Cavaliers Sign Larry Nance Jr To A Deal
Larry Nance Jr. is heading back home. You guys remember ruined that video when he first went to the Cavaliers. He was like, “Oh, my parents just called me up and said my room is still ready for me.” And I was like, “Nah, I’ll get my own place.” I always just remember that. That’s always like one of those like throwback videos you think of. Now, Larry Nance, the one risk with this is his season ended with like this freaky knee injury, and he had missed earlier in the season, I think, due to a hand in hand injury, but he was killing it with Atlanta where he thought he was going to come back. In Atlanta this year, he averaged eight and a half points, four and a half rebounds, just under two assists on 52% from the field almost, about 45% from three, stealing a block a night. And this is a guy whose career high was what 9.3 points with the Cavs. And he’s a small ball five, a power forward, really solid, you know, switch big, who is a good offensive player. He’s got a solid three-point shot. He’s like 230, 240 lb, 68, and he actually has a what? His wingspan is 7 foot one and a half, almost 7 foot2. That’s wild. and he’s a guy who can playmake for people, run DHO’s, hit the open cutter, start a transition, and you know, stretch the floor. And he’s a strong screen and roll guy. He still has some athleticism that he uses in the paint. He’s got great tendencies both on offense, but on defense, he’s got a good motor. He We also just talked about his passing. He’s a short roll big man. Yeah, he’s not a rim protector and but he’s got good verticality. He’ll contest shots and he’ll get after on defense guarding three through five. and he’s a great offensive rebounder. So, if you’re a team like the Cavaliers who you needed something, the Cavaliers signing Larry Nance is huge because first off, Larry Nance Jr. is kind of a championship type player in my opinion. And this is the perfect situation for a guy like him who people still like him, but he wants a back needs a bounceback year. And with not Larry Nance being your backup center, maybe they bring back, you know, Tristan Thompson or they run that Larry Nance is your small ball guy and then Evan Moley is kind of your backup center whenever Jared Allen’s off the floor and then you put in Dean Wade whenever Evan Moley’s off the floor and you got Jaylen Tyson, Sam Merrell, Lonzo Ball, Darius Garland, Max Cruz, Donovan Mitchell, DeAndre Hunter, Evan Moy, Jared Allen, Craig Porter, Tyrese Proctor, and Nickon Tomlin. I wonder if Devonte Green or Luke Travers is also going to come back. But all in all, I really think this is like the type of deals that you like to see. They’re the ones that as an organization you’re trying to make. And shout out to Stein Line, Mark Stein for breaking this news, you know, beating Sham Shirania. But yeah, that’s basically the thoughts I had all on this. It wasn’t anything too crazy just because these are just moving parts and we’re at that part of the off season that you know it’s slowing down already. That’s it. Five.
