The Charlotte Hornets Trade For Collin Sexton!!
what is going on everyone trust the Buzz here i’m not even going to get into the intro because you know exactly what we’re talking about you see the screen you saw the thumbnail you clicked the title hornets were able to acquire Colin Ston where and a 2030 I believe it was originally reported as 2031 and then got changed to 2030 but a a Colin text and a 203 second round pick all for Yousef Nerkage who really didn’t play for us i mean I like kind of some of the things he was able to do um as far as like what I know his skill set is but at the end of the day he didn’t play that long for us but still Colin Saxon is a dog he has the mentality that we need he has he’s has the talent we need he’s just everything that the Charlotte Hornets need um he can put up buckets in a hurry i I think that I really really like Colin Texon he just brings that attitude he brings I think they always talk about uh like positional what I can’t remember the word that Jeff Peterson always uses but I think it’s like positional versatility where yes he can I think he’s more of a two but he can play point guard a little bit he has decent assist numbers i feel as though a lot of those come from just the high usage nothing wrong with that he’s just definitely a guard like he’s definitely a shooting guard you put contact in on the floor to hoop to score and that’s exactly what he’s going to do and you you know obviously the effort and whatnot he brings that night in and night out i think this is a fantastic pick i mean a fantastic trade um that I obviously I think for the Jazz a lot of people are questioning that for them but they got Walter Clayton they got Ace they got uh Keonte Jordan they have a lot of guards that they are trying to put time towards so it it was obviously at some point you had to get rid of somebody and you more than likely to get rid of the guy who just really isn’t part of that future i think you know you replace him with Nerkage i don’t think they’re really going to keep Nerkage or I don’t even know if they’re going to necessarily if they do keep them they may just hold on to him because they’re both expiring context and Nerkage are both expiring deals i could see the Utah Jazz you know keeping Nerk just because he doesn’t mess with that guard rotation that they now have so that that could just be part of it as well or it could be something like bigger for another trade but for us we’re definitely keeping Colin Ston um it gives us the opportunity to see him play for us and see how he how he produces and then we can obviously extend him after the season during the season doesn’t matter but yeah I think he’s everything we need he brings the energy night in and night out i mean look at the stats he averages 18 points three rebounds four assists shooting 48% from the field 41% from three and 87% from the free throw line um I I I I just love Conex man i think he just once again it’s all about energy with him it’s all about just how quick he is and how efficient he is and and he grew to that like at one point he wasn’t he wasn’t that efficient like you have a couple of seasons where he didn’t shoot well from three but then you know it just got better and better and better and I mean you you can you I can never complain about a player who just constantly gets better i don’t think Colin you know going from the Cavs to now to the Jazz to now the Hornets has any is any indicator of like he’s not a good basketball player he’s empty stats or anything like that it’s really just the fit like he was on the Cavs but then they had you know bigger moves trying to shoot you know obviously they got Donovan Mitchell out of it and then that team ended up being the number one team in the East and so it was just part of the vision utah I never felt like he was going to stay in Utah i’m surprised he stayed in Utah as long as he did or was he part of the Lowry marketing drain no he couldn’t be part of Lowry i don’t remember was it for Donovan Conventional i don’t remember i don’t remember either way the point is they the Cavs had bigger plans so they got rid of him and then the Utah Jazz had him and they really just were in limbo and didn’t know what to do for us we get a rid of a player who we’re not going to use in Nerkage to a guy who we definitely will use in hopefully we he will be I don’t you don’t make the draft choices we did and you don’t try you don’t trade for Colin Saxon on and expiring to not try to make something shake and I think we’re going to try to make something shake um he Brent like I said on defense it’s not like his selling point but the effort is there on offense and defense and that’s all you can really ask for really what you’re looking for is the three-point shooting his ability to get to the rim his ability to score his ability to facilitate he’s not a bad facilitator i know I said like I believe his assist numbers come from just really him just being used a lot but it’s not to say he can’t playmake it’s just more so he has the ball a lot and he’s making decisions based on that but he is there to score i truly believe like if you tone down his scoring a little bit he could probably average six seven assists like he he’s that talented as a playmaker it’s just he’s he’s a score first and there’s nothing wrong with that so having be able to have that your LaMelo less minutes and I’ve been talking about it all off seasonason have dramatically improved since last year where you had Damen Ball I believe and Isaiah Wong and KJ Simpson and guys like that um now you’re possibly going into Khan Canipple uh Brandon Miller uh obviously Colin Texton possibly Trey Man like that those minutes just look completely different kj wasn’t bad so like him being able to improve son James like James I there’s just a lot has changed uh even McNeely can put the ball on the floor and and playmaker a little bit he’s a he’s a underrated like connective passer so you just have a lot of passing on this team to win LaMelo and I think that a lot of people confuse like the La La Llos minutes with um him being injured but no I’m talking about him taking out the game him in foul trouble there’s a bunch of different things that have happened in the past with LaMelo where you could say where he’s not on the floor offense