Miami Heat are Free Agency BUYERS… and Pat Riley is AWAKE?! | Updates Heading into Free Agency
so today is the start of NBA free agency and here’s what the Miami Heat have to work with they have a penny they also have a chip and they have a a napkin i hope uh I hope people get that reference but they also happen to have $14 million now you may be wondering to yourself how did the Heat put themselves in this position well let’s rewind a little bit trust all right lord please trade us Jiannis Denumbo for Terry Rosir and a second round pick thank you amen all right uh do something huh i’ll give Duncan a call yes hello Duncan you’re fired
what i I have a player option sir
don’t care let’s give DaVon a ring hey DaVon I’m going to send you a blank check in the mail just fill it out and get back to me when you get a chance all right all right you have a good day now well all right and that’s how we got where we are today with free agency kicking off at 6:00 p.m i want to take a look at the current Miami Heat cap sheet where it appears that they have 12 of 15 players under contract but that’s because the website I’m using spo track they haven’t taken into account yet the Davon Mitch resigning or the rookie deal of Casper Yakonis it also shows that they have $34 million in cap space under the first apron but of course that won’t be the case once those other guys are included so to tell you their actual genuine cap space I want to refer to the cap expert Yasi Goslin who points out that the Heat are currently $14 million under the luxury tax and $19 million under the first apron this is critical because it allows the Mahi Heat to have full access of their mid-level exception which is worth $14 million along some other perks because in general you do not want to be a team operating over the aprons especially if you’re not going to be good because there’s all kind of team building restrictions that are associated with that not just oh saving Mickey Harrison money i I don’t care about that but for example if you’re a second apron team you can’t aggregate contracts you don’t have use of your exceptions all sort of things that make it difficult to build a team so I definitely agree with trying to get under those aprons because that’s why a team right now like the Phoenix Suns are in a terrible spot they were over the second apron before Kevin Durant trade obviously they were kind of stinky and now they’re still under the second apron after the Durant trade and they’re not going to be a good team so they’re going to need to find a way to shed salary just like the Boston Celtics did as much as it pains me to say Brad Brad Stevens has put on a masterclass in asset management because he saw Tatum go down he acknowledges that they’re not going to be good next year so the first thing he did is shed a ton of salary by trading Drew Holiday getting rid of Christos Porzingis and now that allows the Celtics to be under the second apron they still have a little bit of work they need to do to get under the first apron but that’s why they’re taking calls on Derek White Jaylen Brown we’ll see what happens with that i know a lot of people will call Mickey Harrison cheap and to a certain extent he definitely is definitely has done a lot of moves that has shown that but I do want to point out that if there was a year to shed salary this would be the year to do it because there is a such thing called the repeaters tax in which a team has to pay it if they’re over the luxury tax for a certain number of consecutive years and again I don’t care what’s in Mickey Harrison’s pockets he has more money than I can fathomably imagine what that’s even like but I can’t say that I blame him for using this down year to dip under the luxury tax because I don’t expect this to be a great year for the Miami Heat they very well might be a good team in a weaker Eastern Conference but I think it’s more so going to be a year where we hopefully develop the young guys if Spo will play them uh but either way they’re not even close to contention so Duncan Robinson did us a solid by opting out of the final year of his contract because he saved the Miami Heat $20 million well sort of duncan’s final year with Miami was only half guaranteed meaning that if the Heat kept him they would owe him $20 million but if they waved him then they would only owe him $10 million that’s why I looked at him as a very great trade piece that another team may be interested in because they could trade for him as if he was owed 20 million to help make the salaries work but then they could cut him right away essentially immediately saving that team $10 million off the off their salary cap so that means that if Duncan opted in he was worth or he was going to get a minimum of $10 million so we can assume that the only reason Duncan would opt out of that is because he believes that he can sign a new deal worth more than $10 million it was already reported that the Heat are interested in bringing him back so maybe they