and welcome you are locked on to the Dallas Mavericks your team every day my name is Nick Angad medium member covering the Dallas Mavericks for 10 years thanks for being every day or making locked on Mavs your first listen each and every day today’s episode is brought to you by FanDuel right now new customers can get $150 in bonus bets on your first $5 bet wins joining me as always my co-host medium member come from the master for 10 years right alongside me the free agency delayed dude the one more thinking what you got for me Isaac Harris here we are baby it’s free agency day it’s so much fun even though it was a little weird like it started off and it was like everybody’s kind of looking at each other online without seeing each other and like
everybody going live was like what what are we talking about now like so what do you want to do
there was a point in Slightly stream where he got to 30 minutes he goes “It’s been 30 minutes nothing has happened.” He was like all upset i think since the league has like put the foot down on some tampering stuff over the past few years I think a lot of these teams are in a staring match with each other uh that’s like well I don’t want to be first well I don’t I don’t want to be first and
teams have lost draft picks like multiple draft picks
because of tampering i mean the Knicks and others
but is you know teams of course all waited to talk to the players and agents right at
first the first report we got was a Chris Haynes announcement that the Kings were uh planning a Zoom meeting with Russell Westbrook and Dennis Schruder so that was the first the first news we got was they’re going to start talking okay
zoom Zoom updates
today’s episode we’re going to get into what Daniel Russell brings to the Mavericks what we think about the deal and what we think about Russell coming to the Mavericks and so we’ll talk about all that we’ll get into also our thoughts about the rest of what happened in free agencies a shifting of power between the east and the west which teams did well which teams didn’t all that
it had it shifted a while ago well let’s start here the Dallas Mavericks now signed D’Angelo Russell or reportedly according to Shamronia Mark Stein Grant Asf uh Christian Clark every anybody connected to the Mavericks has reported that D’Angelo Russell is going to the Mavericks the worst kept secret that you could have and the Mavericks have no more roster spots as of right now if they’re going to do another move they have to do something else they have to make something else happen and as of right now Isaac this is what the Mavs roster will look like with Kyrie Irving in the in the on the IR right now deangel Russell starting if if Jason Kidd is to be believed Cooper Flag starting at at the next guard spot PJ Washington Anthony Davis Derek Lively starting and then the bench is pretty stacked as of right now you got Brandon Williams Klay Thompson Caleb Martin Naji Marshall Daniel Gaffford Max Christie and then you’ve got your Jaden Hardy Omax Prosper Dwight Powell and the two-way guys coming off your bench there to round it all out there but the roster is pretty set right now unless the Mavs make decide to make another move
yeah it it’s set as far as like hey there 15 guys that’s as much most you can bring on the team and then plus your two-way guys so they have two of the three spots for the two-way contracts filled so they have one two-way spot open right now but I think they’re still missing the move left is I think they’re still missing another ball handler especially with Kyrie being out now you have D’Angelo Russell you have Brandon Williams i think you’re still missing one other dude and uh unfortunately I think that’s where you’re gonna see some type of move to probably uh shed uh and swap out for uh his roster spot uh out for another ball handler maybe it’s Dante Exom maybe it’s another guy um but that’s what I expect sometime at at some point but with them signing D’Angelo Russell to the tax mid level uh it’s a 2-year deal up to $13 million second year on that’s a player option but since they use that exception it does cap them at the second apron so they can’t go above the second apron again no any circumstance they can’t go above it now so they can’t be a second apron team now so for them they have one point the oh the only way that they could do they could really do that is if they made a trade and brought back brought back more money and and did something like that it’d be it’d be kind of hard because there’s no way they can sign more more guys at this point but
they can’t but it’s Bobby Mark said is $1.6 million under I don’t know understand both my kids were in their room for bedtime
just they’re floating heads behind each of your shoulder right now
i know my wife is obviously still gone um but
they’re $1.6 $6 million under the second that that capped second April number that’s not enough for a minimum contract so even if they had a contract spot open they would have to like shed money to be able to offer a minimum contract so they’re literally climbing up on the chair
they’re climbing on you i’m making faces at him go put them to bed i I’ll hold I’ll hold down the for
