Year One: Rookie Season Wraps 🎁 | UTAH JAZZ
[Applause] [Music] cody Williamsowski throws down the
My name is Kyle Philippowski
isaiah Carer my name is Cody Williams
and this is year one
this is year one and this is year one what helped you push through just how long the NBA season is
i’d say one of the biggest ones is uh just taking care of my body learning how to I think if you don’t really like I said eat right if you don’t stretch after a game do your postgame lifts you’re not going to be able to play 82 like for me a big part of it was ankle moes um you know making sure my glutes and hamstrings were fired and ready to go for the game doing some stretching just doing some range of motion so usually he’s a guy that likes mainly his lower body so that’s what we’re working on right now
that’s kind of what helped get me going uh learning what times I like to eat what I like to eat to give me the most energy before a game hydrating all that little stuff for me was kind of just what helped me get through you know a season and then obviously great group of guys who I love being around makes it easier anyone asked me like what’s a moment you remember from the NBA is when we were in Memphis and I think Isaiah started he was like we should all just wear headbands and you know Oscar always wears a headband so then we put it on i remember we were laughing at speed cuz he doesn’t really know how to put a headband on so it was all the way back here i think that was like one of the times we’re really connected as a group and we were just out there really having fun
back to work cody Williams big triple [Music] you won Western Conference Wave talk about what that was like
i meant a lot playing more um getting more minutes so I mean for me it was just taking advantage of the opportunity you know just being out there you know making mistakes as well but I mean it was a learning process being more you know free-minded you know being out there i think that helped me a lot throughout you know February and then I started to get more comfortable and then I mean it just started to get better and better throughout the whole season
and there it is number four and that assist record the rookie record belongs to Isaiah Collier
uh I don’t think the rookie assist record was the goal i mean I think me and JC talked about you know all time on point so it’s a long way to go still i mean I knew I had no idea about the uh the rookie assist record until we got until I got closer to it so I mean but like I said it’s a blessing you know just be able to you know be in a conversation with a great like that so I mean I mean a long way to go for sure the Jazz return to Delta Center for their final home stand of the season sex Filipowski waste no time at the base side threeon one philip Powski for two philipowski the first rookie this season in the NBA with a 305 game
i have to prove myself all over again and you know you’re starting from level one pretty much everything that you accomplished getting up to this point of your career you know it goes out the window rookie year is supposed to be this year that you look on look back on and it’s full of great memories and it’s supposed to be perfect but I think throughout the year you realize you know this is life this is a new step for you and your career and of course there’s going to be those hard days as well um now granted I did have a lot of great memories this first year my rookie year that I’m super grateful for and I’ll always hold on to um but then you know I also realized that there’s those hard days as well and you got to make those relationships with your coaches make those relationships with your teammates be able to lean on them as well um and I think that’s just super important um seeing the whole picture of what a year looks like and um you know just being able to to embrace all of it
you could talk to the kid that showed up at training camp what would you say to him now this is this life is definitely not for everybody um you know you really got to love the game of basketball this is what you really want to do in order to enjoy it better yourself because it’s it’s definitely not an easy road to go through but you know if you can get through this then you’re only going to be so much stronger for the years ahead uh my first year in the league meant a lot to me you know just being a kid wanting to be in the NBA my whole life um I mean it was a blessing in disguise you know just to actually be out there on the NBA floor um emotional moment um you know for me and my family as well friends so I mean it was great to be out there and you know I’m excited for the future
being able to play out on the court against the best players in the world you know learn alongside the best players best coaches in the world and really just develop as a player so that way going into year two I have a great foundation and now I’m just able to build off that every year so for me year one was the best learning experience I could ask for i’m Cody Williams and that’s a wrap on year one isaiah Cer and that’s a wrap on year one
my name’s Kyle Philipki and that’s a wrap on year one [Music]

Flip needs to go full Damantas tank build, then he can truly play the 4 and 5.
Cody looking like he's put on some lbs! Let's go, good work man!
🎉❤
Cody Williams will lead us to another top 5 draft pick.
I hope cody can turn things around. He was the longest stretch for his draft position when knecht could have been had. BUT i am pulling for him.
Flip gonna be a player we already saw mid season asjustments and improvements. Him and bailey lauri clayton tonje should could together
Excited to see him again this year. Nothing wrong with a young guy taking a year or two to figure things out!