want to do a one-year deal worth about $12 million which would allow them to retain cap flexibility in 2026 or maybe they want to sign him to a longerterm deal with more years but has a smaller average annual value but more guaranteed money overall so maybe that’d be something like a three-year $24 million deal which comes to $8 million per year but of course it’s more guaranteed money overall because it’s for more years so I think both of both of those scenarios could be beneficial to Miami because you’re retaining the shooting that they desperately need you’re getting a great guy someone who’s I think the longest tenur player along with Bama Debio has never caused any locker room problems and you’re getting him on a contract that’s better than it was before it’s less money and I would still say that’s pretty tradable getting a shooter between 8 and $12 million i do think that’s something you could absolutely move if necessary i hate the whole logic of signing guys to deals that are tradable contracts like a lot of people been saying that but that’s stupid to me why would you sign a guy with the idea of trading him dina because you think you could build with him that being said I do think getting Duncan somewhere in this value would be a tradable deal if necessary that’s what I’m trying to say uh but to the same effect I think both of those scenarios would also be beneficial to Duncan because he’s getting more guaranteed money than he was previously that’s why to me I wasn’t really surprised that he opted out now as far as uh what I think will actually happen it is hard to say uh I should note that those same deals could be with teams other than Miami the reports just came out today that the Detroit Pistons will probably be heavily interested and that makes a ton of sense because their shooter that they plan on resigning was Malik Beasley had a great year with them last year but it was also reported yesterday that he’s under investigation for the Terry Rosier Jonte Porter allegations meaning that they’re looking into him for some gambling so that’s unfortunate for Malik because that certainly cost him a lot of money i’m sure he would have signed that today if possible but now all that stuff is kind of on hold at this point but maybe there’s another team out there that would that also wants Duncan Robinson that’s maybe over the salary cap right now in that case they would have to do a sign and trade with Miami which would be beneficial because then Miami gets assets in return if you remember Max Truce signed with the Cavs in free agency but he technically was a signing trade because they didn’t have cap space so the Heat actually got a second round pick in return and that could be a similar scenario that the Heat do with Duncan Robinson i do think that the Miami Heat definitely needs someone with his skill set though they don’t currently have a younger sniper in the pipeline like they did with Struce or even Cole Swider remember the Amazing Spider-Man that boy can shoot his ass off could not play a lick of defense and that’s why he didn’t really stick around but they don’t have someone like that on the summer league roster at least not to my knowledge uh you could always find a shooter somewhere else on the cheaper contract maybe it’s Alec Burks but those are different type of players right i don’t like just uh like putting Duncan in a box as a shooter because he’s actually an exceptional passer for for his position the kind of connection he has with Bam we know about the dribble handoff even he has such an improved drive game i think he’s more versatile than a shooter while also being the best shooter in franchise history so I don’t want to just discredit Duncan Robinson like we can just get rid of him and and we won’t miss him he’s a very valuable skill set i think the Miami He can use that uh I also think that Duncan likes Miami but I think he was incredibly frustrated by last season so much inconsistent playing time if he missed his first two threes Spo would yank him out the rotation and never put him back in i understand spo in a hard spot you’re trying to win as many games as possible but from a shooter’s mentality if you’re putting that much pressure on making your first or second shot it’s difficult and it’s not easy to get into a rhythm if you’re having consistent playing time so I could definitely see why Duncan Robinson would be frustrated with that he was also barely played in the playoffs until the last game game four the Heat were getting blown out and then spo puts Duncan with all the bench players it’s kind of disrespectful i get it Duncan you’re making a ton of money go play basketball who cares if it’s a blowout i understand but from his standpoint I could see it being disrespectful you know you’re out there with Kashad Johnson and all these younger kids you know Duncan he’s he has a reputation there it’s just a little bit disrespectful uh and we know he was frustrated by it because he didn’t even speak in the