Yeah hold it down real quick the M the Mavs now the Mavs now uh to make another move which what which you mentioned it would probably be probably be dumping Omax’s deal in in some way Isaac’s yelling yelling at his kids I’m going to go solo here real quick instead of his kids to bed so funny and they would dump Omax and then they would bring in Dante Exom is the name that has been mentioned with the Mavericks a couple times and to me that is what’s needed Trey Man is another name that has been mentioned today because the Hornets didn’t extend the qualifying offer to him they didn’t decide to keep him and some a lot of you especially on the text line have mentioned to me “What about Trey Man what about Trey Man?” Trey Man’s kind of interesting he’s a 6-3 guard definitely a bucket getter definitely somebody that could uh could help the Mavericks with scoring off the bench if I had to choose specifically between Jaden Hardy and Trey man like if that was my only choice I think I would I would try it with Trey Man and see and see and see what happens there that’s not the choice the Mavericks have right now and so if the Mavs were able to dump Omax’s contract if that’s what they decide to do and bring in somebody I would want Dante Exom instead of Trey Man because they need somebody solid and steady because if you think about it think about the Mavs ball handlers right now you’ve got Daniel Russell who can do a lot can can produce for you but it’s been a shaky decisionmaker especially in the playoffs at times then you have Brandon Williams who’s really only been in the rotation for an NBA team for 17 games the end of last season and it was like March April basketball which is not always considered real basketball then you have an 18-year-old Cooper flag okay prone like rookie prone to make mistakes he’s probably not going to make a ton but still and then you would have Trey man who’s like you know bucket getter and a little erratic too and wasn’t wasn’t kept by the Hornets so I don’t think you can go
and about to be bought out Cole Anthony
that that could be one of your options too but I would rather go with a Cole Anthony or Dante Exom to be a little bit more steady you need somebody that’s steady in that to to bring in if things go haywire basically
i would be surprised if it wasn’t Exom xm just gives you a different look with that than what a DLO and a Brandon Williams would with that let’s go back
yeah in size let’s go back to DLO just for a second we’ve unless if this is like your first pod um that you haven’t heard us talk about Daniel Russell we’ve talked about him a lot over the weekend on yesterday’s podcast but I’m we’re both fans of this like I’m I’m a big fan of it um I think when you looked at what I’ve been trying to say is when you looked at the options for stop gap point guards for until Kyrie comes back for the price tag at that like $5 million mark I think what he’s good at with the passing and the shooting outweighs any of the other options strengths like Westbrook’s athleticism and you know getting into the paint and stuff i give me DL’s passing and shooting over that brogden had you know you could just go down the line even like a Tyus Jones like just keep on going i just I think sometimes we overthinking it a little bit i love the situation this is the least amount of money he’s going to make since his rookie season in a deal and he’s signing up for this so like he wants it he wants this opportunity and it’s the player option on the second year so like he knows that if he plays well and Dallas like love like loves him and it works out and all this stuff
he’s going to he can opt out at the end of the year and go get a bag next summer and get more money on top of that so he it has to work out for him and it’s a great situation there’s a lot of ties personal ties for him here in Dallas too so I love the situation i think it’s a great fit for him and I’m a believer in it i could eat my words on it but I I’m a believer in the fit
i believe in it too i believe what he brings is solid for the Dallas Mavericks and I think there’s one thing that people forget about when it comes to Duel Russell coming to the Mavericks that really puts it into perspective and I’ll tell you what that is coming up [Music] this episode of Lock Maps brought to you by FanDuel fanduel sports book has all kinds of props nods things that you can use to get in on the action and talk about some of these teams if you think a team did a lot better you can go and check out their uh like their Western Conference Finals odds or Western Conference odds the Cavs plus 310 to win the East knicks plus 310 they’re tied right now to win the East that one is interesting you’ve also got the Hawks they’ve been kind of sneaking up they’re plus 900 um the Sixers plus,00 they’ve they’ve dropped down here uh Celtics plus 950 they’ve they’ve sold off some of their guys but that one’s interesting magic plus 390 so they’re right up there with the Knicks and the Cavs that’s the East there’s a bunch of them for the the West as well plus 155 for the Thunder the Mavericks plus 2,000 they’re behind the Warriors Clippers Nuggets Lakers lakers plus 900 and Mavericks plus 2,000 makes no sense unless you know that it’s the Lakers and they always get a bump so check out FanDuel and when you do if you put down your first $5 bet you get $150 in bonus bets if that bet wins open the FanDuel app today or visit vanuel.com to get started fanduel official sportsbook partner of the NBA please gamble responsibly got it down
