so we had Jeremiah up on the podium when the news broke about this trade he was psyched to be playing with you could you talk about um when did you learn that this trade was going to happen did you initially think you were going to one team or did you know the whole way through and also part two of the question are you excited do you share the sentiment are you excited to play with Jeremiah as well
uh yes I’m definitely excited to play with Jeremiah uh we’ve been chopping it up ever since and just growing our relationship through this basketball uh thing and then um I learned about this like the right before the 11th you know yeah right before the 11th pick was called uh Bill Duffy had came over and set and said it and then my mom everybody started clapping i was just like keep cool don’t make it too hot and then um and then it was just like an excitement for me to uh be a Pelican third row on the right
hey Ben Couchmbba.com what does it uh mean to you now that you know you’ve gotten selected here in the draft made the lottery and your four your Montg teammates have all been in the first round this year
yeah I mean that’s great cuz you never really get this get this experience uh it’s it’s really unlikely that basically a super team go to the same school all of us going to be in the first round but uh I feel like Liam and Asa definitely should have went higher but it I think it all worked out for us um God have a plan for us and stuff so I think it’s amazing all four of us is is is going to not share the same court at the same time but all of all four of us going to have a chance to play against each other

derek Schmidt do it here from in the No just um when a team just aggressively pursues uh someone so that’s what they did with the Pelicans they moved up to get you um how does that make you feel that they want you like that bad to just come jump from 23 all the way to where you were selected uh it shows how how much faith they have in me uh how they believe in me how how well I can fit with with their program uh the system like they just um like I’m not going to prove them wrong so I’m just glad they had a lot of faith in me and um and trusting me

yeah I mean it’s a lot of creative people out here so I don’t know what they what they going to do they might call queens or kings or something like that being being creative but uh but when whenever whenever part of the season start everything going it’s probably gonna fill out work

last question here in the middle a a guy like Zion just um what do you know about his game and how do you see yourself fitting with a a dynamic player like that
uh when Zion is playing he’s very dominant he a he a killer and and uh I can’t wait to talk to him and um excited to be his teammate can’t wait to talk to him pick his brain um see asking questions about the game and just um he probably going to have me doing rookie duties but uh just excited to have him as a teammate and been an all-star so he’ve done it and and and we got the same agent so it’s all gonna work out all right thank you Derek