postseason press conference with all the players you had no Wiggins which I get i mean he’s a quiet guy he doesn’t like to talk much as it is you had no Terry Rosier obviously he would have got grilled but to see no Duncan that surprised me back then and maybe it shouldn’t have because yeah he was clearly frustrated it’s just he literally has a podcast where he talks about basketball he couldn’t talk in the end of season presser i don’t know i think he should have spoke but I I understand why he didn’t truthfully I could see it going either way i’d be cool if that he could retain Duncan on a one-year booster deal or maybe for longer years but not for more than $10 million a year i don’t want to keep overpaying these role players like they did with him previously if you don’t keep Duncan you got to get some shooting somewhere because you’re going to need the spacing for guys like Bam and Tyler to continue attack and go downhill but more importantly for a guy like Asparus to operate Adam Simon talked so much about how great he is as a finisher at the rim but he doesn’t have elite speed or handle he’s going to need a lot of spacing to get to the rim and then obviously he’s such an elite facilitator when it comes to driving and kicking but if you can’t drive because you don’t have the spacing it kind of makes all of his best skills you know negligent at that point so if you don’t keep Duncan got to get some spacing for these guys now getting into the DaVon Mitchell contract the Heat signed him pretty quickly to a 2-year $24 million deal and I like it uh they didn’t let him hang around in restricted free agency where another team can screw you over by signing him to a huge offer sheet that’s what happened with Tyler Johnson back in the day i’ll never forgive the Nets for signing him the $50 million and then the Heat had to match and then we were stuck with that terrible contract oh what a bad deal that was for Miami but in this case the Heat wanted DaVon Mitchell they got it done they didn’t play any games and that part I like i’ve been saying for a couple of months I’m cool with getting DaVon in the 8 to12 million range and he got 12 so that’s fine like he was literally the only Heat culture guy in the playoffs last season he’s the only guy that looked like he gave a damn and I’ve been saying every video I’m going to say it again i want to get back to the heat culture i’m tired of it being a damn marketing scheme make it mean something again and it will with guys like DaVon Mitchell so I think they needed to retain him and I’m I’m thrilled that they did he’s also a great encore fit just in terms of his play style hopefully the three-point shot is close to as good as it was last year i think it’ll be hard for him to replicate that exactly he was so lethal from downtown but if he can be a capable shooter it’s just a great fit next to a guy like a Sparsus or Tyler because he can help pick up the defensive end uh provide some spacing and provide some secondary ball handling opportunities so very happy with that as we mentioned earlier the Heat only have one available roster spot of course they can make trades to open some more spots get some more salary cap space i think the Heat will be most aggressive in trying to trade Wiggins because he’s still a decent player didn’t seem to love it here there’s already other interested teams rumored like the Lakers and the Bucks so they’ll look to move off of him and also he has a few years left on his contract and I think the Heat want to retain flexibility next off season so shedding Wigan salary is beneficial in that regard too the other guy they’re going to be aggressive in trying to trade is Terry Rosier of course we know he’s not great so for that reason his trade value is not high but he is an expiring contract and if there’s a team that’s looking to get off money for longer years maybe they flip us a better player in exchange for Terry Roser’s expiring value kind of like the opposite of we’re doing with Wiggins maybe we trade Wiggins to a team for a worse player but less years on the contract maybe we trade Terry to a team for a better player with more years it kind of cancels out but the Heat gets someone who wants to be here but those would be the two guys are aggressively trying to shop if the Heat don’t make any moves maybe that final spot goes to Duncan maybe it goes to Alec Burks it could always go to somebody else there was a lot of free agents that already ressigned like Julius Randall who I wouldn’t have won it anyways but he got the bag kyrie Irving got the bag the one free agent I would have really liked cuz he is a He culture guy but he already resigned was Bobby Portoris so a lot of guys aren’t even available that’s why I don’t agree with the plan of banking on free agency cuz free agency doesn’t exist anymore everybody either signs extensions or demands trades after signing an extension so I don’t like that plan that being said here’s everybody currently available as a free agent