let’s go home thanks for hanging out with us unlock apps being part of the show part of the raccoon squad that’s what we call our listeners listening every day don’t send me an AI picture of raccoons they always make their hands really weird there’s always like something abnormal uncanny about them i don’t I don’t want I don’t want to see it we do want to We do want to hear from you on the text line though text us what you think about the D’Angelo Russell deal 214-6438637 send us a text let us know who you are and we’ll send you every single rumor that we hear every single rumor that we see and our thoughts right away the D’Angelo Russell stuff we had it right away sent you our thoughts and all that so 214 6438637 is the text line it helps support the show all right Isaac let’s just talk about D’Angel Russell and if you’ve never listened to the show or you don’t know who D’Angelo Russell is let’s just go over who he is right like let’s just let’s let’s talk about who he is so he’s a 6’3 guard 65 some some have said he was the number two pick in 2015 to the Lakers and he played with the Lakers for a little while then went to Brooklyn then bounced around to Golden State he was in Minnesota for a little while then he went back to the Lakers and then he went back to Brooklyn this past year and he kind of had a down year last year was kind of checked out i talked to Andy Camky locked on Lakers about him and said man he just wasn’t really he wasn’t really in it wasn’t really into the role and uh the you know like the Lakers benched him in the or you know didn’t play him that much in the playoffs and so he was worried about that and his shooting went down but he is a really good shooter career he’s a career 36% shooter from three 38% over the last four years if you don’t count last year and uh a great passer too 5.7 assists for his career and you know has averaged a lot of assists a good passer good passer good shooter he’s got a little bit of size crafty lefty as well he’ll come in and be the point guard he’ll fill in for Kyrie and uh let’s just start with the positives those are some of the positives about Daniel Russell yeah I mean that’s his that’s his main thing right him he comes out of Ohio State uh from Louisville Kentucky baby let’s go
and went to Ohio State
no he went to he went to Montg where where Cooper Flag also went um which side note he does a really cool cool camp back in Louisville called Camp DLO um he’s done it for a while now and he’s just always been all about the city of Louisville and stuff and always comes back there and people just speak super highly of him uh regarding his kind of investment to the city and coming back and always representing and stuff so anyway uh just had to throw that out there but for for DL you know it’s been all about offense for him right like running the offense um he’s a great passer like like you said great uh vision um and just such a he’s just like one of those like natural scorers like it like if you’re saying “Hey I’m gonna start up a proam game.” Like DLO is going to be one of your guys like he’s going to be able to put up like 50 in that game um so it’s all the offensive side that it makes a lot of sense and even like playing off the ball too like like you said he’s been a great three-point shooter up until you know last year even had some experience in Minnesota playing off Ricky Rubio uh to where he played the two guard uh for a couple years there a decent amount of the time so it you when you look at offense yes you can look at some of the ball movement stuff that oh he gets a little isofriendly at times or you know some of that but I just I’m a believer in the system and the in the situation that he’s going to come into that I I’m not as worried about the when when you’re looking at things and we could transition in this of what uh like you’re concerned about with DLO i’m not worried about the ball movement stopping with him i think he’s gonna fit into the system with that i think that’s he’s going to keep the ball going you have Anthony Davis Cooper flag Klay Thompson all these guys like I don’t think he’s gonna be isoing out and saying “Hey I got this all the time.” Not worried about that
some of the time maybe not hopefully not all the time but
Well I mean I think I think Yeah I think naturally it’s going to happen every now and then but you’re not I don’t He’s not stepping into the Luca role or the Kyrie role and saying you’re going to do exactly what they’re going to do i don’t buy that i am concerned about the defense of course like u that that’s something that I mean he has just been yeah that’s why you prioritize a sighting like this um I I am worried about the defense because he has been just brutal at times on on the defensive end and effort not there um I’m not and this is the one that I’m not as confident in but I will this is how I feel at the moment and I could get really this could really like cold takes here i’m not worried about the effort buy in from him i think he’s going to have that completely in Dallas but that contract here
i know but it’s like
