REPORT: Lakers Pursuing Nic Claxton in Trade Talks with Brooklyn Nets

nicholas Claxton potentially being shipped off to Los Angeles that is the latest rumor surrounding the Brooklyn Nets with free agency less than 2 days away hello everyone and welcome in to the Brooklyn boys show connor Long Josh Williver here with you on the program make sure you smash that like button and hit subscribe it’s completely free and it helps us grow significantly throw your questions comments thoughts in the comments section down below can’t thank you enough for all your support but the latest report surrounding the Brooklyn Nex actually comes from a Lakers reporter that being Dan W of the Athletic on with world famous radio host Jim Rome where he said net center Nick Claxton has been tied to the Lakers in trade rumor but quote no real cattle chatter so far he also added that the asking price for Claxton just a few months ago was a first round pick josh what do you think’s a fair asking price for Nick Nick Claxton and do you think he’s on the Brooklyn Nets roster come the start of the 25 26 i think a fair price for Nick Claxton is a first round pick and a young role player in exchange do I think he’ll be on the Brooklyn Nets come 2025 season i’m going to say yes i don’t want him to be but I think Shawn Marx is too stingy to be willing to realize where he made a mistake and be willing to recognize that and try and backtrack and make up for that i think Shawn Marks has the mindset of I’ve given this guy his four-year contract i’m going to stick with it throughout his tenure and we’ll figure it out after that so I do think he’ll be a net although it probably won’t be best for the organization and Los Angeles really needs a center so I wouldn’t be shocked if they try and make a push for Claxton absolutely and that’s another thing anthony Irwin another Lakers reporter for clutch points.com came out and said “The Lakers are so desperate for centers that other teams are beginning to try to take advantage of him.” I mean look I completely agree with what you just said there shawn Marks isn’t the type to like to admit he is wrong on a player i think a first round pick though is a very fair asking price for Nick Claxton i know he’s coming off a rough season and has that contract but let’s not forget just two seasons ago he was a defensive player of the year candidate he was someone who got you two blocks tonight he was a guy who could get you a double double if you needed it nick Claxton was a very reliable player throughout his throughout his NBA career before this past season so he’s certainly shown he has the talent i don’t think he’s worth the contract one tiny bit and I do believe he’s a Brooklyn Net this season agreeing with you because Shawn Marks does not like to admit he is wrong on a player he handed this guy a contract just last off season and I don’t think he wants to get out of it shawn Marks likes his guys shawn Marks has his guys who he really likes on this team it happens to be Nick Claxton and Cam Johnson two players that the fan base really doesn’t like and and want so I completely agree that Nick Claxton is is ultimately a Brooklyn Net come the the 2025 26 uh start to the season josh what do you think his role looks like though on this Nets’s team do you think he’s the starting big man i mean that could certainly change with Dron Sharp coming back as an restricted free agent most likely drafting Danny Wolf do you think he’s a starter on this team at the opening of the season
i think day one yes he has taken that tip off for you most one of the more experienced Nets that’s on this roster he’s growing and developing uh and and he’s gotten his extension i think absolutely he’s the starting center on this team but I think by the end of the year there’s some serious competition to be talked about we talked about it on the on the live stream just a couple of days ago having Gary on about what Danny Wolf’s role could be on this team and I truly think as a athletic versatile big man that’s the future of the NBA at the center spot you look at a guy like Nick Claxton he’s not scoring buckets for you outside of a little six-foot semiircle right next to the rim and he’s a 50% free throw shooter from the line danny Wolf’s versatility I think it’s going to be very hard for coach Jordy Fernandez to keep him off the floor whether that means moving him to power forward and keeping Claxton on the court I think all depends on how the rest of the landscape of the team works out whether Claxton’s playing well whether you have a guy like Noah Clowny stepping up and embracing his spot at the four so I think Danny Wolf really is what hinges the decision of how much playing time Nick Claxton gets obviously they haven’t dealt Dron Sharp’s contract out but I do think he’ll be a net coming up this season there are rumors there are talks there are reports but as the days begin to go by Nick Claxton remains a Brooklyn Net and it’s looking like that will be the case throughout the 2025 2026 season let us know your thoughts in the comments section down below smash the like button hit subscribe can’t thank you enough for all of your support right here on the show for Josh i’m Connor signing off right here on the Brooklyn Boys Show
