This just took a VERY Interesting Turn…

this is a steal for the Toronto Raptors as we know it’s been widely reported the Toronto Raptors are looking to free agency in the trade market to find their backup center position and Dron Sharp has just been made available in a surprising turn of events in even more shocking turn of events DeAndre Aiden’s also on the market and he is generating some smoke amongst Toronto Raptors fans so we’ll discuss him as well but more importantly the guy that would be the perfect fit for this team so we’ll dive into all the options the Toronto Raptors have at that center position what the latest updates are saying and why the Raptors are perfectly positioned to make this sneaky signing to fill that backup center void here right now staying away from some of the potential risks of the Ben Simmons or DeAndre Aidens of the world so lots of stuff to break down in this video but folks I can’t thank you guys enough you guys have been crushing it hitting that subscribe button as of late supporting the channel a ton and our goal our mission is 40,000 subscribers so if you aren’t a part of the army we’re building here at Raptors Digest the community that’s being built up and you want daily twice a day three times a day Toronto Raptors updates with all the latest news during free agency make sure you guys hit that subscribe button because we’re delivering everything that’s going on with this Toronto Raptors team so what is going on what’s the latest developments what is happening with this backup center position because there was a lot of criticism Shade thrown the way the Raptors front office when they didn’t draft common Malawatch now we got some insights last night in terms of why they didn’t do it and it wasn’t because of Messiah Jerry you can check out my most latest video on that or the video I dropped last night i don’t know what order all these things are going up but basically news just came out that really should have some Raptors fans excited because over the weekend we did get this report this insight that the Brooklyn Nets declined to tenure Don Sharp to his one-year uh $6 million qualifying offer he’ll be an unrestricted free agent averaging eight points per game and 6.6 six rebounds and 18 minutes per night this season now the Nets do have hope to resign him with the cap space flexibility so that’s that came out i’m like okay he might go back to the Nets the Lakers might be interested in all that stuff but the Nets just made a move literally before recording that makes this all the more likely for the Toronto Raptors to swoop in and pick up Dron Sharp who is the quintessential kind of guy you’d want at the backup center position here right now as news just came out just broke the Nets are signing Zar Williams to a one-year deal so a deal or two-year deal yeah two-year deal at $12 million annually so they gave that money to Williams and of course he is a player that plays similar position similar roles and stuff like that so the Nets they uh it wouldn’t shock me now they’re less likely to pursue Dron Sharp very heavily especially after all the draft picks and signings that they made during this year’s NBA draft so Darren Sharp is in the open market as an unrestricted free agent and the Raptors have a golden opportunity to give him some actual run so who the heck is this guy right as uh Mike Scott put it eight points per game 6.6 rebounds 1.8 assists and 18 minutes per night is very very solid again doesn’t take a high volume of three-point shots by any stretch of the imagination but has been able to show he’s capable of knocking down a shot out there from every now and then but 18 minutes per night 0.8 blocks per game 0.8 steals you know he has he’s 6’11 with a solid wingspan only 23 years old this is a guy that frankly I would be very very interested in bringing in as he’s shown again the Brooklyn Nets haven’t been phenomenal by any stretch of the imagination but a guy that’s been capable of putting up numbers of being a solid big man out there in the league and you get him to the Toronto Raptors development system you get him in a place where he’s getting run over and where there’s you know of course Yaka Pearl is going to be the starting center on this team but you know Sharp brings a different flare a different style of rim protection of defense to this squad and we know Bobby Webster we know this new look Toronto Raptors team they are going all in on the defensive end of the floor it’s what why they took CMBB out there at the number nine overall selection the best defender in this year’s NBA draft it’s why Elijah Martin is on this roster they used him as a second round pick even though some said he’d go undrafted that dude is a dog defensively and can knock down threes so Dron Sharp will be able to come out and play that fill that center void that we need because again the Raptors have Yaka Purle he’s the center he’s going to get extended this summer that’s what’s going to go down but Yaka Purle usually not usually but he’s not injuryprone but centers across the NBA you have to be aware of their injury risks and if Yaka Purle’s out for a stretch of time this season and then we are running Jonathan Mo at the center spot you know extended run of Olar Shamsh we’re not sure how ready he is at the NBA level and Doug Smith essentially just came out with an article too saying that he’s on a development path they don’t expect him to be a key contributor this season the Raptors need someone to be able to fill that void at the center spot and Dron Sharp is my pick to be the steel of the off season for this Raptors team so Dron Sharp is the perfect acquisition for this team we can make it happen and fit it under our books but there are a couple other names that have been tossed around of course and uh the other guy is DeAndre Aton who news broke last night that DeAndre Aton is finalizing a contract buyout with the Portland Trailblazers to become a free agent sources tell ESPN and while certainly especially you get him on a bargain of price and all that type of stuff deandre Aiden would certainly be a better player to bring in as a backup center for this Raptors team do not get me wrong do not get it twisted the Raptors have had interest in Aton in the past there was smoke that they might have traded for him out there at this year’s uh deadline and stuff deandre Aiden linked to the Toronto Raptors and everything like that he’s not going to eclipse Yaka Purle as a starting center deandre Aiden wants to fit into a team where he’s going to redeem his value and get back in the mix and be on a contending squad that’s kind of DeAndre Aiden’s priorities right now we don’t really fit the bill despite the fact you know he’s a he’s a great player the Raptors have that interest and he’d be a better fit like for this team just in general as a backup center position you know 14.4 four points per game 10 rebounds all that type of stuff and people are speculating because the odds had RJ Barrett it’s most likely Trey Destination being the Portland Trailblazer so hey maybe it’s a DeAndre Aiden for RJ Barrett swap that was discussed that was talked about and all of that but DeAndre Aiden wants to be in that role where he’s going to redeem his value and be more interested not a guy that’s getting his contract bought out in the final year of his deal that’s what’s uh going to go on he’s going to be a starter somewhere say what you want about his game and stuff he’s a starting caliber center so I don’t expect him to really make his way up to Toronto so DeAndre Aiden be a good surprise if he became to this Toronto Raptor team i don’t think it’s any world realistic so what other options are we dealing with this other one I mentioned is Ola Shamsh who Bobby Webster and stuff came out and said like it’s it’s he’s on the right development path but is still at least a year away so Ola Shamshay I’m not holding my breath to be the you know 15 20 minutes a night per guy per game uh you know this upcoming season so sharp as an option as well as the man that we’ve been bringing up on recent vids and Ben Simmons as last season average averaged 55 and five is 610 himself 28 years old a really good switchable defender and yes there’s no world hope for a three-point shot yes you get the drama which has been really mitigated in recent seasons it feels like he’s been really humbled by all the injuries and stuff over the past few years so I know some people are saying “Oh he’s a drama queen.” It’s this in the comment section but I don’t expect uh you know if we stay on the you know the drama what is it the let’s get this graphic back we get back on the young socialite watch he’s on the Toronto Raptors it’s going to be a messy situation i wouldn’t be have any concerns out there on that front if you listen to his interviews and stuff like that there basically the concern would be hey the lack of jump shooting and is he a reliable like actual five can you play him you know if Yaka Purle’s out for 20 games next season do you rely on Ben Simmons as you know your deacto center do you rely on that and that’s not something I’m 100% sure of again coming off the bench at that center position could be very cool but it could be matchup dependent and all that type of stuff so Ben Simmons is definitely an option I’d be intrigued by but Dron Sharp is an actual you know usual night in nightight out five in the NBA so probably my uh my better fit for this Raptors team of course we also you know just signed um Omarui to an exhibit 10 contract he’d have to really prove himself to be on the main roster next season and you have Colin Castleton as well that might sneak his way onto the roster so definitely a bunch of different options we’ll see how things shake out let me know what you guys think about all this in the comments section down below you guys best think so far subscribe to the channel i’m signing out cheers