or at least most of them we’ll run through these names real quick you got Brook Lopez Clint Cabella a couple of older bigs that I think Heat fans might be interested in i’m not particularly Brook Lopez the Heat need size because they need rebounding and Brook Lopez does not provide that i don’t care if he could space the floor a little bit i don’t want either of those guys bruce Brown Malcolm Brogden still good players i think they’d be nice rotation pieces on a team trying to win and that’s not the heat at this point you know Bruce Brown would have been great a couple years ago i would have liked Malcolm to maybe mentor a guy like Asparus but you just resigned DaVon Mitchell you’re probably going to keep Drew Smith so I I can’t see that happening at this point miles Turner is definitely not going nowhere bringing Tim Hardaway Jr back to Miami you know play where his dad played that’d be awesome but I don’t think Detroit’s gonna lose him d’angelo Russell do a couple of Michigan guys Duncan and Caris Levert obviously Duncan we’ve talked about him caris never been my favorite player bit of an inconsistent bucket the Heat have been linked to Dorian Finny Smith a ton he’s always been a guy that’s been kind of an elites uh three and D4 that could provide some spacing as somebody that would fit with Miami perfect i don’t think they need that build at this point again I’m trying to go young most of these guys are older you know Dennis Schroeder good player again don’t need a point guard heat legend though was on the Heat for like five seconds last year after the Jimmy Butler trade if you remember maybe they take a swing on a guy like Marvin Bagley you know a guy still only 26 years old uh previously high draft pick he trying to do a reclamation project with Kira Lewis right now maybe they try to do it with Marvin Bagley too oh the Steelers traded for Jaylen Ramsay huh wonder what the Miami Dolphins got in return i’ll check that later hopefully that we at least got some kind of pick i’ll check later but the Miami Dolphins trade jaylen Ramsay doesn’t say yet anyways good for the Dolphins man they suck as well all we got is the Panthers around this town anyways uh Chris Buchet is a bit older same with Engles mo Vagner that’s a guy I would like we’ve been doing all this talk about how the Heat need a backup big and yes they have some guys in the summer league I like like Omar Balo and they got Vlad Golden but Mo Vagner is a Heat culture guy oh I do love him another Michigan guy that’s a name I’d watch out for uh Larry Ansolder same with CP3 out Horford trey Jones you know we’ve always wanted that bit of point guard i think we drafted that in Kaspar uh GP2 would be cool as a defensive guy then you got some older prospects uh and then the guy at the very bottom is really the most interesting one right jonathan Kaminga the come bucket baby the Heat needs scoring why not get a guy who has bucket in his name and that’s because I just don’t think he’s a a great onfit court like or onc court fit a lot of Heat fans want him a lot of Heat fans don’t i to be honest I can’t be convinced either way because he is only 22 years old and he would fit the timeline he’s super athletic in theory he has all the tools to be a great two-way player but he’s not a great shooter at this point neither is Bam or Wear they’re not snipers and I just I don’t know i I don’t even know if I love his mindset one side of me respects the hell out of him for thinking that he’s better than Steph Curry and not passing him the ball the other side of me thinks he’s stupid because he’s playing with Steph Curry and can’t get him the ball and if Steve Curry doesn’t like you that’s a red flag to me but if you can get Kaminga for under under $30 million that could turn into a home run so I’m a little iffy on the whole Kaminga thing obviously that’s been one of the biggest reported rumors we’ll see what happens with that but that’s where things stand as we go into free agency while the Heat have more money than they did before they still don’t have a ton to work with so if we make moves it’s likely going to be via trade uh even if they’re even willing to offer a fair trade this time unlike the whole Kevin Durant thing brian Winhorse came out today uh and he said the Heat haven’t been aggressive in trades because they’re holding out for Giannis which obviously I would like Giannis too but to me that’s a pipe dream and having a pipe dream as your plan A just seems like kind of a dumb plan from the front office but anyways that’s really all I got to say for this video make sure to leave your thoughts down in the comments below because I’m very curious to hear what y’all think like the video and subscribe i’m on the grind it hits 8,000 subs i appreciate all the support and I’ll see y’all in the next one peace out everyone do it on my own i don’t need no dead space you know this homegrown don’t a fan

Who do you want to see the Heat target in Free Agency?
I can't stop laughing, good action!