I’m agreeing with you he’s in a contract yeah it’s just you just seen some of the stuff in the past where he hasn’t been as locked in and effort stuff like you said talking to the commit brothers and so it’s like but I just I think there’s going to be enough around him and then the situation for his contract and all the stuff i think I think we’re going to get a really good dowo first half of the season and I think it’s going to I’m gonna say it now i think his passing and his assist numbers is going to surprise a lot of people who don’t watch him play ball and I think that sentence is going to get used a lot over the next 24 hours and it’s going to drive me nuts people are going to say who are anti- DLO are going to say “Do you even watch have did you even watch him play?” Like “Yeah he has some like cool numbers but do you even watch him play ball?” Yes I’ve watched him play a good amount of basketball i get the flaws but I think people are gonna be surprised about the assist numbers he’s gonna have and how good of a passer he is i think he’s had some of his best years under solid coaches as well that believe in him like think about some of the coaches he’s played for in his career he played for Byron Scott when he was with the Lakers he played for Luke Walton he played for Darvin Ham he played for Ryan Saunders in Minnesota but but he had his best year under Kenny Atkinson in Brooklyn he had another one of his best years in Minnesota under Chris Finch and I think that with with Jason K I think that he will empower him and I think that that will be a really really good thing for him coming in as well i think solid coaching and just the bets around him he’s also has really good chemistry with Anthony Davis specifically that’s something that Andy Kinsky told me about too uh you also see Did you see the zodiac sign the person that ranks the zodiac sign connections between the two of them
zodiac I don’t rock with zodiac signs but
and uh what are you what’s your when’s your birthday i’m just kidding
i don’t rock with that uh and they said that the specific connection that’s really good is uh Daniel Russell and Anthony Davis so the stars are literally aligning for those two to re to reunite and uh but that’s I think another benefit because we were waiting for somebody to unlock Anthony Davis’s game and to run some pick and roll with him and to do some of that playmaking stuff and to set him up in a way the Mavs really didn’t have a player last year that could do that when Kyrie went out and D’Angel Russell comes in and does that
yeah don’t don’t look at some of the AD dload numbers um from you know two years ago or when last time they played cuz those don’t uh look the greatest i think some of the other parts and stuff with that’s going to be playing with them is going to look a lot different so that’s why I believe in it um yeah I just and even I mentioned this the other day i I think it’s crazy that it feels like when when DLo the phone taping thing with Nick Young his rookie season still gets like brought up to him it’s still like kind of attached every now and then and it’s like I’ve watched different He has a great podcast by the way on YouTube and um and where he’s had like Jared Dudley and AD and different people on there i watched him and Dudley talk the other day for like an hour and it was awesome uh it was a post Luca trade too so they were talking about some of that reaction and different things and him and Dudley great relationship they played together in Brooklyn which is kind of weird to think about um
please Jared Dudley stay
i know oh my god coach Dudley
i can’t lose my play pay Jared Dudley
pay
it’s kind of it’s kind of on them
uh but no so he has a he has a lot of connections with Kyrie and stuff too i just in these different interviews different things I he’s he’s talked about and referenced himself about how young and dumb he was uh when he first came into the league and um how he’s grown up since then and matured and stuff since then so I think it’s a little unfair to hold that you know to him or attached to him so just some people’s thrown that out man locker room guy like come on like that was a long time ago
10 years ago uh so
he was drafted in 2015 so it was legitimately 10 years ago the thing the thing about D’Angel Russell I think some people forget about that I mentioned earlier he’s only going to have to really be the match starting point guard for like 50 games before Kyrie comes back
and you’re not putting him in a position where he’s your only he’s your only ball handler he’s your only guy that that’s making plays either because Jason G talked about doing it by committee cooper Flag’s going to run some plays you got Naji Marshall can can run some you got Max Christie can do a little obviously Anthony Davis is going to have some plays drawn up for him klay Thompson have some plays drawn up for him it’s going to be a little bit of a a committee offense it’s not D’Angelo Russell sliding into the Kyrie role the Luca you know the former Luca offense it’s not that and I think that if his role is a little bit lessened and not what we’ve seen from him in the past I think that that’s a better version of D’Angelo Russell coming up let’s get into the rest of free agency what moves actually affect the Mavericks we’ve got a couple and the Rockets rockets are doing some things we’ll get into that more coming up all [Music] right Isaac we’re talking about NBA free agency first day first day NBA free agency where teams can actually talk to other players from other teams the Mavs get D’Angelo Russell reportedly and we’re waiting to see if they’ll make another move but a bunch of moves were made across the NBA including let’s start with the Houston Rockets because I think they made some some big moves to Well let’s start with the Denver Nuggets actually because I think they made the biggest move is the uh they traded Michael Porter Jr for to the Brooklyn Nets for Cam Johnson brooklyn also gets a 2032 first round pick that is going to be a good pick probably for them but the swap of Michael Bord Jr and Cam Johnson does more for the Nuggets than just get them Cam Johnson for Michael Porter Jr it also opens