Luke Kornet leaving Boston for San Antonio

john Corales here from the Lockdown Celtics podcast luke Cornet has agreed to a four-year $41 million deal with the San Antonio Spurs according to ESPN ending his time in Boston and leaving a big hole at center especially with the news that the Golden State Warriors are in the mix for Al Horford the Celtics were always at risk of losing Luke Cornett after a couple of really good seasons especially last season they are under financial constraints we know that and they could have paid him a $10 million a year but the long-term money was just not feasible for a team in Boston’s financial situation the Spurs are in a different situation on a different timeline and that’s a big signing for them obviously we know how good Luke Cornet can be and behind Victor Webbeyama or even next to Victor Webeyama that could be a real interesting mix in San Antonio but for the Boston Celtics they have to adjust they have lost Luke Cornett and we still don’t know about Al Horer but that could happen at some point soon so the Celtics have to find a solution at center

Luke Kornet is leaving the Boston Celtics for the San Antonio Spurs. According to ESPN he is signing a four-year $41 million deal to go to the Spurs. John Karalis of locked on Celtics has immediate reaction.

  1. Even if we resign Al we have to make a move at center or we are going to get beat up all season in the paint. Al and Queta all season doesn’t sound great.

  2. It is what it is. I wish that happy giant well. Luke will do well there.

Brad really has a challenging 2025/26 ahead. Ownership may want to aim for the bottom as JT recovers. JB could be traded later this season at the trade deadline.

  3. And then sign Luka Garza like wtf !!! All this team wants to do is shoot 3s and it shows im tired of that style and the nba ratings are too !!

  4. @Locked Thanks John I expect both Luke and Al to go elsewhere whle the C's reload and rebuild for the season after next when JT is back. Thanks for the news. I hope Luke does well in S.A

  5. Al isn't coming back to this cluster truck team. He's gone too, which is OK, but they needed Kornet to stay competitive. The Celtics apparently can't afford any good players anymore because they have to build around 53 million dollar career .106 WS/48 guy that can't dribble with his left hand.

  6. Let Al go. We need to keep Simmons. Running this same team back minus kp, Tatum and holiday would be so brutal to watch. I don’t care if we win at a certain point I just want 80 fun games where I can watch some entertaining guys

  7. Kornet, gave Boston something time. Let enjoy his journey and say thank you. Boston Celtics Nation! I'm happy with pick up of Garza…
