that’s fine i’m fine with that like I’m also at the point of just kind of being are you with me i think you may have just said this but like are you with me that I’m of the opinion where I’m like there comes a point where we can worry about the locker room chemistry later like I would rather reinforce the locker room and then build a roster the problem is is that they did that and since they’ve gotten torn down by attrition now they’re at a point where it’s like we just got to stop the holes in the we got to plug the holes in the ship and then we got to worry about chemistry later
i I also think that the chemistry was a bit overrated and that there were there were various reasons why I I’m not as worried about the chemistry for this team i think that they are
they would have splintered off like off of the coil last year if they didn’t have as good a chemistry as they did it would have been so much worse and I know you think it couldn’t have been worse they won 50 games i will continue to try and remind you
oh yeah they they kept it together overall i do also think that like and and there there are a variety of reasons for that so I don’t want to go too like off the rails here but like I it’s important for them to add talent and get good people and if they can do both of those things at the same time things should be able to work out
let’s do this one we’re in VA says Josh Minot is better than anyone on our bench um I hate people say this because like it’s just f first of all it’s not true like it’s just flatout not true uh do you think that Josh Minot’s a better player than anybody on the Nuggets bench
i think he’s equal man people are really down on the Nuggets bench really down
peyton hasn’t had Peyton hasn’t Well Peyton either has not had an opportunity to show it or hasn’t earned an opportunity to show it julian’s been too hurt but I love every single play I’ve seen Josh May not play i am a May not believer you go from why not with Russ to not would you rather have Zyier Williams or why not uh I could justify either of those guys zyra Williams is going to space the floor a little bit more uh but Minot is one of those guys he’s going to run in transition he’s going to be doing a lot of good things and he’s also just more efficient around the rim than somebody like Payton if there is one major concern for Payton it’s just that he’s never been able to finish at the rim competitively for somebody that should be way better at it uh but like I I don’t think you can play both of those guys at the same time my not in Peyton Watson is what I mean okay because of the spacing
yeah it’s it it would be bad
yeah they won’t be able to take the threes that they don’t take anyway i would like them to take more just like let’s uh let’s let’s uh remake this image of Denver sucking a threes because they they have to let’s let’s let’s try to make it better because they want to be better
yeah um Andrew who apparently is just swipe a Ty Jerome and NAW likely out of our price range y’all go and get ahead of this one nw is not H swipe has just been like if they don’t get Io Dumnu or Nil Alexander Walker I don’t know what we’re going to have to do with a guy
yeah it’s it’s I mean well let me let me let me just spoil that crap for him right now it’s not happening and anybody that thinks that it’s happening I uh I just don’t think that Oh gosh it’s just brutal like the guys that they should be considering are like Torian Prince Jake Loravia Trey Jones Trey Man kind of in that range i would love if they got Malcolm Brogden here um there there’s there’s a variety of names that they could do um like Justin Champany would be awesome but like I don’t think that he’s a free agent is he like he’s a he’s on the Wizards i should know this as a Wizards guy
yeah you should yeah he signed a a multi-year deal on on March 3rd
so that’s the reason that he’s he’s popping up on that is because he was going to be an an expiring but they signed him into a multi-year deal
gosh the the misinformation in the comments just got me about that Shams thing
yep i I checked it too
i was like what in the world
that’s not nice that doesn’t seem I think you’re gonna tell us Luka Dodgers got traded um to the Lakers um yeah look if they can if I don’t want to rule out an IO trade cuz our tourist just is he’s bad at his job man but
he’s so weird though cuz like he was a really sharp guy when he was here
i know he’s also very nice he looks like he would be extremely like mean but he is very very nice person but yeah you can’t you can’t trade Isaac Goro
go trade with the New Orleans Pelicans right now go trade with the Utah Jazz right now apparently and go trade with the Chicago Bulls go take advantage of those front offices
yeah yeah i mean if if if and look there just may not be a market for IO i don’t know how many teams are like in on him how many teams need That’s insane that’s just flatout insane by the way
