What to Make of the Cavaliers Dean Wade Trade Rumors – Sports4CLE, 6/30/25
speculation that Dean Wade could be traded um if that happens what realistically would be the return for the Cavs well let me say this i don’t think is in the best interest for the Cleveland Cavaliers to trade Dean Wade or get off of Dean Wade’s contract obviously there’s the wing depth question now losing Isaac Aoro and then if you lose Dean Wade who do you go to can you go to DeAndre Hunter and Evan Mobley as the three fourman right and and Max Truce obviously being a wing in this league now after a couple of years with the Cavs but in realistic terms Dean Wade is the best interior and posterior um defender that the Cavs have so going away from Dean Wade who’s 6 foot n 6’10 would could be detrimental to what the Cavs have especially if they don’t go and get another wing who is 68 and above or go get a backup big that they looking at as we discussed earlier on this show but I truly believe that Dean Wade is one of the key and crucial pieces to this team and if Dean Wade isn’t brought back it could be detrimental to what the Cavs are going to do but what the Cavs can get for Dean Wade is up in the air because he’s more of a sweetener contract someone that’s not making a lot of money is on a team friendly deal so it would be questionable for me on both ends why they would go away from that even though the necessity is for him to take and make more threes that’s the biggest thing that Dean Wade has to do coming into this next season show confidence show success and show that you are willing to take tough shots even if it’s not the perfect play dean Wade has been trying to be too perfect for his entire tenure with the Cavs and I hope it doesn’t come back to bite him

Defense wins championships. I think Wade is a top five perimeter Defender in the league. At one point in the previous season, he was rated THE top Defender in the league. His three point shooting percentage is the same as merrill, Mitchell, Mobley,and Strus. BTW, the Cavs most effective lineup is Mitchel, Mobley, Wade,Allen and Hunter. Plenty of scoring and possibly the best defensive lineup in the league. Teams would be hardpressed to score a hundred points against this lineup

If Dean Wade is a crucial member of this Cavs team then we might as well start our rebuild now.
His 3 pt shooting is streaky but he's cold much more than he's hot.
He virtually has no inside game.
His defense is serviceable but he's more of a big than a swing man. His footwork is too slow to defend a 2 or a 3 but he's undersized to defend the 4.
The Cavs need a better fit. Wade should not be one of the first guys off the bench.