up their full non-T taxpayer ML so they have $14 million to offer somebody else now which I think is a big deal for them yeah I thought you know I think for me one of the stunts of the night uh this first night of free agency is just a lot of these West teams just slowly starting to get a little better here and there and with Denver they were in a weird spot last year but like you said like I love Cam Johnson i think he’s he’s going to feast on these three-point shots playing with Joic and Murray and and Aaron Gordon and stuff so I think that’s going to be great for him i think he’s going to be a great fit they’re going to get Bruce Brown back on like a minimum deal while still keeping that 14 mil exception open they’re going to bring one or two guys back or in with that exception so uh they’re going to be a little bit deeper which is what they needed to be and so they’re going to be scary it’s it’s it’s like them they took a step tonight i think you look at Houston and you look at the Kevin Durant trade and then it’s like all these other moves and stuff that they make of keeping Jabari um locked in they traded for Dor you know they or they signed Dorian Infinity Smith our guy they signed Clint Capella and it’s like all right y’all just keep on getting better i just I’ve I’ve loved their off season i think they’re just hitting it out of the park and they still have so many of the pieces to go after the big trade too if they wanted to whether it’s LeBron or probably at Giannis that would be nuts but yeah you look at what the Rockets have right now probably starting like Fred Banle Aman Thompson Kevin Durant Jabari Smith Jr Alber Jangon then you got a bench with Tari E Dorian Steven Adams Clint Capella Jan Tate Cam Whitmore Reed Shepard but they’ve got they’ve got a pretty pretty deep team plus a topheavy team as well on there rockets have definitely gotten better and that’s one that I look at and go man they are they do still have picks and they have Ken Whitmore Reed Shepard Tar Een like some younger players you could send in a trade too that man like that that’s scary
they’re just starting to I just think that they’ve solidified that I love my tears here um that when you have OKC and tier one I think they’re starting to solidify themselves as tier two and like like pushing for me i think they’re starting
Denver
yeah they’re like moving themselves up from that next group and then it’s Yeah Denver obviously got better
spurs getting Cornet was an improvement i don’t think it pushes them up to I’m just talking about teams that are
but the Fox move from last year they didn’t really get a lot of Fox and Webby so Dylan Harour’s good like he’s gonna come off the bench so you know that they did get better with that um adding Carter Bryant too i thought they had a great draft
so they’re gonna be better this year
i think personally I think Portland got better with Drew um now I don’t think it pushes them up to like the top six and stuff but like if we’re just talking about teams that got better I think Portland did get better adding adding Drew and is it weird that I think the Suns got better even though they lost Durant yeah it’s very weird
okay
what What did they do to get better who are the Who are the players they brought in that are
I don’t know i just I just feel like the combination of Green Brooks Malawatch Mark Williams um Rashier Fleming like it just so many of the stuff didn’t work last year and so many of the like was just
they got deeper
yeah they got deeper but maybe they’re a to be determined team but I think when you look at when you’re in the mouse seat and you’re a win now team the biggest thing I’m always looking at is who are the top six teams in the conference
you’re fighting for the top six ever since they created the participation tournament there with the playin now it’s it’s not the top eight it’s the top six they can avoid that whole tournament who’s in that top six you’re locked in with OKC you’re locked in with Houston you’re locked in with Denver so what’s the other three spots minnesota loses Nicole Alexander Walker it there’s not I mean they’re kind of banking on some like internal improvement so far right now in free agency so they’re kind of like a to be determined what’s going to happen with the Lakers i mean the Lakers are kind of a at this very moment the Lakers are a mess cuz you look at what they have and it’s Luca Reeves LeBron Ruie and Maxi that’s like their starting five probably now there’s a lot of rumors that they could get Aidton eightton’s got the same agent as Luca and
Lavia just got
bringing LeBron back
then they’ve got Gabe Vincent Dalton Connect Jake Loravia Jared Vanderbelt the Abdu Theierro guy that they drafted Jordan Goodwin Shake Milton Bronny James
yeah I really like the by the way
athletic guy but like that that’s um that’s a mess of a team right now and LeBron doing his whole we’ve got to get better thing i want to win titles kind of kind of deal in the in the media too yeah he’s doing his crap um
they they lost lost Dorian for Jake Larabia right as of right now could be a move there but
yeah the Grizzlies are to be determined like where are they at they lose Desmond Bane they add Ty Jerome and KCP basically since they’re probably going to buy out um
