WHAT Other BIGS Could the Spurs Sign!?
free agency starts tonight’s first fans will we sign should we sign could we sign a big What is up San Antonio sports fans welcome to TSR Sports caught an article from Pounding the Rock this morning talking about free agent big men that are available if we’re not able to get Gershan Yabaselli or Luke Cornet i’m going to go over the players in the article but while I’m doing so I’m going to drop my drop my thoughts give my thoughts on whether I think we should pursue the player or not of course if you’d like to follow along and give your comments and drop them down below do so as well i’m just messing this all sentence up let’s get into the article from Pounding the Rock if San Antonio strikes out on Cornet or Yabaselli they should kick the tires word that a little better on this group of players other backup options Dron Sharp Chris Buchet Larry Nance Jr and Kevon Looney starting off with Sharp sharp is not a floor spacer but he’s one of the league’s best backup bigs he’s an awesome offensive rebounder grabbing three a game he defends the paint at a high level he’s only 24 years old however the catch is that Sharp is a restricted free agent which means the Brooklyn Nets could potentially match any offer the Spurs could make so with Sharp I have some injury concerns with him he’s missed a lot of time the last few years but he is only 24 and he is girthy he’s 6’9 which is not the ideal height for a backup big a lot of these guys on this are under 7 foot but he is 265 pounds and does have a 7 foot wingspan he kind of falls under my worst case scenario if the Nets don’t try to sign a matchm if we can get him on the cheap maybe there’s some potential there at only 24 but the injury the lengthy injury history is a concern sometimes the best ability is availability moving down the list we have Larry Nance Jr who I didn’t know at one time had like a 44 or 45 inch vertical jump out of his jump out of the gym if you will nance Jr is one of the most underrated bench bigs in the NBA when healthy oh is that what you like to see about a player evaluation he’s a plus defender who can knock down 40% of his threes he’s a steady hand you can plug in for 18 to 20 minutes a night nance Jr I would label him injuryprone 33 next season i’m kind of unknown on this guys maybe you disagree would certainly like to see your thoughts on him but an older player that’s got a lengthy injury history i don’t think the juice is worth the squeeze there bush experienced a return to form last season averaging 10 points and four and a half rebounds while shooting 36% from deep he’s also a decent rim protector at 6’9 yes another 6’9 guy he’s also two-time NBA champion i just I’m not feeling Chris Buché though i went with the no up next Kavon Looney he’s a well-known commodity thanks to his role as a bruiser on the Golden State Warriors over the years somehow he’s still only 29 he’s been around a while meaning he fits for his timeline he’d given a big strong interior defender who can do damage offensively as a screener and finisher at the rim gavon Looney was better than a two-time champion a three-time champion my man Looney Tunes is 6’9 so another 69 guy 220 lbs he does have a 7 foot4 wingspan and he is a small ball center no surprise playing with the Golden State Warriors that being said I would prefer him as backup center than center Sohan center Barnes and oh my center Kelvin no no no i do not want to see any of those three playing center next year if possible it’s out of position we’re not playing putting those players in the best position succeed and the opposing team probably going to be taking advantage of those smaller guys looney is a very good rebounder and I thought he was injuryprone but he’s actually been fairly healthy the last four seasons he only missed 14 games total including two out of the last four he played all 82 games they mentioned it’ll be 29 next season looks like his contract would probably be what somewhere between 8 to 10 million a year yeah I’d say get him if we can’t get Yabaselli or cornet sure thing is guys I don’t know if he’d want to leave Golden State 10 years there three titles the team that drafted him is Golden State going to want move away from him he’s been he’s been a pretty rock solid for them we’ll see what happens but for me this is this is a yes this is an absolute yes if we can take Looney Tunes from the Warriors and I don’t mean that as an insult just you know Looney Tunes a cartoon okay you get it all right death pieces for the by angle exception or vet minimum we’ve got Mason Plumbley Isaiah Jackson Thomas Bryant Tony Bradley and Paul Reed first one up Mason Plumbley plumbley played in 74 games for the Phoenix Suns last season i forgot he was with the Suns he’s moved around a lot but he wasn’t incredibly productive he’s still a dece decent defender going into his age 35 season