i don’t know i love I really like him but the way that that we’ve kind of started to talk about him is like just wait just wait if if he if he got onto this team they would be talking about him as like the hero the prince that was promised like that would be
I think he’d be great i think he’d be great on this team he’s a great fit for sure
but also just like it’s on this team though right
like I mean I’d rather have I like I’d rather have I if I’m Dallas than D’Angelo Russell
here here here’s that’s actually a very because you said on this team and I assume that a lot of that has to do with Nicole Joic very good pivot to Christian Brown and Pton Watson and the rookie extension market which I want to talk about before we go jabari Smith signs his contract 5 years 122 million it’s just under 25 mil per year first of all what did you think of that contract second of all how do you think that affects the rookie extension market
um I loved it because I I believed in Jabari as a prospect i believed him as a college player i believed him as a prospect for the draft i believed him when he got traded for the rock to the Rock or when he got drafted by the Rockets i thought he was put in the wrong position he needed a point guard with him he needed a point like he needs a floor setting point guard a professional guard who’s not a chucker that’s going to wind up a six-man and instead he got Jaylen Green and KPJ
and it’s set him behind and he’s been good like he’s impactful he’s got range he’s got versatility he’s a guy I think that’s going to make big leaps over the next five years he is not going to be Patrick Williams he’s going to be a guy I think that makes a leap he there’s so much about him I like he’s a locker room leader already at that age which is really promising it’s terrific pick i think that money is absolutely worth it that’s the money that you pay for the number three pick in the draft and not the pick that was selected in the back 10 okay um so you would say if if if we’re going average annual value that was about $24.4 million what would you give to Christian if that was the case
i don’t want to I don’t want to do that i don’t want to say a guy’s not worth his money
um
I think that people are underrating Christian especially in Denver i think that they’re underrating Payton i think that they’re underrating both of those guys and it’s a lot of it is to prop Joic i understand why but like if if Christian got 23 million that’s not bad that’s a pretty good deal
yeah that’s fine yeah that’s fine i don’t think it’ll be that i think it’ll be much higher
it probably will and maybe Denver should be fighting for it to be lower at least if they’re trying to actually not negotiate against themselves just give CB whatever he wants he deserves it says Abdo Ando you know what that winds up you know what that winds up with people in the comments asking us on this show why a guy is paid that much for X production
that’s how that ends and that’s how this one’s gonna end
yeah so like my prediction is that they give Christian Brown a deal it’s gonna make people mad they do not give Payton Watson a deal because they don’t feel like they can give both of those guys a deal and then you’re gonna run into this massive problem next year where hey shocker you’re pencled in for the second apron because Christian Brown contract is has kicked in we weird how that happens and the they could run Well this is one of the things I think that actually I will say this in their defense Ryan i know that that you won’t agree but
I’m not as this is everything with them this isn’t we’re keeping the core for forever it’s we’re keeping the core for right now because we’re gonna have to change eventually and you can say you should be proactive and I get that but this is probably not the time to be proactive considering where the market is for the guys that they’re trying going to have to move
so that might actually be a reason to run it back
just know that next year when they do decide hey we have to address this they’re going to make a bad deal because of it it’s going to be a really bad deal
i’ll take you I’ll bet you on that one i’ll take you up on that bet okay i I think it’ll be shockingly bad okay i think it’s going to work out okay because I don’t think everything sucks all the time you can catch Ryan over at Mile High Sports we’ll be back tomorrow to recap whatever happens in free agency if anything significant happens if it doesn’t then you won’t hear from us then you’ll catch Swipa on Tuesday we’ll be back on Wednesday with me and Swipa then Wednesday night no Jinx is moving from Tuesday nights to Wednesday nights for the offseason we’ll see what we do when we get back into the season catch Ryan over Mile High Sports you can go catch me at the Denver Dig appreciate you guys being with us we’ll see you guys again next time on Lockdown Nuggets lebron James lebron James lebron James
Matt Moore and Ryan Blackburn react to a cryptic message from LeBron James and Klutch Sports about his future with the Los Angeles Lakers, discuss a possible trade to the Denver Nuggets, and preview Free Agency before things get crazy on Monday.

