Charlotte Hornets Sign Mason Plumlee…. For Real
He’s back. He’s coming back. Mason Plumbley has agreed to a one-year $3.6 million deal with the Charlotte Hornets. Bro, hello. My name is Sam. I’m a Hornets fan and uh welcome back to Charlotte Mason with free agency open and given the fact the Hornets traded Nerkach and Mark Williams drafted Cal Brener and still have Musa Diabate. You know, we all knew the Hornets would have to sign a center this off season, right? Right. Did anyone expect it to be Mason Plumbley? Not me. I didn’t expect this. I had higher hopes with like with with respect to Mason Plumbley like with the utmost respect to Plumbley. It does leave a little like oh damn like couldn’t do any better. Couldn’t do any better. It’s a it’s a bit of an you know Jeff Peterson and crew have been cooking right the the John Salon selection last year it may pay off. It may work out great and I hope it does. I’m rooting for Tjon to succeed, but that was like a real downer negative mark on the Jeff Peterson era so far at least, right? Unproven product and all that. But ever since pretty much every move has been like super solid. This is a little less solid. Like realistically, it does make sense, but it is a disappointment. I had higher hopes. I did. I did. I’m guilty of it. I’m guilty of it. I was watching my phone light up with all this Al Horford stuff. Um, all the teams interested in Horford and not a peep about Charlotte. And then not too long after, Mason Plumbley’s coming back to town. Let’s talk through this real quick. The Hornets need a veteran center to get them through the season, right? It’s just it’s a matter of fact. It’s it’s it’s where we’re at right now and who that man was going to be. I’m just noticing right now I’m watching City play in the Club World Cup on my laptop and you can see it behind me. I’m like, you know, it’s fine. Whatever. You get a you get a two in one. You have something to watch while I talk. I understand why Plumbley is back, but it is disappointing. I wanted Horford. I didn’t get Horford. I was cool with Cornette. didn’t get cornet, but they need a center to get through the season. Diabate isn’t enough. Kal Brener is a rookie. He’s not a young player. He’s a grown ass man with a with a wife. He is not enough. Mason Plumbley in the mix. We’ll probably start diabet you see where you where see what you got as the season goes on. And at the end of the day, I hate to keep saying it, but I got to keep saying it. The expectations for this team are low. There’s not a push to get to the playoffs, right? And this is proof positive of that. Mason is a pro. He works his ass off. Like Mason Plumbley in Charlotte, was it two years he was he was with us? I feel like it was two seasons, maybe longer, but maybe season and a half. Was it a season and a half? Yeah, it was a season and a half. 73 games the first year and then 56 the next. Pretty durable, which is needed, right? High work rate, high character. Um, shoots left-handed free throws, which is fire. Does he still do that? I don’t even know if he still does that. I don’t know. Offer some playmaking. He like Mason Plumbley outplayed Nerkach in Phoenix. So, it’s another like weird recycled situation going on between us and the Suns. It’s It’s very strange how this is all working out. How like Phoenix is and and Charlotte’s interconnectivity continues with this deal. But, brother, like it is less than exciting to say the least. And I say that with respect because Mason Plumbley is a competent he uh NBA player. He is a legitimate NBA player. It’s just like are we’re going in. We’re going in. We’re going to have another year where Mason Plum is the starting center for the Charlotte Hornets. And that’s a that’s a bit of a bummer. Bit of a bummer. But on the plus side, you look at Diabate with another year and the upside of Cal Brener, maybe Mason Plumbley as a starting center doesn’t become a thing we have to endure for the entire season because who knows, maybe one of those guys could earn the spot and Mason takes a a back seat to what we have going on here. Who knows? But largely, it’s a bit of a it’s a bit of a no. And I say that with respect because Mason does deserve the respect. And uh damn. Damn, man. Damn. And what do you know? Another Duke guy. The pipeline continues. The pipeline continues. Anyway, what do you think about Mason Plumbing coming back? Let me know in the comments below at Twitter. On Twitter, Sam Dracula. But until next time, I’m I’m gonna keep an eye on the free agent announcements as they come in. Hopefully, we get something more exciting in the near future. Please. Hopefully. Still waiting on a Trey man decision. Still like waiting for a Josh Koji outcome. I know that got pushed back to the 15th of July. Tough. Tough. A lot of love. A lot of love. Not Not a lot of love for this one. Not a lot. Not a lot of love for this one. again respectfully. But until next time, I’ve been Sam. You’ve been great. Peace.

I can't really blame them. Plumlee is probably the best option for them. Lopez or Capela were really our only real options outside of a really bad guy like Plumlee, and both probably wanted to go to places that weren't Charlotte. I think Plumlee is good as a stopgap center to help fill the minutes Kalk and Moussa aren't ready for yet. Plus, this probably leaves us room to bring back Tre.
Edit: hopefully they bring in an UDFA big man to help as well. They really need help there.
Bro the suns had him and we traded the ones that took his job to the suns smh well see what happens
As a Tarheel, I might have to find a new team if they pickup another Duke player. My guy there are other teams in the ACC
Well… at least he’s a big. I think he’s better than Nurcic however you spell it. At least I don’t have to worry about him shooting threes. We have 1000 guards to do that.😂
They need one more big.
Mason is not the starting center 😂
Plumlee is a good center, but of course he is not going to help win a championship. Dayron Sharpe, a Tarheel, now that might have been interesting!
Pulleezze … old ass Horford is days from drawing social security checks
Damn Charlotte like them w boys
🤦🏾♂️👎🏾 At least Jeff still has time to move off him, smh.😒
Even with the East having been weakend once again right out the FA gates I fear I will never see a Hornets post season in my
or the franchise's, whoever kerplunks firstlifetimeMoose better be the starting center still
Dammit
Hopefully Ryan is starting
Looks like the replacement for Taj Gibson, his better and younger than Taj his played with guys like melo and miles before so will slot in well. Plumlee is not a big name signing but will do the dirty work under the rims and do it pretty well for the price.
Plumble is a good passer out da high post an pick an roll I’m not gone lie dis was smart for this team because they needed a playmaking big coming off that bench with kon an company
I couldn't wait to hear your reaction !!! Didn't disappoint. We love Plumblee, if for no other reason, than the comic relief … gotta respect the Hornet's DNA … I smell a little bit of Mitch in the wings, making one last play before heading into real retirement.
We are a joke.
Plumdogggg
We are not the type of franchise to do a mistake once , we are the kinda of franchise to do every mistake over and over again. We are a joke of franchise
Better than nothing
ffs