  1. Ayton signing here to be a backup center ? 😂 Let’s get real here and act like we know basketball guys. Ayton is a starting center in this league he’s not coming here to be a backup for Jakob. If he’s going somewhere to come off the bench it’s going to be somewhere he can ring chase. That guy can go to a few teams and start. He can go to a team like the Pelicans and start over Yves Missi, He can go to the Bucks where Lopez is out of contract, and he can go to a team like the Celtics who just lost Porzingis.

  2. Plus he played with SB in past.
He is not as good pick and role. I would rather trade Ochai and Colin C for Jalen Smith. He would be $9 mil. Better for screens and can shoot three.

  3. If we can’t afford anyone or trade Paul Reed is somewhere between backup and 3rd C level but we could get for $2mil.

  4. 3:47 can you add the minutes played per game when highlighting stats for players? Easier to comprehend their impact with amount of minutes played i find. Thank you

  5. The best thing for Bobby is to be proactive.. that’s how he separates himself from Masai.

  6. Sharpe as a Tack? Domin-Ayton? Naw. Hell naw. Young Socialite? Yeeeeaaaahhhh get the Ben SimMons-ter up here!

Anything less than the BS at the 5 and Bobby take his 1st L as Masai-less GM duties.

Finally… the BS has come back to… Toronto… if you smellllalalalalla what the Bob. Is. Cooking…

  7. Buddy he’s signing a 2 year contract with the nets😂😂 should of waited 45 mins to post this would of saved ur time lol

  8. Ben. Day'Ron Sharpe is a former team mate of Scottie's at Montverde….i believe they're also friends. Would love to see him on the Raptors. He's a big guy…i think he's about 6ft 9" and about 260, he's powerful. it would be great if we can get him somehow.

  9. Did you see the rumour that Giannis's agent is one of the options the Raptors are looking to pick up to replace Masai? If we get Giannis's agent, the chances of us getting Giannis is so much higher

  10. Pipe dreams… more pipe dreams. The Nets are going to re-sign Sharpe. Ayton is going to the Lakers. Both Luka and Ayton have the same agent. He was bought out for that very reason. this is just more of the Luka trade. No one knew Ayton was going to be bought out just like no one knew Luka was on the trade market. Who wants a broken down Ben Simmons? He can't shoot not play in b2b games. He will miss at least 30 games. Should have just drafted Maluach or Queen.

  11. Sharpe has a great motor, great skillset, and is still improving every season. He would be the perfect backup center for the next couple seasons. Adding a piece like him would make the Raps roster complete, and would make them very competitive going into next season. They should do it!

  12. Sharpe is a DAWG. He’s just been stuck behind Claxton but when claxton has been hurt, Sharpe has shown to be a very very quality big man. If we can snag him for 15 mil or less per year, it’s an instant yes

  13. Sharpe already resigned with Netz and Ayton going get 15+mill plus a year on the market . The toronto raptors next season roster is pretty much set in stone . They need a Back up big either thats going to be the bright green Ulrich chomche or they go out get someone for cheap i like the idea of Taj Gibson or take a number on Marvin Bagley

  14. i might be crazy but what if the raptors sign luka garza? the twolves declined his team option and hes never really been given a chance. for a great defensive team as the raptors it could hide his defensive flaws and hes a great scorer and he can shoot to space the floor. would be a good 10-18 min a night backup if given the chance.
