TRADE! Celtics send Kristaps Porzingis to Atlanta in salary dump
less than 24 hours after trading away Drew Holidayiday Brad Stevens has done it again reportedly trading Kristoff Spzingis to the Atlanta Hawks in a three-team deal including the Brooklyn Nets in a deal that gets them George Nyang and a second round pick they traded a second round pick to Atlanta in this deal if you’re curious Terrence Man and Atlanta’s pick number 22 goes to Brooklyn but the more important thing for Boston is this gets them under the second apron and at this point about $7 million under the second apron there is room to maneuver there is room to figure out Luke Cornet Al Horford even if they go above the second apron there are moves that they can make to get back underneath brad Stevens needed to clear salary and he did in stunning fashion this is a straight salary dump unlike the Drew Holiday trade where you get back somebody of value Anthony Simons has value how much we’ll see what they do with him we’ll see but Porzingis moving at this point was a bit shocking to me because I thought he was the one guy you could keep around and wait until the deadline to figure out but nope Brad Stevens moved quickly to get this salary dump done the Celtics clearly not a finished product at this point clearly retooling very impressively retooling quickly brad Stevens knew the assignment and he completed it and this is just the beginning because there are obviously subsequent moves to be made here but Boston is now under that second apron that dreaded second apron that is coming for everybody much much more reaction here on the Locked On Celtics podcast coming up