We Dont Want LeBron Sorry Ass 😂
Hell noooo 😂
Lebron if he leaves will go home, Cleveland.
Holy clickbait
🤡🤡🤡
Lebron does not defend and is not a good shooter. He does not cut well or set screens well. He could lead second unit but that is it. What need does he solve?
Hell no, we won't go! Hell no, we won't go!
I'm a Lakers fan and I'm glad you were upfront that your trade proposal is one-sided and unrealistic. Unless you attach 2 unprotected firsts and two first round swaps, you can't even begin a trade negotiation. Because the Lakers certainly don't want Porter and that ugly contract. It would have to be a three team deal because Denver doesn't have any attractive trade assets besides Jokic.
Of all the teams, I can see Lakers being the only one stupid enough to value Murray at his current contract, since they probably still have PTSD from some of those playoff games. Although, James, Reeves, Knecht and Hachimura for Jokic could work lol.
I think we can conclude that Lebron doesn't want to come here. If he did want to come to Denver it would happen no matter how much Lakers fans complained. The Lakers can always rebuild themselves through FA every year because top players WILL want to go to LA. And Lakers aren't going to get top talent back for Lebron either any more than the Suns did for Kevin Durant. But, the Lakers can get better players back than MPJ + Zeke Naji + whatever.
Trade MPJ, Nnaji, Saric, add 2031 first round draft pick, 2030 1st round draft swap, 2032 first round draft swap OR 2032 second round draft pick, get John Collins, Sexton OR Clarkson, Filipovski, and Svi Mihailiuk from Utah. Works on Fanspo, the Jazz fans are up for it gladly, so it seems it's realistic trade. After that we will be under the first apron and able to get someone like Brogdon on an FA.
OMG NOO way! absolutely not i will boycott nooooo please god no!
Threeway trade that Lakers might go for- Markkanen and Watson to LA, Lbj, Svi Mykhailiuk, and Kyle Filipowski to Denver, Dario Saric, Nnaji, MPJ, and basically all of our available draft picks and draft swaps in 2030 and 2032 to Utah. Although it would make more sense just to get a trade for Nnaji, Saric and MPJ to Utah, wich Utah will accept.
Piss poor click bait
Hmmm I'm open to this
LeBron and Luka for Jokic trade
Man we don't want his drama
If you can get him, do it.
After hearing about the Naz Reid and Jabari Smith extension, I feel like even $23-25 mill is still too much for CB imo. I like CB as a player, but there are just certain limitations offensively that I believe really hinders him. He can't create his own shots, shoot off the dribble, and he's not a great ball handler. I certainly would like to be proven wrong, but I don't think CB can become that much better offensively over the course of 1 or 2 summer. And does Nuggets even have the time for him to develop into that guy on offense while taking over the starting SG spot? As a shooting guard, these skill sets are crucial and prerequisites for a starting level SG on a contending team like the Nuggets. Even defensively, CB is not like a lock down defender or a factor that really alters how the opponent play offensively like a Lu Dort, Alex Caruso, Dyson Daniels, Herb Jones, etc. Both Naz Reid and Jabari Smith are better players than CB. If Naz Reid and Jabari Smith both got an extentsion worth $25M/yr, then CB should be worth closer to $20M/year. I'm so sick of the word "potential". Nuggets shouldn't be paying players due to their "potential" anymore. That's how MPJ got the 5 yr/$180M contract in the first place back in 2021. Personally, I still have doubt about can CB become the long term solution at the starting SG spot. And if I'm not convinced right now with CB heading into his 4th season in the NBA, Nuggets should not overpay for players to keep them especially the ones they drafted.
Hahahhaahha what a joke
