‘LEGENDARY’ 🗣️ Danny Green says Masai Ujiri meant ‘everything’ to the Raptors | NBA Today
jacob in Toronto after a 13-year run that included a championship in 2019 with this man here to my left
and a major impact to the global game messiah Yajiri is out as Raptors president and vice chairman yajiri was entering the final year of his contract so let’s bring in the man who broke the story this morning our senior NBA insider Sham Shirania so Shams what’s behind this decision in Toronto george this is a byproduct of new leadership at Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment the conglomerate that owns the Toronto Raptors and they have been evaluating all of their presidents over the last several months just a month ago they fired the NHL president for the Maple Leafs Brandon Shanahan and that same decision was made here a month later by letting Messiah Yujiri go the timing certainly a surprise a day after the NBA draft when Messiah Jiri was just congratulating their first round pick the other day and he was under a contract for another season at $15 million but the Raptors intend to move on from that 13 years the 2019 championship as well he’d become a staple there in the community um but over last three years they failed to miss the playoffs and now they will have a full president search for the Raptors all right Shams thank you so much as always for the information and the intel our senior NBA insider Sham Shirani all right
Danny you were acquired by Messiah when they brought Kawawaii in and you guys won the champion
the other guy 2019 you were a pretty big deal too though don’t don’t get it twisted all right what did Messiah mean to this franchise everything you know nothing short of legendary what he’s done for the country of Canada and all the players the coaches they all loved him you know he was great uh within in that aspect of the game or that respect of it and he was one of the best to recruit people there you know and that’s why I’m so say so shocked but more shocked the fact that they didn’t give him an opportunity the guy like Giannis might be on the market he is a guy that can bring in a Giannis Antmpo he obviously done some legendary things in the NBA Africa you know basketball without borders he’s done so many things around the world not just in Canada but in the whole sport of the NBA and of basketball world he’s meant a lot to you know not just the the country of Canada but Africa United States everywhere mai he’s going to be a guy that’s going to be picked up very quickly I assume and he’s meant the world to said the Toronto Raptors and to me who have be able to win a championship with him
yeah certainly interesting times in Toronto and what I’ll say is to your point not only is he gonna have an opportunity to kind of figure it out quickly if he wants to but he’s gonna have to pick of the litter I think in that situ [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause]
On NBA Today, Shams Charania discusses Masai Ujiri being out as the Toronto Raptors President and then Danny Green talks Ujiri’s legacy.

Great point by Danny that this pokes holes in any plans to get Giannis
Aubrey found out that Masai is a Kendrick fan…the rest is history. 😂
Hes worth alot yea His first year wasn't as expected but the man did take us to the playoffs 7 years in a row and in Scottie's first rookie year he did take us to the playoffs and that was a we did win a ring we were to 2 Eastern conference finals And help us get 2 coaches of the year so its enough to say he left on good terms
Now on the other hand its absurd he couldnt renew his contract and this is what happens when u have an ownership that only cares about their hockey team more than all he other sports they own
Raptors need new owners
This is the biggest mistake in the history of Canadian sports history ,and because of this mistake Toronto Raptors will never ever wins another NBA championship, because they don't know what they are doing when it comes to great basketball players, alot of basketball sports organizations is anxious to get Masi ,Toronto will no longer be a basketball force to contend with after his exit from we the north
Rogers is a great fool
Well here goes my days of making fun of poverty franchises and the knicks cause we're in purgatory, we're in Canada we have 75 wings no pg no real center and no bench it's sad in Toronto and NO NO scottie barnes is not the franchise..BLOW IT UP
Toronto it's not too late , Bring Masai back and apologize to him. You're not gonna get anything better. Boycott Rogers
As a raptors fan, born and raised in Toronto I can say Roger's has fucked us again.
We already miss Masai. The raptors were always a complete joke before Colangelo and Masai.
This is completely unacceptable. Thank you Masai, Toronto will always love you and hate Roger's.
Prior to Masai Ujiri I wasn’t even a basketball fan. I played in grade school, high school and for fun but to follow it was not really anything I was interested in. Masai brought passion, desire and commitment not only to winning but to the people of Toronto and the rest of Canada. Every single person Masai interacted with is better off because of him. As Danny said in his comments, Masai can recruit! How many top tier players chose Toronto before him? None! Giannis is coming up and is Toronto an option, who knows. It isn’t anymore because Masai was the gravitational pull that brought players in. He also, took the time to educate them on the beauty of Canada and Toronto. Masai, class act, Champion and best sports franchise leader Toronto has known. You don’t need luck when you are as good as Masai, just keep being you Masai! Go get’em 👍
Can Shams read beyond a second grade level?
1 Corinthians 15:1-4
King James Version
15 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
In masai we trust. RAPTORS IN 6IX.
I will cut my rogers mobile plan
Thanks to Masai for helping bring a championship in Toronto. The years after the title, they're have been many questionable decisions. Not resigning Ibaka, letting Fred go to free agency without any compensation. Bad draft picks other than Scottie and Gradey for the last few years. This team does need a leadership change, all love to Masai but this is what has to happen.

The problem is they don't want to pay him the money at all that's the problem
Does he get the 15 million dollars in the contract?
Masai is a legend in Toronto Today and Forever. He made the impossible possible. He made a city and entire country believe our team could win the NBA Championship and then actually did it.
Raptors Ownership is so cheap. Masai just became too expensive to keep around and now they'll are looking to hire the Temu version of Masai.
Very stupid business decision eh!
Ffs
Thank god