you know Cole Anthony and stuff so I I feel like that that is a downgrade from Desmond Bane i think Desmond Bane’s pretty good so but so they’re kind of like a weird thing i don’t know what to think of the Clippers the Grizzlies they the Grizzlies added more depth which was like not their problem before too right like they they took Desmond Bane and spread him out into a couple players you’re like “Okay you already had too many guys that you couldn’t figure out how to play last year.” And then health is obviously their their big thing but yeah great yeah so like the Clippers adding Brook Lopez probably Chris Paul and then it’s like “All right I guess they got better.” I mean there’s
I think I think they did i think if they do get Chris Paul I think that adds another playmaker that they didn’t
definitely the oldest team in the league right
for sure and it’s obviously all going to be up to health brook Lopez kind of adds a sneaky like shooting big option that they haven’t had in a long time
yeah true i mean he’s better than what their backup bigs were before so I I say that to say like I think there’s only like three teams there outside i’m not even talking about Dallas that when you’re looking across the board right now in the West and you’re like “All right who am I like fighting for um for one of those top six spots I don’t see how you can’t have Dallas in the top six right now?” So just with everything considered I I just I think they’re you can’t tell you can’t convince me right now that like Golden State the Clippers Grizzlies Lakers you can’t convince me all those teams are for sure ahead of them i I think Dallas is in that three to you know three to six range in the West right now between the Lakers the Warriors and like the Mavs would you rather have no centers or no guards no centers you need guards
well the Mavs are the ones with no guards and they have all centers the Lakers but the Lakers and Warriors don’t have any centers warriors lost Kavon Looney lakers didn’t have any centers anyway and Jackson Hayes doesn’t look like he’s coming back you’d have to be really high on the Spurs really high on the Clippers abil you know health the Lakers you think that they’ve got to move up their sleeve maybe the Timberwolves to do something too for you to really think the Mavs are outside that top six
i mean the thing for the Lakers though is like you’ve seen like does Luca bring a floor right like we’ve seen Luca do this before where he takes some rosters and there’s like a there is a floor for a Luca team that they’re not going to go beneath this amount of wins especially I mean are we going to get a stairs a stairs running shot of Luca and Slovenia we’ve seen Luca teams miss the playin okay well but okay
i’m I’m just saying and whenever LeBron’s like PR crap’s done we’ll see what happens with that but
well you know they’re both going to miss games which same thing for the Mavs guys kyrie’s already going to miss a bunch of games
um is it bad for Joe Dumar that we haven’t mentioned the Pelicans one time this whole conversation
dude I just tweeted this out because I was going through every single roster right now shout out to Spottrack who puts those like updated rosters in so fast guys if you haven’t just go look at New Orleans’s roster it’s one of the most entertaining like sign me up for that hard knocks like like the whole thing with the Pelicans consider everything the personalities off the court stuff on the court stuff all of it and you’re like how is this all on one team i don’t know how any how how this is going to fit
you obviously have Zion okay you have uh Jordan P you bring in you got Deonte Murray another another like personality jordan Pool personality
you’re bringing in Derek Queen that that’s a personality too
and it’s him and Jeremiah fears though i mean these are two like lottery type that you’re bringing in that are high draft picks and that you’ve invested into it with fears and stuff too but no keep going there’s other people
yeah you got Trey Murphy you’re bringing in Kavon Looney now looney and Pool getting reunited looney barely talks anyway and Looney is going to come in as the adult in the room like what is going
I just left Golden State for
Oh and then Herb Herb Jones is going to sit in the corner silently just the I don’t know what he’s Yeah you got these two wings and Herb Jones and Trey Murphy you you still have Alvarado who’s like “Hey can I still do my like sneak up on people trick is that still available?” Uh it’s just like a what a interesting roster they have and uh yeah so anyway less teams are
if they got better
i don’t know i don’t know brandon Gum Zion like TJ McCollum days
i have them in my Yeah my to be determined of what what is this what what is going on here but it’ll at least be fun they’re definitely going to be in my leaked league pass top five like they are a lock for that but no it’s it’s a good night for Dallas they needed to a stop gap point guard uh to fill in for Kyrie once it felt like hey they’re probably not going to go swing in for a trade for a bigger guard like a Kobe White or someone like that this is the next best option if Chris Paul is not going to come here
in free agency you go out you take the swing on a D’Angelo Russell and say “Hey we’ll take the value of DLO at $5.5 million for the next two years.” And I think it’s a great move for Dallas they got they got their guy for that now we’ll see if they do a smaller move to open up a roster spot for another ball handler
that’s what we’re waiting for we’ll have it here for you on Locked on Mavs subscribe to the text line to get it first before anybody check the link in the description 2146438637 thanks much for listening lock on maps peace out boom

