The Real Reason The Houston Rockets Traded For Kevin Durant!
the Houston Rockers made one of the biggest blockbuster moves of this off seasonason so far and they went ahead and got Kevin Durant from the Phoenix Suns in exchange for Jaylen Green Dylan Brooks and the 10th overall pick which the Suns used on Kaman Malawatch and five second round picks and I know I’ve made a video on Durant specifically why I think trading for Kevin Durant is a team killing move because you’re trading away the majority of your roster along with picks for a 37year-old aging star who has consistently been exited from the second round often been questioned if he can be the main exclusive guy to win a championship with the Rockets clearly decided to take this risk to really make a run at a championship given how they won over 50 games last season and were the second seed in the tough Western Conference and were one game away from winning their first playoff series since 2020 the biggest elephant in the room as far as the team getting held back was Jaylen Green as I said in my previous video the guy has struggled to be a consistent scoring option on the team and in the first round he had four games where he scored single digits and was benched for the whole fourth quarter at certain games against Golden State looking at the cash space they are projected to spend over 190 million in addition of Jaylen Green and Seun’s contract in the offseason to the front office they simply can’t afford to be in this position if they kept Green in the roster because it isn’t worth spending $190 million just for Jaylen Green to underperform time in and time and again despite Jabari Smith Jr amen Thompson Tyreek is Een and Alfren Aigu maximizing the contract that they are in right now so they decided to ship him off along with Dylan Brooks who has struggled in that Warrior series for Kevin Durant if I’m being honest this is a great trade and the real reason why is that they did not give up so much for KD that is one of my biggest concerns in my previous video and that is teams giving up a overhaul for Kevin Durant but that didn’t happen for the Rockets you off a guy in Jaylen Green who is not progressing let alone producing to expectations and a role player and just one lottery pick and five second rounders for Kevin Durant and you still got the Suns future first rounders you still have Amen Thompson Seun Van Fleet Een Resign Adams you resigned Jason Tate and alongside Jeff Green two vital veteran players for this roster you still got Ree Shepard Ken Whitmore with in which the front office are planning to ship off even though I don’t even know why they would do that even though they traded away Jaylen Green and Dylan Brooks and which means more rotational minutes and now you added a guy in Kevin Durant who is still a very efficient 27 point per game score along with another shooting touch that will give the Rockets more spacing and easier buckets for MN and Sigun to score the Rockets are in such a great position because they don’t have to worry if this Kevin Durant experiment does not pan out because they will still have their young core along with their picks of the future for Kevin Durant’s case this might be the best team that he’s been on as far as fit the surrounding pieces along with the depth Houston has besides Golden State kevin Durant throughout his career he always thrived with great defensive players around him you take a look back in his OKC days where he was surrounded with guys like Sergey Ibaka who was a versatile strong defender from the post andre Robersonson who was an alldefensive level player dabos Sealosa was also a great perimeter defender and then at Golden State he was obviously surrounded with guys like Draymond Green who in KD’s first year there was the defensive player of the year he also had a prime Clay who was an alldefensive level perimeter defender and also had Andre Iguodala now in Houston he has Amen Thompson who was selected first team all defense in just his second year zangun is a great post defender kyrie Een is also a great defender and they also have EA Odoka who is a defensive mastermind who last year had a top five defense specifically the best zone defense in the NBA one of the things that we as fans need to cut KD some slack is that he never really had uh consistent great defenders around him at the level of a OKC and of course Golden State so much so that he had to take on the load on defense especially guarding the best player on the opposing team and and that threw his game off a tad bit because he can’t really get into his transition game that often and he will be an easy target for the opposing team now I’m not cutting a law sack for his shitty performances in the playoffs while have Brooklyn and in Phoenix but still the guy never really had consistent great defenders around him to alleviate the load off of him and now with Houston he has the guys that can take the load off of him defensively now offensively there are some concerns of him playing iso ball in this offense obviously he was brought in to get this team more buckets but the Rockets are best when they’re playing a set offense meaning they make a lot of cuts screen setting off the ball movement and that’s why the Rockets offense were able to get be good enough to compete with Golden State in the playoffs that along with their stellar defense i feel like Kevin Durant in this offense will need to play more off ball and be more of a set player on this offense to really maximize the production for this team of course Durant iso ball especially in crushdown is much needed and one of the major reasons why the Rockets got him in the first place is to beat that consistent score in the clutch and that will ultimately put Houston over the top and plus Fran Van Vleet and Shigun being great playmakers themselves also running that double big lineup with Shigun and Adams i believe KD will have one of the most efficient scoring seasons of his career with the pieces that he has now which leads me to another thing that I want to say to Kevin Durant and that is this is his last chance to win a championship his window as far as playing at an elite level is short and he needs to capitalize with this roster because this is a team that fits Kevin Drift’s play style better than any other team he’s been besides Golden State he has the opportunity to rewrite his legacy and to prove to the whole league that not only he can win without Curry but win without a super team around him and that will be a great ending to his career especially given how ugly his tenure was with Brooklyn and in Phoenix i feel like a championship to Houston will redeem him as a respected legend in history despite his decision to go to Golden State and winning two irrelevant rings this ring that he can really bring to the city of Houston can really boost his legacy given the turmoil that he put himself into but anyways I do think that Houston is now a championship contender they didn’t give up too much to get KD and now they are the biggest threats to OKC and of course the Rockets are not finished adding more pieces to the roster but so far the Rockets are the biggest winners of the offseason and they are primed to be among the teams that can compete for a championship and that is the video let me know in the comment section below on
