This is a STEAL for the Magic…
this was a steal for the Orlando Magic or at the very least it is going to turn out way better than we thought they came in with a plan they got one of their guys and they made a deal in the second round we’re going to be talking about the 2025 NBA draft for the Orlando Magic who exactly are these guys and where are they headed potentially in the off season but first guys welcome into Magic Digest as always I’m your host Patrick Previty make sure that you guys subscribe to the channel this is your onestop shop for Orlando Magic basketball content here on YouTube and I did also kind of want to make a little bit of an announcement and another bit of thank you uh yesterday was the 1year anniversary of when this channel was uh first on YouTube so I appreciate you guys so much right now we’re at 1,288 subs going strong hopefully that number does not go down by the time you see this but I appreciate you guys subscribing to the channel it is the easiest and best way to support us here at Magic Digest so let’s get into exactly who were these players we’re going to start first with Jace Richardson this is somebody that I’ve I’ve highlighted uh prior to the NBA draft he was getting mocked to the Magic for a while there it was him or Walter Clayton Jr back and forth back and forth i made videos on both of those guys obviously Walter Clayton Jr looked like he wanted to play for the Miami Heat ended up going to the Utah Jazz maybe the same story as uh Ace Bailey for the 2025 NBA draft so he is not going to be on the Orlando Magic obviously I think if they had the number 16th pick I think they probably would have just stayed put right there and taken Walter Clayton Jr but uh they clearly didn’t feel as strongly about him or they just needed to include it in the Desmond Bane trade and I think that they’re very happy with Jace Richardson jace Richardson somebody who can create and playmake and that’s exactly what he did at Michigan State he took on a bigger role as the season went on and he was obviously a legacy his father being in the NBA for I believe it was around 14 years he was uh somebody you know kind of that we think that he can fill that Cole Anthony role now I saw a lot of uh different kind of comparisons uh between him and Cole Anthony like he is that replacement they don’t really have the same exact game i feel like he’s Jayce Richardson’s a little bit more dynamic of a player especially coming out of college like Jace Richardson led Michigan State last year so I definitely think that there’s some upside there but we’re not asking him to do a lot and I think pairing him with a couple of really dynamic wings will certainly help his game flourish he’s still going to have to figure some stuff out some of his comparisons are not the same as Cole Anthony as far as him uh projecting to the NBA but he’s a dynamic scorer and a guy who can shoot and I definitely think that that’s somebody that can play on this Orlando Magic team we I talked about this a little bit in the last video that I made especially about Walter Clay Jr where uh this guard rotation is a little bit thinner now uh because they’ve kind of offloaded like a handful of guards and it’s going to just kind of be Anthony Black and Jaylen Suggs and maybe like one other guy in the rotation that we’ve seen before so Jace Richardson might slot in and be able to play some really good minutes for this team next year i don’t know how much he’ll play because Tristan Dilva was dynamic and I’m assuming he’s going to get more minutes so I don’t know jamal Mosley is also a little bit more you got to prove it kind of kind of coach a little bit old older style with him uh as far as that’s concerned so he might not get a ton of run but certainly I like the pick i’m I’m rooting for him as an Orlando Magic fan and I I think it’s good to kind of invest uh in a player like Jace Richardson because I think that there’s some upside there now uh in the second round they obviously made that trade with the Boston Celtics and we’re kind of seeing how much they’ve given up from this Desmond Bane deal uh in this off season and what they are planning to do they ended up getting Noah Penda um and obviously the Celtics made that pick and he’s going to the Orlando Magic and then at the end of the second round uh the Magic made the Celtics pick for them so it’s just those two guys coming into Orlando uh from this Desmond Bane trade they’ve traded four firsts and given up a pick swap and dealt four second round picks for Bane and Penda so that is what that trade ends up coming out as uh the Magic now in the future will hold four first round picks and nine second round picks over the next seven years and they will not be able to trade any of their first round picks until 2030 because of that rule that just states that you need to make a first round pick or first round selection in uh one of two years so you know every other year essentially you need to make that it’s a kind of the uh the don’t end up trading like the Brooklyn Nets deal but I definitely think that there’s some really good uh things about Noapenda that can be useful to this team obviously drafting another wing where does he fit maybe you would have liked to see a front court scorer but this is the second round you’re trying to swing for the fences and I think you’re getting a guy with some decent upside i’m going to go more into what exactly Penda or who exactly he can be uh for this Magic team in the future maybe he he probably spends some time in the G-League just as we’ve seen but hopefully he doesn’t get lost in it uh I think the wing rotation right now is pretty much set obviously with Ben Carro and uh Fron but I think with the rise of Tristan Dilva last year we’re not going to see him too much and with this team clearly moving into the win now mode all right let’s get into exactly where this team can go in the future look the Magic uh have 14 players on the roster essentially because they’ve got Mo Vagner and and Caleb Houston on team options they’re probably going to uh decline those to get their midlevel exception to get access to it but