falls apart i don’t see that happening even if we don’t you know cuz some people are saying like how does this go with you know bringing uh possibly bringing back Trey Man i think they can fit i think that uh Trey man is he doesn’t bring like the the the dog mentality on defense the way Colin Ston does but I believe Trey man is a more cerebral defender where he’s he’s playing the pass lanes he’s making things happen uh Colin Saxon is just more like the doll he’s just going to he’s just a pest night in and night out i believe Trey man is just the one that he’s like more of an event creator and you know both have their roles in the league and they both definitely have their roles on our team so yeah you there’s not enough you can say about context he can play off the ball he can play on the ball he can LaMelo can now play you know play off the ball trey man can play off the ball khan can nip can play off like he just works with every potential lineup we could possibly have he fits with it and he doesn’t change anything yeah he may take more shots in a guy that typically is your backup point guard or backup shooting guard whatever the case may be but at the same time it’s okay like he’s he’s efficient he’s efficient man and I and look let’s be real new team things like that i don’t expect him to hit the ground running like I don’t believe you’re going and even throughout the season you’re not going to get 24 point a game context and you might not you’re not going to get 20 point you might not even get 18 but you might get like this context in here with better shooting you might get like these same shooting splits but now he’s averaging 16 points maybe a little more rebounds you know what I mean or a little more assist I’m sorry and then I honestly could see him averaging a steal a game potentially with this team so even though you know he’s not this defensive type of point guard or this extreme playmaker type of point guard he’s still a very good point guard and I felt like a contender should trade for him glad it’s us and maybe contending is contending for the six seed but I’m telling you I with the draft we had that that’s people were telling me like “Oh I don’t know you can still play Khan and and you know it doesn’t necessarily mean that we’re going to win but to for me personally I just don’t see the point of drafting Khan as as good as I I I’m telling you I believe Khan is good but I don’t see the point of drafting Khan if you’re going to be if you’re going to wait another year or two to try to do something and it’s not because Khan is Cooper it’s not because Khan is Dylan Harper it’s more so because Khan is one of the few rookies that can give you something year one there’s not too many rookies that can he’s one of them and McNeely I think if he finds his shot he can be another one you don’t do that i mean and we Ryan Cochr Brener Seion James both are rookies who can give you everybody we’ve got through the draft class are rookies that can give you something their rookie year and that just doesn’t happen often often times you’re trying to let rookies grow and then make mistakes and these guys are going to still make their rookie mistakes and they may not be as great as they were in college or show like the flashes day one or anything like that but at their worst they provide a skill that’s required in the NBA and it’s definitely more importantly a skill that we need for the Charlotte Hornets so you add Colin Saxon to that and just his attitude i’m telling you this is going to be a different team i been a fan Hornets fan long enough to know not to get too excited we will see when the season happens but on paper we’re looking really good i have to do more of a deep dive into Colin Sexton as far as like film and stats and so of course I’ll have a video coming for y’all for that uh hopefully tomorrow but as far as just like someone who watches the NBA and pays attention to all the teams and looks at all the players but obviously on a surface level because I I really focus on the Hornets more than anybody of course um I I like his game man i like his game he he’s very he can be used in so many different ways he can be your lead ball handler he can play off ball you can have him to shoot you can have him spot up you can have him create i think that’s another thing that I personally missed you know when talking about him he is an exceptional creator with the ball in his hand so just I expect a lot of good things to happen i’m super excited to have uh Colin Sexton this is the type of player I think we need this is the type of player that can really change where we’re going to go next year and I’m and I know I said that like we may be competing for the six seed but what I want and I’ve said this before we just need to get some talent get some guys who we just believe in not just oh we’re trying to get the right amount of roster spots or get some guys you truly believe in that you know you could see a way that how they fit into your future and put them out there if you win you win if you don’t you don’t but at least you’re trying and I think that’s like the stage we needed to be in we don’t need to be in this let’s keep tanking and tanking and tanking no East is going to be weak weaker next year there’s just no reason to not just try if and I I’ve said this cuz this is like my backup plan to that i would not be mad if we took the Spurs route like we saw what the Spurs did they they played hard they were kind of flirting with the playing spot on and off they got Dear Fox and kind of they were they fell they kind of went on like a bad stretch before they got the Fox then they got Darren Fox and kind of were clawing their way back then they realized you know what we’re at the end of the season we don’t want to waste you know Wimby Miles dear Fox has a slight injury and by the time he comes back it will be like uh playoffs like it’s just too much we’ll just we’ll just cut our losses it is what it is we tried boom they end up getting a second pick now I’m not saying that we should do that to expect to be rewarded with a top pick even though the 2026 class is insane i’m more so saying it that that’s the type of progression we need it’s hard to sell fans on you’re progressing and you’re building when you’re winning 20 games but if you