🚨BREAKING🚨: Dante Exum Re-Signs With Dallas Mavericks In 2025 NBA Free Agency! | Mavs News ALERT

[Music] Dante Exom is returning for his third season with the Dallas Mavericks. Welcome into Mavericks today by chat sports. Jeffrey Cooperstein here with you guys. Breaking news here on the channel. Dante Exom has agreed to a one-year deal to return to the Dallas Mavericks. And this is a move that I absolutely wanted the Dallas Mavericks to make. Dante Exom is someone that can play the point guard role. And what do the Mavericks need most? They need ball handling. They signed D’Angelo Russell to the two-year $13 million contract. And now they resigned Dante Exom to solidify their point guard spot before Kyrie Irving returns later in the season. And this is why you subscribe to the channel because when the Mavericks make a move, we have you covered right here. No matter how big or how small, we will let you know anything the Dallas Mavericks do. It’s youtube.com/mavstv. Go ahead and hit that subscribe button. I really like this move for the Mavericks and by all accounts this is going to be a veteran minimum and Dante Exom is someone who in two years with the Mavs played a very pivotal role in 23-24 when the Mavs made the finals exom played in 55 games and he especially was really good from three-point land where he shot 49% and yeah it was on limited attempts but he he was what I like to call a connector within the offense. He can he can dish the ball out. He can bring the ball up the court. He can push the pace. He can also sit in the corner and make a spot up three when you need him to. I think this is a really valuable guy to have. He’s also a good point of attack defender as well. So, in Dante Ex, you’re getting someone that can both give you on offense what Jason Kidd wants in a point guard and on defense, he can be someone that can guard elite ones and twos as well. So, Nico Harrison values the defensive versatility. I think Jason Kidd values his offensive versatility. And Dante Exom is a really big addition to this Mavericks team. Now, we do know this. The Mavericks will have to make a corresponding move to free up a roster spot because they already had 15 guys on the roster and Dante Exom makes 16th. So, who will that be? Will it be Jaden Hardy? Will it be cutting Dwight Pal? Will it be trading Prosper away? Dwight Pal did pick up his player option. They’re not going to trade Daniel Gaffford despite him not having a trade restriction on his three-year extension. Kyrie’s obviously going to be on the team and then they just resigned D’Angelo Russell. So, from my point of view, Exom will be on this roster. Maybe the Mavericks go into training camp with an extra guy and they try to figure it out from there. There’s no rush for them to move on from Omax or Jaden Hardy, but by opening night, I think it’ll be one of those guys that end up being gone. And I I just I like this signing just because I think the Mavericks really need some continuity right now with Dante Exom here in the lineup. And he gives them that. He’ll be coming into his third year with the Mavericks. He knows exactly what Jason Kidd wants from him. And he knows what he needs to do in order to be in the lineup every single night. And that will be the key is can can Dante stay healthy? He’s dealt with a bunch of injuries throughout his time with the Mavericks. He only played 55 games in year 1, was limited to just 20 games last year as well. Broke his wrist multiple times. Uh he broke his wrist in training camp last year and that kept him out for a significant portion of the season and then he broke it again. So he’s had to deal with that as well as other issues that have just not really kept him on the court for any consistent amount of time. So, if Dante can figure out how to stay healthy, maybe he’s available for 65 70 games for this Mavericks team, they’re going to need it because in the first start of the season, it’s D’Angelo Russell, it’s Brandon Williams, and that’s it. So, Dante will have a significant role to play, especially in the first part of the season. So, I am excited about this signing, man. Like I I’m not saying that this is going to set the world on fire or anything like that, but I think Dante Exom’s a pretty good player, and it’s always good to have good players and good ball handlers on any NBA team. Rate Dante Exom as a player for me down in the comment section. Scale it from one to 100 down below. If you think he’s the best player in the world, go ahead and type 100. And if you think he’s the worst player in the world, go ahead and type one down there in the comment section. So, Dante Exom, the number zero for the Mavericks, did resign here on a one-year deal. And Exom is a guy who, look, he’s not going to be the traditional point guard where he’s someone that is going to be the floor