so could the Portland Trailblazers be trading away Drew Holiday to the Dallas Mavericks this 2025 NBA offseason well here on the screen is a trade proposal or a trade idea from Fadeawayworld.net the link to this article is down below in case you want to go ahead and check it out for yourself but this trade would see the Dallas Mavericks receiving Drew Holiday and the Portland Trailblazers receiving Klay Thompson PJ Washington Brandon Williams and a 2030 second round draft pick so my immediate thoughts are is that if Portland decides to go down the route of flipping Drew Holiday after acquiring him the Dallas Mavericks could be a pretty cool landing spot for him because the Mavericks want to get a point guard this off seasonason so with Kyrie Irving missing likely uh the majority if not the entirety of the 2025 26 campaign finding a point guard for the interimm and a point guard that when he comes back can be a nice piece defensively speaking and maybe a player that demands the ball a little bit less when Kyrie Irving’s back into the fold this from a basketball perspective would actually be a pretty good fit uh with the Mavericks of course drafting Cooper Flag and with them in this scenario retaining players like Daniel Gaffford Dererick Lively etc adding a veteran player a champion and Drew Holiday who’s a defensively you know good presence there a good perimeter defender he makes a lot of sense now the only question mark is making the money work now in this scenario uh they’re moving on from Klay Thompson in his contract as well as Washington and Brandon Williams plus a second round draft pick so all things considered the asking price for him isn’t super crazy uh with uh you know Cooper Flag on that rookie deal Anthony Davis and Kyrie Irving you add some like Drew Holidayiday to the mix and you still have good young talent like Derrick Lively this is a pretty awesome move for the Mavericks to make now from the Blazers perspective I just really don’t think Klay Thompson makes a lot of sense so perhaps if he were to go there he could potentially be a trade candidate uh candidate as well maybe it’s you know this offseason maybe it’s during the season whatever the case may be i don’t see Portland being a long-term home for him but I do believe that he went to university uh in Washington if I’m not mistaken uh so this could be a nice little um you know spot for him to go back to they get some good depth and at the end of the day they move on from an older player an aging player Andrew Holiday and they get back some good assets for him so I think that if Dallas wants to go maybe down a more cost-effective route there are going to be some free agents available uh some names that come to mind perhaps could be like a Chris Paul or maybe even a D’Angelo Russell on that mid-level exception so that’s probably a more costefficient way but if those aren’t options for them I think a Drew Holiday trade makes some sense in my opinion so ain’t the winner of the steals the Dallas Mavericks leave your thoughts