but his days of being an impact player are likely over no not for me next jackson Bryant and Bradley all spent time as a Pacers backup center this season i was kind of shock i didn’t realize when I was reading this article initially I’m like we took three players from the Pacers okay with Jackson providing the most potential however after a torn Achilles torn or ruptured do they tear or they rupture whatever team signs him will be taking on injury risk bryant and Bradley are big bodies going to be death pieces but we’re clearly outmatched by the Oklahoma City Thunder bigs in the NBA finals so right there that’s a massive red flag for me the team that could be our future rival for the next decade these backup guys got outmatched the injury with Jackson the torn halist if you get it you get it no the the Pacers guys in for all three I’m just going to say no I not not feeling it Paul Reed could be a cheaper interesting swing if the Spurs are looking for depth he’s an impact defender who hasn’t found a consistent role in the NBA there’s a lot of talent to be tapped here San Antonio could be that spot I’m kind of a no on this one although his nickname Bball Paul let’s let’s come on let’s be honest That would be a lot of fun to say during game so that that intrigues me right there this would be a worst worstc case scenario i would have had the players mention Looney first Sharp second and then Reed a distant third i Yeah why are there San Antonio Spurs guys on the thumbnail well they are free agents so we have to take into consideration the fact the Spurs may or may not resign our own guys and those three guys are Charles Bassie Bismac Biombo and Sandro Mama Kelly byambo was a was solid for San Antonio in a time of desperation he was effectively the only center on the roster it was in the last quarter of the season bassie has talent but he’s inconsistent and unfortunately injury-prone mamu is a fun offensive player and locker room staple but his defense limits his ability to stay on the court all right first up Charles Bassie i don’t say this to be rude but he I’ve called his knee a noodle knee essentially it’s fragility i can’t remember if it’s his left one or right one but he’s had two fractured patellas a torn ACL two season ending injuries with the Spurs last year he barely played at the end of the season due to left knee issues or right knee and he’s never played more than a half a season he’s never made it to 41 games at some point you have to move on and Charles is a probably one of the funnest shot blockers in the league that I’ve watched because when he blocks a shot if he didn’t just block the shot he sends it into the stands it’s it’s it’s gone but he can’t stay healthy and if you can’t be on the court you’re not helping the team and having take up a roster spot and salary cap and constantly not being able to play we have to move on will he get a chance somewhere else i don’t know i think right now he’s he’s got a he’s in proven mode if the Spurs bring him back or to any team that he can make it to at least at least 65 games at this point up next Biombo you know what if we have an open roster spot sure a professional came off the he wasn’t even in playing basketball wasn’t any type of basketball came in and did an aal job as a backup and starter seemed to have a good attitude yeah we have an open roster spot and need again another guy that’s what 68 69 with a huge Wings fan prefer to get an actual sevenfooter but if we’re in a in a pinch sure and last but not least Mamu I think he’s leaving i think he’s going to go overseas uh yeah from what you guys are saying it sounds like with the opport I forgot what the the name of the team is overseas but if he gets the chance yeah I think he’s gone all right Spurs fans that’s the roundup free HD starts tonight at 600 p.m eastern i will be live for it i can’t wait to see what happens i’m not sure how I’m going to follow it there’s live trackers i’m thinking it might be best to kind of have a situation where I’m right here where I I’m The San Antonio Spurs need to sign or trade for a big. Here are some less talked about NBA free agents.

Since some are asking, no. I do not want Ayton. No problem childs around our young core!
I am so excited for this off-season Spurs fans! Anyone from today's video you'd like the Spurs to sign? Thanks for watching and GO SPURS GO!

FYI Looney is 6'8" not 6'9" (7'3.5" wingspan)
Larry Nance Jr. is 6'7.5" (7'1.5" wingspan)
Chris Boucher is 6'8" (7'4" wingspan)
Day'Ron Sharpe is 6'9" (7' wingspan)
Paul Reed is 6'9" (7'1.5" wingspan)
All those guys are clearly undersized.
But Looney is the one doing the best job on D.
Paul Reed is the 2nd best defender on your list… but he play PF, not C.
I wish Jakob was our backup big 😢
Better root for getting Kornet and/or Yabusele. Day'Ron Sharpe would be good, but RFA status is unnerving. You'd have to overpay for him.