The moment you got to a chip I knew what was coming next lol.
The Heat should be shopping Bam now. Once he has another role player mid year his value is going to be in the toilet & he’ll be on a max contract. They need to get out now

“Take it away penny”
How do you feel about the Beal + 1 FRP for Robinson and Rozier trade rumor
kuminga is the great player
Steve Kerr is an idiot
No Giannis
0:26–1:12 😂😂 that was funny got my morning laugh in
NAW is the biggest FA now we need him
Face it Anthony, Spo 's last season coaching SUCK. He lost 10 on his STUPIDITY, a d not playing his bench. That is why of SPO doesn't change his coaching style his ass can go.
I’d still rather be PHX than Mia right now. Devin Booker is a bonafide franchise player unlike Bam and Herro. BBeal will have his production increase with KD gone but he also only has 2 years left on his deal. So they’ll have max money to offer by the summer of 27. Then factor they had a nice draft, they have potential to hit the lottery again in 26 and properly rebuild around DBooker.
Miami however, appears to be dedicated to the idea Bam and Herro are max guys and building a 35-47 win Eastern playoff team yearly
Lonzo just signed and got traded so I don’t think a deal takes you off the block
Go get Luke Kornett and NAW and then trade Wiggins and get Rui and Knech, call it a day
Lmfao the kumbucket? 🤣🤣🤣
We running it back
What's the point of keeping him if he's inconsistent and not going to play
Is that lipstick?
Pat having the 5 reasons intro as his alarm is hilarious 😂
I wouldn’t mind NAW he’s a great defender that can play with Herro
😂
NAW. But the real issue is that 3 spot.
The Heat need to remain under the first Apron so they can be players NEXT offseason in free agency. They should consider moving Bam too while teams still (for some reason) value his stupid contract. Imagine if the Heat could offload Bam and get something like 3 first round picks, 3 second round picks and a young good prospect? Maybe they could even get more. Rozier also comes off the books.
Derrick white is available!?!
Sleepy Pat..lol
If we were in Duncan's position, would we have dropped our contract for much less than $10 million a year (even if it were a multiple-year contract)?
– Duncan's "Floor" to me is 2-year/$10 million, matching the total max money left in the contract he dropped, and sure .. he might be hoping for a 3-4 yr / $9-12 million per (or more), from Miami or whoever.
if we begin our season with Duncan Robinson on the team I’d already know we aren’t serious about winning
Davion averages 12/5/2 easily next year his playmaking was underrated last season I like the way he runs the offense

Heat fans are delusional Man these losers on reddit are saying luka will be here WHY WOULD LUKA DONCI COME TO A PLAY IN TEAM BRO YOU PEOPLE ARE STUCK IN BIG 3 ERA DELUSIONS. The fact that dwade is even talking shit about miami fromt office is something to be said right now
I think coach spo is the problem not Duncan Robinson… Coach spo giving rozier more playing time rather than Duncan Robinson.
I hate the idea of intentionally trading someone away for a lesser player just to get his salary off the books, so I hope they don't just give Wiggins away.
The pat part made me 😂

9:00 PM, 30-JUNE-2025 … No movements from The Heat ! … woo hoo ?
Reliable post scoring or shot creator with decent defense. That's what the heat needs after butler left.
But I do feel that miami should grow what they have though that'll be 2-3 years of barely making the playoffs.
Gotta love how we cleared out all that cap space to do fuck all.
I didn’t even want some big trade or anything. Couldn’t sign NAW? Anyone? Front office should really be more transparent about what it is they are trying to do, cause they just look like fools doing nothing.
I thought we were having a really smart offseason so far, but now I don’t know what to think of them.
It’s only day 1 hopefully we makes moves in the next few days
Spo; ALWys has been the problem. But he's a nice guy and brought up through the organization, so they hide the bad coaching and personal benching and lineup flaws that he demonstrates; year after year and ALSO , ONE OF THEEEE WORST offensive productivity coaches in league History
Probably a few other areas also but; It really has BEEN bad😶😶 Badddd