  1. Oh man. 🤦🏼‍♂️ I thought we wanted to be a serious team with a DEFENSIVE MINDSET. Wasn’t that the entire point of trading away Luka..?!

  2. For everyone saying we could not have done better: Tyus Jones costs 7 Mio per year, shot over 40% in threes and hardly turns the ball over. This would have been so much better. Heck, I even would have preferred Tre Jones at 8 Mio per year.

  3. I’m not sure why they are still holding to Dwight Powell. Drop humans bring in Exum. What am I missing? 😂

  4. Why you always try to push your own wishes??? Locked on Mavs my ass. Klay will never start from the bench get that straight you assholes

  5. We have a player in the G-League who is a bonafide point guard and shot creator in, JAZIAN GORTMAN. Why in the HELL aren’t we giving this guy a legitimate chance to run this offense!!!???

  6. Here’s how the Mav’s roster should look.

    Starters
    Kyrie
    Klay
    Cooper
    AD
    Gafford.

    Immediate backup
    DLO
    Max Christie
    Naji
    Pj
    Lively

    Backups
    Williams
    Hardy
    Martin
    Edwards
    Powell

  7. Him and Klay did a run together a few weeks ago on the same team. Looked good, Klay was knocking them down.

  8. Arguing that D'Angelo is "good" when he has "Solid Coaches" while totally ignoring his time at Golden State. So bruh here thinks that Steve Kerr isn't as "Solid Coaches" as 2019 Kenny Atkinson or Chris Finch? OK check that bruh. Man Mavs fan really REACHING to convince themselves Russell is the ANSWER. LOL "top 6" Lol Steve Kerr Multi Time NBA Champ as HC as a Player and coaching an Olympic Gold Medal Winning team, JUST ISNT SOLID enough to make "Mature" D'Angelo Russel GO. LOL

  9. None of you are True Mavericks fans if you're ok with them trading Doncic after he single Handedly took them to The Finals.

  10. You don't get a former all star PG still in his 20s for $6M unless there are some flaws. This is especially true without major health concerns. For a taxpayer MLE beggars can't be choosers and this is very much so a buy low, low risk high reward situation. I expect he will be very frustrating at times but this was the right move for the money. We can still make a trade for a better guard using our excess frontcourt depth.

  11. Can’t lose omax! He’s a future core piece after these older guys leave. Developing player, great person. You don’t cut guys like that!!!

  12. Actually his defense went up a bit before the trade today Brooklyn. Plus JJ didn't like his game.. Dude can play his interaction with the fans

  13. As a Lakers fan who watches because of AD and Christie, D’Lo is fun as hell to watch and root for but he can also be frustrating. I wish him the best!