take that route of we put all our eggs in this basket we’re focused on this team right here this year let’s let’s see what they can do we’ll make our moves off that and that’s what the Spurs did when they realized you know we’re going to be forcing guys like we’re limp we’re limping to the finish line we’re going to be forcing guys to kind of come back and just for what all right let’s just cut our losses we tried if we do that I will have no complaints but the whole you know we’re sitting out guys just because and this that and the other and we’re putting out Damen B we’re putting out uh Dcoin Jeff and like you that’s your roster because you don’t believe my and no disrespect for those guys but you don’t believe in them you believe in Kexton you believe in LaMelo of course you believe in Khan McNeely uh Conbriner Musa like and of course you know Brandon Miles you Melo all those guys you believe in all of them but I’m just talking about the like obviously not our stars you believe in those guys and you say like “Okay if this works I can see how they be can be a part of our future.” Those are the guys you put out there and see what you get not the Damen Balls not the Dcoin Jeff not the I’m trying to think of ish Smiths not the like there’s just a bunch of guys I could I could name off but you get the point so I’m glad we got context and I will have that deep dive for y’all soon because I want to get into nitty-gritty i want to get into the analytics i want to get into the film i want to get into all that stuff but just as someone who watches basketball and have seen some a good amount of context I just really like what he does man i I like that the create the shot creation i can’t believe I even said that last but that’s obviously his highest skill and that’s something we desperately desperately need because you know LaMelo is not always going to be on the floor to make a pass brandon Miller you know coming back from injury he’s always can’t set you up trey man we don’t know if he will be back but still like he can’t always set you up who can go out there and get us a bucket when we need a bucket colin Saxon is that man that that’s what he does there there are some ups and downs because like I said he’s putting them up you know what I mean and you know some games he is you see you see the splits like he shoots very well but some games he’s going to go one for 10 some games he’s going to go three for 11 but you know obviously by the end of the season you look back at it and say “No that was a very productive season.” So let me know what your thoughts are on the trade i know y’all probably love it obviously there’s going to be some people that may not see the vision um and if you feel that way please feel free to put your comments down uh in the comment section below because I want to hear all viewpoints but I know like as fans of the team we’re all just excited to see the team try this is a I if you’re not a Hornets fan you’re watching this this is a huge step in the right direction of just putting something actually useful out there and then that that’s how you can get a real analysis of your players you can’t do that when you’re putting out these guys who aren’t even going to be on the team next year and you know that what are you truly building you know what I mean so once again let me know what your thoughts are down in the comment section below and I’ll see you guys next time
Former Utah Jazz guard Collin Sexton is now on the Charlotte Hornets for Jusuf Nurkic. Sexton brings scoring and playmaking to this team as well as just overall attitude. He will bring the effort night in and night out and that’s something this team desperately needs. Collin Sexton can potentially be part of the change this team needs.

trade miles, green, okogie, and 2 first rd picks and 2 2nd rd picks for claxton and cam johnson and compete for a top 4-5 seed (melo, sexton, miller, johnson, clax) clax is from greenville sc too and cam is a heel
Mark Williams could be coming back again. Needed room for him. I dont think that trade has been approved yet.
Yeah. I think Utah tryna keep Ace B. Happy with this Trade also
I like Sexton as a backup. Would have been a better deal if they hadn't used a pick to draft James. That pick could have been used ro acquire more size. But it's good they received a future pick in the deal.
Great pickup. He fills the Tre Mann type role with scoring, effort, and facilitating which the Hornets needed a lot of. Now they just need to get another 7ft center to prevent having to play too much small ball without Ryan
Utah wants a Boozer. This was a trade favorable for the Hornets.
Really worried for that frontcourt, but a good pickup. Hopefully they are still resigning Mann, I like him a lot, but if they decide to use that money to grab at center instead that's ok too.
Look at this lineup bruh…
LaMelo – Sexton – KJ
Kon – Mann – NSJ – Sion – Green
Miller – Okogie – Liam – Jeffries
Bridges – Grant – Salaun
Trade for Center – Kalkbrenner – Moussa
THAT TEAM MAKES THE PLAY IN AT LEAST.
Drop Curry, Taj, Wendell, Baugh, etc…
Love the trade for the Hornets but I’d doesn’t make any sense for the Hornets and Jazz. Jazz already have 3 white boy bigs (Lauri, Kessler and Flip).
Didn't the Hornets just draft 3 guards? So as far as centers go the Hornets have the rookie and a 6'9" Moose.
We’ll see how it works. May need to add at least one more true big. No problem with Sexton though.
Bridges, McNeeley and a couple draft picks for Giannis. Last time Coach Lee and GA were together they won a ring. JS.
We will see
What are the Hornets doing.. they got rid of 2 good centers..
Do you think we going to cut Seth Curry?
I’ve been a big fan of The Young Bull for a while and I’m glad to have him on the squad 🐝
Good show you keep it real I appreciate that you are a fan, but not a fan boy congrats D!!!!!
I think this is a prove it year for Nick Smith Jr., & KJ Simpson…Seeing us acquire Sexton and not tendering Mann, tells me we are done carrying multiple (crippling) injuries.(outside of Lamelo) & the able bodies arent gonna be here just holding positions… we are looking for players who embody hornets dna & are willing to make a "daily commitment to getting better" (Coach Lee has preached)… so some improvements have to be evident this year, coming up.
