The Lakers and LBJ have NOT BEEN ALIGNED THE PAST 3 seasons, they haven’t made a offseason trade since Aug of 2022. That’s not a Dr.Buss + Jerry West mindset, which meant that they stopped competing and investing in the championship brand since then.

Pleasing LeBron has gotten the Lakers no where except when they had 4 months off before winning the pandemic bubble ring. They have destroyed their draft picks while bending over left and right for Clutch Sports. To top it off, they drafted his son who does not belong in the NBA and is taking up a roster spot we desperately need. After all of that, Rich is talking about wanting to win now knowing the Lakers have little to work with. If he really wanted to win in LA, then Bron would have taken a huge pay cut to give the team flexibility and get some win now players.
I said years ago the Bron AD was over and they needed to move on from both of them. Well AD is gone and I hope they trade Bron during the season. Other teams have quickly passed the Lakers on roster building and Lebron is a heavy anchor of the past. I want the team to rebuild around Luka and for Mark to hire a new GM and president of basketball ops. Jeanie needs to go as well, stop hanging on…..your family's time is over.

Opting in can't help LeBron dictate what moves this front office could do right now. The Lakers can just eat a bullet and let him walk after the season. Lakers should do what's best for the team even if an old man is taking up a space on the roster for the year if they are rebuilding. This wouldn't look good for now, but an image where one person holding a team hostage while also demanding his terms be met and simultaneously obstructing a team's progression looks so much worse.