general, so to speak. That’s really not his game. His game is to play off the other guard and he can play with other guards as well. So, I expect him to have some time with Brandon Williams. I expect him to have some time with D’Angelo Russell on the court there. And I expect him to have some time as a shooting guard, as a point guard as well. He can play both of those. And where Exom’s versatility will really come in is, I think, on the three-point shooting aspect of things. The Mavericks really don’t have a whole lot of shooting right now outside of Klay Thompson. And XM is truly an underrated shooter. And I know it’s not on a bunch of attempts per game, but if he can maybe up his attempts per game to three or four as opposed to two and a half where he’s kind of sat for the first two years of his Maverick’s career, I think the Mavs could be in a good spot there going forward. And like I said, with Kyrie Irving out for the first half of the season as well, Dante Exom’s probably going to slide in as the third ball handler behind D’Angelo Russell and Brandon Williams as well. You have Russell there at the two, Brandon Williams at the three, exom at the four, and then you’ll have Hardy there at the very end. And I I don’t know if Jaden Hardy is going to be on this team going forward, but what I do know is this makes you significantly deeper than you would before cuz what would happen if D’Angelo Russell or Brandon Williams ended up getting injured? You would have been screwed. So now you have that insurance policy there and you have someone who has played with this team before, knows how to handle the ball, knows what offensive sets Jason Kidd wants to run, and can contribute on the defensive end as well with his length, his versatility, his ability to get in the passing lanes, his ability to create pressure on the basketball, which is something the Mavericks severely severely lack. So I really like the signing for him, and I think this is a good deal for the Mavericks. And this is all the moves the Mavericks have made so far here in the NBA offseason. signed Dwight Pal to a one-year $4 million deal. Uh Daniel Gaffford they gave the extension to at three years $54 million as well. Kyrie Irving a threeyear $119 million deal. And then D’Angelo Russell a 2-year $13 million deal. So grade the signing for me down in the comment section. Once again, A, B, C, D, or F. Let me know down there in the comments what you think this the uh signing of Dante Exom is worth. I’ll give it like a B B+. I think it was a really solid signing for the Mavs and there’s just something that there’s something about keeping a guy on your roster that has been there and knows the familiarity of what you’re trying to do. Speaking of someone that was on the Mavericks last season, Spencer Denwitty did sign a one-year deal with the Charlotte Hornets. I have to assume that’s going to be a veteran minimum deal. Uh Spence played a big role for the Mavericks last year, man. He played in 81 games. Uh played the most minutes on the team last season as well. And yeah, he was pretty inconsistent. He took some pretty ill-advised shots. I that’s very well recorded. If you go back on the channel and watch some of our live streams, I’ve said some crazy things about Spencer Denwitty, but all in all, last season he was a pretty important player for the Mavs. Um, but hopefully with the addition of D’Angelo Russell, who is the basically the Denwitty replacement, that’ll be that and the Mavs can move on from Spencer Denwitty with an upgrade in the way of D’Angelo Russell. That will do it for today’s breaking news edition of Mavericks Today by Chat Sports, guys. appreciate you for tuning in to the show and of course if the Mavs make a move, we’ll have you covered right here on the channel. 1. We pretty much got the whole gang back! Well we did exchange Luka for AD,Christie and Cooper Flagg! Extend Nico!

  2. At this point, I don't care how the Mavs do it, but switch Powell for Kai Jones. We need three solid bigs for injury insurance. Hell, use stretch provision on Powell, how the Bucks did on Dame's contract to get him out if you can't dump him on another team; he's only making 4 million.

  3. A grade on the low. Its still F Nico, but it warrants at least 1 week of grace where we wont crap on him. Next up is PJ. Do the right thing

  4. B+

Exum won't wow you, but he's the type of guards you need around Flagg to help develop his game. He can handle the rock when needed, but he won't take the ball away from Flagg. Same with Dlo to an extent.

  5. mavs should know that DLive and AD are injury prone if theyre out whos avail only Gaff, if Gaff s out whos avail Powell naaah better siogn Kai jones

  6. So glad we brought Exum back. He can do several things for this team on both sides of the ball. Perfect guy to play 15-18 min/game.
