Kevin Durant accidentally roasts new Rockets teammate Dorian Finney-Smith ๐Ÿ˜‚

The Mind the Game podcast episode with Kevin Durant was recorded well before he joined the Houston Rockets. It was actually recorded last season, but he would go on to roast one of his new Rockets teammates, Dorian Finny Smith, during the episode.
And I understand the balance between having to get up a lot of threes. But I believe you can’t tell you Luca or Austin Reeves, don’t play your game and take those shots in the mid-range or just put just be you. Certain guys though,
for sure.
You know what I’m saying? Who need to
rely on the system of the team who need who can’t create on their own,
who can’t create those shots on their own. They need to shoot more threes.
So, I remember we was in a game against Cleveland and George’s knee, he like to talk a lot of I love Georgees, but he he talked a lot of
and he telling me like I’m I hit a couple mid-ranges in a row. We down like 15. Like, you need to shoot more threes. I said, “No, these dudes around me need to shoot more threes. I need to play my game.”
You know what I’m saying? Because if I get into this paint and cuz y’all going to collapse on this mid-range and I kick out to one of them, I’m expecting them to shoot the three, not dribble into a mid-range. Like, that don’t make no sense. But the best players on the team,
you can’t turn them into
You’re exactly right. So, it we did a whole episode on this that the mid-range has never been more important. It’s just it has to come from the right dudes,
right? you the court is spaced now by the role players.
Exactly.
What do you think they’re trying to take away?
Trees and layups. So, the star has to be able to make mid-range shots or else the team’s not going to be able to score in a playoff situation.
They they have to be able to loosen the defense takes with there. So, I think the analytics community would agree with that, too. Yeah. It’s really just we don’t want players X, Y, and Z taking a bunch of I mean because the mid-range I believe is if you can’t find a good shot, we should look for the good shots early, the threes. Attack the paint.
Attack the paint. Try to get layups. Try to get threes. But when it’s five to six seconds on a clock, get a ball to the best player.
And if you shoot a mid-range at that point, then he’s shooting mid-range. But we not going to waste the clock trying to look for a three. Two seconds on the clock and we giving it to no Dorian Smith with two seconds on the clock to make a three. That’s not
That’s not what we or or Boris O’Neal. That’s not I mean they can hit it for sure but that’s not sustainable offense for us going forward. So
So another thing what you’re also saying is like you pass up a good mid-range shot to get a worse
shotact. Right. So there’s a balance there to be exactly

  1. kd shooting 43% from 3 yet only attempting 6 per game is just bad math. Maybe if he listened to some of these dudes telling him to shoot more 3s especially in the playoffs his teams post-warriors might actually take good leads down the stretch for a change lol. Those playoff runs with the suns especially funny watching him and book jacking up 2s down the stretch while the opps role players hitting big 3s lol.

  2. Everytime i hear people talking about Anthony Edwards I just tell them to look at his mid-range game. Until he gets that to an elite level, hes just another athletic dude with an ego.

  3. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ this is why bron such great dude cuz he cant say it to his teammate how aweful they are instead he still keep passing the ball to them if thats ,kd or kobe he will surely tell them u suck wont pass u the ball bum๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

  4. Basically, play your roles.โค๏ธโ€๐Ÿ”ฅ There's a reason, why players like, AC, KCP, Jrue… Are 2 time nba ๐Ÿ†. They know their roles and are perfecting it along the way on their careers.

  5. Bro, if Lebron 6โ€™8 ainโ€™t no way KD is 6โ€™11 heโ€™s way taller than Bron in the thumbnail

  6. Rockets are probably pissed that they got Dโ€™Angelo Russell after Dame is now available ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ

  7. But the problem is Bron gives up everything when the clock is running. No matter if itโ€™s a mid range or three he ainโ€™t taking it . He will 10/10 times pass it up to Dorian smith

  8. That like teammates passing the rocks to LeBron in those final 2 mins of crunch or clutch time and Bron be bricking them mf 95% of the times funny how LeChoke is laughing ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

  9. Lefaketeammate response says it all…..smdh KD said all that just to say that about Finney-Smith to please Lehelpme since Finney-Smith left the Lakers. It's so obvious that this podcast was created to do just that, stroke Lebarbie bruised ego, attention seeking, Hypocrite!

  10. Duh that's called basketball most elite players shoot 50 percent from mid range most people chucking 3s make around 30 percent on average from 3. We just witnessed the most 3 point misses i the playoffs ever .

  11. Nash tryna get another coaching job but hes not a good 1 beacuse hes just a yes man who lets the players run the show

  12. Rename the title of your video please!! The only reason why people think it is a roast, is because LBJ is laughing and shaking his head…Durant said; with all do respect…Roastin is something totally different, it was professional how he said it, immature from LBJ for laughing..get your facts right Chaz.

  13. The way LeBron held the laugh back when KD mentioned Finney-Smith ๐Ÿคฃ you know he relatin ๐Ÿคฃ

  14. Basically what KD saying is if Itโ€™s player who canโ€™t create doing the most at end of a shot clock especially make or miss that is good defense. Turns into a percentage game

  15. So we got 3 NBA legends legitimate legends talking about how the game is played and the Celtics literally just shot themselves out of the 2nd round playing the exact opposite of what these gentlemen are saying ๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿฝโ€โ™‚๏ธ

  16. All I hear is excuses from guys who never got it done on their own like a true legend. Timmy Kobe Mj Steph took their team on their back and lead the way like true legends.