I'm all in on Kornet, and if possible keep both Biyombo and Mamu.
Mamu is not a center, your article again confuse rim defense (where Mamu is not good) with Defense.
On defense (named team defense) Mamu is fine.
But if you want him to protect the rim it'll not work.
Portland working on buyout of Ayton. Aynton's camp is the one pushing it. He has remaining single year of 35ml
Looks like he wants to work for another contract. No way he is a Spurs guy, BUT if they can get him cheap he could build his value playing with Wemby.
He would likely work his ass off to get a new contract Good if on the cheap one yet contact
I’m a bit jealous of Dallas. Gafford and Lively are both very good centers. They don’t need both of them! One of them needs to come to the Spurs.
Due to his lack of defense, Mamu is not a backup 5 but a backup 4. Associated to Wemby, he had very good games.
In the rotation (10 to 12th man), it would be great to keep this offensive weapon in the roster. He can stretch by sinking several 3s in a row.
But he won't resolve our starting 4 and backup 5 problem !!
However I want Mamu to stay in SA because he is my "chouchou" !!
And what a game against the Knicks this season ! Mamu MVP forever 😍🥰🥰🤩🤩😍
Should the Spurs consider Ayton?
Capela
Spurs still needs size and muscle inside. Can’t play a 6’8 Sochan at center then have your PF or wings all be 6’6 or smaller. That part of the roster should be filled out with complimentary additions via free agency or minor trades with late 1st, second rounders. Your stars are Wemby and the 4 guard rotation players.
I wouldn’t mind signing Santi Aldama
Its a far fetch but DeAndre ayton
Ayton is a absolute diva. I'll take Kornet/Capela or maybe Yabusele instead.
Shams will definitely know first! LoL
They need the best young rebounder
I rather have Ayton over these guys. Spurs should pass on them. Go for Giannis in call it a day
2:42 but would you be feeling Bobby Boucher?
Thanks for your service Rich.
If BBall Paul’s best trait is his nick name o say we wait it out till the right player/deal come around. Good things come to those who wait. It’s been 7 years, we can wait till 2026 for the right center.
We actually need 2 so maybe get a spot filler till that happens? Is Biz still a SPURS? That guy is great at what we need him for.
For what i see all the people that were claimiing that we were going to get our bigs thru free Agency i don’t see anything worth getting out there we missed a good chance in the second round of the draft for a cheap center and young
Any word of us trading for Raynaud?
Cost to trade for walker kessler?
Kornet and Yabusele probably the best choices right now with Looney being another good choice. Day'Ron Sharpe is ok but injury is a concern with him and he can't shoot the three. The Spurs would have to pay more than he's worth, probably better to just keep Bassey for this season.
Nick claxton cunato sale?
2 picks 1° ronda
I like Looney. Paul Reed isn't bad either.
I would get Brook Lopez eaven if he is 37 years old on a two year deal could be solid back up center for Wemby and get another big on the next draft.
This is exactly why we should've taken a swing on Raynaud, would've loved a cheap 5 so we're not so desperate.
I think Nance Jr may be the only option here. Kornet's gonna be expensive, doesn't currently space the court, & hasn't been on this poor of a shooting squad in years, likely looking for a multi year deal tooz he's a gamble. Looney may also be seeking a multi-year deal & doesn't space the floor, doesn't defend the perimeter either so may not mesh with Wemby. Don't wanna get trapped with these guys if they don't fit well, but also you need a quality 5 to go against these loaded front courts out West. Bryant struggled against OKC, and they just upgraded even more with Sorber. Boucher is thin as a rail so thats a no from me. That leaves Nance Jr. undersized but probably meshes the best out of all these guys, could be cheap as well. These options are not looking good for us regardless.
Ayton
Looney looney looney… stand by me
Spurs should after these guys if they are available *
DeAndre Ayton
* Myles Turner
* Marvin Bagley
* Jaxson Hayes
* Ben Simmons
* Jalen Wilson
I know is Ben Simmons, hear me out. He’s a really good big & playmaker. I know what he in the past was stupid. I pretty sure the spurs could work things out with him.
Not mentioned but isnt Deandre Ayton and Jock Landale up for grabs?
I like Yabuslele and Dayton Sharpe
Nobody talking about Mo Wagner ? 🤔
