Atlanta Hawks are KILLING the Offseason, East is ON NOTICE! | The Dime With Josh and Kwab

uh let’s talk about the other winner or one of the huge winners of the offseason too on the East Coast and that’s the Atlanta Hawks hate to say it but it’s true but it’s true my Knicks are going to have to worry about the Atlanta Hawks next year i I actually think the Hawks are a horrible match up for the Knicks um don’t want to get to that specifically but love what the Hawks have done this off seasonason they added KP now in day one of free agency they add Alexander Walker uh they add Luke Canard just love what they’re doing here a lot of depth um they get Okongu is probably get a lot of playing time now that Clink Capella is gone you open up you know a lot of minutes for him you know with Trey Young what you got to do is you got to surround him with shooters people who can run the pick and roll and who can defend their ass off and you do that with Nikquila Alexander Walker luke Canard can hit the shot hit the three one of the best three-point shooters in the league uh you add KP who can stretch the floor also protect the rim play you know guard fours and fives i I think the Hawks have had such a good offseason that I’m actually thinking that like to me right now the tears in the East are like Cavs and Knicks up top and it’s only because of how they finished last year i don’t know how good the Magic and Hawks are going to be but to me they’re right they’re right there it’s it’s I I don’t know it wouldn’t shock me if like either the Magic or the Hawks finish as like the two seed next year specifically the Hawks i mean I might put the Hawks over the Knicks right now bro
i I wouldn’t blame you i’m not going to lie i might put the Hawks over the Knicks just because uh we’ll we’ll talk about Knicks a little bit later but like uh some of the some of the lineups the Hawks can throw out there are like really ridiculous and not just offensively defensively like
Dyson Daniels gave Jaylen Brunson like even when Jaylen was scoring on him it was so freaking difficult
yeah like it’s like you just said like I think I’m trying to remember who I think uh who tweeted i think Nikias uh NBA he tweeted out um um that if in a game like the Hawks lead by two and there’s like 13 seconds left in a defensive lineup they can put out there with like Nel uh Dyson Daniels uh Jaylen Johnson uh Ricochet and Okongu like that’s that’s a five they can put out there with just pure length they can switch
crazy
and lock down like that’s crazy that’s ridiculous
that’s ridiculous And like you said adding adding Luke Canard like a great shooter like they they’ve made solid moves this off like this off seasonason and if they have a healthy KP I think that’s the that’s the to me that’s the difference the difference maker with them like if they have a healthy KP that’s a potential like number one team in the East wow wow
to me yeah if they have a if they have a healthy KP with how well
like I I feel like it’s we we gotten to the point where like Trey Young has been so consistent he gets swept under the rock so every
so crazy to me i mean because obviously I’m a Nick fan so like we we chant F Trey Young outside the building of Madison Square Garden when we win
i don’t specifically but the fan base does
i think people have forgotten how good Trey Young is man like I there’s there’s nobody I would rather have the ball in their hands like with like going off of a pick and roll cuz like how you he’s unstoppable in a pick and roll situation he he really is you just got to hope that he’s missing his shot if he decides to pull it because he can make every pass off of the pick and roll and he can shoot off the pick and roll off the dribble like he’s just impossible to guard and now you surround him with wings who can do who can guard who can hit shots and a big
a big like KP when he’s when he’s healthy who can hit shots can spread the floor
right
like I they have the potential to be the best team in the East
yeah and and to me the problem with the Hawks also like the past few years wasn’t so much the offense either it was def like defensively they just couldn’t stop teams when they needed to stop teams and now you now you you you had Tyson Daniels was a great pickup now you add Nikquil Alexander Walker kp again is someone who can guard the paint and and you know can guard stretch stretch bigs if need be again KP has to be healthy at Jaylen comes back he he’s someone who could play like it’s just it’s insane like what they’ve built shout out to I know they have a new general manager forgive me Hawks fans i don’t know his name um but they fired Landry Fields essentially yeah um and their new GM is doing work doing just to me just turned around the whole franchise honestly with some help with Landry because I thought Landry made some good moves too especially Dyson in particular um yeah got to got to give the Hawks credit man i don’t know if I’m ready to say that the number one seed but like I just said before like it wouldn’t surprise me if like either the Hawks or Magics but specifically the Hawks are end up being your two seed end up being a three seed somehow you know I I thought going into this off seasonason I thought it was very clear with the Hallebertton injury with the Tatum injury with the Dame injury that it was very clear it was Cavs Knicks at the top and everybody in the East just kind of trying to catch up i think you can make the case that like the Hawks we haven’t seen them play but you can make the case that the Hawks are in that tier now and maybe the Magic too maybe the Magic maybe the Magic
yeah i just like I said it’s like potential is a is a is a scary word but they have the potential to be the best team in the east to me [Music]
