Mavericks Rumors Before 2025 NBA Free Agency On LeBron James & D’Angelo Russell

[Music] it sounds like D’Angelo Russell is going to be a Dallas Maverick and you can tell by the tone of my voice that I am not too thrilled about that but it sounds like it’s happening so we are going to talk about it here on the channel mark Stein reporting that the Mavericks are expected to sign D’Angelo Russell to a two-year around $12 million contract to be the starting point guard for the Mavericks in the 2526 NBA season it sounds like this one’s going to happen quick as well within the first maybe even hour of free agency as the Mavericks have been working quickly behind the scenes and gee I wonder how they can hammer out a deal and even though they’re not even supposed to be talking to D’Angelo Russell in the first before 5:00 p p.m central time but hey I guess you know everyone’s allowed to tamper nowadays but when D’Angelo Russell signs we will have you covered because we are going live here on the channel later today join us at 400 p.m for live free agency three-point percentage was not very good um he can score in volume we we all know that and I do think that the Maverick’s number one option going into free agency was going to be Chris Paul but by all accounts he wants to stay on the West Coast and it looks like he’s going to be signing with the Los Angeles Clippers and having a little reunion there in LA i wish the Mavs would have got CP3 over D’Angelo Russell but to be honest at this point like he he really is the best option if Chris Paul is off the board and so the Mavericks are going to go out and get their best option my hope is that D’Angelo Russell is able to kind of recapture the form that he was in a couple of years ago with Los Angeles where he was a key piece on a winning team shot it pretty efficiently was able to dish dish out the ball to his teammates and was able to run an offense and that’s what the Mavericks are going to be needing from D’Angelo Russell they’re not going to need D’Angelo Russell the shot chucker they’re going to need D’Angelo Russell the point guard and with Kyrie out until probably February maybe late January if you’re lucky Russell is going to be running the show whether you like it or not whether I like it or not grade the potential signing of D’Angelo Russell down in the comments section A B C D or F how would you rate this signing for Nico Harrison and the Dallas Mavericks let me know i’m curious to hear what you guys have to say olivier Max Hunts Prosper could be on the trade block for the Dallas Mavericks and the Mavs are reportedly shopping him so they can keep Dante Exom in the fold they would have to trade away in order to keep Dante Exom given the roster constraints i believe there’s mutual interest between XM and the Mavericks on a return as that’s been reported but as of right now the roster is kind of squeezing XM out so the Mavs would like to trade Prosper who in two seasons with the Mavs really just hasn’t got it going in Dallas he’s averaging you very little numbers in both the points and the rebounding category not shooting it well just 26% from three and less than 40% from the field and I know these are limited opportunities but it really just hasn’t clicked for Olivier Max’s prosper in his two seasons with the Mavericks and when the Mavs drafted both Lively and Omax I was really thinking that this would be Omax would be the more pro ready guy than Derek Lively and it really just hasn’t clicked for him i wish it had but is someone who is just he has the NBA body he has the ability he’s ready to be a I or he it looks like he’s ready to be able to play in the NBA right now but he really hasn’t uh figured out a place in this rotation for this Mavericks team and the Mavs are a team that’s trying to win right now and if they the Mavs could send Omax to a different team who could find a way for it to click then maybe it would because I I just don’t know if it’s going to happen here given the Mavericks are in this current situation and if you’re choosing between Prosper or Dante Exom the choice is easy i’m going with Dante Exom any day of the week he’s someone that is a point of attack defender he shot very well from three-point range 49% two excuse me two years ago 43 and a half% last year exm also can push the pace as a guard on offense he can get the Mavericks on in transition on the fast break pretty quickly i think Exom is a very valuable piece and I know that he’s injured more often than not and you would like to see a little more health from him but I think the Mavericks retaining Dante Exom is more important than keeping Olivier Maxon’s prosper who just really hasn’t had it click for him in his two seasons in Dallas if this is the maneuver the Mavericks end up making I would very much like that from Nico Harrison and the boys over in the Mavericks front office you just got to have all of the ball handling help you can possibly have omax wouldn’t have been in the rotation this season so get people who to Cooper Flag and shout out to Fanatics here we go again i saw it yesterday all on the timeline so we have to talk about it if LeBron James asked out of Los Angeles the Mavericks are expected to be in the mix for his services yoan Buha of formerly of the Athletics said there has been some buzz in general NBA ether ether over the last two weeks with LeBron and Dallas lebron did opt into his 52.6 million player option next season and executives and people around the league were wondering if this was a precursor to a potential trade request cuz LeBron is not happy with the direction the Lakers are going in and I don’t think the Lakers are too particularly thrilled with LeBron opting into his deal when they were going to their their plan was to have him opt out and give him a little less money so they could have some more flexibility and it doesn’t seem like it’s a marriage made in heaven anymore after eight seasons with the Lakers and as far as the Mavericks go we do this every time LeBron rumors surface we know that the Mavericks met with LeBron in 2014 before he went back to Cleveland we know that the Mavericks have been mentioned with LeBron multiple times last season the season before it’s always if LeBron were to leave the Lakers it would be for the Mavericks i’ll just believe it when I see it at this point but the Mavs do have some pretty significant LeBron James ties on their roster obviously Kyrie Irving who he won a championship with in Cleveland with the Cavaliers anthony Davis who he played with on the Lakers won the championship nico Har or excuse me yeah Nico Harrison was an executive at Nike and LeBron is Mr nike so those guys have a relationship dating back 20 plus years and Jason Kidd was an assistant on that Lakers championship squad so the Mavericks certainly do have LeBron ties and if LeBron were to ask out of Los Angeles the Mavs I think would be near the top of the list but I don’t think LeBron is going anywhere this season the Mavs wouldn’t trade $52.6 million worth of salary back to LA in order to get LeBron i don’t think it’s just it’s even feas feasible for the Mavs to do so but next season it could be a possibility if LeBron becomes a free agent and wants to come to Dallas i could see them trying to work something out look LeBron is still playing at an incredibly high level at the age of 40 last season 24.4 four points almost eight boards over eight assists over 50% from the field he’s still one of the best 15 20 players in the league and while I don’t think it happens this year a final year in Dallas with the Mavericks with Kyrie with Anthony Davis kid Nico Harrison Cooper Flag don’t rule it out i definitely could see it as a possibility i know we’ve talked about it again bunch of times over the last couple of years but there are there are a lot of cooks in the kitchen so to speak there are a lot of ties with LeBron and the Mavericks if he wants to leave Los Angeles next season be on the lookout for Nico Harrison and the Mavs to potentially bring in a 41-year-old LeBron James let me know will LeBron James ever suit up for the Dallas Mavericks if you think he will type Y for yes if you do not type N for no look man I I really do think that if he were to change teams once again if he doesn’t retire the Mavericks would be a legit possibility but I just don’t see him ever suiting up here in the blue and white for the Mavericks and at the end of the day I really think this is just LeBron putting pressure on Rob Pelinka and the Lakers uh front office to try to put the pieces around both him and Luca to win a championship next season because right now LeBron isn’t too thrilled with the state of the Lakers roster they desperately need a center they need more wing depth they need another backup point guard to spell Luca like that team has a lot of holes that needs to fill and LeBron opting in certainly doesn’t help them but maybe it puts pressure on them to go all in on this season and then when LeBron were to hit free agency next summer then they could do a pretty big reset but in my opinion I think all of this LeBron talk and him opting in is to just put pressure on that front office to try to do right by him and try to make them as competitive as they can in the Western Conference so I don’t think it’s a ploy to get to the Mavericks unfortunately but who knows