I definitely think both of those guys are going to be back specifically Mo Vagner because I don’t see any sort of scenario where he’s not back he’s just in a different scenario right now because he is obviously coming off of a tearing his ACL so they’re going to try to redo that deal it was team friendly as it was uh when he did sign but they’re going to probably decline his team option and then bring him back and I think they’re going to try to do the same thing with Caleb Houston but they’re still kind of weighing their options i definitely could see somebody in the front court i I I remember talking a lot about it being Wendell Carter Jr last off seasonason you know based off of the reports I think it’s going to be Jonathan Isaac although if I had to choose in the front court you know we don’t have or you know I don’t and when I say front court I’m just talking about from the center position we don’t really have a ton of reliable scoring i I think Moagner is going to be ready for the start of this season maybe i mean so he’s he’s really good scoring from the center position but where exactly are we getting the the defense from i like what Bataz can potentially bring but you know Jonathan Isaac really fits this defensive identity and I remember saying “Hey we if we have to give up some defense to get some offense let’s do it.” Um but it seems like that’s been a little bit of an overhaul for this team as of as of late and I’m almost like maybe we choose to part with Betaz or Wendo Carter Jr and we kind of roll with Mo Vagner and Jonathan Isaac i’m really interested if you guys think or what combination of those guys you think is best for this Magic team uh I certainly want to see more than just two back i I think three out of the four is is the key there and then maybe just giving up one of them is probably the best and you know trying to add some flexibility to this team but obviously some different uh quotes and stuff like that coming around from Jeff Welman and the front office and what they like and what they’re seeing obviously they’re kind of building up and propping up some of the rookies but I certainly think and and I’m buying it i certainly think that they could potentially be really really good impact players but that’s kind of where this team is at right now obviously uh there’s been a lot of different talk brad Stevens came out about about this like uh I believe this was yesterday talking about the Second Apron and everything like that this is something that teams are definitely trying to avoid and the magic included because obviously this uh this Paula Ben Carro contract is going to be we’re going to give him the max deal that he can get paid he’s going to sign that and now we have zero flexibility like now we have four guys under contract over 30 million a year for for them being Bane Vagner and Beno and Suggs so So this team is going to certainly have to be smart as far as their role players are concerned but uh certainly um keeping this video a little bit shorter uh definitely want to dive a little bit more into Jace Richardson after also having made that video plus what I said in today’s video but uh going to go into Penda as well probably sometime tomorrow but now the stage is set this this off seasonason is looking pretty good for the Orlando Magic i’m liking some of the moves that they’ve done so far and they certainly seem aggressive and like they’re trying to win now but let me know what you guys think in the comments section down below as far as the center position feel like that’s going to be the the main thing now they didn’t address it necessarily in the drafting by drafting a center but uh I’m looking at the current guys that we have i think one of them at least is going to go by the start of next season let me know what you guys think in the comments section down below and as always guys thank you so much for being on this ride with me uh through this first year of talking about the Orlando Magic i am stoked i cannot wait for free agency and for the start of next season it’s going to be a fun time but let me know what you guys think in the comments section down below and as always I will see you guys next time with more Orlando Magic basketball content

Was watching his tape earlier I like his shot 🔥🎯
Bust
Podcast probably loved jett Howard pick too smh
Isaac must go
I think they gotta give up Wendell and keep the other three JI is the best at defense and Mo is the best at offense but if goga can play like how he did in the middle of the season last year I think he’s the best all around so I like that group of three cause it gives offense defense and a safe spot if goga doesn’t pan out also I think Wendell has the most value out of all of them so they could get the best for him
He won’t touch the floor. They will get a vet on the min.
Too small
Every year is a steal! C'mon be serious! I've seen the press conference and Richardson is even smaller then Weltman!! He will play in G-League, because is not ready for NBA.
He to small!!
Great pick!!
People used to say the same about Isaiah Thomas.. Too Small😂
good choices of JW are historically less than 50% (chosed MoBamba at 4 instead of SGA at 11), this is a candidate for the bad choices , undersized today is a no go. But useful for trade if you find the chicken . McClung is much better , developed and got no minutes . Good bench warmer. Is so cold the bench ? The ingredients to win are either dominant center or dominant shooters , nothing is here . Insert brain befor writing
Wendell is an offensive liability
Thanks for you analysis! Jameer was maybe 5'11 even though he listed at 6' and we all know how well he played for us!
Everyone says they got a steal. If he’s not a projected lottery pick after the tourney don’t keep putting this much pressure on non lottery picks. If they can play they will be on the roster. Some young players r picked for future potential. The pacers r an example of this. They developed and fed off the draft and others mistakes and lack of development. Orlando has yet to prove this too me. So much talent. Not much development. Just give it to Pancho n move.
